Wow this is a page turner and a well laid out story. The plot is a bit predictable but still allows the reader to be engaged and enjoy the story. The concept was very interesting and intriguing and after the initial introduction it got intense pretty fast. The book was suspenseful throughout the whole story. I even enjoyed the romance element in this book. Cameron is a dentist who is grieving following the loss of her second husband, John, when she finds evidence of his true identity that will shock her to her very core. Cameron's husband has just died in a horrible bear attack. While mourning his loss at his hunting cabin in Washington, she makes a very grim discovery and realizes that she didn't know her husband as well as she thought she did. Losing everything, including her home and dental practice, because of her connection to an alleged serial killer, Cameron decides to travel to Alaska where she hopes to clear her name of any guilt by association once and for all. Risking her own life to exact a final revenge on John will be perilous and harrowing, and the atmosphere. This is my first novel by Audrey J. Cole, but it won't be my last. This was a page turner that I finished in a day.

Thank you to Netgalley, Audrey J Cole, and Rainer Publishing.

The Final Hunt was fairly entertaining, but not particularly memorable or mind-blowing. The writing was adequate and easy to follow. There wasn't much character development, but the plot moved pretty quickly, except for a bit in the middle, which was slow. I did enjoy the narration of the audiobook, which was well-narrated at a good speed.

What would you do if you found out your spouse was a serial killer? That is what happens to Cameron one day when she stumbles upon pictures of her husband with women who were killed by the infamous Teacher Killer in their mountain cabin. Her husband is presumed killed by a bear and she has been mourning his death. She she finds the pictures she turns them over to the police and that opens up an investigation and she is also investigated and her life is turned upside down. When she begins to investigate she learns her husband may still be alive and goes on the hunt for him in Alaska. That is not the end, he may not have have been the only one killing alone.

I am new to Audrey Cole as an author and received an early release coy if I would agree to so a review.

A very interesting read, where the author captures you enough that you don't want to put it down at the end of a chapter. In summary, the main character in the plot's husband died in a bear attack in the wilderness. She then comes across photos of his horrific life which she supposedly was unaware of. She goes to the police with the photos.

Please read it, I don't want to give anything away :)

Thank you NetGalley and OrangeSky Audio for this audible ARC in exchange for my fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

I’m slowly becoming a fan of the genre of mysteries and thrillers and so far, this year, NetGalley and publishers have provided me with some very good reads. “The Final Hunt” is a new listen by Audrey J. Cole, new author to this reader. What a well-written story and plot that was totally worth the request. Cameron’s husband, John is killed by bears while on a hunting trip with a friend. After his death, she uncovers photos of murders…very horrific photos that tell the secret side of a man she was once married to and loved. Feeling uneasy, she turns them over to the police and starts her own fact finding into the photos until she is accused of being accomplice to the murders.

This story was one rollercoaster ride to the finish. An audiobook that was oh so good from the first chapter to the last. It was fast paced without all the fluff that sometimes is put into stories. I loved the plot and the secrets that were slowly unfolded surrounding Cameron’s husband. Despite the bad circumstances that she experienced in this story, I loved her strong will and intelligence when the situation came into play. I also enjoyed the fact that the author provided scenic descriptions of the wilderness of Alaska in all its beauty. Narration by Stacey Gemboski was just outstanding. What made her performance such was her ability not to push the male voice in her narration…that kept the story so real and bringing it to life. It was had for me to stop listening because the narration had you drawn into the story and characters. Totally recommend this audiobook.

Thank you NetGalley for this audio ARC. Cameron's life has been turned upside down after her husband is "killed" by bears on a hunting trip. Her husband dying isn't the worst thing Cameron is going to go through. She stumbles across some horrific photos of her husband murdering women. John, otherwise known as the teacher killer, leaves incriminating photos of his dirty deeds that Cameron turns over to the police and then her life has been turned upside down.
Cameron decides to take things into her hands and track down the horrors that her husband committed to clear her name.

This was a great book. There were twists and turns throughout. I would definitely recommend this book to others.

