Food For Thought…
The sixth outing in the D.I. Adam Fawley series finds the detective with much food for thought following a suspected burglary gone wrong. He doesn’t believe that this case is that simple. He knows that there’s way more to it than that. When investigations pull up links to a high profile but distressing past crime and a possible miscarriage of justice, Fawley and his team find themselves in the limelight. Characters are keenly observed and credible and the careful plot is populated with twists and red herrings alike. An outstanding addition to this series which simply gets better with every outing.

I often forget about Adam Fawley, when discussing my favourite series... and I shouldn't.
This like all the others I've read, is excellent.
A solid cast of characters, and a twisting storyline, that had me going back to check a few facts at least once.
The dialogue is realistic, as in the office politics.
A great read that will hopefully have you as puzzled as I was as to the who and whys.

A great read with aspects of absolute brilliance which held me captivated and intrigued.
A story of concealed pregnancies (the number of which spoiled this slightly for me by means of stretching the plausibility) family secrets and pathological, lies.
The murder of a young man, entering a lone property, allegedly shot as an intruder doesn’t add up and my intrigue at this point peaked. The couple whose house it is and did the deed are elderly and have hidden secrets in their pasts. The plot slowly and tantalisingly unfolds and pulled on my heartstrings in many ways as I found myself imagining myself in the position of the main characters. A good slow read which builds up brilliantly. Definitely recommend.

Enjoyable police based thriller, no need to have read earlier books in the series (I had read one but it didn’t make a difference to be honest)

I really enjoy the Di Adam Fawley series and this has to be one of my favourites.

Admittedly some of the books in the series are better than the others and this one ticked all the right boxes. The plot felt totally different from the other books and it was intriguing from the word go. The character dynamics were great and well developed, and I wanted the story to go even further than it did - which shows how much I loved this.

This can be well enjoyed as part of the series but would also be great read as a standalone. 5 stars for Hope to Die by Cara Hunter.

I am always SO excited when I see that Cara has written another book in this fantastic series. These books have never let me down, and this one is no different!

I absolutely whizzed through this desperate to discover where it was all going. I adored all the twists and turns and how easy it was to go from hating a character to feeling sorry for them.

The main character was fascinating, the story was dark and captivating and I cannot wait to see where the series goes next.

Cara Hunter will forever be an autobuy author for me!

The much awaited return of DI Adam Fawley and the team following the fatal shooting of an intruder in an elderly couples home. The intruder has no ID or phone and they struggle to identify him. However, when the victim is finally identified leads to a case over 15 years old, when a young Camilla was accused of killing her baby. A fact she has maintained is completely untrue. Now Fawley and the team need to put all the puzzles pieces back together to make sense of both crimes.
A fast paced, gripping yet unique storyline. The main characters are well developed and likeable. They make easy work of a rather complex situation. It is the sixth book in the series but isn’t a necessary to have read the previous books to enjoy this one.

Hope To Die is the sixth book in the DI Fawley series. Which follows DI Fawley and his team as they are called to a scene after a young man is found shot in the kitchen of an old couple. However, the case gets complicated when they discover that the couple are not who they say they are, in fact they are linked to a case that happened years ago. (I won't say too much more)

Although this is not as action packed or fast paced as some of the previous books in the series, the plot in this one is definitely more complex and cleverly written. There are plenty of red herrings that are perfectly placed to throw you off what is about to happen. One thing that has always been a favourite in all the books has been the variety of media formats Hunter uses during the investigations and it was great to see that she has continued to use them in this book too, for me it makes police procedurals more interesting and makes the cases feel more realistic.

It's nice to see DI Adam Fawley and the team back together solving cases. It was also nice to see Fawley has some new team members. Yes at times I did find it difficult to remember all the new characters but I loved them. They are unique and well developed.

As I mentioned at the start this is the sixth book in the series but you could possibly read it as a standalone, especially as there is a quick character summer at the start of the book which is super useful. But personally I recommend you start the series from the beginning as get to know the characters much better.

Hope To Die was a great read and can't wait to read the next book!! If you're looking for a page turner with a complex yet absorbing police procedural plot, then I highly recommend this book and the rest of the books in this series.

Sheer perfection! This series is easily my favourite crime series and I was so excited what the team had stumbled across this time. I was not disappointed. Its so so so cleverly written and there are so many strands and twists and tiran and it all comes together perfectly for that big reveal. You will never guess how this book os going to turn out all you can do is phone in sick from work, stay up all night, let the family feed themselves and focus on getting through it and enjoying every second of it. The characters have already been well established by now but youre still always leading that little bit more about them, we don't rest on our laurels here. The plot itsself is just genius and it's so fast paced that there is constantly more being uncovered which makes you reevaluate everything you thought you knew. This whole series is a must read

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin for an early E-copy of Hope To Die by Cara Hunter in exchange of my honest opinion.

