I’ve found my new guilty pleasure.

Growing up alone in Honolulu, Cassidy Kelley has been trying to keep herself afloat for years. But a series of events have pushed her to leave her meager belongings and have brought her to Kauai and face to face with Knox Ramsey.

Knox is rich, powerful and gorgeous. He’s also one of the two Ramsey siblings who must marry into one of the other two rich and powerful families who live on the islands, otherwise a curse will descend on him and his family. But when he literally sees the woman of his dreams, Knox must choose between love and family.

Julie Capulet is an expert at intertwining sizzling hot steam, sweet moments and insta-love. I enjoyed getting to know the Ramsey’s as well as Cassidy and Knox’s romance.

Devil’s Angel is book 1 of the paradise series by author Julie Capulet. It is a standalone young adult romance, told from both points of view with a happy ending. Subgenres: insta-love | other woman drama | billionaire hero | virgin heroine

I really wanted to absolutely love this book. It started off with so much potential, even up to the point of the two MC’s meeting. I could honestly have seen it being adapted into a screenplay. However, upon meeting they both became completely one-dimensional. This the over-use of the specific term of endearment that he uses had me rolling my eyes every single time it was used. It was very predictable.
That being said, I did enjoy the story and the amount of smut was great.

It’s kind of difficult to rate this one because I loved the story but the writing didn’t do it justice… if that makes sense?

Cassidy is an orphan, she’s been alone her entire life, living off scraps, minimum wage jobs, dingy apartments and orphanages. Knox comes from a long line of wealth and rich families.

The story is set in Hawaii. Cassidy wins a plane ticket to Kauai in a poker game and drops everything and goes. She hides out in these caves and Knox finds her one day. Very very insta love.

Knox is apart of 1/3 powerful families in Hawaii and there’s a rule/curse that someone from each generation has to marry into one of the families (I don’t get how this works because if they intermarry generation after generation wouldn’t that become incest at some point? I digress). He falls in love with Cassidy, but he’s arranged to be married into one of the other families. I’m not going give more details than this because I’d ruin it. The story is really great. How everything plays out is great, there’s a HEA. But something about the writing was just off. The author goes into extensive detail about EVERYTHING. While that can be a good thing, I don’t need to know what every single side character looks like from the top of their head to the tips of their toes. I feel like she could have spent more time elaborating on the story or the epilogue rather than minute, unnecessary details. It’s still worth a read though.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’ll be honest here and say that this cover is what won me over on this one. I. Love. This. Cover. 💗
Julie Capulet is new to me. She wrote a dreamy, smexy, insta-love that just hit the spot. I’m a mood reader and my job is pretty stressful, so my favorite romance was what this one was. Great chemistry and I loved how much they wanted each other. This whole family seems interesting and Im intrigued.
This is only book one of a series and Im excited about book two.
I highly recommend if you just want to escape for while.
Thanks Julie Capulet via NetGalley.

This book was a fun, summer read. I loved the atmosphere it was set in. Hawaii is not the typical setting for romances and I though it was very ingenious the set a reverse harem in “paradise”. Of course the main characters seem to be a bit more nightmarish than the setting provides. From the get go, a kind of paramilitary setting is established. Maybe some people like romances where the gauge of bullet determines how hot or scorching the romance is but it wasn’t what I was hoping for. There was a lot of talk of intrigue and mafia-style politics. The language used by the author was cliche and sometimes predictable. I enjoyed this in the way one enjoys candy—a bit guiltily. I wish that the author had gone through several more rounds of revision but this was a solid guilty pleasure read.

I was provided a e-galley and voluntarily reviewed the book honestly.

A fairytale book, definitely for adults only! Arranged marriages in the modern world can cause chaos, and in this case it definitely does. A thrilling read about the three families involved and the lives around them that are impacted. I loved the way the relationships are entangled and the backstories that are revealed.

I have to say I didn't enjoy this, I was tempted to not finish it, but I don't like to review a book I haven't finished so I read the whole thing.
The book is very predictable, I could figure out the ending just a few pages in I kept waiting for it to surprise me but alas it didn't happened.

The MMC Knox sounds cool at the beginning with strong convictions and personality, but once Cassidy appears in his life he lose all his personality, and all his character is about how much he loves her, and the same with Cassidy they annulled each other to become a simple vessel for their love, there is nothing to their personalities apart from each other.

The story is about Knox and Cassidy's instant love but there is an alliance/curse between the three families that hold the power, one of this families is Knox's, and because of this they have to Intermarriage to keep the alliance/curse. All well and good, even tho if you think about it after a few generations of 3 families Intermarriaging at this point they must all be family already and therefore Intermarriage would be pointless and possibly incest. I could imagine that Cassidy the FMC orphan that doesn't belong to this 3 families would end up being someone lost daughter, but I still hoped for them to fight the curse, but instead of fighting the curse and break it and live happily, she just end up being the solution of all the problems as she can marry for love and fulfil the curse, at the same time.
There is no challenge, they change nothing at the end the curse is still in place and their children would have do the same and intermarry, the little action that happens last a couple of pages and is underwhelming, and the villains are flat. Also I don't think this story fit the modern world is set upon, maybe in other period of time would have made more sense. The side characters are more interesting and I am curious about the story of some of them, and the spicy scenes are quite good written and entertaining.
I hate to give bad reviews, but I could find very little that I liked in this one.

