Many thanks to NetGalley, Little, Brown and Company and Hachette Audio for gifting me both a digital and audio ARC of the latest book by Elin Hilderbrand, narrated by Erin Bennett - 5 stars for a book that must be in your beach bag this summer!
A fire in 1922 killed chambermaid Grace Hadley, and as the hotel as fell into ruins since then, it is rumored that Grace haunts the hotel to this day. Then London billionaire, Xavier Darling, purchases the hotel and makes it into a stunning showpiece - his goal is to achieve the coveted 5 keys from a social media hotel influencer. Xavier hires Lizbet, a staple on Nantucket, to be the general manager and she assembles an eclectic staff. Grace, meanwhile, is determined that the truth be told about her death.
As in all Hilderbrand's books, this one is an ode to summer and I absolutely adored it. The characters were all fun and the different points of view (including Grace's) kept me racing to the end. It had the perfect touch of emotion, romance, and did I mention summer?
The narration was spot on and I loved listening to it!
The Hotel Nantucket was a great read by Elin Hilderbrand. In 1922, 19 year old chambermaid Grace Hadley was killed in a tragic fire. The hotel became a mediocre budget-friendly lodge and an eyesore. That is until it is purchased and renovated top to bottom by London billionaire, Xavier Darling. He hires Lizbet Keaton, Nantucket sweetheart, as his general manager. She then pull together a charismatic staff that want to turn the hotel around. Grace Hadley continues to haunt the hotel until her murder is acknowledged. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
What a fun read! Make a place near the top of your To Be Read pile for this. Elin Hilderbrand's story of The Hotel Nantucket is a refreshing oasis of luxury and allowed an escape without getting on a plane. Her Lizbet Keaton is tackling a huge project - becoming the general manager of a Gilded Age hotel - and has to not only deal with her cheating ex, but also the hotel's billionaire owner and various eccentric hotel guests. Oh, and did I mention the place is haunted? It's a fun book, and I enjoyed it immensely. If I were planning a beach vacation, this would definitely be in the bag.
This was the first audiobook that I have heard of by this well renowned author, and I really enjoyed it!
I don’t know what I expected apart from the blurb, but I think I thought it would be more ‘fluffy’ than it actually was., which was a great surprise.
I like the way the author wrote the book and described the series of events and how/why they unfolded.
I will definitely be looking out for more works by Elin Hilderbrand!
Want to go to the Northeast coast and lounge in a beach chair with the wind rustling the grasses and you with no problems in the world, except perhaps your children getting a sunburn? Enter The Hotel Nantucket which offers the best fix for a the closest thing to an actual vacation!
I completely reveled in this hotel drama where we meet and follow the handful of employees, vacationeers and even the resident ghost that may or may not haunt this newly remodeled hotel. The Hotel Nantucket has been in dreary disarray for years when it's finally picked up by a millionaire with cash to drop and completely bring this hotel up to par and try to compete with the other opulent hotels on the island.
Something different that this book did that I rather enjoyed was we got the big EVENT shown to us, where someone was fired, or quit etc and we don't know why and it seems a bit unreasonable! Then the book rewinds and shows us the lead up to that event and why it unfolded the way it did. I thought it was such a fun and clever way to introduce big events, and perhaps even to help aid in a bit of compassion and recognition that we don't always know the background story!
The PERFECT summer beach read!
Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for the advance audio book.
Can I give this book 10 stars? "The Hotel Nantucket" has quickly joined my list of my favorite books of all time. It made me laugh, cry, swoon, and deeply feel for every character, even the flawed ones.
"The Hotel Nantucket" is about what the title says- a hotel! The hotel is an eye sore until Billionaire, Xavier, buys it and has it redone to a luxury hotel. Xavier says he bought the hotel to impress two women, one is not named, and the other is a mysterious blogger who rates hotels with keys. Xavier wants his hotel to get the elusive 5th key, but the blogger has never given more than four before.
To accomplish his goal, Xavier hires Lizbet, who is beloved in the community, as his General Manager. Lizbet is getting over a nasty break-up after her longtime partner cheated on her. Lizbet hires many "characters" to work in the hotel, and as the story progresses, you fall in love with all of them!