I have read every single book by Cara Hunter. In fact, the Adam Fawley series is in my Top 3 favourite murder-thriller series ever.

The 6th instalment didn't change my mind a bit. It is as good as the previous books if not better.

Thinking about it, I can't find a single thing I didn't enjoy. Not only the plot if superb, the characters development amazing and the case intriguing, but the process of finding out what happened and how they got to the situation they are in in the present was a wild ride of events that kept me guessing who was behind it all.

The proofs, the evidences, the interrogations, the audio clips and the rest of the things you don't usually see in books, made this read much more interesting, engaging and hooking.

Definitely a 5/5⭐ book!

Reading a Cara Hunter novel is like going to your favourite restaurant and ordering your favourite dish. You look forward to it and it always tastes so good!

This is genuinely my favourite on-going detective series at the moment. DI Fawley and his team are so well developed as characters and what I love most is that fact all the characters are so well written. Its not just Fawley as the main man and a number of people around him - you feel like you know Gis, Quinn, Somers etc. just as well.

What I love specifically about Hope To Die is the use of alternative forms of exposition. The use of emails, messages, voicemails as well as the Netflix items really gave a proper sense of being part of the story and, more importantly, the investigation. You are right in amongst the evidence trying to work out what it all means.

Like most series, these novels can be read as standalones however due to the back story and character development I would really recommend reading all the previous novels first.

Massive thanks to Netgalley and Penguin General UK - Fig Tree, Hamish Hamilton, Viking, Penguin Life, Penguin Business, Penguin for the ARC in exchange for an honest review

What a great, gripping book! I couldn't put it down, couldn't wait to get to the end & then I was sorry it was over!
Who is he dead man? Shot by a pensioner who said he was a burglar. Nothing is quite as it seems & there are more questions than answers. The police team in charge of solving this manslaughter/murder unearth many twists & turns leading back fifteen years, to the disappearance of a baby & the mother being in prison for killing the baby.
Loved the characters leading this story & I am sure this would make a great detective series. I enjoyed it so much, I'm off to read more of Cara Hunter's books.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book.

I’ve loved all of the DI Fawley books and I’m fascinated by the real case this book took some of its inspiration from so this was a winner for me. Read in one sitting.

I received this as an ARC via Netgalley In exchange for an honest review. The title of the book seems to have changed since the Netgalley Proofs were sent and I have to say that this is a positive.

I have read all the others in this series and have enjoyed both the narrative and the characterisation. I like the way the author has re-introduced the common characters and brought in the new characters at the beginning of the book. There is some evidence of the formulaic personality traits in the go getter character and the cop who is so keen to get on he will take another's work to claim on his own but generally Hunter has created a believable police team.

This book looks at an old notorious case in the light of new and recent events. There is a mix of new investigation and the examining of old evidence with new eyes. There is a great mix of the old information in witness testimony, programme scripts etc. The whole is a pacy narrative that kept me interested and waiting for what would come next. It is not very complicated and the keen reader of crime will be able to work out some of the mystery with ease.

Whilst I enjoyed it I don't necessarily think it is the best of the series.

For me It is a 3.5 read but rounding up to 4 (less)

I've been a reader of this series since the word go and can't quite believe we are already on book six and still going strong and this just as all the other fabulous books I have read in the series did not disappoint!

It's great to be reunited and back in Oxford with Adam and the team. as they are tasked with investigating the shooting of an intruder at a remote farm house, but not everything is as clear cut as it seems and Pandora box is opened.

A twisted plot that unravelled to a satisfying conclusion.

I'm a big fan of the formats that Cara uses in her books it gives them the edge and helps to invest you in the case.

I have read all five of the previous books in the DI Adam Fawley series, all of which I have have read in one or two days they are addictive, so was delighted to be given an E-ARC of the latest book “Hope To Die” thank you Netgalley and Penguin UK here is my fair and honest review in exchange for the ARC.

When the Sunday Times Said this was “up all night thriller” they were not kidding. I read this in a day all though full disclosure I was in bed not feeling well but even then I think I would have powered though it as quick, much like with the previous books your mind goes into overtime reading and it is all you can think about, almost like being part of Fawley’s team.

