I loved the beautiful illustrations and think this is a great resource for beginners! It was easy to follow! Great book to purchase!
Thank you NetGalley and Walter Falter Publishing for this ARC!
What a gorgeous book. Absolutely filled with watercolour art, not necessarily as art but as illustrations throughout the book.
I like the way the author puts you at ease, not only with the types of inspirations that she shares ( homebodiness and your own crockery!) But also with the willingness to see beauty in the slightly different. The quotes she has dotted around the book are a joy to read.
I enjoy the ratio of words to pictures which is almost always a small paragraph on each page complete with a large beautiful picture to accompany.
The author gives great information on balance and composition, along with colour theory and palettes. One particular picture that gave my heart joy was the garlands of flowers to match the colour wheel at the end of that chapter.
The step by step instructions that also allow for freedom of exploration are great and it even made difficult topics like lighting and interior easy to grasp.
I love the step by step projects and can't wait to get stuck into the paint's after reading this!
Thanks to Netgalley and the author and publisher for a temporary copy in exchange for an honest review.
Very easy to follow, especially for a beginner and full of inspiration when you find yourself in an artistic dry spell. Highly recommended

A beautiful way to make art out of the ordinary.
The introductory chapter seemed very basic and aimed at a beginner, whereas I found the later chapters to be ahead of my skillset, in that I cannot draw and it assumed that I could.
A lot of good ideas in the book, and a good reminder to draw inspiration from our immediate surroundings.
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. This is an excellent book for those learning water color from home. I tried a few projects and found the instruction to be easy to follow.
Nicely laid out and beautifully illustrated guide to watercolours.
Easy to follow and a great book if you want to give this watercolours a go.
My 9 year old daughter enjoyed trying alongside me.
Ueful handy guide to watercolours and so great to dip in and out of as you need it. Also good for classrooms!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me access an advance copy of this book in exchange for my feedback.
My husband has recently picked up watercolour painting, and the more I watch him the more interested I am to try it myself. But, I have absolutely no idea where to start! Enter, this book.
The author shows how you can take everyday objects and turn them into a beautiful watercolour painting, even if you aren't exactly experienced or consider yourself "skilled". It's nice to have some ideas to practice with before delving into more complicated projects.
I think this book is a great introduction to spontaneous art and using your surroundings as inspiration. Perhaps the art style wasn't exactly to my preference, but the tips and step-by-step instructions are definitely useful.
I’ve just taken up watercolor and this book helped me tremendously. Easy to follow. Teaches you techniques and tricks, allowing you to paint things you never thought you’d be able to do. Insured me to paint just about everything I see around the house—especially glass items. They’re so realistic!
Well put together book that inspires and guides to paint every day items around us. Book has beautiful design and the projects has a whimsical touch to it. Author explains painting a wide variety of objects and ideas that be painted.
I thought this was a fun book of fairly simple projects for a watercolor beginner. I liked the bright colors used in the projects and the range of topics.
How cool is this book! Geared maybe more for adults but cool book on how to start and tips for learning to watercolor paint. Inspired as I went through the book to paint and try different things. I thought this was just really cool. Thanks Net Galley and the publisher for the advanced copy.
Gorgeous and inspiring book! It’s a wonderful guide to finding the beauty in daily life and
painting it. The illustrations and ideas are simple and easy to follow. There’s no pressure to be
perfect. She encourages freedom to hold your brush loosely and just let the paint flow. The whimsical paintings inspired me to start painting again. I loved the craft projects too. Highly recommend!
This book was great!!! It was super easy to read and follow. The images were straight forward as well as visually appealing. I had a blast brushing the dust off my brushes and getting back into watercolors!! It’s been a long time. This book just sparked something in me and now that’s all I want to do! Looking to get into watercolor? Or maybe your like me and just need a boost back in. This book checked all the boxes!
In short:
Did I like it? Absolutely
Would I recommend it? Definitely
I thought this book was really easy to follow and I liked the fact that the subject to paint was so varied, not just stuck to one theme.
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
A great book. Easy to follow and to dip in and out of. Love the way the different techniques are explained. Clear instructions that even a novice can follow.
Watercolor Painting at Home is whimsy and wonder. Full of color and unique touches it is a pleasure to flip through. The steps by step instructions are clear and concise. The author includes great tips on brush holds, composition, and color theory. There is also a crafty element, which some may find inspiring. Great for beginners and intermediate watercolorists.
I love how unique this book is compared to the many other watercolor books out there. I'm a beginner painter and have tried a ton of books. They usually follow the same set of instructions and styles. The artwork itself in this book is beautiful and uses lots of fun, bright colors. Anyone getting into watercolor will enjoy this!
This is a lovely and informative little book on painting with watercolor. At the beginning there is a a general introduction, followed by some easy examples to try. This leads onto some bigger projects and painting from the surrounding animals and flowers. Finally these skills are harnessed to painting items for the home, or to give away.
It is a lovely, easy to read, useful book that I think is very worthwhile to read.
This is a wonderful, informative and colorful step-by-step tutorial on watercolor painting for the beginner. Using vivid visuals and simple instructions the author advises the reader on the various tools to choose from, how and when to use different techniques and what subjects those techniques tend to complement, and how to display your art. Ms. Hack also includes a nice selection of projects: flora, fauna, still life, an incoming storm, illustrating a favorite recipe, even painting your own painting supplies. This is a great beginner’s book as you follow along with the pictures and the text is minimal and simple, which is just right. #netgalley #WatercolorPaintingAtHome
