Elin Hilderbrand is the QUEEN of beach reads and you can't change my mind. I love each book she writes. I also love that, along with the story, she has created a town of sorts on Nantucket, continually bringing back recurring characters, including those who she has written about in the past. It brings a sense of nostalgia and fond remembrance for her previous books, while making us fall in love with a new character/family. And the ghost story part of this book?? I love ghost stories, but I was hesitant to read this one because that seems very out of EH's comfort zone. But it worked! I loved this book so much.
This audiobook archived before I was about to listen to it. Hopefully I'll be able to get it from my library in the future.
*Thank you @hachetteaudio for the audiobook in exchange for an honest review. Review not posted to Amazon/Goodreads because less than 4 stars or DNF.*
Elin Hilderbrand is the queen of summer fiction and this in Audiobook was perfect to listen to. Brilliant narrator, great storyline, and perfect escapsim.
I can always count on Elin Hilderbrand when looking for the perfect beach read, and THE HOTEL NANTUCKET might be my favorite!
It’s Summer on the island of Nantucket, as the newly renovated Nantucket Hotel is all the buzz in town, and ready for the grand re-opening. Filled with likable characters, and plenty of mystery too, as the ghost of a young woman haunts the grounds of the hotel, hoping to tell her story and solve her murder.
While I’ve yet to visit the beautiful historic seaside town of Nantucket, I felt like I traveled there while reading, and getting the layout of everything, including the delicious food descriptions and scenery which I loved.
I was also gifted the audiobook which was wonderful! Narrated by Erin Bennett, one of my favorites!
*many thanks to Little Brown and Hachette Audio for the gifted book and audiobook
This was my first book by Elin Hilderbrand and I will definitely be checking out more! I really loved seeing them bring this beautiful hotel to life again while also having elements of a mystery on who the secret reviewer will be and adding the ghost perspective! Such a fun summer read!
I am guilty of not reading anything by Elin Hilderbrand before something I will have to rectify.
This was a wonderful narrated audiobook, I was able to sit back and enjoy the story.
I will definitely be seeking more of Elin Hilderbrand’s work and anything narrated by Erin Bennett, I just don’t think I can go wrong.
I always look forward to Elin Hilderbrand's summer book and this one didn't disappoint. Lizbet Keaton and her boyfriend owned and operated the most popular restaurant in Nantucket. When he fools around with his wine distributor, she leaves and is hired as the general manager of the Hotel Nantucket, London billionaire, Xavier Darling purchased and renovated the historic Gilded Age gem and it is up to Lizbet and her staff to get the highest rating from Shelly Carpenter, the secretive Instagram star who can make the Hotel Nantucket, the place to be. There is also a bit of a ghost story, involving with a maid, Grace, who was accidentally burned alive in an attic room years before.
I really enjoyed this story, it has a little of everything. It has some romance, a mystery, a ghost who is quite humorous and helpful, friendship, heartbreak, secrets and lots of summer antics. The characters are all wonderful, likable (except a couple of the guests) and well developed. I think I liked Grace the best. She narrated several chapters with her own perspective. We learned about the hotel over the years, as well as her protectiveness of staff and guests when needed. She often had me chuckling. The staff were varied, and were all there for different reasons. Several were not very likable when the story started, but they all showed their true colours eventually and all wanted the hotel to succeed. Most of them had secrets, that are gradually revealed as the story progresses. Then there were the guests. There was a family that stayed with their dog, and they became part of the Hotel family. This was such a delightful beach read, with lots of heart, and stories. Will they achieve the rating they want? Will they ever find out what really happened to Grace? Will Xavier ever show up to the hotel? Will the hotel become the destination they are all working so hard to achieve? Read this book to find out and take a virtual trip to Nantucket. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Erin Bennett and she does an amazing job bringing this story to life. I definitely recommend this book and/or audiobook for a wonderful summer/beach/poolside read.
This was another enjoyable summer in Nantucket with Elin Hilderbrand. This took romance, a strong female leader, and a ghost. I would love to visit a hotel like the Hotel Nantucket.
