One of the top series I have read and based in the USA. The town Black Rock Falls seems to be idyllic until you look at the death toll.

What I truly like with this book is that the characters are just so personable and are like many people that you would see daily.

I do love the fact that Jenna and Dave will be married as it's one of those relationships I always wanted to work out.

Poor Jenna and Dave they always seem to have their plans pulled out from under them. It just seems like it's normal for them that they can't have a normal life.

The story is great showing so much of an what I love. Also live the fact that the story is more difficult to figure it out. I like guessing who the killer is and what types of things are coming next.

As I get further into this series I feel that I am a part of their extended family. I wanted to cry in this book as I felt so bad for Dave and Jenna at first. Though you quickly realize that these two need more than just each other. They need to have the type of life where they are solving crimes and saving people.

Part of what I love about this book it isn't traditional ending where most of not all die.

The only bad part is Poppy as I am not fond of the character in the least. Her attitude and the way she goes after things has rubbed me the wrong way. I do think that eventually this may change and I may like her but right now she makes me want to yell.

I want to thank the author and the publisher for giving me this great opportunity to read and review this book. This series is second to none and is one of the very best dealing with small town USA.

Serial Killer Central is lucky to have such an elite policing force on hand! In this, the 15th installment in the series about Sheriff Alton and her love, Det. Kane, the team takes on a new evil. All while dealing with a wedding, and a very brief honeymoon.

Kiss Her Goodnight, while being the 15th book in the series, is a stand alone. Although I hadn't read any of the others previously, I was excited to try a new author and jumped right in. I did love the story line dealing with the killer. I found the premise behind his style of killing and his mental state to be interesting and it kept me reading.

The author has a large following and is on best seller lists, but part of my issue with the book was her phrasing. I immediately thought, this is not an American who has lived in Montana. A quick look online told me that she is British born, currently living in Australia, and well traveled. Still, there were terminology and factual lapses (in how the law would work in the US). Also, I found the premise of a team of former agents of various agencies (suggested black ops etc) would all settle near one another and be so beloved by the President that he would send his private jet to fly two of the to their honeymoon. The plot didn't seem to need the heavy hitting '"we can access federal toys normal cops can't'" kind of set up to solve the mystery. To me, also, the characters felt cardboard. I quite actually couldn't tell a couple of the characters apart until over half way thought the book when they finally had different tasks that reminded me of who exactly they were. The wedding sub plot could have been cut entirely or handled off the page, as it was just a distraction that did nothing to invest me in the lives and personal history of the couple. It too (given what happened during the honeymoon) seemed to be over the top and unnecessary. Overall, I was underwhelmed with the writing. It felt very thrown together and tossed off, as though the writer had a great plot idea and created a store display window of the book, instead of an entire play with differing sets and acts. Too one dimensional. I feel this will be an unpopular opinion, but for me, this book wasn't well written enough to entice me to read more of the series. .

I appreciate and thank NetGalley and Bookouture (Hachette Aus.) for letting me have this DRC of Kiss Her Goodnight in return for my honest review.

Kiss Her Goodnight by D.K. Hood is book #15 in the Detectives Kane and Alton series. Once again the citizens of Black Rock Falls find a psychopathic serial killer in their midst. Sheriff Jenna Alton, Deputy David Kane, their deputies and medical examiner Shane Wolfe have a tough case on their hands. FBI profiler Jo Wells and her partner Ty Carter assist as they are in town for Jenna and Dave's wedding. This is a fascinating storyline with plenty of suspense. A definite page-turner! I really like the characters in this series. They feel genuine and sincere. This book is a great addition to the series.

4.5⭐

Detectives Kane and Alton are back and about to tie the knot. That's if they survive long enough to make it to the altar.

As a sadistic killer has arrived in Black Rock Falls and this time Jenna, Dave and the team may have finally met their match.

And with a story packed full of twists and turns and a familiar face in the line of fire. D.K. Hood's fifteenth instalment is a thrill ride that I didn't want to put down, and it's a brilliant addition to one of my favourite series.

Which is why I would happily recommend it to others.

Not quite as character driven as some of the team's stories but it is an unusual plot
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this arc

It wouldn't be Black Rock Falls without a serial killer. This one is sadistic and hiding in plain sight. Following a disastrous honeymoon, Jenna and her team have their hands full with a killer that leaves no evidence. They finally catch a break when they find some evidence and DNA from very surprising source.
Aside from the lead up to the wedding, this was a suspenseful read. While I was not surprised by the return of a despicable character, I was disappointed with their final outcome.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC

Several women have disappeared to never been seen again, but some of them have not even properly been missed. When one of them happens to be a police, and she manages to send a message in a dead body, a body the culprit dumps to be found. He dumps several bodies, and Jenna has yet again a serial killer on the loose, and an absolutely crazy one (like there would be any sane ones...).

