This is a slow burn second chance romance and I must say it was highly enjoyable, perhaps a little to long for me and felt it could have been a little shorter.
I do still recommend especially if you love a good slow burn!
This book was soo adorable!! I enjoyed it so much. It was cute and very fun to read. The only thing that threw me off though was probably the length of the book. It was so long! And it is a slow burn, so you can imagine how heavy the pace was. But it still managed to end up nicely.
I do recommend this book to everyone in search for a slow burn cute romance.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is a good book. The two main characters are Beatrice and Jackson. They meet at a casino in Vegas. There is an immediate attraction. Beatrice gets a phone call and has to leave. Five years later they meet again at the outer banks of North Carolina. They both have issues but together they work them out and fall in love.
I initially didn’t love Lucky Streak, but I’m so glad I stuck with it! It was an adorable somehow fast paced slow burn.
I loved the affirmations, and the fact that Jackson & Bea did whatever they had to. A cute read!
Thank you to NetGalley, Liz Tif Marcelo, and Montlake for providing this e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.
What a fun, very fast-paced romance! A chance meeting 5-years ago in Vegas, fast forward and you are neighbors! What are the odds of that?! This is very Romeo and Juliet-esque. Choosing to fight for each other or to be loyal to their families.
It took me a little bit to get into the story, but I am glad I continued until the end. It was really about learning more about the characters and their pasts that got me more invested in the story. Going right from meeting for the first time in the first chapter to 5 years later in the next didn’t offer a lot of context to the story, so you really had to keep going to get into it.
I would 10/10 recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance story with family drama. Can’t wait to read it again!

A chance meeting in Vegas, a lost phone number and five years later your dream girl shows back up in your life. Jackson is out of the military, taking a chance to know his father after no contact his whole life, and Beatrice is back in his life. What will Jackson do when he finds himself on opposite side of Beatrice with family business at war with each other? Will they finally get there shot?

Easy fun read!
Lucky Streak by Tif Marcelo is a fast-paced romance about Beatrice Puso and Jackson Hill who met in Vegas five years ago and had an almost one-night-stand. Fast forward to five years later, and it turns out they're next door neighbours. They get reacquainted and later on they find out that Jackson is a McCauley, the Puso's rival.
I really wanted to like this book but it fell flat as it didn't bring anything new to the genre, it felt like I'd read it all before.
The Lucky Streak by Tif Marcelo is a great romance that takes you to the Outer Banks for a fairy tale. When Beatrice goes to Las Vegas she meets a man, and you know what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas! But five years later when she gets a new neighbor and it turns out be her almost fling, what now. Family ties play an important part in both their lives, but to what end?
A modern Romeo and Juliet: will they choose to be loyal to their families or will they dare to fight for their love?
I have to admit I wasn't sold at first. The beginning was unconvincing since the characters go from meeting each other in chapter one, to reuniting after five years in chapter two and picking up where they'd left off as if it'd only been a few days. It seems unrealistic that neither has moved on from their (only!) one night (almost) hook-up, even though one of them has literally gotten married and divorced in that period. This made the stakes seem very low for the first third of the book.
However, once I got to know more about their careers and their past, I became really invested. The complicated history between their families and their businesses, which would often make me impatient to get back to the romance scenes, were actually very interesting and made the stakes rise exponentially. I also learned a bit about Filipino culture which was awesome! Great representation overall.
Beatrice and Jackson meet one night in Las Vegas and decide to have a fling without giving away too many details of their lives.
Chemistry between them is undeniable, they’d like to keep getting to know each other, but their time together came to an end. Beatrice didn't even give him her real name and when she decides to give him her phone number, she does it through a piece of paper and slips it under Jackson's bedroom door.
The paper is stomped on and well you get the picture.
Five years later, Beatrice has a business of her own on the rise to success which she must combine with the family business.
One fine day she finds out she has a new neighbor and it's Jackson.
This is not the first rodeo with Ms. Marcelo, I love her way of writing and getting to know the Filipino culture through her stories. In this book we have a very strong rivalry between the families of the main characters, in the best Romeo and Juliet style in this century.
I loved Bea's affirmations in each chapter and the whole atmosphere of the book.
Really like this one and hope to read the whole series.
Lucky Streak by Tif Marcelo was a slow burn, romantic drama, that felt a little like Romeo and Juliet. The whole forbidden love, thing was interesting and a trope I usually enjoy. But this book is long, like really long. The pace just threw me off for this book.