Lizbet is hired as the General Manager to pull together a successful first season at the refurbished Hotel Nantucket with a staff of misfits. The goal is to receive a 5-Key rating from a famous hotel blogger.
I really enjoyed the background stories of the various characters and storylines. It was a perfect summer read and the diverse characters.
I also was given the audiobook. I enjoyed the narration by Erin Bennett and felt like she did a good job bring the story to life.
Thank you to @netgalley @littlebrown and @hachetteaudio for a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
FIVE HOTEL KEYS to the Hotel Nantucket! What a delightful summer read!
The Hotel Nantucket has changed hands many times since the 1920s when Grace Hadley, a chambermaid, died in a hotel fire.
But it is now is renovated and glorious and ready for guests. The #1 goal of the new owner is the obtain the elusive FIVE KEY RATING from renowned hotel blogger Shelly Carpenter.
Throughout the summer, we meet the staff and many guests and find out their secrets. We also meet the ghost of Grace, whose presence as a narrator is was one of my favorite parts of the book. The way she toyed with the guests and staff made me laugh. She just wanted redemption and could not let got of the hotel.
As always, the setting and scenery are amazing. I would love to visit Nantucket and get my hands on the "Blue Book" so I could discover all the places and things.
Hilderbrand dropped a few surprises I didn't expect. I did figure out the identify of Shelly prior to the end, but that didn't take away from my delight in who it was! All in all a perfect summer read!
Many thanks to Netgalley & Hatchette Audio for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review!

I absolutely loved this audiobook!
The narrator was excellent and kept me enthralled . I loved the characters including the quirkiness of them. I felt like the details of the book helped me imagine the hotel itself., inviting readers in.
Elin Hilderbrand is the queen of beach reads, and she did not disappoint with The Hotel Nantucket. Set in a restored hotel on Nantucket Island, this book had everything I look for in a summer read including romance, drama, and found family. I just knew I was going to love it!
I work in hotels so always love books set in them. I enjoyed when Lizbet was hiring her staff and the training they went through to get the fifth key review they are expected to receive by the hotel owner, Xavier. This was written very well and definitely reminded me of every day hotel life!
I wasn’t sure how Grace, the ghost of a chambermaid killed in the hotel 100 years earlier, would fit into the story. At first I thought including a ghost would hurt my rating, but it all came together so well in the end that Hilderbrand earned the fifth key from me!
Thank you NetGalley and Hachette Audio for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
EXCERPT: 'I'm calling to shed some light on things that might have been unclear.'
Lizbet steels herself. What is Xavier going to tell her?
'You've never asked me - in fact, no one has asked me - why I bought this hotel. After all, I live in London and I've never visited Nantucket.' He pauses. 'Have you wondered about this?'
Lizbet has, in fact, wondered, but she chalked it up to her understanding of the very wealthy: they buy things because they can.
'I bought this particular hotel,' Xavier says, 'because I'm trying to impress two women.'
Whoa! Lizbet pinches her thigh to keep from gasping. This is probably the only answer worth sacrificing her thirty minute hip-hop ride with Alex Toussaint for.
'Two women?' Lizbet says. She checks her image on her laptop screen; she's maintaining a sort of straight face. Lizbet has, naturally, Googled Xavier Darling. According to an article in the Times (London), he never married and has no children. The internet showed pictures of him at the Royal Ascot and the Cartier Queen's Cup with young, combatively beautiful women on his arm, but never the same one twice. Who are the lucky two, and will they both be coming to Nantucket?
ABOUT 'THE HOTEL NANTUCKET': After a tragic fire in 1922 that killed 19-year-old chambermaid, Grace Hadley, The Hotel Nantucket descended from a gilded age gem to a mediocre budget-friendly lodge to inevitably an abandoned eyesore — until it's purchased and renovated top to bottom by London billionaire, Xavier Darling. Xavier hires Nantucket sweetheart Lizbet Keaton as his general manager, and Lizbet, in turn, pulls together a charismatic, if inexperienced, staff who share the vision of turning the fate of the hotel around. They face challenges in getting along with one another (and with the guests), in overcoming the hotel's bad reputation, and in surviving the (mostly) harmless shenanigans of Grace Hadley herself — who won't stop haunting the hotel until her murder is acknowledged.
