Another fab plot by K.L Slater!!
Josie lives for her daughter Ivy and when Samuel, someone from her past is released from prison she is on edge and fears the worst - with good reason, Samuel killed her 8year old brother!!
The prologue alone was enough to keep the pages turning and the plot so shocking and providing many possibilities and twists that you don’t see what’s coming until it’s too late!

I have been following and reading K.L. Slater’s books from the beginning and her new offering Missing does not disappoint.
25 years ago, on the 14th of April 1993 Samuel Barlow was convicted for the murder of eight-year-old Jimmy Bennet for thirty years. But for good behavior he is being released 5 years early on parole.
Jimmy elder sister Josie is doing well in a café she runs but never got over that day when her little brother died of suffocation due to locked in a disused walk-in refrigerator. So, when she hears that he is being released she is scared that he will take out revenge on her and fears the safety of her little girl Ivy.
When Ivy goes missing from her child-minders. Josie straightaway knows who has her.
This is another great page turner from author with twists and turns that will keep you guessing and one those endings that you never see coming. 5 stars from me.

THE QUEEN OF TWISTS IS BACK! with an unforgettable read full of twists that left me shocked. I raced through this book in one sitting, I just had to finish it to see what happened to Josie's lovely little daughter Ivy and I was desperate to know who had taken her. I was gob smacked to say the least when the final twists were revealed and the culprit was revealed. It was so unexpected and I thought it was a totally different character. If you think you have worked out what, who, why Ivy went missing then you will be WRONG!. It's a story of love, loss, murder, jealousy and family connections. A cast of relatable characters and a plot that just has to be devoured. I loved everything about this book and huge congratulations to K.L Slater for another bestseller.

3.5 stars rounded up

My little girls room is dark. Her bed is empty. I turn on her unicorn nightlight and bury my face in her pillow, my heart breaking. I know who did this. His name is Samuel Barlow. He has pale sallow skin and res-rimmed icy=blue eyes. But no one will listen. As darkness falls and rain lashes against the window, there's a knock at my door and I open it to see the same eyes staring back at me. It's his mother and she says she can help me find my daughter.

Josie's daughter Ivy has gone missing and Josie is sure she knows who took her. This is one of these stories that pulls you in at the beginning and doesn't let you go until you finish. You just need to know what had taken place and how it ends. The pace is fast and the twists keep coming. I like the authors writing style and the way she can keep me on the edge of my seat. I did feel there were some loose ends still needed tying up, so I took half a star off my rating.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #Bookouture and the author #KLSlater for my ARC of #Missing in exchange for an honest review.

I typically find books from this author great and keeps my interest and i never want to stop reading! This one was a quick read, but I will admit it was not one of my favorites. There were some twists and turns that were a little evident, but the story line was one that was believable. What would you do if your child went missing, and yourself had connections with a previous missing child?

A good thriller that keeps twisting and turning! I found myself finding every single character suspicious. Enjoyed this one!

My Review:
Wow, wow, wow!!!!! I was not prepared for all the twists and turns this book had to offer. I was truly shocked and speechless all the way up to the very end. I’ve read many of this authors books and she never disappoints not once. This book really pulled at my heart strings for so many reasons. It also showed that evil does exist in the world and it comes in so many different shapes and sizes. Another topic brought up was the good old nature versus nurture debate. I still don’t know which side I’m on in that debate. I speed through this book wanting more as each chapter passed. I loved every single page of this one. I can’t wait to read more by this author. Hopefully, the wait is not that long.

In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Another brilliant read from KL Slater.
Josie is a single mum to an 8 year old girl, living her life isn’t he shadow of the past. Decades ago, Jodie’s beloved 8 year old brother Jimmy was murdered by a local teenager. Samuel Barlow has now served his time and is due for release. But what does that mean for Josie and her daughter Ivy? When Ivy goes missing from the garden of her childminder, Josie just knows that Barlow has her daughter. What Josie isn’t yet aware of is what Barlow’s mother Maggie knows - not just about Ivy being missing but about Josie’s life from them being neighbours when Jimmy was alive right through until today. And can DI Helena Price solve the case and bring Ivy home?
This book kept me guessing, even when I did think at one point that I had a plot point sussed. The sign of a great writer!
Thank you NetGalley for my copy.

This book had me completely gripped from the very first moment to the very last. There were plenty of times that I had my heart in my throat, it is such a great psychological thriller. K.l.slater really knows how to write an engaging and addictive book. Don't miss this or other books this author has written. I promise you won't be sorry.