My personal favorite character is the ghost, Grace Hadley, who died in a fire in the hotel in 1922. She has to haunt the Hotel Nantucket until her murder is solved. Getting to hear the story, and creep through the walls of the hotel, from a ghost's perspective was so fun!
Overall, I can't rave enough about this book! It is a simply a must read. I truly can't think of one bad thing to say. It is perfect! I should note, I listened to the audiobook, and Erin's Bennett's narration is wonderful!
Thank you to Hachette Audio, and Little, Brown & Company via Netgalley for the copy in exchange for an honest review.
Elin Hilderbrand has a a way within pages getting you invested… whether it’s the setting or characters, for me it’s always both. The Nantucket Hotel was beyond charming… it had me reflecting on my stays at resorts and the hospitality I’ve received and to say I wish I could book a stay and play chess in the lobby with the Kimber’s son, read Nancy Drew with her daughter, get into some shenanigans with the hotel ghost Grace and then partake in the whip cream concierge is an understatement! I loved these characters by the end of the book I had the biggest smile on my face! She does it again!
Is it summer? It must be because Elin's new Nantucket book is almost out.
Every year, I wait (in)patiently for her new story. I have enjoyed so many of her other books and she always amazes me with how she is able to transport me to Nantucket, a place I have never been (but I want to go).
So what did Elin have in mind for this novel? Well, I would say that she centers the storyline on the people working at the Hotel Nantucket. The hotel was an eyesore until British billionaire, Xavier Darling decides to buy it and renovate it in the most luxurious way. He hires Lizbet Keaton as his general manager. He tells her that he bought the hotel to impress two women. One of them is a mysterious blogger who rates hotels as Keys. No hotel has been able to get the 5 Keys. Darling wants the Hotel Nantucket to be the first. He doesn't tell Lizbet who the other woman is.
Lizbet decides to apply for the job after she discovered her boyfriend and chef of their restaurant sexting with another woman. No one on the island would have thought that they would break up after so many years. Liz knows she needs a change and demonstrating to the world that she can make the hotel a success becomes her next goal. She hires quite a few people and she is happy with her choices although she doesn't know the secrets they are keeping. Thankfully, the readers will get to discover all of them one by one including the person responsible for the death of a chambermaid killed in 1922 who has been haunting the hotel since her death.
My new favorite Elin Hilderbrand's audiobook!! Erin Bennet's masterful narration does a wonderful job of bringing these characters and Nantucket to life.
I liked all the characters but I guess my favorites were Lizbet, Longshot, and the kids. I also loved how Elin incorporated some of her past characters from other books into this one. I always like to know how those characters are doing. In this case, Fast Eddie made a few appearances.
In addition to writing a fun and entertaining story, Elin gives us at the end of the book a list of places to visit in Nantucket. I know I will need it when I go. I just don't know if I want to go in the summer or for Christmas.
Cliffhanger: No
5/5 Fangs

Lizbet Keaton is fresh from fleeing her cheating ex when she hears that the infamous Hotel Nantucket is reopening and looking for a general manager. It’s just the opportunity she is after for the next chapter in her life. But some say the hotel is haunted, some say cursed and every one who works there has a secret to hide….
I am writing this review with one chapter of the audiobook left because in all honesty, I am not ready for it to be over. I LOVED this audiobook so much and I am sure it will be my favourite audiobook of the year. As they say, the devil is in the detail and for me it’s the details in the writing that made me fall in love with this book. It’s so full of interesting quirks and details that I felt like I was staying at the hotel and then jealous when I realised I wasn’t. I wanted to drink coffee in the lobby and side eye Alessandra. I wanted to head to the Blue Bar and eat all of the delicious food described in the story and drink my weight in Heartbreaker cocktails. Most of all, I wanted to befriend Grace and get up to some mischief together. I loved every staff member because of the way they were written; nuanced and relatable. I was rooting for each of them and really cared about the five keys
I enjoyed the epistolary excerpts of emails, gossipy newsletters and playlists which enhanced the plot.
