I have now read all of Cara Hunter’s DI Fawley novels, each one different but still amazingly gripping reads.
I really like the fact that this novel is sort of based on a true crime. The extra edge that gives the story is spot on.
As always the police team are fab. All pulling together like a family to solve the crime. I love the fact that not all of the team are liked, but they get along just the same.
All the twists and turns in the story, keep you guessing until the very end.
I can honestly say you won’t be disappointed if you sit down to read this book. Just be aware, you may not move until you finish it.
Thank you Netgalley and penguin publishers for gifting me this prepublication copy. I loved every page.

The 6th Adam Fawley book is another triumph. The reader now knows him so well along with all his colleagues. It is engrossing to spend more time with them all, and this is a fascinating case involving the apparent shooting of a burglar at a remote farmer house, yet all is not as it seems. Highly recommended addition to this excellent series of crime novels.

Welcome back DI Adam Fawley and the team! Now gather to a baby daughter and settled with his wife, Adam is called to a case of a young man shot by an elderly man. Who is this man and his relationship to well known murderer who has been in the public eye thanks to a Netflix documentary.
As always the books in this series are fantastic and this was no exception. Adam has evolved as a character and is still one of my favourite book boyfriend crushes!
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

I have loved every one of Cara Hunter's books so when I had the chance of an early copy of Hope to Die in return for an honest review I was thrilled! Hunter didn't disappoint.

Again at the front of the book is the catalogue of main characters to jog your memory and remind you of what stage in their life and career they are at, very useful!

Hunter has a great writing style and this story gripped me from the beginning and kept me guessing with it's twists, turns and red herrings. I did however, ration myself as I didn't want to get to the end too soon. I feel like I actually know these police officers now and I'm invested in their lives. To this end I wish we'd heard more of Erica Somers' likely future. Other than that all ends were neatly tied up in a very satisfactory conclusion to a very different crime story.

My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers.

Another good one in the Adam Farley series it starts with the sound of a gun shot in a farmhouse late at night where Richard and Margaret live, the person who heard the sh0t rings the police.

When the Police arrive they find a man shot dead who apparently is a burglar but everything is not how it seems and the investigation is very complex it definitely keeps you reading, I have to say though I did skip a lot of the transcripts and social media etc not keen on them.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC

Having read about DI Adam Farley and his team before this was like coming home! The characters continue to come alive with their very different personalities, quirks and foibles! Beginning with what seems like a simple burglary gone horribly wrong involving two pensioners, a young man and a shot gun, the story slowly becomes far more complex and the team are pushed to their limits having to use all their investigative powers to set right a wrong - or not? I confess to wondering if parts of the story could really happen but indeed Cara Hunter has done her homework and this is based on a similar real life crime! Cleverly told and had me guessing right to the conclusion! Much enjoyed!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the invite to read this early ARC.

Wow, wow, wow Cara Hunter certainly knows how to tell a fab story. I absolutely love her latest DI Fawley book and devoured it in less than two days, that’s how good it was. I really like the authors writing style here and think the format she uses of including past media reports and online forums airing public opinion really works in her books and adds a lot of depth to the story. DI Adam Fawley and his team investigate the murder of a young man who is mistaken for a burglar in an elderly couples property. Is all as it seems though? When the team struggle to identify the victim and look closer into the family history secrets that have been kept hidden for years begin to come out. I loved the many individual story threads and that the story is told mainly through DI Fawley’s perspective. When links are found to an old case DI Fawley and his team have to find out exactly what happened 20 years ago and how those events tie into their current investigation. I really enjoyed the little snippets the author gives into her characters home and personal lives and feel like I really know all the characters now. The story has, in my opinion, a great plot line that kept me guessing until nearly the end. I loved everything about this book - it was very well written, engaging and had twist after twist and the author definitely knows how to grab her readers attention right from the start and hold it right through to the end. The last part of the book raced to a thrilling and satisfying conclusion that I correctly guessed. For me, this author never disappoints and each book she writes really hits the mark. If you’re a fan of police procedurals I’d recommend this author and series, and if you’ve not read the previous books then read them in order if you can so you get to know DI Fawley right from the beginning. Definitely one of my best reads so far this year!

With HOPE TO DIE, Cara Hunter retains her position as my favourite in police procedural (with Michael Connelly a close second).

I can't quite articulate exactly why I love these books so much. One aspect that feels different to others out there is that there is good involvement, and following the narrative, of the entire investigative team. Whilst it's the Fawley series, there's always a significant part of the story following the actions of other team members, he's by no means the totally dominant voice. There's usually the clever integration of things like social media; this one includes a Netflix series based around an imprisoned mother. You always feel like you're always sitting on the shoulder watching over the entire investigation, including down the wrongs paths and dead ends, backtracking and finding new leads - but not overburdening you in detail so the stories are always moving at a good pace.
But it's more than these things too.

Always very clever plots and this one is no different on that score. An intriguing mystery that keeps you guessing and expertly unravelled and revealed to the reader. This one also has topical interest, with the kernel of the plot being based on a recent Australian case.

