I loved this woman fiction! I loved to follow Freya in her quest to find her new happiness after her soon to be husband Matthew calls off their wedding practically at the altar. This part was heartbreaking. Freya is a wonderful character. Her friends Ruby and Leo are amazing supporting characters, kind, and caring. They helped her to go through the wedding season with some challenges, and it works! The storyline has it all. It is heart-wrenching, funny, flirty, and romantic. The story is very written, sweet, and engaging. I liked the banter, the humor, and the hilarious situations that happened in Freya's life. The narration was superb! Daphne Kouma’s voice is very pleasant to listen to. I recommend this audiobook.

While I am not sure this is entirely romance, this story of Freya and the aftermath of her break up is so good. When Freya's fiancee changes his mind the day before their wedding, she is clearly devastated. In order to get through all of the weddings she must attend this summer season, her best friends help her put together a plan. She must complete a task at each wedding she attends.

The friendships in this book are just so incredibly fun. Lots of writers can share great friendships, but I love the ones that Katy Birchall writes in her books. I adored the texts and the conversations and their shared history. I come expecting a traditional love story, but fall in love with the whole cast along the way.

I loved the narrator so much and immediately searched for more of her books to listen to!

This was such a thoroughly enjoyable story. Freya is left in a closet the day before her wedding by her fiance, Matthew. They were the first wedding of the season and she now has to get through the rest of them as a single woman. Thankfully her friends are there to save the day. They give her a summer wedding bucket list to distract her and also so she can still enjoy herself. In the midst of these sometimes silly or embarrassing tasks, she starts to find herself. She also meets Jamie. They start out as nemeses for competing drink companies, but as they keep running into each other they find more in common. I loved how Freya didn’t immediately jump into a new relationship. I wanted to join her in kicking Matthew, but it showed how strong and independent she could be.

Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for sending me a copy of this audiobook! All opinions are my own!

When I went into this book, I think I was expecting a romance, and it doesn't really feel like that's what I got. I have to say that I was a little bored for probably the first half of it. It felt like all Freya was doing was moping about Matthew and nothing was really happening. There was a lot of reminiscing and worrying and not a lot going on. I do think that book picked up in the second half with the actual wedding tasks, but the book was still slow for me.

The best part of the book was Freya's friends, and I honestly wish there'd been a lot more of them in it. I found myself really annoyed that most of Freya's thoughts were about a man I didn't even care for, and I wish we could have seen more with Jamie instead. Their relationship did evolve really sweetly, and I really enjoyed the time that we did get to see them together. I wish there'd been a lot more of them together because those were the parts where I really enjoyed the book.

If you like books where characters go on mental and emotional journeys, learn things about themselves and life, then I'd say that you'll definitely enjoy this book!

The Wedding Season starts off with Freya on top of it all–the perfect job, a calendar full of friends’ weddings to attend for the summer, and just a day away from saying “I do” to her long-term boyfriend. Her future goes off the rails when her fiance unexpectedly calls off the wedding, but she’s determined to get through her friends’ wedding season–all seven ceremonies–with grace and dignity.

She tries to keep herself distracted with planning, traveling, and attending the other wedding weekends, all the while convinced Matthew will come to his senses and reconcile. One couple works with her to come up with a series of tasks to help her get through the season without breaking down. While some of the tasks are super goofy, seeing Freya diligently work through the list is really inspiring, because we slowly but surely see her not only healing, but growing into a stronger person along the way.

If the single girl on the cover wasn’t a clue enough, this book is definitely more in the woman’s fiction/chicklit category. However, I think most romance lovers will be pleased with the consolation prize of a decent love storyline along the way. This was a lovely story of the lessons learned when life doesn’t go as planned, and the importance of strong friendship bonds to help us get through those plot twists.

I listened to the audiobook thanks to an ALC from Macmillan Audio in the NetGalley shelf app, and Daphne Kouma lent her voice to such a pleasant listening experience. Her British accent was enchanting and enjoyable to listen to. She brought a lighthearted intonation to the narration, but also captured the more melancholic moments with ease.

I received an ARC copy of this from NetGalley.

