This one was a meh book for me. But unfortunately I can't put my finger on exactly why. But then a reader doesn't have to like every book.
'Breach' by Kelly Sokol. Wow. The writing is superb. Absolutely stupendous.
First, the story is so original and unique. It is not the same ol same ol tht's for sure. It's gritty, realistic, and beautiful. It feels like real life and you feel for the characters. I savored this book and mourned when the story ended. This is a story that will stay with me and Kelly Sokol is a writer I will search out.
This book arrived at a time when I was losing the fight. Feel defeated and also overwhelmed. This story broken my heart. It's harrowing, intense, and gritty but it renewed my will to continue fighting the good fight because those that do, do change the world for the better.
Jace and Marleigh are not easy to describe. Two tough-as-nails people. But Marleigh, wow Kelly captures the strength of a woman. A woman can hold a family together like nobody else. The author truly makes you know if you didn't already that the world is held up by women. There is so much to learn about life in this story, courage, perseverance, commitment, gratitude, and most of all compassion. Marleigh and Jace are fierce in their fight but wow has life been hard to both of them. I am going to reread this story again because I cried a bit and first it was so much I was deep into what Kelly Sokol was telling us and now I want to analyze her writing even more because this woman can write. It's not the type of love story I would be drawn to but it's the type of love story I loved.
Love triumphs. Love wins. In the end, love always will win and this story shows us that and more.

Marleigh Mulcahy had a plan for her life. She would continue to work in her Granddad’s boxing gym and at the local tattoo parlor while taking classes to become a hygienist. She certainly wasn’t looking for love. Enter Jace Holt, handsome, cocky, EOD specialist on leave from the Navy.
The beauty of Marleigh and Jace’s love story was so real, it took me back to my own youth. But even as I followed the story their happiness, I couldn’t deny the premonition of sadness for what I felt was to come. The beauty of this book is that it recounts so adeptly all the beauty, grief and hope of love and real life.