Another fantastic book in the DI Fawley series by Cara Hunter. Yet again, Hunter’s writing style keeps the pace snappy and the reader gripped. Featuring her trademark range of writing including TV transcripts, police interviews, voicemails and narrative this is a truly immersive experience. The story grips the reader leaving many twists and turns, cleverly written to keep everyone ‘in the dark’ until the very end.
The only negative thing I find with the DI Fawley series is that there are a lot of characters, however the “who’s who” section at the beginning is a great reminder and reference point.
5 stars from me and looking forward to seeing what DI Fawley gets up to next.

Absolutely brilliant, what more can I say, I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish hoping it would never end such was my joy in reading it. The question is, did Camilla Rowan kill her baby, new evidence comes to light in the form of DNA when a young man is killed in a supposed burglary gone wrong. DI Fawley and his team are investigating not only the new crime but also a crime that was committed 20 years earlier, will his team find the answers.

Once again, an absolutely superb book from Cara Hunter. I've read all of them and have never been disappointed.
I knew within the first few pages that this was a book I would not want to put down.
There is, for me, just the right mix of story, personalities, turns and good old-fashioned policing.
I don't want to include much on the storyline suffice to say it appears that the facts of what happened in 2018 (the shooting) and 1997/2002 (the baby disappearance/court case) are straightforward. As ever things are never quite what they seem right up to the very last paragraph. It was so refreshing to not have a 'Hollywood Shoot-Out/Fight' ending.
Not to be missed

I was so excited to be approved for this new book and I am not disappointed. WOW! WOW! WOW! what a fantastic read. Unlike the true crime documentary of Keli Lane which I watched a while ago, this unputdownable book has a very satisfying ending with a shocking, unexpected twist. The famous Adam Fawley is back with another cracking crime to solve and the tension and suspense just gets better and better the further you read. It's completely unputdownable and I read it in one sitting because I loved it so much. The plot is gripping and the characters are relatable. I'm so glad Cara bought back the cast of characters list at the start of the book, this makes it more lifelike for me and you get to know the characters even more. I highly recommend this amazing series and this will be a bestseller without a shadow of a doubt. Huge Congratulations on another stunning, unputdownable, gripping, PHENOEMENAL read. I loved everything about it and I can't rate it highly enough.

Cara Hunter is an amazing author and I have read several or her books, and when I was invited to review this title I was over the mood. The book offered the usual twists and turns but with Hunter's attention to detail and background research. The plotline was refreshingly different, and She spent time building the characters which added to the enjoyment. The time that she took to add in the original documents made the storyline very immersive and it didn't take me long to finish it. My recommendation would be to read it, you will love it.

Another excellent novel by Cara Hunter.
DC Adam Fawley suspects that what looks on the surface like a burglary that just went a little wrong is in fact more sinister. His team becomes under scrutiny from colleagues and the press.
Can he solve the case?
Never a disappointment and Cara Hunter delivers again.
Thanks to#NetGalley for the advance copy in return for an honest review

I adore Cara Hunter's writing and am completely invested in the DI Adam Fawley series. The summary of characters, based on the story so far, is an absolute godsend for someone like me who is a) forgetful and b) reads over a hundred books a year!

Hunter continually breaks new ground with the format of her books and it makes for an exciting and fresh reading experience. 'Hope To Die' sees the inclusion of floor plans, interview notes, Press reports, a Netflix script and some newspaper clippings.

I enjoyed the plot - no spoilers! I particularly love Fawley's wry sense of humour. The quirks of personality Hunter attributes to her characters imbues them with life. Her attention to the details of humanity is meticulous, her plotting impeccable. Cara Hunter is one of the very best crime writers and I will drop anything, and everything, to read whatever she comes up with next! Brilliant series. Highly recommend!

I don't understand how so much genius can fit inside one author. This is the best police procedural series I've ever read, hands down. Every single word was perfect. I hope it never ends!!!

Another really great mystery thriller from Cara Hunter featuring D.I. Adam Fawley and his Thames valley CID unit.

Elderly Richard and Peggy Swann ,living in an isolated large property was disturbed one evening by an intruder.
The local Police were contacted by a witness who heard a gunshot . On arriving at the property a young man was found with a shotgun blast to his face . With no identification a search which led to twists and turns in an endeavour to find out who he was.

The tale begins to unfold taking the reader on an unexpected journey into the past.

This is a great Police Procedural which tries to unravel the puzzle and mystery of the dead man who and why ?

Enjoy ,you will not be disappointed by this thriller.

Another great novel with Adam Fawley. Gripped from the start with twist’s and turns to make me dizzy. I really like the main character who is very likeable and a typical policeman with a complicated private life who I hope finds happiness soon. I would recommend this book and series, Cara is a great author.

Another book in the Adam Farley series - did not disappoint. An intriguing tale about the murder of a baby which had kept me engrossed all the way through with a gigantic twist. The attitude of the imprisoned mother made me feel that she deserved her sentence and this was something I continued to experience throughout the book despite the twist. It was an enthralling read and would highly recommend.
