Robert Bryndza’s books never fail to impress. I have read every book in the Erika Foster series and I’m always left eager for more!
I flew through this one and it was lovely to read about developments in the main characters personal life.
already can’t wait for the next instalment.
Thank you for my copy of this book to review.
I have read all the previous Erika Foster books so was really happy to see a new one.
The book was well written, fast paced with an original storyline and I liked the familiarity of the characters. Each chapter left me wanting to read more. I’m really hoping there will be another book in the Erika Foster series.
A good, 5 star detective story.
This book was great, the characters were well developed. The plot was interesting. Highly recommend it.
I was so excited to receive the latest in the Erica Foster series I started this as soon as it hit my kindle. As always it was the perfect mix of tension, action and with the added edge of following Erica's personal journey, I just could not stop reading.
It's twisty, so much so I didn't work out what was coming and read squirming as the action really exploded.
I feel like I've really got to know Erica and her personal life spills into the plot really making this impossible to put down.
Another fantastic installment in the series, I already can't wait for the next. This was the perfect thriller with well loved characters really bringing it to life! An easy five star read, I wish I could give it more!
In “Fatal Witness” (Detective Erika Foster #7) by Robert Bryndza, we find ourselves in the heart of a brutal murder. As Detective Erika Foster delves into the case, she realizes that the murdered young women may have been close to solving old cases involving young female college students. But it looks like the attacker is not satisfied with just silencing the true-crime podcaster as a second body is discovered. Erica and her team have their work cut out for them and the clock is ticking.
Another great crime thriller with familiar characters. I received an advanced readers copy of this book, and this is my honest opinion.
A dark a disturbing tale about a brutal murder and the mystery of who the victim is and why such a brutal murder has taken place. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat as it becomes even darker and the story is even more disturbing than you can possibly imaging.
It's no secret that I'm a big fan of the DCI Erika Foster series, so I was beyond excited when I first discovered there was going to be a new sequel after four long years. There is just something about this detective thriller series that makes me feel a little giddy inside every time a new book appears on my kindle, and I've never been able to resist a copy for long once it does... And I have to say that even after such a long time, memories of the different characters and previous events popped right up again once I started reading the first pages. I guess that's what happens when it's one of your favorite series!
Fatal Witness can quite easily be read as a stand-alone, because the case itself is a completely new one without ties to the past. I do recommend reading the previous books not only to have more background on the development of Erika Foster and her team, but also because the books are well worth your time in the first place. This time around we have the mysterious death of a true-crime podcaster as well as the sexual predator case she was investigating for her most recent podcast... Plot twists and secrets start appearing early on, and between the pace and writing you will find yourself flying through those pages in record time.
I had such a great time meeting up with Erika Foster and the rest of her team again, and you will also find some personal developments in Fatal Witness along the way. I think the cast of characters is part of the charm of this series in general, and Erika Foster makes for an excellent lead character. The plot and plot twists will keep you plenty busy, and this story will also most definitely finish with a bang. While I had my suspicions, I sure never saw those final events coming! The ending also made me even more curious about what the next book will have in store for Erika and her team... I already can't wait to read it, and Fatal Witness hasn't even been published yet!
I am a HUGE Erika Foster fan, and this novel was amazing as always
there are loads of twists and turns to keep you on the edge of the seat, and the climax is really well written
Urdery and intrigue…characters who are likable and some not so much. The story moves slowly, at times, and can be somewhat confusing…that being said, it is a real mystery that reads like true crime…explicit topics could be left out and the story would be fine…
Detective Erika Foster has just moved into her new house in Blackheath. It is a mess, a bit like her personal life, but she knew it was a fixer upper when she bought it. She has no furniture, no food, nothing set up. So she takes a late night walk to grab a bite to eat, when she hears a desperate scream coming from a nearby flat. She rushes in to find a gruesome crime scene. Vicky Clarke, a true crime podcaster, has been found murdered by her sister. The sister is the one who screamed when she found Vicky's mangled body.
Erika is charged with finding the killer. Erika and her team quickly realise that all of Vicky’s materials are missing from her flat. The killer seems to have taken all evidence and killed Vicky as the final piece. Erika soon finds that Vicky had been working on an investigation into a sexual predator who had been preying on female students in London, breaking into halls of residence at night to assault them.
When the results of DNA testing comes back the case suddenly gets very confusing. Then another body is found and it becomes a race against time to find a missing person before the killer finds them.
This is book seven in the Detective Erika Foster series, and it is just as good, if not better than the previous ones. Erika Foster is a wonderfully real character, a tough but fair boss, compassionate but hard as nails, and knows how to do her job, and do it well. Consumed by her work, and still engulfed in the loss of her husband, her personal life is a disaster, but her work never suffers for it. She will do anything to catch the murderer on the loose, even if it means potentially loosing her badge in the process. You feel her emotions in this story, and are really cheering her on, with every clue unearthed, with every discovery, you are turning the pages, not wanting to put the book down, because you want to see her succeed. Another fantastic read, and a top class detective in the field of detective novels. Highly recommend!!