Really, it was a joy to listen to and the narrator was so skilled and bringing the story to life with accents as well. She really drew me in to the book and kept me listening and reluctant to press pause.
The Hotel Nantucket is the perfect beach read and I am left wondering why I have never read Elin Hilderbrand before. It’s a mistake I intend to correct and work my way through all her books. I can’t recommend this audiobook enough.
Thank you to Elin Hilderbrand, Hachette Audio and NetGalley for the opportunity to review an advanced copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
I mean is it even summer without a new Hilderbrand Nantucket-centric women's fiction to add to the pile? Elin takes a bit of a departure, adding the supernatural element of a ghostly central character and to be honest she was more than welcome. I was left with the desire to pack up everything and start fresh off the coast of Massachusetts in a Lilly Pulitzer dress which I assume is exactly what Hildebrand was aiming for, so job well done 4⭐️
This was a perfect summer beach read. It's not a romance. It's not a thriller. I despise the idea of "women's fiction" because what does that even mean?
The characters are compelling and I enjoyed following their adventures and growth.
Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for the ARC.
As a Massachusetts resident keenly aware of what Nantucket represents as part of our history-an historic community, the playground of the rich and famous, I approached this title with some curiosity. Hilderbrand is a distinguished author and I was curious about this title. Initially I started the audiobook version because I had finished my latest book and wanted something quick to listen to. However, I was quickly and surprisingly drawn into the entertaining story and actually needed to keep reading to find out what was going to happen to the zany cast of characters who work at and stay at the newly refurbished Hotel Nantucket. There is something for everyone in this story- Lizbet Keaton who has grown up on the island accepts the position as general manager of the Hotel as a way to assuage her recent heartbreak and is forced to pull together a ragtag group of locals to open the hotel for the summer season. Xavier Darling, the hotel's new owner who challenges Lizbet to make the Hotel Nantucket worthy of securing the famous Five Keys in a review by a mysterious travel writer. Helping to advance this goal is my favorite character Grace who is the hotel ghost and former chambermaid who died tragically in a fire at the hotel 100 years ago. While having a great deal of fun learning about the ins and outs of working in a hotel and catering to the almost impossible demands of the Nantucket clientele I gained appreciation for Hilderbrand's excellent writing style. The audiobook narration provides the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a frothy summer by the ocean.

I love Elin's writing. This book is no different. I wasn't sure if I would like the "ghost" character, but she wrote it perfectly!!! With that said there are so many characters to follow in this book. She wrote in such a way that it was easy to follow. I also did this as an audiobook, I love how she uses the same narrator for each. You feel comfortable with her reading style and who else will know Elin's books better??
Wonderful book, great for summer reading!
Obsessed with The Hotel Nantucket! I’ve read all of Elin Hilderbrand’s books, and this ranks in my top 3 favorites. I loved reading the behind the scenes of running the hotel, and all juicy drama the guests brought. All of the employees had a secret this summer, and I loved the way they all unraveled through this amazing story. The audio version and narrator are also excellent. 5 keys for this outstanding novel!
The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand
Lizbet Keaten is recovering from a disastrous long term relationship and is looking for a new start. She finds out that the Hotel Nantucket has a new billionaire owner and is looking for a manager to run the place. Xavier Darling is the billionaire owner who sets a task for Lizbet to get the 5 key rating for the hotel.
Lizbet sets out to hire a bunch of interesting people to work at the hotel the pay is great. So many characters but my favorite is Grace the ghost that soul was still there after a fire when she was 19 she died there and from that point she has haunted the hotel.
This was a fun beach/summer read it was entertaining and the cast of characters kept you in your toes as you read the book. Will The Hotel Nantucket beat the past of failing and finally see success and will the receive the golden ticket 5 key rating? You need to read this entertaining book to find out about the history of Hotel Nantucket and see what happens when the hotel is brought back to life. Will grace move on to the other side?
The hotel Nantucket is a page turner and keeps you entertained with a few twists? Lizbet success is a must for her to get that fresh start will she succeed or will the past continue to haunt The Hotel Nantucket.
Elin Hilderbrand did a great job writing this fantastic story and did the narration extremely well the characters came to life as well as the Hotel itself you feel like you are there at the Hotel Nantucket.
