Fans of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train will love this story! It’s a compelling thriller with some beautifully crafted twists and turns. A simple plot easy to follow but with real darkness and loneliness at its heart. It is a perfect example of how we can easily construct a world and a viewpoint, possibly incorrectly, when we only have one side of a story.
Well paced, a great book to curl up with as autumn arrives when published in September.
Thanks to @netgalley for an early read .
It took me a while to get into this novel but before long I was very immersed. There are lots of twists and loathsome characters to keep you gripped! Very pacey plot and engaging writing style, highly recommend!

Awesome twists.
My name is Isabella Butterworth. Your name is Isabella Butterworth. We’re around the same age. We live in the same town. But your life is more exciting than mine, isn’t it? Richer, dramatic, more fulfilling. Imagine if I’d never found out about you… But I have. Because someone mistook me for you. And now I can’t stop thinking about you because I know you’re in trouble. You need my help. And I need a way to get to know you. To save you. To be you…
Loved it very much.
Thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for giving me an advance copy.
I was gripped from the first few pages of Friends Don't Lie. The characters intrigued me and although I guessed some of the twists the ending left me speechless. A great read and highly recommended.
Friends Don’t Lie by Nell Pattison is a hugely absorbing novel that will keep you utterly gripped and reading into the early hours of the night.
Pattison’s writing makes this a very easy read to get into, I couldn’t stop turning the pages quick enough.
An exciting, intriguing read! I could not stop reading Friends Don’t Lie!
There were twists and turns and just when everything was figured out, another bomb was dropped!
Nell is an incredible writer, with engaging characters and fantastic pacing and a very relatable writing style and it all adds up to a pretty immense novel.

Avon,
Thank You for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
Unfortunately I found Friends don't lie, by Nell Pattison very slow and I just didn't like the main character. I did finish the book, but it was a struggle
*I received an eARC in exchange for my honest review.*
I could not finish this. It takes forever to really get going, and in the meantime you have to suffer through an expanse that seems like the author was trying to fluff their word count - the writing is rather repetitive with a penchant for stating the obvious after making a point. I predict some readers will love it, but I didn't.
I found this book very slow to get started and I disliked main character Izzy. I couldn't connect with her and found her actions implausible and lacking in motive.
Around the midway point however, the book really ramped up and I actually couldn't put it down. One twist I guessed quite early on but there was another one that knocked me for six! I'm hard to surprise now so I love it when that happens.
Overall the slow start and one coincidence too many stopped me from loving this, but it is a really good story so I would recommend reading it. I think my expectations were possibly set too high as I loved 'Hide' and the 'Silent' series so much.
3.5 stars rounded to 4.
A real cracker!
Fast paced read full of devious and/or clever characters.
I had no trouble getting into this book from the very start.
Great writing from this author just when i thought i got it....i hadn't.
My only disappointment was that i finished it far to quickly.
Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for an early copy.
Well deserved five stars.
Isabella Butterworth comes across several strange emails addressed to another person with her same exact name. She searches up the other Isabella and admires her beauty, her two daughters and handsome husband, Ian. When the main character is attacked by a man asking for the other Isabella, she becomes frightened and goes to the police. She tries to get in touch with the other Isabella and befriend her in hopes to warn her and prevent an attack. Will she be successful? Or will she end up in a worse situation than she could have ever thought of?
This was a very fun and entertaining read, with a few twists along the way that I did not figure out. Highly enjoyable and a bit of a different thriller, I can highly recommend FRIENDS DON’T LIE. It's a quick and easy read to get lost in for a day.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books, UK for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This review will be posted to my Instagram Blog (@coffee.break.book.reviews) in the near future.
I really, really enjoyed reading this book! It was fast paced and it kept me guessing the entire time!
I received an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review
I really enjoyed this book – I related and liked all three of the female protagonists, and I really did not see the twist coming. Definitely motivating me to read more by this author and will add her to my autorequest list!
With friends like these who needs enemies? Perfect thriller for a rainy day. I cozied up and read this book in several hours. I was completely swept away by the plot.
I have read this author before but I was somewhat confused by this plot. I expected the twists and turns but I found the story somewhat convoluted and far fetched. Having said that I was invested enough in the plot to finish it
This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, from Avon Books UK and #NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to preview and review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
A wild, suspenseful, thrill packed ride. Fast paced, easy to read all at once.
Thank you NetGalley and Avon Books UK for the copy of Friends Don’t Lie. I love books by Nell Pattison and this was no exception. Her characters are always well drawn and the two Isabelles were great characters. I was sorry that the hearing loss was not carried on throughout the story or used as a plot point because I loved the deaf representation in the ‘Silent’ books and in Hide. Read this book carefully - there is so much going on it’s easy to miss important happenings. . I did (because I sped through the book) and was confused at one point! If you love twisty books, this book is for you! If you love great characters, this book is for you! If you love great writing, this book is for you!
Thank you NetGalley, Avon books and Nell Pattison for letting me read “Friends don’t Lie” in exchange for an honest review.
What a ride!
Isabella Butterworth. Pretty unusual name you lights think. Think again. The Isabella we get to meet first lives a pretty unspectacular life. She considers herself pretty average. She receives the odd email every now and then, addressed to Isabella Butterworth. Two women with the same name. At first she does not really pay attention to that, until one night she gets hassled by an unknown man, threatening to kill Isabella Butterworth.
She tries finds out that the other Isabella lives in the same town. Should she contact her? Should she warn her? Are they both in danger? Who is the beautiful woman who seems to have it all?
It’s a dual perspective, from both Isabella’s. The great thing is that the story sucks you in right away. There are so many different aspects. Internet stalking, a death threat, a brother in prison, one Isabella loosing her hearing ability. I really liked that aspect actually. She starts to feel lonely and retreats from social life.
This was a solid four star read, barely missed the five star mark. The oomph factor in the end was missing fit me. But throughout the book, the story was planes oh well and executed accordingly. The characters were well written. I’d definitely recommend this novel!
Friends Don't Lie, what a sneaky read. A dual point-of-view novel with two women of the same name, different lifestyles and yet they have an odd and deadly connection.
Thank you to the teams at Harper Collins, Avon Books UK and NetGalley for giving me early access to this novel, for the means of an honest review. Releasing on the 29th September 2022.
Nell Pattison has easily devised another book that will create discussions similar to COHOs 'Verity' - who do you believe?
The authors passion for deaf education is continued in this next novel, although, the referencing to hearing impairment faded towards the peak of this story. Otherwise, get your hands on this book for a treacherous journey!
A solid 4 star read, had high hopes for a 5 star when I first began to read but unfortunately it just didn’t gather the required pace
Absolute edge of seat reading! Read this in one sitting as I was way too intrigued I wanted to race to the end, only to regret that I'd read it so fast.
I had no idea where this might go, and if I had a million guesses, I still would not have been anywhere near close.
This plot is VERY intricate so be sure to give this your full attention. Its dark, twisty and I never knew quite who to trust.
Great to see some deaf representation in the book too, always a plus to see this.
If you want to feel frightened, shocked, and completely absorbed into something, this is a must read.
