A Las Vegas fling five years ago is suddenly back in full force when Jackson moves in next door to Beatrice.

I loved how this was not just a romance story, but also focusing on the struggles Beatrice was facing juggling the family business and her own venture, how Jackson was adamant of being open and honest, The Cathy Hill, the feud between the two families, the strained relationship between Jackson, his mother and his father - oh, and let's not forget Roxy the dog.

Unfortunately I had to force myself to finish this. I definitely should’ve dnf’d. Basically this was boring to me and I didn’t like the writing.

A big thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for approving me of a copy of an e-arc of this book!
Aww. My heart has melted in puddles.

Super hot second chance soul-mance! The heat shared between Beatrice and Jackson burns hot from the very first page! I loved the authors diverse cast of characters and realistic family complexity.

Bouncing between the two main characters view makes their love deep into your bones. You feel every emotion, fall when they fall and oh my gods do you burn when they burn!

Love in the real world is never easy, but when the universe gives you a second chance at love, it’s worth the fight!!

Tif Marcelo's Lucky Streak is the next in the Heart Resort series. Beatrice & Jackson go from one night stand to second chance romance via sort of secret relationship because their families are enemies, because of course they are.

The next book in the Heart Resort series is about Beatrice and Jackson. A one-night stand in Vegas had fated mates vibes but then they didn't see each other for several years. Now they have a chance again, but their families are pitted against each other. This leads to a sort of secret relationship while they figure it out.

I'm not a huge fan of the secret relationship trope, if there are too many hoops and lies that hold them together/keep them apart. Here, there are a surprising number of people who know Beatrice and Jackson are together but not the main people. And the constant hesitancy to tell their families, eventually started to rub me the wrong way. And once families knew and it rocked the boat, I really wanted big gestures and a decision to stand up for love instead of family manipulation. Because it IS manipulation that they both were subject to. Yes, they end up together, it's a romance. But the rocky parts with the families were not my favorite.

Speaking of family, Beatrice has taken on a sort of mom role with her family after her parents' deaths. However, she's a mom in the nurturing way, not in the matriarch who has any say way, and that felt weird. Her brother is clearly the only one with any say, and that bugged me here. I didn't see Chris being so hardheaded and immovable in the other books, even his own book. So maybe she wasn't really a mom to her siblings, but just some of the cheerful glue. Unless she wanted to do her own thing and then she was hesitant and basically scared to tell them. And that felt wrong. I didn't need her to be so determined that she was abrasive, but the characterization as the "mom" also didn't really fit. She was all things light, and I was ok with that. It made her charming. I think I just had a disconnect with the different characterizations.

Jackson is trying to find a way to a relationship with his father, who had abandoned him and his mother. Again, that felt like unnecessary, both to me as the reader, and frankly to Jackson's mother, too. He was setting himself up for a lot of hurt and anger. It doesn't quite come to reconciliation, nor to full heartbreak. It is a conflict device, and only sort of worked for me. It shows Jackson truly trying to find his own way. But it's also another part of the "we can't tell our families" conflict, and well, it's complicated. Trying to forge a relationship with someone you're also not fully honest with, that's a lot. Just like I needed Beatrice to stand up to her brothers, I needed Jackson to stand up to his father.

Like the others in the series, however, the pacing is excellent, and I did love the easy chemistry between Beatrice and Jackson. They are both good people, and it's not hard to cheer for them. I also liked the way each character either grew or repaired a connection with someone else in their lives. That showed growth for each of them outside of their relationship. And seeing Jackson's ties with his friend group was also nice. It wasn't a big part of the story. We often see groups of girlfriends, and Beatrice has hers, but we don't often see the hero have a group of friends to lean on and ask for help. I really liked that addition.

All in all, this is a good addition to the series. I think it works as a standalone, though it is a fuller story knowing more of the connections between the other characters. While the family conflicts didn't work for me as well here as in the others of the series, I enjoyed Beatrice and Jackson and find Tif Marcelo's books to be compulsively readable. Thus it's a 4 star for me.