A man disappears while hunting with a friend, in what his friend believes is a bear attack. After his death, John's wife Cameron finds crime scene photos connecting her husband to gruesome murders that had occurred in Washington. After her discovery, her life starts falling apart, leading her to dig further as she starts being accused of being an accomplice to her husband's murders.

This audiobook was soooo good! I loved the narrator, and I could not stop listening. This thriller is fast-paced and an easy listen. It's set in beautiful locations (Washington and Alaska) and what attracted me most to the book was the setting. I love reading books set in remote Alaska and the challenges being in those remote areas poses, and this book did not disappoint. It gave you a glimpse of life in Alaska and surviving in the wilderness with all of the hair raising action of hunting down a killer.

Thank you to OrangeSky Audio and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy of this audio book!

One of my favorite books of the year! New to be author and narrator and both have been added to my list to read/listen to again!

The story, while not a deep who-done-it mystery, is enthralling for about 90% of the book! I couldn't stop listening when I should have been doing other things.

Thank you Rainier Publishing for this arc of The Final Hunt in exchange for my honest review. As a teacher, I was completely creeped out by the serial murders of teachers…which was enough to keep me hooked. However, after a while, I found myself drifting away from being able to focus on the audiobook. It could’ve been shorter, I believe. Still, the author’s writing style is engaging.

I received an advanced copy of the ebook. The narration is great! This story is filled with secrets. As the story develops, the secrets are slowly peeled away. Lots of small details that complicate the plot. It is filled with Serial killer, domestic abuse, corporate greed, and deception. The ending leaves you wondering if there will be a sequel. I gave it 4 stars since it was intriguing.

Cameron has finally found her HEA with John, they’re both successful in their fields, wealthy and living in relative happiness when John is tragically killed by a bear on a hunting trip. A few months later and grieving deeply, Cameron visits their cabin and finds photo evidence that points toward John as being a vicious and notorious serial killer dubbed the Teacher Killer. Bringing the photos to the attention of the police makes her look like an accomplice and when the digging begins, it’s all Cameron can do to keep herself out of jail. Someone went to a lot of trouble to make her look complicit and as John’s secrets come to light, so will Cameron’s.

There were times I had to take a bit of a leap in the belief department but you know what? I didn’t care because this book was a heck of a thrill ride and I enjoyed it tremendously. Cameron’s character is a badass; she’s smart, likeable and strong when she needs to be – I like that she made the hard choices and took the hard chances in order to get her life back.

Most of the extreme action takes place in the Alaskan wilderness and it's beautifully described by the author. The extreme weather and the wildlife really added to the tense and suspenseful atmosphere.

Narration: Stacey Glemboski narrates and she is phenomenal! She brings the characters to life, giving them depth and personality; making each unique and unforgettable!

My thanks to OrangeSky Audio and Netgalley for this gifted ALC

This was a fast pace read for me. I literally listened to the audiobook in a day! It was such a addicting book for me. While Cameron is grieving the loss of her husband she stumbles upon some evidence that turns her life upside down. Dark secrets are uncovered on both sides and it’s a riveting book.
I really enjoyed how the book scenes changed from Washington to Alaska and how Cameron is a pilot. Very vivid descriptions.
The narrator, Stacey Glemboski does a wonderful job and kept me engaged listening to the story she was telling. For me, it was very easy to picture the scenes. Together the author and narrator did a wonderful job! While things are obvious in this story, it kept my attention. If you enjoy twisted thrillers then check this book out.
Special thanks to NetGalley and OrangeSky audio for the ALC.

What a mind: A teacher serial killer and a trip to Alaska. No spoilers. The story is okay, it has highs and lows. The narrator sold the audiobook. She was excellent. I liked the background history on hunting in Alaska as well as bears versus wolves. I had problems with a law enforcement person destroying evidence and no snow mobile experience used for the hunt. Those were two shady areas. Using no spoilers, getting away twice I find unrealistic.

I did enjoy the story, 3 stars. In addition to the above, the whole move at the end is cheesy. I enjoyed the Alaskan setting and will check out other books by the author, fingers crossed there are others.

