Book: The Hotel Nantucket
Author: Elin Hilderbrand
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (3.5)
Pub Date: June 14, 2022
This was my first Elin Hilderbrand book and I have to say, it was not my favorite. It was a good storyline, however, there were way too many characters to keep track of which caused a lot of confusion. Many of the characters had secrets that they were keeping and I wasn't truly invested in any of the characters storylines as they kept jumping back and forth. I would have enjoyed it more if there wasn't so much going on.
Synopsis: In 1922, a tragic fire at The Hotel Nantucket killed a chamber maid named Grace Hadley. The hotel was abandoned until it was purchased 100 years later by a London billionaire named Xavier Darling. Xavier purchased the hotel to impress 2 women, one of which was a widely known Instagram hotel reviewer named Shelly Carpenter. Xavier's goal was to get a 5 key rating from Shelly as she has never given a 5 key rating to anyone.
In order to turn the hotel around, Xavier hires Lizbet Keaton as the general manager. Lizbet then hires a staff who are charismatic and inexperienced. They all have complicated pasts, but they work together to turn The Hotel Nantucket around in order to get Shelly's 5 key rating. With Grace Hadley haunting the hotel and the staff harboring secrets, will they be able to pull off a successful turnaround and a 5 key rating at The Hotel Nantucket?

As it is with all Elin Hilderbrand books, you get many very interesting characters and often characters from other books make guest or lead appearances her latest novel. This time however, my overall favorite Character and storyline was definitely, "Grace, the ghost"!
Lots of intertwined story plots and as always the books is featured in Nantucket. We have multiple billionaires, one of which is from and center, one who you would never think of and one that finally does right by his son.
Enjoyed Lizbeths storyline of running the hotel as well as her new love story. Lots of strong female characters as well.
Would def recommend as a light summer beach read.
Overall rating 4.0
Thank you for my free pre release copy of the book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

I really enjoyed this book. I am a newer reader of Elin Hildebrand books and I have not been disappointed yet. This story is in her normal format of telling a story from many different sides (including a ghost this time as well). The characters are all very likable, even the ones you aren’t supposed to root for. The loose ends are always tied up in a way that you feel satisfied.
The hotel itself is described in a way that I would love to visit. The way she describes Nantucket in the summer makes me want to visit the area. I’m rather scared to though… if the residents there aren’t as special as the characters in her books, I will be so disappointed!
I like Erin Bennett’s narration. I was happy to hear her voice back for another Elin Hildebrand book. She’s become the voice of Nantucket for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for allowing me to review this book through an advance copy. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

It's not summer without a new Elin Hilderbrand book and a trip to Nantucket! I really liked the characters and the first summer season of the newly renovated Hotel Nantucket. I especially liked the ghost of Grace Hadley, a chambermaid who died in a fire at the hotel in 1922, who haunts the hotel to the delight of the guests. The audiobook was superbly narrated by Erin Bennett, who narrates Hilderbrand's previous novels as well. I know when I hear Bennett's voice, I'm in for a great listen! This is a great, fun read and a must for beach bags this summer!

I have enjoyed many if Elin Hilderbrand’s books. This book was also very enjoyable. The narration by Erin Bennet was great. The characters were quirky yet fun. The multiple story lines were creative. This will be a great summer listen.

The queen of summer reads has done it again! Hildebrand draws you in to charming Nantucket and makes you never want to leave

Once again, the author has set the mood for a summer read. Nantucket is the background for this book and the atmosphere of vacay and relaxation are provided by the staff of a hotel hoping to capitalize on service , friendliness and all that is associated with summer fun.
Romance, greed, love and tragedy are woven throughout the book. The characters are diverse, righteous, nice not so nice. It's another great beach read and makes you wish the summer was already here.
I listened to the audio version. The narrator added such depth to the reading of this book, making the story even more enjoyable!

I just couldn't get into this book or it's characters. The persons felt like clichés , unrealistic and annoying. The best character was the ghost!
Thank you NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.

Thank you Netgalley and thank you to the publisher for the audio and ebook ARCs!
This book was so good. I really loved the Winter in Paradise trilogy but this tops it. This is now my #1 favorite Hilderbrand. I know that people always call books unputdownable or people throw around the phase "I couldn't put it down"....but I really couldn't. I listened to the audiobook by itself at first but found it hard to follow the story with audio only due to there being so many characters. This could be because I am still fairly new to Hilderbrand- this is only my 5th out of her large backlist. I see that other readers have noted that some of the characters are in her other books also. So, it may be easier for someone who has read more of her books to follow along with a lot of the characters right away. Anyway, I started reading along in the ebook and I cannot love this book enough. If you love ghost stories and haunted house stories like I do, you will probably like this book just for that aspect of the story. All Grace's parts were my favorite parts!
(Although -this book is not horror by any means.) The other thing about this book is that it reads like a gossip column, which was SO much fun. If you like reading about celebrity or small town gossip, rich people drama, a little (but not all encompassing) romance, luxury hotels and detailed descriptions of opulent decorating thereof, or as I mentioned earlier- non scary/historical type ghost stories- I am sure that you will like this book!
Great narration on the audiobook also.
I just finished this book this morning and I have a book hangover. Will need to pick up more Hilderbrand ASAP. And I CANNOT WAIT to get my physical copy of this book.