The book wasn't bad, it had it fun times. I really loved the affirmations at each chapter, I thought that was a nice touch to really help you connect with the FMC. Jackson and his mother were just adorable, I loved certain parts of this story so much. Unfortunately, the pace and certain characters just weren't' enjoyable.
I recommend this book to readers who enjoy a slow burn, contemporary romance, with lots of drama.
This book took me a while to get into. It started off awesome. What a fun meet cute! But there was just a lot of details that made it drag for me. I enjoyed this, but I didn't love it!
Tif Marcelo has become one of my favourite authors and I’m always on the lookout for her next instalment or book that she puts out there for us to enjoy.
This one is no exception from my love for her stories. Full of heart and emotions, with characters that just grow on me with their insecurities and love and perfectly imperfect life, their interaction c their Sparks that catches fire and their final destination: love. A love that fils my heart to the bream and never let’s go.
Beautiful romance story that will warm you with its perfect couple.
Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book.
Lucky Streak was not my favorite book in the world as I feel the storyline has been done extensively. Romeo and Juliet-esque, forbidden romance stories are very common.
However, Tif Marcelo's writing style had me glued to my kindle... I read this while traveling and it was absolutely perfect for that. I was easily lost in the story and the writing style enough to pass along a long travel day. And as much as I feel the Romeo and Juliet thing has been over done I was an absolute sucker for Bea and Jackson's story. Long lost lovers reuniting only to be forced apart by family drama. Bea was a boss ass business woman who I wish I could be someday.
It didn't have that 5 star wow factor for me personally therefore I gave it a 3 star. Overall, I enjoyed the lighthearted, swoon worthy romance that Tif Marcelo gave us.
A Five-star read I feel lucky to read. This was such a great story, and one I was so eager to read, as I had gotten to know Beatrice a little in the first two Heart Resort series and she always intrigued me, sneaking off and doing her own thing. This time we got to really know her and what makes her tick, we also get to know Jackson and meet The Cathy Hill, who just added the extra sparkle this story needed. It was so nice to see the whole family pulling together, but also giving space. I do hope that we will hear more from Heart Island as I am not ready to let the Puso’s go yet. This did lack a little something the others had, and it did seem to drift off a couple of places and then leave things unresolved, but honestly, I really enjoyed the whole thing. I was swept away into the Outer Banks and don’t want to leave.
DNF, could not tolerate the servitude and the story just dragged on blandly, too many characters to discern and remember their role in the whole saga.
A great read that was fast paced for me. I enjoyed the sweet story and characters. Hope to read more by this author!
This is a love story, a love story about fate, family, and second chances. So heartwarming... when you're not reading this book, you'll be hugging it.
Thank you, NetGalley for allowing me to read this novel in exchange for my honest thoughts.
I wish I could say that I loved this book, but sadly it felt a little flat for me. I didn't really see myself connecting with the characters much, or even believing the things they said or did. However, I loved the overall theme and setting of the novel. This was the first Tif Marcelo book that I have ever read, but I'm not sure if her writing really calls to me.
I also didn't know that this was in a series, so maybe if I read the others, I would have understood this one a little more? I'm not sure, but I do know that I really enjoyed what I expected this novel to be. I felt like the drama in the novel was a bit too much at times, but that could be chalked up to me not understanding some of the backstories behind the characters because I haven't read the series in order.
The insights into Filipino culture were really interesting to me, though I wish it was referenced just a tad bit more because I am someone who loves to learn about different cultures, especially through books.
As a reader who reads a lot of open-door romances, this was a nice break as it was mostly closed-door with vague descriptions that were nuanced. The forbidden love aspect was something I hadn't expected after reading the synopsis because I guess I interpreted it as more of a enemies-to-lovers romance? Though that could be my fault entirely.
Overall, I would give this novel a solid 3/5 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for the ARC of Lucky Streak in exchange for my honest review. 2.5/5 stars, I really wanted to love this, but unfortunately the characters, storylines, conflict and resolution just didn't come together for me. We meet Jackson Hill and Bea Puso as they are mid one nightstand in Vegas. She has to suddenly leave mid stand and through mishaps they do not get each others information. Fate steps in and 5 years later they end up neighbors in The Ozarks. Fate, instalove, company rivalary, family dynamics all converge to make being together something they desperately want, but can't have. This is my first Tif Marcelo book and the whole time I was reading it, I felt like I was missing information. Found out afterwards, that this is a book in a series and it made my confusion during reading make more sense. Still don't know what happened in Vegas to make them have this instant love connection. I do think I may have felt more of a connection to the characters if I had read the other book first. The writing was good, and there is definite potential to fall in love with the Puso family, so I am going to give the first book a try and I may comeback and update my review.