*I received this book from NetGalley for review but all opinions are my own.
After recovering from injuries sustained in the previous case DCI Erika Foster has just moved into her new (very rundown) home in Blackheath. She walks to the local chippy for a fish and chip dinner and, on her way home she hears a bloodcurdling scream. She investigates and finds the scene of a brutal killing in one of the apartments in a block of six. The victim, Vicky Clarke was a true crime podcaster.
Erika is assigned the case and she learns that Vicky had been most recently working on an episode about a serial sexual offender who stalked his victims and preyed on them in their halls of residence. It is not long before it is discovered that the victim in Vicky’s flat was not actually Vicky but Bulgarian medical student Sophia who bore a passing resemblance to Vicky and lived in the flat opposite. Is it a case of mistaken identity? But where is Vicky?
There is not much to go on and CCTV is inconclusive. The case stalls until there is another death. A tiny amount of DNA is recovered, but now they just have to find a match. Erika will leave no stone unturned and as she zeroes in on her target she puts herself in danger yet again. It all got very tense as the book raced to a suspenseful ending as Erika unmasks the wolf in sheep’s clothing.
These are characters we have grown to love over the course of the series. But this time - could it be that love is in the air for Erika. The man who delivers some furniture for her new home turns out to be from Erika’s home town in Slovakia (or is it Slovenia?) and, as it turns out, was her first boyfriend back home. Naturally they have quite a bit of catching up to do. Erika has another long recovery ahead of her from her latest injuries but I look forward to catching up with her again and I hope we hear from Igor again too. Many thanks to Netgalley and Raven Street Publishing for the much appreciated arc which I reviewed voluntarily and honestly.
As usual in my reviews, I will not rehash the plot - you'll have to read it for yourself!
Although this book is part of a series, I had not read any of the earlier novels - however the story works fine as a standalone, as there is plenty of background information on the main characters.
Really enjoyed this - plenty of twists and turns, together with great characters and a few red herrings to throw you off the trail. I will definitely read more in this back-catalogue, and look forward to the next novel!
My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC. All opinions my own.
I've never read anything in this series before. Mainly I jumped on this book because I like his Kate Marshall series so much. And to be brutally honest, I didn't like this one as much as the Kate books, but it was still a very good read.
A welcome return for Erika Foster in this latest novel.
Well-written, intriguing and compelling, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more by the same author.
“Fatal Witness” was my first novel by Robert Bryndza and certainly won’t be my last! This was right up my alley with great characters, a twisty plot and a few spine chilling episodes that ensured the tension remained high. Despite the fact that this is part of a series featuring Detective Chief Inspector Erika Foster, it read perfectly well as a stand alone novel. Personalities jump off the page and we take a vested interest in their fate…the victims, the investigators, the friends and family left behind.
The plot concerns the death of a young true crime podcaster who flies a little close to the flame when investigating an unknown historical serial sex offender at a drama school, who was never bought to justice. The painstaking investigation despite a slow start, picks up pace and delivers a thrilling conclusion. Thanks to NetGalley and Raven Street Publishing for the advance reading copy.
Another fabulous book by Robert Bryndza. I stormed through this and couldn't put it down! Kept me guessing the whole way through. Definitely recommend.
This story has a lot of bizarre twists and turns. A young woman is discovered murdered in her bed by her sister. Detective Erica Foster learns that the victim was a true-crime podcaster following a lead on a possible serial predator in south London, The death of another young woman spurs Erica to find the perpetrator before any more deaths. Excited to be in her new fixer-up home and moving on from the pain of her past Erica spends her first night in her house. No heat just one fireplace and her blow-up bed but it's hers. During Detective Erica's search for answers, she encounters some strange people that live in the same building as the deceased and one that could be a real suspect. Following the deceased woman's lead on her podcast is another, if it's the truth.
Once again author Robert Bryndza tells a Detective Erica Foster's story that's filled with drama, a real-life character portrayal, and interesting twists and turns. I can't wait for more. Having characters that you can relate to and smile and hurt with is key to a good book in my opinion. Thank you, NetGalley, and publishers Raven Street for this eARC I highly recommend this book.
Robert Bryndza has done it again!
I´m not going to mince my words, you simply have to read this book!
So clever, so deliciously unputdownable!! Loved every single minute reading it!
My thanks to NetGalley and Raven Street Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced copy in return for an honest review.
My first Robert Bryndza read and it was fantastic. Couldn't put it down, kept ne guessing all the way to the end
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.
Erika is walking back to her new house where quite by chance she comes across a murder scene. Tess has just so covered her sister Vicky murderer, or has she? When another body turns up Erika and her team investigate. Are the murders related to the housing complex or is there something else at play? Where does Vicky’s true crime podcast fit in and where are her recent recordings?
With a big twist right when you think you’ve solved it, this is a great story.
Erika finally has a love interest she deserves and a new pet too, to go with her new house and furniture.
Thoroughly enjoyed. Would recommend!
