Thanks to NetGalley for providing an advanced copy of The Touch of Love: A WWII Romance. Kyle Shoop, the author, took time to talk with my book club and discuss the book and the Senses of Love series. This series is a really cool idea, taking each sense, and diving deep in what makes that so special in romance and in life.
The Touch of Love is the fifth book in the series although they can be read as standalones. It is based to Poland during WWII and in modern times. It was interesting reading about the Poles' experience in the war. The characters have a strength that's admirable and they have a friendship that you wish you had.
In modern times Katie is going through a separation and is wondering if she can make it work with her husband. In figuring out her grandfather's past, she's sent across the country. She meets couples, that you can read in depth in through the series, that changes how she looks at her husband.
This is a fun novel, but also has some depth and insight about life, empathy, sacrifice, and love.

Book review : The touch of Love by Kyle Shoop is an immense heart-touching romantic story.

The Touch of Love is written in a dual timeline, which is a favorite format of mine. You alternate between Katie's present and her grandfather's past during WWII. While I loved the historical portion of this one, I really enjoyed reading about Katie and Noah. There is such deep feeling and meaning in their relationship but miscommunication and misunderstanding sent it reeling. Reading of them finding their way back to each other was heartwarming.

I enjoyed the way katie unfolds the suspense and secrets of her grandfather. It really touched me. "Love is not only a feeling or an idea, but the result of what is experienced through the five senses."

I honestly can’t decide which of the alternating stories I liked more - Anna and Jacob, or Katie and Noah. That’s how well this was written- I wanted to keep reading both. But on reflection, now, I think I can’t decide between the two because, really, they are one story.

I loved reading this book and recommend this historical romance book to all romance book lovers. I promise you won't regret. I am thankful to netgalley and xpresso publishers for providing me this book in return of an honest review.
Happy Reading!