I recommend this book if you like a good summer read and like women's fiction. This was a 4.5 star read for me.
Thanks to Netgalley and Hatchette Audio for a free audio version of this book for an honest review.
Another entertaining novel from one of my favorite authors, Elin Hilderbrand!
Audiobook is excellent, as usual!
It's all about saving the one hundred year-old Hotel Nantucket that has fallen into total disrepair. Enter Xavier Darling, multi-billionaire from London to swoop in and buy the property and spare no expense to refurbish it like never before. Gradually Xavier hires local staff after he fills the General Manger position with island favorite, Lizbet Nnnn. It's rumored that Xavier only bought the hotel to try and win the Five Keys rating from a notorious media critc who has never rewarded five keys before.
The characters are wonderful, and often have their own private reasons for working at the hotel. The renovations go smoothly and the hotel opens successfully with its cracker-jack staff. Romances happen, no one gets murdered, but a delightful ghost named Grace visits only the few that can sense her. Even though her demise was in the long-ago fire that destroyed the original hotel, Grace means no harm. She likes to have fun with some of the guests by blinking their room lights, causing a little chill here and there but all in good spirits!
Secrets are revealed in the ending, often a few delightful ones. Even Grace finds out information she's long wanted to hear. Enjoy the fun and don't miss the lat chapter, The Blue Book, where Elin recommends her personal favorites on the island of Nantucket. A little guide book about restaurants, beaches, hotels, shopping, baked goods, etc.; all the key essentials to a fabulous vacation stay.
If you love Nantucket and plan to visit that last chapter is huge bonus!
Thank you Netgalley, and Little, Brown and Co.; and Elin Hilderbrand.
Five golden stars!
I absolutely loved this book. Every single bit of the gossip and the drama was perfection. I did like the audiobook version and will recommend to people through Libro.fm, and will for sure recommend the physical book to anyone looking for a dishy, gossipy, drama filled summer read! I have read 2 other Elin Hilderbrand books after this one because I, once again, can't get enough of her "fly on the wall" writing style, Nantucket Island itself as a character, and how real all of her characters are, flaws and all!
The Hotel Nantucket is an expertly crafted summer read. Every paragraph evokes the long summer days working a seasonal job. But this job is set in a 5 star hotel whose mission it is to get a 5 Key review from a Instagram influencer whose opinions will ensure the luxury resort sinks or swims. Likeable characters, mixed with lavish surroundings and even a lonely ghost add up to a uniquely, Nantucket Island read. Five Key review!
I had no idea what to expect going into The Hotel Nantucket, other than a typical Elin Hilderbrand Nantucket storyline. I was very pleasantly surprised and found myself invested in the story and the characters.
A ghost, a bit of mystery, some drama and a touch of romance make The Hotel Nantucket a place worth visiting!
Book: The Hotel Nantucket
Author: Elin Hilderbrand
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (3.5)
Pub Date: June 14, 2022
This was my first Elin Hilderbrand book and I have to say, it was not my favorite. It was a good storyline, however, there were way too many characters to keep track of which caused a lot of confusion. Many of the characters had secrets that they were keeping and I wasn't truly invested in any of the characters storylines as they kept jumping back and forth. I would have enjoyed it more if there wasn't so much going on.
Synopsis: In 1922, a tragic fire at The Hotel Nantucket killed a chamber maid named Grace Hadley. The hotel was abandoned until it was purchased 100 years later by a London billionaire named Xavier Darling. Xavier purchased the hotel to impress 2 women, one of which was a widely known Instagram hotel reviewer named Shelly Carpenter. Xavier's goal was to get a 5 key rating from Shelly as she has never given a 5 key rating to anyone.
In order to turn the hotel around, Xavier hires Lizbet Keaton as the general manager. Lizbet then hires a staff who are charismatic and inexperienced. They all have complicated pasts, but they work together to turn The Hotel Nantucket around in order to get Shelly's 5 key rating. With Grace Hadley haunting the hotel and the staff harboring secrets, will they be able to pull off a successful turnaround and a 5 key rating at The Hotel Nantucket?