Cinderella-like tale - curses - family honor - deceit and murder - all in Paradise, in Hawaii, with beautiful, rich people everywhere. A modern fairytale, makes a fun weekend or vacation read!

Though I don’t think this book was for me, I also couldn’t stop reading it.

It was a fun and easy read, nice and quick and I polished it off in an afternoon.
A story with a strong, masculine hero who’d fight for his own and a heroine who knows how to stick up for herself.

Lots of good spicy bits, a little bit of intensity with the crime ring aspect and the mystery of where she came from.

Unfortunately for me, the story had too many elements I couldn’t fully invest in, or confused me, such as the three families marrying into each other every generation, how she managed to get a knife on a plane and how quickly she went from being really nervous around men (rightfully so) to leaping into bed with him.

Definitely a fun, light read.

A captivating and fast paced read that had me unable to put the book down. The story line behind the four families and the accompanying curse was a wonderful way to introduce the reason for the arranged marriage. I loved the dynamic between all the characters, especially when they have unexpected influence on the story. The only thing that pulled me from the story was in the final couple chapters when pregnancy portion of the plot was introduced, but everything else had me enthralled.

This is the first time I've read books from this author and it has me wanting to continue reading the character's stories as I can't wait to see more of them.

LORD I NEED TO REPENT

This book is very addicting. I am hooked from the very beginning, because I'm truly a sucker for attractive characters. Knox is the epitome of testosterone. So hot. So sexy. So my type. I need to find myself an island boy. On the other hand, Cassidy triggered the bi in me. She's so gorgeous I want to be her. And no need to question the rest of the family. They're hot too.

I enjoyed the plot. The arranged marriage, curse, running away, and orphan thing. Knox, my boy, is totally WHIPPED and I'm into it. However, the story spent too much time describing Knox's devotion to Cassidy in comparison to the plot itself. I guess his dream literally came true and that was why he got attached quickly. Plus, they bonded during their rough first night together, which feels like a fever dream for some reason. No... the whole story felt like a fever dream. Loved it though.

I just wish the author wrote more pages on building their relationship from strangers to lovers, fighting scenes, family dynamics, angst, grovelling, and less about their sex life. By the way, Knox's obsession with boobies got me YODELING!😭

Lastly, I'm down for a fantasy version of this book, where Cassidy is really the Goddess of Fire. I think it would be cool if she had real powers and curses.

I found this book to be an enjoyable read.but I also had some issues. I found the start of the book to be incredibly long - unneccesarily so. I also found that the description in the book was beyond what was necessary and I felt liked I was being told what was being done or happening instead of being led into that and being able to get there myself. For everything that I didn't like, there was something that I did like, so it wa sstill an enjoyable read.

This book was absolutely wild, and I think it would be a five star book if the author had chosen to open the book on the chapter where Cassidy met Knox in the forest; him hunting her? That would be a thrilling way to start this story. Also, spoiler not a big fan of reading about pregnancy.. so yeah, sorry, that also ticked off a star as well.

The book is about Cassidy who was abandoned as a child, and longs for a place in this world; most of all a family. Knox, who’s haunted by a curse, has to marry either a King or a Fitzpatrick to secure his family from said curse. But what happens when the two meet?

The info dump at the first chapters felt like a long introduction to this book, and I do like to understand the story, just a few information drizzled here and there. As mentioned in the intro it would’ve been better to skip to the part where Cassidy and Knox met, and maybe have the past as a flashback? Just my opinion.

Usually, I don’t like reading stories in the first person POV’s, but since it’s more and more books written that way that are becoming the most popular, I’ll get over it. Moving on—

I really liked how Cassidy and Knox met, it made me curious as to why she was referred as Angel, not to mention her mysterious tattoo, and her being abandoned by her family.

And a another thing, which I’m putting as a spoiler: her stabbing that guy in her old apartment? I was cheering her tf on!! He deserved it, excuse my language, a nasty piece of shit. Also another spoiler is the sex was so well written, but damn the epilogue when he sucked her nipples while milk came out? Nope. Not a fan lol. Other than that 10/10!

In conclusion an exciting read, and if you like a thrilling, steamy book with a dash of found family? Look no further. I think this will be a great read for lots of people out there.

Devils Angel is a book about Knox Ramsey one of five heirs to the Ramsey family who's marriage is arranged for the benifit of his family and Cassidy who feels she has no one since her family abadoned her whilst she was younger. One night Cassidy wins a plane ticket from a card game and that ticket changes her life. She ends up on the Ramsey estate and this is where she meets Knox and everything changes for the both of them.

