Mrs. Morris and the Pot of Gold by Traci Wilton is the sixth book in the paranormal cozy A Salem B&B Mystery series. Each book in the series holds it’s own mystery that is fully solved so all books can be read as a standalone or in any order if choosing to do so. There will be some character development that carries over book to book though for those that follow the series from the beginning.
The first book of the series introduced readers to Charlene Morris who after losing her husband had needed a fresh start in new surroundings so she decided to move from Chicago to New England. Charlene found a wonderful historic mansion in Salem and thought starting her own bed and breakfast in the touristy town would be the change she needed. What Charlene didn’t expect was to have her new B&B come with it’s own resident ghost.
Charlene’s first experience trying to help solve a murder came when she found that her resident ghost, Jack, had been murdered and needed help finding his killer. Now Charlene is faced with yet another murder to be solved when Charlene had been hoping for a great night of festivities with her B&B guests at the dinner hosted by Salem’s Irish community at the Ancient Order of Hibernians club to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Instead of a great night Charlene ends up witnessing a murderer running away from the scene of the crime so with the help of her resident ghost Charlene vows to track down another murderer before they can strike again.
I have been following the A Salem B&B Mystery series since the very beginning and have gotten to know the characters and setting quite well at this point. Being a fan of crossing genres in my reading I was drawn to this from the start and I have really enjoyed the supernatural touch to this cozy series with their being a ghost as part of the story and helping with investigations. Never really thought of St. Patrick’s in Salem as it’s more known for the witchy side but this was a fun twist to enjoy while solving another nice mystery. As always looking forward to continuing this series in the future.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
Mrs. Morris is enjoying St Paddy’s day with her B&B guests at an AOH event when she runs into someone being attacked. The victim eventually dies. Mrs. Morris uses her investigative skills aided by her live in ghost to help uncover the culprit especially since she has a suspicious guest staying at the inn. This is a great series.
I have read several books in the Salem B&B series and have enjoyed all of them. The characters are well developed and I love getting to know Charlene, Jack, Sam, and definitely Silva, Charlene’s cat. Lots of twists and turns and fun activities are buried in the pages. The story will keep your attention and have you guessing until the end who is guilty of murder. The St. Patrick’s Day focus and the Paddy’s Day food served had my stomach growling. I wanted to travel to Salem and stay in Charlene’s B&B. I think I would love the setting and the things to do in the area.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

This is the 6th mystery in the Salem B&B mystery series. Charlene Morris has been in Salem about two years and she is hosting a nice group of guests over the Saint Patrick’s Day holiday. Charlene has rented a van to take all of her guests to a St. Patrick’s Day celebration at the Ancient Order of Hibernians in which they are supposed to have their own table but when they arrive, they are split up into a couple of groups and Charlene ends up sitting with Shannon with one of the organizers of the event and her son Aiden. When a cousin of Shannon’s arrives without a ticket to the event and drunk, Charlene tries to keep out of the family drama. As her group is ready to depart one of her guests says she left her coat inside so Charlene offers to run inside to grab it and overhears an argument and scuffle and is almost knocked over. When she goes to investigate, she finds Shannon’s cousin Connor on the floor and alive but unconscious. The police arrive and once again Charlene is involved in another mystery and murder when Connor dies several days later. Charlene uses the resources available to her, but is suspicious when one of her new guests arrives (George Clooney look alike) and keeps showing up at locations Charlene is at investigating she becomes very suspicious. When Sam the police detective appears to know him, both Jack (her handsome ghost) and Charlene really wonder what is going on. Charlene’s parents arrive in town unplanned and this adds a twist to the investigation. I love the relationship of Charlene and Avery her teenage worker along with Minnie her housekeeper and cook. I also enjoy how Jack can help the investigation while confined to the B&B. This is a great series and the mystery keeps you engaged from page 1. Another winner.
This was a really fun story, Charlene runs a bed and breakfast in Salem and while out at a party with her guests she meets Shannon who is hosting the St. Patrick's day celebration. There is a murder and Charlene finds the body and sees a person run from the scene. Charlene starts to investigate the murder and find out who the killer is.
I really loved this book in a new to my series and author. I can't wait to read the next one. The characters and location really add to the plot. This book keeps you guessing until the end
I received this book for free for an honest review from Netgalley.
This is one of my favorite series hoping that they continue after this book. I love how they always incorporate Salem history into their books.
Let me start with this is not a stand alone read. This is book 6. Start with 1.