A fast paced, well crafted missing child novel written from a clever angle. I loved the idea of ‘knowing’ who was at fault and having to figure out the ‘how’s’ and ‘why’s’ so you can prove guilt.

This is a very female centric novel. Primarily focused on the relationship and bonds (or lack of) between mother and daughter. It’s noticeable that all the main males characters, Samuel and Terry (Josie’s husband) and even Maggie’s husband Reggie are all alcoholics, gamblers, child killers and basically rubbish role models for the children and wives that feature.

Missing explores the difficulties and stress of being a mother and how we’re all just doing our best but ultimately none of us really have a clue! It raises questions about how the way in which you raise your child can deeply influence their lives, how they relate to others and how they go on to live their own lives. Parenting can have positive and negative effects on a child’s personality, it can enhance strengths and highlight their weaknesses. Having a parent or significant adult in your life is such a fundamental element of growing up this book makes you question who is at greater fault for the crimes they go on to commit? Is evil born from nature or nurture?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book by KL Slater. It was pacey and had lots of interesting twists and turns. Some of the twists towards the end were predictable but it doesn’t take away the enjoyment of the story as it unfolds. Not my favourite from this author but certainly a worth while read!

Josie is a divorced mother whose daughter disappears from the child minder's house. Josie is understandably frantic with worry, as her brother had disappeared at the same age and was found dead.
His murderer, Samuel Barlow, has recently been released on parole and Josie is certain that Samuel is getting his revenge on her for her part in his capture and imprisonment.

Many secrets are revealed in this book, and many lies told and believed.

One the whole, I enjoyed this book, and am a huge fan of K L Slater's novels.

There is a mistake in the book though, about 71% through, in Chapter 51. Josie's mother has her hair in rollers, goes indoors to take them out, and emerges with her hair in curls.
She gets soaked with water, and then has rollers hanging from her hair??
That part should be corrected

Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for the ARC, Much appreciated.

I adore KL Slater’s writing and with every book comes another fabulous thriller.

I’m terms of being a psychological thriller, it has everything we love, various villains, tense scenes and the culprit you’re convinced is the suspect and the underlying psychological element that we all love about the genre.

This novel took me my surprise and for once I didn’t guess who the culprit was which is refreshing. I was surprised at the end once it was revealed and felt quite quilty for the character I’d originally accused.

KL Slater certainly knows how to pull out all the stops with her novels. The interweaving threads of suspicion and tense scenes. The additional lies and deceits and the story is packed full of punches, twists and an ending to please any psychological thriller lover.

KL Slater brings us another fabulously written book that will have readers once again enthralled.

I didn’t feel the usual suspense and intrigue which are the hallmark of this author. The story was slow and was structured more like a family drama with the police a useless bunch. Not her best work.

Hooked from the first to the last page Missing kept me reading late into the night and I finally turned the last page at 2.am. Yes this book is that good. Mind blowing and definitely not what I was expecting. Another fantastic five star read from one of my favourite must read authors. Loved it.

Too slow

The cover of the book tells that a woman’s daughter was kidnapped, so there are no spoilers, but it doesn’t happen until nearly a third of the way through. The plot was good, but the pace glacial. Somewhere before the half-way point I started skipping several chapters at a time. I eventually went nearly to the end and read the who and why of the kidnapping. But I just didn’t care.

This book just wasn’t for me.

WOW,WOW,WOW, this author gets better and better. I read this book within 24 hours, I couldn't put it down. Amazing story and a must read in my opinion.

The tragic death of her little brother irrevocably changed Josie’s life when she was just a teenager. Their neighbor, Samuel Barlow, was convicted of the crime. Years later, Josie is a divorced mom and successful business owner when her little girl goes missing – right after Barlow is released from prison. Josie is convinced that Barlow has kidnapped her child, but it seems like Barlow’s mother is the only one who believes her.

K.L. Slater is an awesome author and an auto-read for me, and while “Missing” is a solid thriller, it isn’t my favorite book from the talented Slater. While it’s plenty twisty and turny, I just couldn’t connect with Josie. I found her mental self-flagellation to be a bit repetitive, and I was annoyed at the repeated implication that focusing on her career somehow made her a bad mom. I was excited to see DI Helena Price again, who was a character in another of Slater’s books, and who I hope we see again in the future!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me an advance copy of this book.