I had to finish the book in two sittings, since I wanted to know whodunnit as well as will the women be saved. Kane and Alton are not in town when it all started, but once they get back, all hell is loose. I enjoy the team, found the crazy town to be both charming and intimidating, and the townspeople are great characters. Brilliant!

The story itself is absolutely horrifying! The writing is excellent, and the story flows so well that I did not want the book to end (at the same time as I wanted to kick the culprit in the nards and make him suffer). The book kept me on the edge of my seat to the very end. An outstanding must read you do not want to miss!

And so we return to Black Rock Falls for book 15 in the Kane & Alton series and as with all the other books that I have read in the series I loved it!

I feel like i'm part of the community now and that the characters are like old friends and the grip that the series has continues to hold me in its spell.

I believe it takes a talent to keep writing a series that really engages and enthralls its readers and it's clear to see that Hood has this in spades.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily. Once again D.K. Hood hits one out of the park with her newest installment in the Detectives Kane and Alton series. I LOVE the characters in this series. You will finally see the long awaited wedding of Kane and Alton. You will also be taken into the depraved mind of a sadistic serial killer who devalues women and tosses them out like yesterday's garbage. You will learn that not all killers skulk around in the dark. Sometimes they parade themselves in front of everyone and appear so "normal". The body of a young woman is found on a local playground. She is scantily clad in lingerie and is wearing a mask that is glued to her face. Once again a killer is on the loose in Black Rock Falls and Sheriff Jenna Alton and her police force have their work cut out for them. because this killer is forensically skilled (he leaves no clues on the bodies). The method of death and the way this killer treats his victims will leave you chilled to the bone.

As usual when I read a book by D.K. Hood I am totally absorbed into the book from the first few pages. I feel as if I slipped into the town of Black Rock Falls for a period and also into the mind of a haunting and dark killer. Shivers and goosebumps! Even though the premise is very disturbing, you will be drawn in and will literally be cheering for the victims and the police. Once you start reading this book, you will not be able to put it down until the haunting conclusion. I am fully addicted to this series. You can read this book as a standalone, but once you read one of them... you will have to read them all! One of the main things I enjoy about her books is that they are clean. The mystery is great and the plot is intense, but the author does not feel the need to "dirty" up the book with foul language which makes this a much more enjoyable read!

Detectives Kane and Alton #15

When the body of a young woman is discovered in a local playground in the centre of Black Rock Falls. Sheriff Jenna Alton and and her Deputy David Kane rush to the scene. Jenna recoils with horror when she sees the body, dressed in a thin nightgown, her face covered by a terrifying Halloween mask. Days later, when another victim is found slumped against the fence of a local landfill site, with the same puncture wounds and macabre mask, Jenna's fears are confirmed. A serial killer is back in town and they're picking off women one by one.

We carry on three months after the previous book finished. We have a new serial killer for Jenna and her team to find, and I had no clue to who the serial killer was until it was revealed. We also have a wedding and honeymoon to celebrate. A character turns up from the previous book. The pace is fast, it can be horrendous to read in places, and there was plenty of suspects to choose from. This series never disappoints. I recommend that you read book 14 (if you haven't already) before reading this book. This fantastic series just keeps getting better with each new book.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #Bookouture and the author #DKHood for my ARC of #KissHerGoodnight in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to #NetGalley for my advance copy of #KissHerGoodnight by #DKHood
The latest instalment in the Jenna Alton and David Kane Series and they just keep getting better.
Tomorrow Jenna and David are getting married but today a body is found.
A young woman badly beaten and strangled has been left on display in the town. Can Jenna trust her team while she goes away for her honeymoon even though it is only a weekend.
A great story that can be read alone but is much better if you read the series.
They are so good.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It's been quiet of late in Black Rock Falls but Sheriff Jenna Alton isn't getting complacent, after all she and her team are responsible for keeping the citizens of murder central safe and well! So, when a body is discovered in a local playground she is disappointed but resigned to undertaking another major investigation.

Jenna and her Chief Deputy Dave Kane are travelling out of state when the first victim is joined by another but neither give any clue to either their identity or that of their killer. With time against them the offer of help from the FBI Field Office in Snakeskin Gully is gratefully accepted but, as they finally begin to move forward, a local woman disappears; is it coincidence or have things just got much more urgent?

Amazingly this is the fifteenth in this series and D K Hood still produces storylines of an incredibly high standard. The main protagonists have gradually increased in number and although Jenna Alton and Dave Kane are the main characters everyone else is as important and all are here once again. In many ways this is a pivotal personal episode in this saga but the crime is still central and there are definite hints to problems on the horizon which is always good!

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. This is yet another great read in a wonderfully written crime series.

Loved it! Book 15 and the intensity does not stop. The gangs all here and do I hear wedding bells???

What did I like? I love this dynamic duo and all the characters in this sleepy yet serial killer attracting town. Jenna and Kane battle through the wedding night only to arrive home to yet another sadistic killer that needs to be put down!

