In all honesty, been trying to read this book on the NetGalley app. While I can see the art is great, the file is improperly formatted so I can't read the story. Cannot wait for the paid version to come out so I can show it all the love it deserves.
Hammer is an action-packed book about a curious boy named Stud who takes fun into his own (hammer) hands. This was a fairly enjoyable read, but I found the narrative a bit cluttered at times. All in all, it was a straightforward story that would definitely be great for middle grade to young adult readers.
Thank you, Quarto Publishing Group - Rockport Publishing, for the advance reading copy.
I enjoyed the story and the artstyle. However, the presentation of the dialogues and the art sequence seem a bit congested.
But it's a series I am looking forward to and I do believe the storyline, the artwork and the presentation will improve with the upcoming volumes.
Expect an adventurous entertaining read.
I'm uncertain how to review this book as the copy I received from NetGalley is very poor quality so it made reading difficult. The text was legible but when it comes to graphic novels, the illustrations tell more of the story than the words, so I don't feel I got a real sense of the story.
From what I was able to read, the story sounds interesting and I liked the diverse range of characters, but due to the picture quality I didn't actually enjoy reading this book.
I hope to read the published version in the future to truly get the full experience of the story.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and author for giving me a free digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
"Can Stud solve this problem with his shiny hammer hands? He’s going to try!"
The idea behind this graphic novel is really fun and the general plot has a lot of room to grow and branch out.
The copy Netgalley provided is unfortunately extremely difficult to read. The text is okay but the images are very grainy/blurry so I wasn't able to get the full effect of the book. The text looks like it was copy & pasted on TOP of the grainy images so its clear enough to read luckily.
Our main character Stud is energetic and very eager, the collection of characters we meet in volume 1 are diverse and interesting so I think theres a lot of promise here.