When the wedding season doesn’t go as you originally planned just have your two best friends give you a wedding season agenda!

Would you agree to this craziness and fun?!

Maybe that is just what you need to grow and learn that maybe what is in store is better than you had pictured!

I really enjoyed this book, it made me laugh out loud and gave me all the feels.

I think some parts could have been removed to make it a quicker read, some seemed slow. Overall I enjoyed and would recommend to certain friends!

The Wedding Season by Katy Birchall is a good listen full of emotions. I couldn't imagine being virtually jilted at the alter, and all of the ramifications to follow. The relationship between Freya and her mother wasn't unusual, yet it was unfortunate until the end. I was glad she had such wonderful friends to get her through that difficult time. The British humor of this rom-com didn't necessarily appeal to me, but I do agree that Prosecco does help most situations. The narrator Daphne Kouma was great showing her emotions and brought the characters to life. Thank you #NetGalley and #Macmillan Audio for allowing me to listen to this book

On the day before her wedding, Freya's Groom-to-Be unleashes on her the realization that he's had (many months prior, might I add) that this wedding and life with Freya is not what he actually wants. Heartbroken Freya is consoled by her friends during, well, "the wedding season", a presented with a series of fun challenges for each wedding she is to attend/be part of to get her through. This heart-warming tale makes for a light and fun read, right up until the very end. I look forward to reading more by Katy Birchall. #theweddingseason #netgalley

When Freya is left a the altar by her fiance, she’s not sure how she’s going to get through the wedding season ahead of her. Soon her friends have a plan – Freya must perform a series of challenges at each of the 7 weddings she’s going to attend.

In the process, she tries to put her relationship behind her and get over the heartbreak while celebrating her friends and loved ones. This charming tale had me smiling and cheering for Freya and her heart.

Being dumped in a broom closet the day before her wedding has Freya Scott dreading the “wedding season”. To help get her through the upcoming celebrations, (and to get her mind off of her ex-fiancé Matthew) her friends have come up with a check list and Freya must accomplish one task at each wedding. From being the last one standing on the dance floor to running naked through the hotel corridor, Freya reluctantly agrees.

The Wedding Season follows Freya‘s life after Matthew. It shows Freya learning to do things on her own and pushing herself out of her comfort zone. There is also a storyline that follows Freya and her mother‘s relationship. It hasn’t been the best since she walked out and left Freya, her brother, and father but, after what happens with the wedding her mother reaches out.

If you were looking for a light, fluffy, laugh out loud romcom this isn’t yet. The story is more serious, more about moving on and finding yourself after coming out of a long-term relationship. Yes, there are some funny parts and I enjoyed Freya as a character. I do recommend audiobook. The narrator, Daphne Kouma, did a wonderful job. Easy to listen to and follow.

Thank you to NetGalley abs the publisher for the opportunity to listen to an early recording of this audiobook.

As always, all opinions are my own.

Just a fun story! Freya is dumped the day before her wedding. Matthew her boyfriend for a dozen years decides they don’t fit together anymore, Not the way to start the wedding season, her’s was to be the first of the eight weddings she has this year. Her BFFs Ruby and Leo come up with a plan that Freya must complete a challenge at each wedding, this way she will be distracted from her heartbreak. Love that banter between herself and with her friends. The overcoming heartbreak and the fear to move on, life will continue. The narrator did a excellent job, between her and the storyline I added a extra lap around the track.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story. #NetGalley #TheWeddingSeason #Macmillan Audio

What started out as devastatingly sad and disappointing feeling so many raw emotions for Freya, turned into a fun story that has you laughing out loud. I became proud of Freya by the end of the book for everything that she has done and worked through in an effort to move on in life.

Although there was a complicated relationship between Freya and her mom, which is completely understandable from their past history, it provided an additional layer to understanding Freya and how she perceives relationships.

This is a such a good romcom that balances heavy emotions with laugh out loud moments in a great way! This was a rollercoaster of a ride that you're not going to want to miss.

Really loved this book. It was a fantastic slow burn. The FmC character had my heart as she navigated her life after getting jilted the day before her wedding. So sad and heartbreak

I loved this so much!! It just might be my favorite contemporary/women's fic/rom-com of the year, so far.