Would I recommend or buy? My shelf is filled of these lovely thrillers and I can’t wait to add this one. This is a gripping series and I just love it! Five huge stars! Give me more!

I received a complimentary copy ARC to read and voluntarily left a review! Fantastic book!

WOW! Still trying to catch by breath! Fortunately in between some horrific scenes, we have breathing moments following our intrepid team on the path searching for the killer. I love the way D.K. Hood puts us in the thought process of detectives, and officers as they search, how they come to a conclusion, etc. Rio got to put on his big boy boots and handle some of the investigation and we saw him with success, failures, frustration. I was right there with Jenna coming home from her honeymoon. My mind would have gone exactly where hers did and I don't have Dave by my side or at my six :( Poppy, well Poppy is like a boil on my tush and unfortunately there are many like her. Kudos for what she did, but the class act is Jenna. Jenna's decision got applause and heartfelt oh no's from me. I also got a chuckle on the where the Detective's desk was going to go. Classy and smart. Anyone else think our defense lawyer has some feelings for Jo? Hmmm. I will say I knew who it was, but D.K. Hood did so good with the herrings I was starting to question myself. The real win in this series, the reason it can go on for ever is they are like family to us, extended family. We want to see each one grow, whats happening in their lives. I have so many questions, so this could go on a log time - hopefully. Thank you for the arc NetGalley, Bookouture - I am addicted to this series and freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.

Always enjoy a trip to Black Rock Falls, or serial killer central. Book 15 and I seriously don’t know how DK Hood keeps this series so fresh. It can go on forever in my mind. They are always full of excitement and keep me intrigued. Once again, I read this in 2 sessions and loved it.

Jenna and Dave are preparing for their big day… finally right! It has been quiet the last few months in town but then there is a body discovered in the park.. the day before the wedding. Jenna being Jenna cannot let go, she is the sheriff and in charge. It soon becomes clear that this is a killer who is escalating and the bodies keep coming. Of course, things never go smoothly in this town. But joint forces with their FBI friends, can they stop this madman, especially when it gets personal.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for my advanced copy to read. Published June 1st. Cannot wait for book 16 already.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of Kiss Her Goodnight, the fifteenth novel to feature Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy Dave Kane of Black Rock Falls, Montana Sheriff’s Office.

When the body of a young woman, tortured and murdered, is found the quiet spell in Black Rock Falls is over. Two more unidentified bodies confirm that, once again, a serial killer is active in the town, but with no forensics and no identifications the going will be tough. Fortunately for them the third body provides a message that gets them moving.

I enjoyed Kiss Her Goodnight, which offers the series reader a sense of familiarity and solid ground, without losing the tension and excitement of a good read. It is fairly standard fare with a twisted killer hunting young women while Jenna and her team hunt him down. Obviously, there are twists in this tale and a well disguised perpetrator to maintain the interest, but the basic premise holds.

The novel is told from various points of view, namely the investigative team, the unnamed perpetrator and some of his victims. It gives the reader a wider perspective on events, but it will require a strong stomach as there is a fair amount of cruelty involved. On the subject of anatomy it will also require a strong throat to swallow some of the serendipitous events that move the plot forward. Yes, they are highly unlikely, but so what? The novel is entertaining and the forward momentum they provide adds to that entertainment.

Jenna and Dave get married at the start of this novel, so that puts the will they, won’t they scenario to bed, but the author has inserted a small bomb into this new reality that may offer fireworks in future novels. The first night of their honeymoon is a cracker, offering tension, excitement and danger. I loved it as so typical of Jenna and Dave. It makes up for the relatively low key denouement.

Kiss Her Goodnight is a good read that I can recommend.

The Detectives Kane and Alton Series is one of my favorite crime fiction series, so I was ready to read what was going on in their lives. This one was jam packed with the creepiness. Black Rock Falls is serial killer central and this killer is happy to have found the hunting ground that so many others have flocked to. He thinks he will outwit Jenna and her team and he enjoys playing games. I blew through this story like the wind! Fantastic read! Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC.

One of my favourite series and although we are on number 15 (with two prequels as well) there is nothing samey nor stale here. Finally it’s time for Kane & Alton to get married but that doesn’t stop the serial killers of Black Rock Falls for a second. A brilliant thriller of a plot that is both horrific and compulsive all at once. The whole cast are here, including a new character which Kane & Alton thought they might have seen the back of and a rollercoaster of a ride to the finish. Nice to see them out of their environment too, albeit briefly, for the honeymoon from hell
A cracking good read

Seriously good reading!!

Will Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy David Kane make it to the alter or will a serial killer throw all their plans into kaos?

Can they get into the mind of this latest serial killer who has moved to Black Rock Falls before a local becomes one of his victims?

This book has it all, love, romance, friendships, suspense/mystery and another twisted serial killer. If you love the series, this book delivers everything you have come to expect from D. K Hood, if you have never read a book in the series, you could pick up this book and still be absolutely gripped and follow along and no doubt it will make you want pick up book 1 and work your way through the series.