From The Cover:

“Midnight. A callout to an isolated farm outside Oxford. A body, shot at point blank range in the kitchen.
It looks like a burglary gone wrong, but DC Adam Fawley suspects there's something more to it. Who exactly was the aggressor here?
When the police discover a connection to a high-profile case from years ago, involving a child's murder and an alleged miscarriage of justice, the press go wild.
Suddenly Fawley's team are under more scrutiny than ever before. And when you dig up the past, you're sure to find a few skeletons....”

Hope To Die is as pre mentioned part of series of six books, all thought this and the others could be read as standalone captivating thrillers I would urge and envy new readers to the series to start at book one and work up book 6 you will bit be disappointed.

Hope To Die starts off helpfully with a character recap, which is helpful for old and new readers alike to the series, there are lot of characters to keep up with so this quick recap is a great reminder to who the main members of the unit are and a small snapshot to their personal story of which has carried on though-out the series. Each novel is a new case but the main police team stay the same.

The fact we are now six books in means that the characters have developed really well and as a reader you are interested in their personal lives, you only ever small snippets but it is more than enough to keep you invested, it is credit to Hunters writing that although you only ever hear from Fawley in the first POV and small section in the third person relating to the other team members ,you feel connected to the characters develop views on them and understand their actions. This deepens the plot lines of each individual novel for me. Fawley is a likeable and insightful main character that intertwines well with the rest of the varied bunch of his team.

It is with great skill a writer can do this, I feel in some series's writers can get lazy and almost copy and paste characters this is not the case here at all, each time they feel familiar but fresh as is the case with the plots. The only other series of books I feel that is done successfully in each book is the Strike novels by Robert Galbraith, aka JK Rowling, that is standard of Hunter’s writing. She is not quite JK but given time I think she could be.

in her writing , hunter very cleverly achieves creating an almost character lead series of novels within a police procedural/thriller novel with unique, fresh, challenging plots for each book. No case is the same and are in no way similar this combination makes the series addictive.

Hope To Die in itself is a interesting, some what quirky story. It is thrilling as usual but I felt it had more slow burning feeling to it than the other novel, I actually really liked that. The conclusion for me left a few unanswered questions and I had few niggles that stopped it being a full five stars, however that being said it was brilliant. Can’t say much more without spoilers but it a cracker with a good twist you probably won’t see coming right till it hits you.

Like all the books in series Hope To Die doesn’t have chapters but different sections, some are what I fell lread like diary entries from Fawley and third person accounts of the other characters which is not unique in its manner of telling a story but what is the other sections like the reports, the emails, the Netflix documentary transcript, newspaper cuttings etc this gives the book and in fact the books that little something special that takes it above and beyond your usual police procedural crime thriller, even the best written ones. They bring the book to life and make you feel like you are investigating, furthermore they are not shoe horned, the way some writers randomly slip these things in, the are in fact telling the story in themselves which for me really adds to the plot and keeps you guessing . This no chapter just scene style of writing is fresh, it stops any potential lags in the book and keeps you wanting to read on and on. Like a Netflix show in book form….just one more.

This a good edition to the Fawley series and I can’t wait for the next instalment

Cara Hunter is one of the best crime writers today and Hope To Die may even be her best. The characters are so real and complex and the twists are unexpected but never cheap. I love her use of perspective and integration of evidence such as transcripts and newspaper articles.

My favourite series ever is back with a bang!

Like every book in the series this was a delight to read. The relationships between characters are second to none, the writing is truly next level. Another impossible mystery solved by Fawley and the team.

5/5 as always.

**will keep on updating links as i keep on sharing this review to all the places that i do**

I legit wait the whole year for every new book in this series! Getting early access to the ARC via Netgalley and publishers literally made my day. You can only understand my anticipation if you have been following this series. If you love police procedurals, this series should be on top of your list!

Like every book in the series, this was a wild joyride from start to finish, and the fact that this is based on a true crime is mind-blowing, guess I've got some more true-crime docs. on my list to watch lol! Crazy stuff - no doubt the truth is stranger than fiction.

But I gotta say, this book was quite a chunk with +900 pages, and then I was waiting for that punch in the jaw at the end of the story - Cara Hunter style, which was there but we've had stronger punches in the previous books. I kinda felt a bit unsatisfied at the end of it all but only if I'm comparing it with the previous books. But then again finding out that it is based on a true crime did it well for me. Like always, 5 brilliant stars, as I wait impatiently for the next one :).

Thanks so much, Netgalley, author, and publishers for the early access ARC :)).