Told from a variety of perspectives, The Hotel Nantucket is a sweeping story of a summer of rebuilding. Lizbet Keaton steps into a new role after learning that her years-long partner has cheated on her with the wine rep at their famed Nantucket restaurant. Determined to make her own way, she pours all of her energy into the hotel and does all that she can to inspire her staff to make it the best hotel possible. The absent billionaire owner has one mission: to earn a 5-key rating from an anonymous travel blogger and Lizbet makes it the foundation of the service the hotel provides. Perhaps the most delightful element of the story is the narration by Grace Hadley, a murdered former employee of the hotel. Her ghost story/perspective is woven throughout the novel successfully and joyfully.

Hilderbrand never fails to make a great story. This was such a nice summer read. I'll be recommending it to anyone who needs a book for the beach this summer!

Narrator 5 stars
Story 4 stars
There were so many characters in this book that at first it was hard to keep track of them, but the more you heard about them and their individual lives the better this book became.
This is the first time I've tried this author and I'll definitely be buying more from the kindle/audible store.

I received both the galley and the audio galley of this book and both were amazing. I really loved the narrator's voice and even though there are smaller storylines mixed into the larger one I did not find it hard to follow the audio version like I typically do.

I was gifted an ARC for both the kindle edition and audiobook edition of The Hotel Nantucket. I ended up mostly reading the book on my kindle because the audiobook was pretty much unbearable. I'm not sure if the audio downloaded funny on the NetGalley app or what but anything above 1.0 speed sounded robotic and fuzzy. I've never had that happen with an audiobook before. Since I also physically read this book I posted the review for that below.
The Hotel Nantucket was a sweet, easy read about a newly renovated hotel and it's staff in Nantucket. Initially I thought there were way too many characters being introduced and a few too many perspectives. It was hard to keep track of everyone at the beginning. I wish the chapters had been shorter and titled so they you knew which character's perspective you were reading and they weren't just all thrown into one big chapter. My other complaint was that I felt like the story moved slow and then kind of suddenly ended. I guess I wanted more ending and less fluff and definitely more of the mysterious Xavier. Overall I thought it was a cute book and an easy summer read. Lizbet, Edie, and Chad were definitely my favorite characters and I loved their stories. I hope there's a book 2 with them!

What an adventure! The audiobook is a great way to enjoy this novel with more twists than there rooms at the fictional hotel. The narrator has just the right voice and tone for the cast of colorful characters. The cast is large but easy to follow as they go about their duties — as odd as they may be! If you’re looking for a good escape, this is it.

I am an Elin groupie! I love her books and especially love to listen to them on audio. The Hotel Nantucket doesn't disappoint! It continues with the winning combination of a setting, cast, and plot that is extremely entertaining! If you too are an Elin groupie you will shriek when this book mentions Winter Street, the Blue Bistro and other beloved settings and characters from these books. All I can say is another home run from Elin! I loved this book as much as her others! Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the audio book.

Thank you Hatchette Audio and NetGalley for the advanced listening copy of The Hotel Nantucket. I have read a couple books by Elin Hilderbrand and have loved them, so when I saw this available I was very intrigued. Her stories are a great escape, and a nice change of pace from my typical read. I love how involved this book was, with unique and complex characters. They couldn’t be more different in some ways, but I enjoyed learning about all of their backstories and what they had been through to make them who they were. Even with the large group of characters, I didn’t feel confused or struggle to keep them straight. The narrator did a beautiful job of conveying emotions and telling this story in a captivating way. I am not typically in to supernatural, but the ghost aspect of this book worked well. I loved the ending and found myself smiling as I was listening to it all wrap up. Would definitely recommend this book and this author!

It's hard for me to write a review of Elin Hilderbrand's books because I just want to make it short and sweet and say it's amazing. Her books all amazing. Every one.
This book though, this one gets 10 out of 5 stars (or 5 keys if you will!). An old hotel getting a redo and a new chance with a whole bunch of wonderful characters running it, all with their own good, bad, and ugly stories to tell. But you fall in love with all of them. Like all of her books, the descriptions of what people are eating has me hungry every time, I don't even know what some of these foods are but I want to eat them. Now. And the descriptions of the decor is perfection too. There's joy, love, pride, adultery, ghosts, heartbreak, happiness, child chess prodigies and their own little Nancy Drew, and so much more.
Perfect, perfect book to start off your summer. You have to read it, you'll plow through it and wonder where your day went!
(Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for my honest feedback)

I LOVED this book. For years I have heard about Elin Hilderbrand and I cannot understand how it took me so long to finally read a book by this talented author. THE HOTEL NANTUCKET is entertaining, heartfelt, humorous, inventive, and satisfying. The protagonist of Lisbet is going through a crisis and reinvents herself as the GM of a newly renovated hotel on the island she loves. Every character has so much history, secrets and obstacles they want to hide or overcome, and the summer season in a gorgeous hotel seems just the place to rewrite their stories.
The most unique part of the book is that one of the key characters is Grace, a ghost, who died in a fire on the property many decades before. Her omnipresence, need to be acknowledged, and ultimately her support for this new team reviving a once beautiful gem, is refreshing and charming.
LOVED listening to THE HOTEL NANTUCKET! Very high quality narration from Erin Bennett!!

Thank you to NetGalley, Hachette Audio, and Elin Hilderbrand for an advance listening copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I went into this one blindly and it turned out to be just what I needed! What an absolutely perfect beach and summer read! I felt transported to Nantucket and loved getting to know this cast of quirky, but fun group of characters! The mystery aspect that was added to the story with Grace was fantastic as well. This narrator of this book was amazing so enjoyable and I really liked listening to them being Hildebrands story to life. You can pick up this book on 6/14/22!!