MY THOUGHTS: A perfectly lovely summer read with a little romance, a little crime, a little deception, a little haunting, a little heartbreak, and a whole lot of developing friendships.
The Hotel Nantucket is one of those reads that had me smiling throughout, even when things weren't going exactly as they should. The cast of characters are mostly likeable and are an interesting mix. The story is told in the third person from a number of pov, but never gets confusing.
Grace the ghost brings much to the story. Her antics when trying to defuse a situation often had me chuckling. She also provides insight into the changes in society over the intervening hundred years between her death and this reincarnation of the hotel. She develops a protective attitude to others on the staff who have had their hearts broken and gives some relationships a ghostly nudge.
Lizbet has had her heart broken by her personal and business partner of fifteen years, JJ, hence the move to hotel management.
Magda English, the head of housekeeping, has a mysterious past and is so much more than she appears to be on the surface.
Chad Winslow is Magda's emergency maid hire. He's from a wealthy family who summers on the island and she doubts he will last more than a few days which is why she names him 'Longshot'. But, he may just surprise her, and himself.
The two women on front desk could hardly be more different. Alessandra speaks five languages fluently and has travelled the world, but she is a chancer. Edie is a local girl, a graduate of Cornell, with a huge heart but who is desperate for money.
And then there's Kimber, a walk in guest with two children who both play a large part in the story, a dog, and wads of cash. She is perhaps the most enigmatic character of all.
Everyone has a story, and over the course of this enchanting read, we learn them all, including that of the hotel which is a character in its own right.
Erin Bennett narrated superbly.
A fun and engaging read.

Summer just isn't summer unless I've held an Elin Hilderbrand book in my hand...or listened to one! I absolutely loved The Hotel Nantucket along with its whole cast of characters. It doesn't take long to want Lizbet and her team to win that fifth key from hotel blogger Shelly Carpenter. Has Shelley even come to the hotel this summer? What is Alessandra really up to? And how cute is Wanda with her Nancy Drew mysteries and her brother with his chess playing? And will the resident ghost, Grace Hadley, ever feel like she's been acknowledged? I could go on and on about everyone and all the Nantucket gossip but I'll let you dig into it yourself! If you're anything like me, you're gonna love it!
The Hotel Nantucket truly is Elin Hilderbrand at her very best! I read/listened to the audio and feel like the narrator did an amazing job too.
Thank you, NetGalley and Hatchett Audio, Little Brown Books, for allowing me to review this amazing audiobook.
Published 14 June 2022.
I love books that draw me in and cause me to connect emotionally with the characters so that I care about their outcomes. Elin Hilderbrand does just that with her latest novel, 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙃𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙡 𝙉𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙩, making this the perfect beach read! The island of Nantucket is the ideal setting for this character-driven novel that also has a strong plot line.
SHORT SUMMARY:
🌺When Lizbet Keaton catches her long-time boyfriend cheating, she breaks up with him and needs a fresh start.
🌺She accepts a job as manager of a beautiful resort hotel, which has changed ownership several times and needs a major overhaul.
🌺Lizbet reports to a millionaire who funds the changes and insists that she makes sure the hotel receives a coveted “5 key review” from a major influencer who often visits resorts incognito.
🌺The hotel has a ghost, Grace, who died in a fire at the hotel in 1922. Grace enjoys watching guests and is known to create a few distractions.
🌺Lizbet hires her staff and soon opening day arrives along with an assortment of guests.
🌺Both guests and staff have interesting stories that make for a beautiful and emotional read!
MY THOUGHTS: I really enjoyed Lizbet’s storyline and I felt her emotional struggles as she mourned the loss of one love and considered a new one. I also appreciated the storylines of the other characters and had no trouble following them or keeping up with who each character was. I also loved the light paranormal addition of the ghost, Grace. The story followed the characters over one summer at the hotel. By the end of the summer, each character had grown in some way and the storylines were neatly tied together. (Other characters are listed in the comments.)