What happens in Vegas... shows back up after five years. lol! I mean, come on friends, who doesn’t like a bit of the past coming back into your life when the memories have lingered in the best possible way? Especially in the form of a new neighbor who’s not so new.

I gotta say, I feel as if Tiff Marcelo is really hitting her groove when it comes to writing romance. She is firmly a one-click author for me. Her couple dynamics and writing flow is at peak perfection. Lucky Streak encompasses everything wonderful about her as an author. It’s fun sexy angsty and heartwarming. All the things that make a great read. Order your copy today book friends!

One magical night in Vegas for Beatrice and Jackson slips away too quickly for them to exchange numbers. Chance makes them neighbors five years later but unfortunately their families are at odds a la Romeo and Juliet style. :: I really enjoyed the story the author created. I thought it was interesting how the communication between Bea and Jackson was straightforward, open, and honest. The trouble came from the secrets they were keeping from their families. I also loved the diversity of the cast and the representation of the family dynamics of different cultures. Overall I really enjoyed reading this story and look forward to reading other books from Tif Marcelo.

We all know nothing that happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. And even though Jackson and Beatrice didn't get as far as either of them would have liked while they were in Vegas, doesn't mean the emotions didn't follow them. An instant attraction like the one between them clearly wasn't one to be stopped. Or forgotten about. Even if she did give him a fake name and felt pretty confident that she would never see him again. Beatrice should have known that with an attraction and connection like that between herself and Jackson, their encounter in Vegas was not going to be the last time she saw him. And the way she struggled to walk away from him even after knowing him for only a few hours should have been a pretty good indication of that.

The reunion between Bea and Jack after Vegas could have happened slowly. It could have been a huge drawn-out buildup. But instead, it was something that was dealt with quickly and in a realistic way. There was happiness and surprise. But an immediate attempt to pick up where they left off in Vegas. And that was exactly how I needed it to go. Jackson was understanding why Beatrice didn't give him her real name and Beatrice was understanding when Jackson told her he was unable to read her number on the paper she slid under his door. There were no drawn-out misunderstandings or arguments about things. Well, at least not when it came to their meetup in Vegas and not seeing each other for five years.

Jackson may not have believed in fate but even he had to admit that it was pretty strange to end up right next door to Beatrice after five years of thinking about her. And wishing he had been able to take her on a date. But of course, something always has to get in the way of that smooth sailing. And it was Beatrice's family. But more than that, it was her family business. Or, more specifically, the fact that her family business was in direct competition and in contrast with Jackson's family business. Though in Beatrice's defense, it was her idea to buy the resort with her brothers and she had been working there with them since that moment. When it came to Jackson, he only got involved with his family's business to have a relationship with his father and for a job after retiring from the military.

But there was also a bit more to the rivalry than just business. Jackson's father didn't always play nicely with others and has done some shady things. So it's understandable why Bea's family is a little wary when it comes to dealing with them. But Bea's family also hasn't exactly been welcoming to their competition. Though they haven't resolved to any shady tactics, they haven't made the situation any less volatile. The two families not being fans of one another really makes the relationship between Bea and Jack a difficult one to navigate. But their feelings for one another are strong and they just have to decide if they are going to let their families stop them from being happy with one another.

I loved the times from Beatrice's point of view. She is such a relatable character and being inside her head was such a fun ride. Her inner thoughts had me laughing out loud so much of the time. Beatrice is such an honest and loving character. It was easy to see why Jackson fell so hard and fast for her. But the way Beatrice's emotions were written was palpable. I experienced everything she was feeling. It felt like I went on this journey of love with her. The ups and the downs. And when it was from Jackson's point of view, talk about swooning! Such a great male character. I wasn't just reading words on a page, I was experiencing everything in real-time as I was reading it. And it takes a pretty talented author to be able to take it to that level.

