Wow this little book is just perfect for exploring and explaining emotions and feelings in a relatable way. The excerises at the end are simplely explained in a way that children will remember to help release uncomfortable emotions. A great little book that is very well laid out where each emotion has a colour. Thanks Netgalley.
The Little Prince: My Book if Feelings, helps children think, explore and have a good understanding of feelings and how their feelings affect them and others.
This will help them move forward in their lives being emotionally balanced as they will understand how others may also feel.
Ever the classic, The Little Prince is back in a new style to teach young children emotions. It’s hard to be new to the world and this book helps navigate and explain what one might be feeling. It does so by giving a color to the emotion, as well as explaining not just circumstances one might feel that emotion in, but also physiological symptoms of the emotion. There are small examples of each where the Little Prince provides an example of what makes them happy, sad, scared, etc and poses a question to help start a conversation. This is a brilliant tool for teaching little one’s about their emotions.
📖My Thoughts📖
This was a very cute book about feelings. My kids loved it (8 1/2 and 5) and we’re very engaged throughout the whole book. The illustrations were very cute and colorful. I think it’s great to have a book that describes feelings to children so they can have a better concept of what each emotion is. I think this is a great book for little kids. Both kiddos have it two thumbs up, so that’s a plus! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Achei bem fofinho.
Esperava mais, mais páginas, mas coisas.
Porém, por ser um livro infantil, acredito que vá adorar a criançada.
É uma das minhas histórias preferidas, então não deixo de indicar.
This is a wonderful book for children about feelings. It describes different feelings and offers room for the child to express a time when they felt/feel like that. I love the various activities at the end of the book, and the caregiver can also use this as a springboard for other activities as well (ex - arts and crafts). This book is perfect for classrooms, school and public libraries, and home libraries. Highly recommended.
This book is a good resource for teaching ages 3-6 how to recognize and appropriately react to feelings they are having. Joy, surprise, anger, love, fear, sadness, and calm are the emotions discussed in the book.
The book’s format includes the emotion, the reaction and the instinctive behavior coupled with an example of an appropriate response from the Little Prince. Exercises for calming fear, driving out anger, soothing sadness and finding calm are included to help children successfully work through the emotions they feel.
I received this book from the author/publisher free of charge, with no expectation of a positive review.
This wasn't the greatest as an e-book, but the content was perfect. Any book that teaches little ones about feelings and how to name them gets an A in my book. Fear, anger, and sadness are difficult for little minds to understand and not push it all to anger. Thanks!
Who better than the Little Prince as a guide to emotions for young children? This book helpfully describes a number of feelings and assigns each one a color. For example, anger is red. It is described as an unpleasant emotion that might make a child want to yell. On the accompanying page is a Saint Expury illustration of the Little Prince when he is angry. Children are then asked to think about what makes them angry. This is the format in a book that covers seven emotions. At the end, some mindfulness activity suggestions are included.
This is an excellent book to read with a child. Kids can be encouraged to bring the book out to show an adult how they are feeling. Children can also learn the color codes and use these. I think that this book could be an effective tool for social workers, teachers and mental health professionals who engage with young ones.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Chouette Publishing for this title. All opinions are my own.
I love, love, love books that help people identify their emotions and how to express them. And I especially love that The Little Prince is being used to convey this experience. Highly recommend.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an eARC. All opinions are my own.
This book has so many wonderful messages and has lots of lovely descriptions for children about a variety of emotions. It would be a perfect lesson accompaniment for a unit on feelings. There are even some exercises at the end of the book to try. It is a charming and educational book that will be enjoyed by many.
What a lovely little book to start this journey with! I've only just recently borrowed a book from the library with my own small human, exactly about this topic, but this was a bit of a miss, as it didn't explain much at all, so we were both none the wiser. so we put the book back in the bag, ready to be returned to the library.
This book however does REALLY talk about these different FEELINGS! This book really describes the feelings and also gives examples of exercises you can do together with your child (or they can do alone depending on the age or maturity of the child I guess)
the colours used for each emotion are excellent, they have a water colour effect and are not shouting in your face. The pictures are pleasant, really in style with the other ' The Little Prince' book series. The wording used is excellent, really well thought out and can be read over and over again. I think this book could be very useful for None verbal children, as they can point at the colours to tell caregivers / educators how they are feeling, as even on the cover the colours have the words written into them making it understandable straight away for everyone.
I do think that this book could even be aimed at children from 2 years old, as even thought some things they wont totally understand yet, they will be able to get used to the words and colours corresponding to it and when caregivers / educators use this colour system during the day, I think it could really improve the mental wellbeing of the child.
I'm giving this book 5 out of 5 stars.
Miigweetch to Netgalley, Chouette Publishing, and CrackBoom! Books for the DRC.
This is a great first book about feelings, and does a good job of using simple, straightforward language to talk about feelings. Each feeling is associated with a color and there are exercises for children to practice working out their big feelings. I believe that “The Little Prince” theme is more for the adults reading this to children, as I think the target audience is too young to have engaged with the novel in a meaningful way yet, but I could be mistaken. Having said that, I'm a huge fan of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry so obviously I enjoyed the artwork a great deal. It's a win for me!
Overall I recommend this book and think it would be a good tool for counselors or others who work with small children who are just beginning to become self-aware and may need guidance to label their feelings.
This book was great for explaining emotions to younger kids. My son is 5 and I probably wouldn’t have read it to someone younger than that. I love how the emotions were color coded and each one had an explanation on what it is. After it explained the emotion the Little Prince would have a picture showing what the emotion was for him. Then it asked you if you ever experienced that emotion. My favorite part has to be the questions. I love getting my son involved with reading so that he understands what I’m saying and that he’s paying attention. Some of the pictures with the Little Prince didn’t make sense, like him getting angry because the rose didn’t speak nice to him. In reality flowers don’t talk back, so I can see that being confusing for a child. I also liked that at the ending you had exercises your child could do to help combat tough emotions like sadness and anger. Overall I feel like it’s a good learning tool, but I would just be prepared to explain more in detail about the Little Prince.
I loved the different colors that represented different feelings and emotions. I think this is a great little book for all kinds of kids.
My children were not fans. But don't let that turn you away from this wonderful little book. They felt upset with the age old reaffirming that certain colors are associated with certain feelings. My oldest loves red, so to see Anger labelled with her favorite color was slightly off putting. Aside from the color association, this was a beautiful read. The illustrations were whimsical and gave a nod to the original source. The words were easy to understand for young readers. Overall, it's an amazing resource to help little ones navigate their emotions in a healthy way.
Bonus content in the back:
The book ends with 4 different activities to help you move through your emotions. Similar to the yoga books we have, it helps ground you and center on how emotions are rooted in the body as well as the mind.
A definite grab if you have little ones with world sized emotions. <3
This book describes seven feelings and asks readers to interact with the book by sharing their experiences of each feeling. As a school social worker, I loved the interaction component of this book. However, the book talked about positive emotions. When teaching about emotions, I am hesitant to label emotions as positive or negative. The mindfulness exercises at the conclusion of the book were also fun and interactive.
This book is a great way to help little kids understand and process big feelings. Using colors for associate feelings helps them communicate when they don’t have the words. I liked the questions with each emotion/color to make the story engaging. The breathing exercises at the end were great too.
a cute and easy read for children to help them understand and identify their feelings and emotions. It's readable fairly quickly which adds to the quality of the book.
I loved the illustrations, they are some of my favorite from children's books. This book covers a good range of emotions, that small children (and even adults) may have trouble expressing in a healthy way. The color coding is a nice touch, especially for kids who can't read yet. I loved the exercises included at the end.
