I have a love/hate relationship with these books. Love the characters and crime aspects but cannot stand how her kids get involved or is a target in every book. It makes them a bit farcical, if that amount of danger was experienced because of your job, any good parent would have quit.

First book I have read of this author, but it won't be my last. Totally gripping, didn't want to put it down. Lots of characters which at times was hard to follow but that didn't detract from the brilliant story. Some sensitive topics so maybe should have a warning. Totally recommend

I am a fan of this series and as I finish one I’m already looking forward to the next. This didn’t disappoint.

Lottie and her team are investigating the brutal murder of a teenage girl. There’s suspects galore but no apparent motive. Then the next teenager turns up dead. All complicated by the fact that Sean, her son could be a suspect!

This is a fast paced book and you feel the frustrations of Lottie and her team as nobody is telling the whole truth!

As expected they solve the crime. The guilty one was unexpected for me, and the motive shocking!

I enjoyed the banter between Lottie and her team, her frustrations with her mum Rose and the way she avoided her boss! I do think this book missed Boyd abs the calming influence he has over Lottie. Their relationship is a great theme running throughout the series.

Boyd is in Spain during this book connecting with his young son Sergio. A son he never knew he had. Looking forward to seeing how this affects his relationship with Lottie, and if his ex Jackie will return and cause trouble!

Read in 2 sittings, if sleep hadn't prevailed I would have devoured in one.
This chilling and utterly compelling story is one of those books which grabs your attention from the very beginning. The author has really got into the characters minds and explored the different emotions. This is a fantastic series!

I guess a lot of people will agree with me. When you are reading and are totally immersed in the story, the book always ends too soon. You would not mind if the author added a few more pages, a few more chapters. Well, this author really has a treat for her readers. A book that consists of nearly 500 pages of utter delight.

Of course I am talking about the storytelling. The subjects she uses are far from delightful. They are even very dark and it did not only affect Lottie and her team. I had my stomach doing summersaults too.

Alcohol and drugs seem to be the recipe for a good time for a lot of (young) people. But when something ugly happens and you cannot remember anything anymore, you can thank the stars it’s Detective Parker who is tasked with the investigation. She digs and digs until she gets to the bottom of it. A lot of people would end up in jail innocently with that load of evidence found and not being able to clarify them.

But life is more than work alone even though it seems to Lottie she only has time for work and not a lot for her private life. She knows she is needed there too. Her priority goes to the case though because she wants to solve it, put the culprits behind bars and prevent other people from being killed.

I hope now she can spend it bit of time with her loved ones before her next case, because she has some things to work out there too.

I loved this book. It is not as straightforward as you would think in the beginning and there are a lot of twists and turns. A lot of people are lying through their teeth, like there is no tomorrow, but Lottie will unmask them all. Very often people are not who they say they are or who they want others to believe they are. 5 stars

This is an emotive case for Lottie Parker. Someone is preying on teenagers in Ragmullin. A teenage girl has been brutally murdered and a young boy is missing. Both were last seen at a party attended by Lottie's sixteen year old son and the detective thinks he might know more than he's saying. The Garda team have been up against many an evil killer but this case has them all reeling.
I was hooked on this story from page one. The tension is almost palpable and the fear Lottie is feeling over the safety of her own teenagers comes across well. The fact that her mother is ill and Boyd is away doesn't help matters. I thought
the way Boyd's trip to Spain is woven into the story is stretching coincidence a little too far but can see how it is necessary. My only real complaint is that I thought the glimpses into the killer's mind were a bit over the top and didn't really add to the story. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Murder and mayhem…intrigue…secrets…teenagers…family and friends…murder…these themes run throughout this book written by a talented author…guessing doesn’t work in determining the end of this novel. The reader must read closely and determine what the clues and foreshadowing mean. Enjoy this one…it does move somewhat slowly but is still a good book.

Amazing! Could not put it down and read until my eyes couldn’t cope anymore. 10/10 and would recommend to anyone who loves a good page turner.

Patrica Gibney – the Guilty Girl. This is book 11 in the Lottie series and Gibney just keeps getting better. As a native from near Mullingar all these novels have a special resonance with me. This time Lottie is faced with the murder of a teenager which even sees her son Sean entangled. The question is can she keep him out of the investigation while at the same time not doing anything illegal and keeping the big boss off her back. There are several threads to be followed and the plot twists around a magpie figure who wants to feather their nest. There are multiple suspects and lines to follow and even as the story develops we can never be sure of who’s a victim and who’s a perpetrator. Not a spoiler per se but the element of Sexual abuse and grooming could be triggering for certain people. The focus on the story always centers more on the crime and investigation than Lotties family and Boyd are even more peripheral than as has been seen in previous stories. Lynch, Kirby and McKewon are present and correct but again there is less development of their characters before. This is probably the only downside as I do like knowing what’s happening to all of them and want to see Boyd becoming into his own. Roll on the next episode in this great series.

This is book 11 of the fabulous DI Lottie Parker series and it was so good be back with Lottie and all the other characters in a series that just gets better and better.
What I loved about the book is just how real a character Lottie Parker is tough and feisty with chaos always seeming to follow her she takes it all in her stride and she really does need all her determination in this latest case.
The story is a dark one with some uncomfortable subjects but Patricia Gibney handles it all perfectly with compassion and care, there is a lot going on in the plot line and although I had some suspicions it really kept me on my toes and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I look forward very much to the next in the series I always do worry that a series may become stale but there is no chance with this one and as I said it just gets better and the development of the characters is excellent.
So a great read that I can highly recommend and many thanks to Patricia Gibney for a brilliant read.

Good book! This book had the usual, it had suspense, intrigue, action, murder and mystery! And quite a few who done it! The storyline was interesting and flowed nicely, its definitely worth reading but just ok for me?! I would recommend it but still was just a decent read for me!