Thank you to NetGalley, Liz Tif Marcelo, and Montlake for providing this e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

What a fun, very fast-paced romance! A chance meeting 5-years ago in Vegas, fast forward and you are neighbors! What are the odds of that?! This is very Romeo and Juliet-esque. Choosing to fight for each other or to be loyal to their families.

It took me a little bit to get into the story, but I am glad I continued until the end. It was really about learning more about the characters and their pasts that got me more invested in the story. Going right from meeting for the first time in the first chapter to 5 years later in the next didn’t offer a lot of context to the story, so you really had to keep going to get into it.

I want more!!

A second chance romance, with a strong independent woman, strong family relationships, a motorcycle riding hero, and a cute dog named Roxy.

5 years ago Beatrice and Jackson met by chance at a blackjack table in Vegas. They proceeded to have a night together where the chemistry was off the charts. Circumstances were against them and they never saw or spoke again. Until in present day the happen to be neighbours, but also working for family companies that are rivals. Will their work keep them from picking up where they left off? Will their family's approve?

I really enjoyed the family relationships and the complexity of what family means. I loved seeing characters working to stay true to themselves, and not losing themselves in pursuit of success.

Another great read from Tif Marcelo. I love her books and this one did not disappoint. Beatrice and Jackson's story was so tender and full of heart and I was so caught up that I read the book in a couple of days. I always love the glimpses of Filipino culture in Tif's books. This is a romance that will leave you with all the feels and gives you a satisfying ending. Highly recommend!

Unfortunately this was a DNF for me.

I felt the story was extremely flat and dry and I really did not like Beatrice and Jackson, the story in some parts seemed so far fetched and unrealistic and I just could not enjoy it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of the book in return for an honest review.

Lucky Streak has so many of the tropes and characteristics that I love, and yet I just didn’t connect with it. Family feuds, second chance romance, complex family dynamics? Check, check, check. And yet, I didn’t connect with the characters.

It was a slow paced story and I think one of my biggest issues was that I didn’t feel the characters were fully developed. There is little description of the characters or the setting, something I have only now come to realise helps me engage with a story and makes it feel alive.

I love a second chance romance but the history of the characters and their interactions in the past, the five years in between, the family dynamics are not really explained - it feels assumed that the reader will know, or knows that this will come out later.

I loved the use of Filipino culture throughout as I felt this is something that added to the family environment of Beatrice’s family.

I really need to do more research before picking up books because I've somehow ended up with 40+ year old characters. At 26, its just not my vibe. I get the sick for literally no reason so its 1000% a weird "Me" issue I need to work around. This could've been a great book, but I didn't get further than 30% before walking away.

That was a fun read with a unique plot! Could've been nasty with the whole Vegas theme but I liked that it wasn't.

A cute story about second chances and finding yourself. Beatrice and Jackson have an amazing interaction in Vegas and then don’t see each other again for five years. Their connection is immediate but they have many challenges ahead of them. I really enjoyed Beatrice’s story about finding what was important to her and how to align her families expectations with her own. I thought a few of the choices Jackson made seemed out of character. But overall I enjoyed the story!

Unfortunately I did not love this book. I felt it was really flat and dry. I did not feel connected to the characters and the storyline felt dragged out. Personally I did not care for the closed-door romance, as there was no spark or intensity to the romance.

Unfortunately this was a DNF for me.

I don’t know what specifically it was but I just could not get into this storyline. The characters and plot fell flat even though I really tried to connect with it. I felt like the drama at times was just too much and too unrealistic. Maybe a different reader wouldn’t mind but I made it about half way through before I threw in the towel on this one.

This book had no stakes and made me realize I don't like an entirely tame storylines. I need mess and drama and this book didn't gave me anything. Our heroine, Beatrice, was too quirky and annoying to me and I can't help but roll my eyes every time the number 3 and different signs were shown on page. The execution is really corny and cringe for me. This one's definitely not for me.