Their connection is immediate you can sense it in the writing and its amazing to watch it all unfold. You really get the sense that Cassidy and Knox are almost like soulmates. The romance between them them is beautiful and I wish to have an instant connection like theirs. The spice in this book is also phenomnal and the scenes blew my mind.

The only downside to this book was the ending felt very rushed & the other characters didn't have much development. Everything towards the end just kinda happened at once and felt like it was all being thrown at me and left me unsatisifed. I do think regardging the other characters lack of development they will potentially get books made on them hopefully! ( Like Wolf Blaise etc ).

Thank you to the author for providing an e-arc.

Overall, this was a great, if typical, romance story. Cassidy is an orphan, and she’s led a rough life. A series of contrived circumstances lead her to Knox, a man who needs to marry someone from one of two families or he and his family will all die mysteriously due to a curse that is actually more of a pact enacted by the three families’ ancestors. But, is Cassidy more connected to them than anyone knows?

The pacing of this book could use some serious work. There is no reason the first chapter should take up a full 10% of the novel. The writing was fair, but could have been stellar if the author did more showing that telling. The sex scenes are hot, but the scene toward the end that involves breast milk honestly kind of turned my stomach.

That being said, I did thoroughly enjoy this book. It was fun and sexy, the perfect thing after a long day at work. I hope the author continues on and gives us Wolf and Vivi’s story, and I’ll be keeping an eye on this author’s future work. 4/5 stars.

This book is excellent! I was immediately captivated by the plot and the history of the 3 families. The characters are so interesting and the plot moves at a great pace. This book has all the great elements - suspense, action, a love story, and excellent character development. The only thing I didn't like was the cover - which almost put me off reading it, but I'm so glad I didn't let that stop me! Hopefully the author chooses a different cover. Highly recommend this book!

Devil's Angel was an intriguing read from from the start. Knox comes from one of three poweful families, and is being forced into an arranged marriage in order to form an alliance with one of the other families in order to avoid a curse that has plagued his family. Cassidy grew up in foster care after being abandoned by her mother as a baby. She has no real knowledge of her true identity, but she meets Knox one night and they each feel a deep connection immediately and he vows to help her.

This was my first book by this author so I didn't quite know what to expect going in. There is definitely a large insta-love component, which generally isn't my favorite, but I will be honest and say I didn't totally dislike it here. I think the author did a good job with the unique and creative way she told the story that it worked well. I really liked both Knox and Cassidy as the main characters. Cassidy was strong and independent given all she had been through in life, and Knox was very protective and caring and so sweet when it came to Cassidy. They had some pretty intense chemistry too. I did find a good portion of the book fairly predictable, but it did not take away from the enjoyment of the story at all. I found the book to be well written and I very much look forward to reading the next books in the series and getting to know more about these characters.

Before reading this book, I never believed I'd enjoy an 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 story.

𝑫𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒍'𝒔 𝑨𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒍 is an intriguing, gripping, and a bit light-hearted angsty, contemporary romance that is kind of supernatural in a sort, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐎𝐍𝐋𝐘 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋 𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍 𝐎𝐍 𝐂𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐲. 𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘 𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇𝐘.

The thing that I love the most is the trope 𝑰 𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖,𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒕 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒆 kind of romance trope that had me chokehold on an astronomical level. As well as engaging writing, most of the time.

Although there is a plot and the storyline largely revolves around the pairing, I wish the story focused more on the ancient promise or curse that the three families are linked to, which I assumed would be explored further because it is the story's main point though I'm pretty sure it would be delved more in the next installment (perhaps?) but still.

Furthermore, the familial dynamics, which are present but underdeveloped, have piqued my curiosity and I want to learn more about them. The same can be said for the story's setting, which was fascinating but underdeveloped, making it a touch bland. The whole 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒅 𝒔𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 got me so hard aside from the 𝑰 𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖,𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒕 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒆 trope

As for the romance, as I previously stated, the trope 𝑰 𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒆 had me in a chokehold. But, on the other hand, I've found that the heated scenes or just the scenes of Knox and Cassidy moments can be tedious at times? The writing can be a tad sloppy, especially during Knox and Cassidy's scenes, but there's still space for development. Despite this, I found their romance to be enjoyable, sensual, and intimate. Their romance dynamic was overall satisfactory.

The remainder of the cast was also captivating and striking, yet I felt that they lacked development, or should I say that they were simply too perfect and that the story didn't devote enough time to them, which disappointed me. I honestly believed that it would have been much more enjoyable if the story did.

I'd also like to point out that the conclusion felt a bit rushed? It was simply so abrupt that it left me unsatisfied; I was expecting that angsty portion but it never came, so that one was disappointing for me.

Overall, I liked this book. The tropes and storyline both appealed to me, I think it was fairly good enough. I'm looking forward and excited to explore more on the rest of the series.