Thank you NetGalley for accepting my request to read and review The Final Hunt.

Well!..I didn't expect such a fast paced, interesting and exciting story.

Not sure how many times I got the ending wrong (nothing new there!) but I'm so glad that it did end the way it did - it felt right, kinda perfect!

Fantastically descriptive writing, brought to life with great narration

Thanks so much Audrey J. Cole and OrangeSky Audio, via NetGalley for gifting me an audiobook copy for an honest review.

Thank you Netgalley and Orange Sky Audio for this advance listener copy in exchange for my honest review.

This is a review of the audio only. I toggled between the print copy and the audio book. I will end this with a copy of my review for the print edition.

The audio was fantastic in this book. The narrator didn't try to use a man's voice for the male characters, which I thoroughly enjoyed. There's nothing worse than a narrator trying to do voices for the opposite sex. They sound weird and out of place every time. Four stars.

Here's my review for the print edition:

"I really enjoyed this book. I liked that it was somewhat of a police procedural, but it didn't focus the attention of the story on the investigation. I'm not a huge fan of police procedural novels, but this one was good.

Cameron's husband has just died in a horrible bear attack. While mourning his loss at his hunting cabin in Washington, she makes a very grim discovery and realizes that she didn't know her husband as well as she thought she did.

This is my first novel by Audrey J. Cole, but it won't be my last. This was a page turner that I finished in a day. I toggled between the print version and the audio version, which were both fantastic. I give this book 4 stars as it gripped me from the prologue. Very well written and very thrilling. Especially while listening to the audio version. I was on the edge of my seat a few times. Although I did predict one of the twists at the end, it didn't ruin the story for me."

Thank you to NetGalley, Audrey Coke, and Orangesky Audio for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. What would you do if you found out your husband was a serial killer? We follow Cameron who is blindsided by this news as she travels to Alaska to tie up lose ends in efforts to clear her name. I enjoyed the pace and characters in this book, especially the small town Alaskan characters. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future! This title will be available for purchase or on KU on 6/7/22!

The Final Hunt by Audrey J. Cole
At the start of the book Cameron is grieving the loss of her husband John from a bear attack on a hunting trip. She is spending a lot of time at a cabin they owned while she was grieving. While she was there she discovered some photos of her husband with some women that where murdered. She takes this to the police and she finds out her husband was a serial killer.

The story takes off from there and she realizes that she never really new the man she married at all. Her life becomes out of control because how could she not know that her husband was a serial killer. This was a decent domestic thriller with some twists and turns. The only issue I had was towards the end but I do not want to give that away. Cameron has her own secrets as well.

If you are a reader of domestic thrillers or even a fan of thrillers this book would be good to read it fits the bill and is a quick read.

The story was narrated by Stacy Glemboski and she did a fantastic job with each character.

I want to thank Netgalley and Orange Sky Audio for a free copy of the book for an honest review.

This book was sent to me as an audio book for review by Netgalley. I am a visual learner…audio books do not appeal to,e, but since my daughter reviews audio books, I keep trying. Finally, a narrator who has a pleasant voice…is fine to listen to…the story is intriguing…some red herrings but also some obvious clues…I am finding it easy to pick up after stopping for awhile…I still prefer the written word, but this book could convince me to listen to more…this author has woven an ingenious story that is like true crime…perhaps a Criminal Minds episode…I look forward to more books by Cole…don’t miss this one in any format. I must add that at times, I was dismayed at what was happening in this book...cruel acts...and the ending...well...no spoilers but...

Thank you Netgalley and OrangeSky Audio for the opportunity to listen to this arc audiobook.

Cameron discovers her husband, John, is the Teacher Serial Killer. She makes some horrific discoveries about his crimes and is convinced he is hiding out in Alaska. She travels to Alaska to confront him, after she also become a suspect as an accomplice to her husbands murderous ways.

This book has a good storyline and a well written plot line. I felt there could have been a bit more to actually uncovering and solving this crime. The narrator was excellent and kept a good pace while still keeping you interested.

I did enjoy this book and loved the Alaska setting. Definitely an Author to watch!