My thanks to @hachetteaudio and @netgalley for my audiobook. My thoughts are my own.
Elin Hilderbrand is a master at weaving tales with strong characters and elusive events. This book was no different. Told from various perspectives, she ensure that while there is a lot happening throughout the book, she ties it up beautifully in the end, of course, in the sweetest way possible! I love all her books and this newest release is no different!
The Hotel Nantucket (AUDIO) introduces this rundown hotel that has been purchased by a billionaire from England and is being refurbished. Many of the locals think it is a waste of time as it’s haunted. But more important than that are the people, including the ghost, who staff the small hotel. It’s manager is a local girl, if one counts 15 years as local. She is not a hotelier but is very conversant with the hospitality business having run a local, very popular, eatery, the Deck. The story is interesting as it is compiled stories of the people who work there and a few snippets of other Nantucket residents’ stories. They are are motley group, but all interesting in doing their very best. To add to that, the owner, Xavier, offers a weekly $1000 bonus awarded based on reviews on an Internet site. Lisbet, the manager, is not thrilled with this as she has been trying to install team work and not competition. The front desk manager has an interesting way of getting mentions and earns four of the coveted $1,000 awards before others join in the accoladesm mostly because she stopped what she had been doing. The other front desk clerk is Edie, known around town as Sweet Edie-that says it all. Two of the three doormen/bellhops, Raoul and Adam, were a married couple, men, who based on reference calls, needed to never be on the same shift. The third was a local boy, Zeke, wanting to make good. His aunt was the housekeeping manager, and a more exacting supervisor than Magda never existed. There is more and it is mostly entertaining, although at one point I thought that this book was filled with negativity, not Hilderbrand’s normal style. Shortly after, it turned a corner.
The sketches of each of the staff opened us to their stories and how they fit together to make as cohesive a unit as there had ever been. Considering what a night at the Hotel Nantucket cost, everything needed to be not only beautiful, but every detail must be attended to with pleasure and genuine smiles. The goal was the coveted five keys from a popular hotel reviewer/blogger, something that had never been given. The reasons for missing the five keys were usually minor, for instance, a pen that was out of ink. There were checklists that must be attended to at every workstation. The bar/lounge was not under Lisbet’s purview. The chef/manager there was a long-standing Nantucket personality, Mario Subiaco, was perfection itself, both in the kitchen and in the bedroom, as Lisbet discovered. The ghost was a nice touch and a terrific character. I enjoyed her as did many of the guests.
Erin Bennett is the narrator and she beings a no-nonsense vibe to the reading, which is compatible with the no-nonsense running of the hotel. She doesn’t resort to tricks to portray the variety of characters and makes it a joy to listen to.
I was invited to listen to an e-ARC audio of The Hotel Nantucket by Hachette Audio, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #netgalley #hachette #erinhilderbrand #thehotelnantucket
This is my favorite Elin Hilderbrand EVER. As usual, Elin’s storytelling revolves around a large cast of characters, this time employees of The Hotel Nantucket. #partner @littlebrown
As we spend a summer with the staff and select hotel guests, we get to see what goes on behind the scenes of a luxury hotel. We see romances unfold and fall apart multiple scandals, demanding guests, and a ghost story!
I love how everyone’s stories folded together while revolving around the glorious hotel. If only I could visit this beach town resort this summer!
Such a fun read and wonderful audiobook! Listening to this while being in Nantucket last week was a dream! It has all of Elin’s captivating plot lines and characters, along with the gorgeous setting. Her descriptions of a place make me want to move wherever she is writing about!
As always, Elin Hilderbrand never disappoints! As I listened to this audiobook poolside, I fell in love with the staff at the Hotel Nantucket. It was so cleverly crafted, and I’m hoping there will be a sequel because I adored the characters that much. If you need a summer title, go grab this one!