I know I'm in the minority with a 1 star review. I would have DNFd if it wasn't a netgalley read. I like cozy paranormal. I liked that it was placed in Salem at a BnB. And I liked that the protagonist is near my age. That was pretty much the end of the likes and it was all before I started reading. This is the first in the series that I read. I rarely start a cozy series with the very 1st book. And typical do not struggle. This was a struggle. I did not connect with any character. There were way too many characters to keep track of. And the protagonist gave me whiplash with her changing thought and opinions. She started out with making it sound like 43 is too old. Then later she said she is too young to have gray hair. And Sam, the cop. I still can't tell if she likes him or not. One minute she says how good looking he is and praises him. Then she complains he basically uses her to get info. And he comes off as a jerk. Shows no respect towards her. General concern but not respect. And the ghost that haunts the B&B was interesting. But her interactions & talk of how she felt about him came off creepy. Not like the paranormal romance in The Ghost & Mrs. Muir. I ended up with so many more question on why she acts & reacts the way that she does. I hoped the ending would help save the story. No. She runs off with the person that she hasn't liked or trusted the whole book. And who suddenly has his own personality whiplash once he goes off with her to find the murderer that came out of left field. I was excited to receive this eARC from netgalley. And I'm sorry to give this such a bad review. I wish I could say it just wasn't the right time for me to read it or I should have read the previous books. But I honestly don't believe that would have helped.
Mrs. Morris and the Pot of Gold is a wonderful book in a series. Once again the reader is treated to a visit from Charlene's parents, though this visit goes very well due to a change in her mother's personality. Gone is hypercritical and even combative mother that Charlene is used to and a kind and very easygoing mother is in her place. It even causes Charlene to worry about her mother's health, though everything appears to be fine there. One of Charlene's guests this time around is very interesting, though acts very suspicious. I kind of figured out what his deal was early on in his stay at Charlene's, but I got the why part of it wrong. The murder mystery was very clever, even if the solution was a bit out there. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in this series, given how this one ended. It'll be fun seeing what happens next.
Mrs. Morris and the Pot of Gold is another great addition to this series. This time around Charlene gets mixed up in the mystery surrounding a tight-knit family and a murder during the St. Patrick's Day festivities.
Jack, the friendly B&B ghost, makes an appearance as he helps Charlene as only a ghost can. Jack is one of my favorite parts of this series. Not sure I would want a ghost in my home...but it's fun to read about them LOL
Charlene gets herself into some tight spots throughout this investigation, and makes some new friends along the way. There is also a mystery surrounding one of her B&B guests that she, of course, has to unravel.
Another fun installment in the Salem B&B cozy mystery series. I have loved every book so far and can't wait to see what mishaps and schemes Charlene gets up to next.
I sincerely appreciate the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy. All opinions expressed are my own.

Salem Bed and Breakfast proprietress, Charlene Morris, prides herself on how her business has taken off. This Inn has a secret though…Her guests and even her employees have no idea about the handsome ghost residing there and providing support for her investigations. Taking her guests to a St Patrick's dinner event, Charlene sees an attack and becomes involved in attempting to figure out the whodunnit. There's something fishy going on with the victim's family, and one of her guests is acting very suspicious. Of course Charlene, with Jack's help, sets out to uncover the secrets and solve the crime.
As this is the sixth in the series, I felt like I was missing backstory and context. I’d recommend reading this series in order. I would have gotten more enjoyment from having read some previous books. There were a lot of new characters introduced in this book and it was a little overwhelming. I do like this series and will likely read the next one.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Mrs. Morris and the Pot of Gold by Traci Wilton, the 6th in the Salem B&B mystery series, brings us back to Salem just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. Charlene has taken her guests to a local corned beef and cabbage dinner which turns out to be less than magical when the “leprechaun” is murdered. Detective Sam Holden is called in to investigate but Charlene, with her resident ghost Dr. Jack Strathmore providing covert support, can’t help but get involved.
This was a twisty tale with plenty of suspects and a trail of clues that will keep you guessing. I enjoy the cast of characters and their heartwarming relationships. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy and all opinions are my own.). It may just be time for Charlene’s relationships with Sam and Jack to take a new twist or turn to prevent the series from getting stale.
⭐⭐⭐.5 -- Cute cover on this one!
I quite enjoyed the previous book in this series (my first introduction to these characters), so I was looking forward to diving into this installment. And it was enjoyable, just not as much as the previous book. It could be because I prefer Halloween as a setting in my cozy mysteries, 🤷🏻♀️ The writing was still great. The plot was interesting (yet pretty straightforward), and the characters remained likable. However, I did find Charlene to be kind of annoying at times in this one. There was also a thread left hanging concerning Charlene's mother. Perhaps we'll find out more in the next book?? In any case, I look forward to seeing what is in store for these characters in the next book.

This is a mystery as juicy as a corned beef and cabbage dinner and as fast paced as an Irish jig. Charlene Morris is going to need more than just the luck of the Irish to solve this one. Charlene’s B&B is THE idyllic place to stay when visiting Salem, Mass because you are made to feel like a member of the family, not just a guest and the social hour is amazing. After so many other misadventures (no you don’t have to be familiar with them), Charlene had no intentions of getting involved in this latest murder mystery, how was she to know that she was going to be at the wrong place at the right time just by retrieving a coat for a guest. With all the suspects saying they didn’t do it, she and her spirited housemate must figure out who is and who isn’t full of malarkey. This story has a very good cast of characters, red herrings, and an unlikely partnership. I am thinking that this story pairs well with a chicken, spinach and mushroom quiche followed by a dessert of lacy cookies with orange zest and pecans, as both are made by Minnie, the amazing B&B cook.
I love Traci's Wilton's Mrs. Morris series, and this book continues my love affair! Murder aside, I love hearing about the everyday workings of her B&B in Salem, Massachusetts.

Mrs. Morris and the Pot of Gold by Traci Wilton
Another great book in the Mrs. Morris series!! I love the premise of a B&B in Salem, a city rich with history and tales of ghostly things.
Will the luck of the Irish help Charlene (and Jack – her resident ghost and confidant) to unravel the killing at the local corn beef and cabbage dinner? Will Charlene allow Sam (a local police detective) to do his job without her “help”?
Each novel has a new list of characters staying at the B&B which allows for great side stories, while the usual list of main characters (Charlene, Jack, Sam, Avery and Minnie) grace each book.
This was a great cozy mystery. I can’t wait for the next installment of the Mrs. Morris series.
Princess Fuzzypants here: I have enjoyed the bittersweet love affair between B & B owner ,Charlene, and her resident ghost, Jack. They are so perfect together other than the fact that she is alive and he is dead. But they have formed a relationship and although he is tied to the B & B, he helps her unravel the various murder mysteries in which she has become embroiled. When she goes off property, local detective, Sam, tries his best to protect her. Both he and Charlene would like it to be more personal but with Jack as the the third in the triangle, Charlene knows it can go no further.
This time there is a murder at the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. The black sheep of a local family has barged into the party and sets off a series of events that ends up with another murder. As Charlene gets nearer to the truth, it could turn deadly for her too. It seems the family of the deceased is rife with villains and an overflow of skeletons in the closet. But what is the big secret they are hiding and who is knocking them off and why? Does it involve the mysterious guest at the B & B whom Sam seems to know. Good guy or bad guy? Charlene is determined to find out.
She is an unstoppable force once she gets on the case. More often than not, she tries to be careful when she steps into the unknown but she is relentless. I think when she goes close to the line, I forgive her because I enjoy the relationships she has forged not only with the two men but with the other people associated to her B & B. Good series. Good story. Five purrs and two paws up.
A charming mystery with a resident ghost who helps Charlene, a bed and breakfast owner, solve a murder. I love the characters, the guests that stay at the B&B and the descriptions of the places that Charlene goes to gather clues. Who knew a ghost could be your best friend!
I tend to have mixed reviews about these books, some are better than others. Some the plots seem a little sketchy. I tend to enjoy the Halloween tales the most. This one was good enough to finish but had me a bit befuddled in parts.
Mrs. Morris is taking her guests at Charlene's Bed and Breakfast to the St. Patrick's Day dinner in the town rich in history of Salem, MA. When she stumbles upon an altercation and the unconscious victim winds up dying, she is once again drawn to the investigation. Her strange guest, Sheffer LeCroix, adds to the mystery.
I appreciate the authors' use of Salem lore in these books. I feel like Charlene is a nosy and intrusive host most of the time and the weirdo love triangle with the ghost and Sam is getting a bit old.
Salem B&B owner, Charlene Morris, prides herself on how successfully her business has taken off as well the level of care she provides for her guests. Her guests, nor employees, know about the handsome ghost residing there and providing support for her investigations. As this is the sixth in the series, you would get more enjoyment from having read some previous books, but it is definitely not necessary. Taking her guests to a St Patrick's dinner event, Charlene sees an attack and becomes enmeshed in attempting to figure out the arrack worse. My only quibble was keeping straight all the new Irish characters and their relationships to one another.