The setup will be somewhat familiar to women's fic/romance readers - a woman jilted right before the wedding has to move on while enduring humiliation, heartbreak, and a waning hope for reconciliation. What I expected and what I received, were polar opposites. The author took that familiar set-up and made it uniquely and creatively her own. The writing was fresh and fun, and the banter was organic and witty.

Freya was completely relatable and I was empathetic to her actions and reactions, good and bad. It made the story that much more entertaining. I also enjoyed how Freya's different relationships were represented. Her friends and family were wonderful support and I loved that author didn't resort to vacuous or vicious female behavior to create conflict.

The overall story leaned towards women’s fiction since it focused heavily on Freya's life after its implosion, but it delivered like a rom-com movie where the girl gets the guy at the end a la slow-burn style reminiscent of You've Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle. It's a rewarding enemies-to-friends-to-love romance interspersed smoothly within Freya's story. And there were plenty of interactions with our hero Jamie to have me clamoring for more and feeling elated with their lovely ending.

Overall, Freya's personal growth was authentic and nicely mixed with true LOL moments, clever banter, and realistic characterizations. It's a book for my keeper shelf.

Notes regarding the audiobook:
In true Brit lit form, the audio presentation was delicious. Aside from her native British tongue, the narrator handled the different accents well and her delivery on all fronts was impeccable. The various moments of humor, romance, and sensitivity were spot-on.

No Spoiler Review 👇🏻

This book follows Freya, it’s the day before her wedding and her fiancé Matthew breaks it off. She was supposed to start the wedding season, all the weddings from spring to summer. She must deal with this massive loss and go to 7 more weddings this season for her friends. Her best friends cheer her up, and come up with a challenge for Freya to complete at each wedding. It’s so hilarious and fun! I giggled so many times.

This book is more of a woman’s fiction book with some romance in the background, but it was still good. This book is about getting over a loss, good friends and having fun.

It was a little slow to start and reads more like a woman’s fiction than romance as it’s tagged(why I gave it 3.5 stars) but overall a fun read. It’s a good light book for summer.

This one was fairly fluffy but with a bit of substance as well. It was a bit sad but also heartwarming, and it made me literally laugh out loud a few times; it was reminiscent of Bad Luck Bridesmaid in that way, as well as in the way it ended. It seems this book is the latest in the new rom-com trend of happily(ish)-ever-after endings where the protagonists don’t definitely end up with their love interests. I don’t hate that, but sometimes I really do just want an unapologetically blissful and fairytale-esque conclusion. Anyway, it wasn’t my favourite book ever, but I did like it and appreciated the humour. It was a fun read!

Sad and not as uplifting as I would’ve hoped. It was funny at times but I was looking for something different. Loved the narrator and I hope others love it

Freya has to attend eight weddings this season with the first being her very own to Matthew. The wedding season starts out in an unexpected way when Freya is dumped the night before her wedding. Obviously dreading attending so many weddings, Freya's best friends assign her a task to complete at each wedding to distract her.

Breakups are the worst, aren't they?

It is hard not to love a character with a broken heart and I was definitely a fan of Freya. The way she handled her breakup was mostly mature and sometimes messy which to me, felt totally authentic.

When relationships end, people often only remember the good times for the sake of torturing themselves. What I loved about Freya is that she was able to look back at her relationship with Matthew and understand that maybe her relationship wasn't as perfect as she thought it was.

Freya's best friends, Leo and Ruby, were so delightful. While they definitely sound like people I would want to be friends with, I would not let them convince me to run naked anywhere! I enjoyed that Freya's potential new love interest didn't entirely rule the story and take away from Freya's strong friendships.

This was just a super fun and totally adorable read!

Freya is jilted at the alter (well the day before) but that doesn't stop wedding season from happening and that means she has 7 weddings to attend, over the next few months, where she will have to see her ex fiance. I can definitely see this happening in real life because weddings seem to be catching and all happen at the same time.

Unfortunately I definitely relate to Freya and her situation. I love that her friends were so supportive and gave her these tasks she had to accomplish during the weddings to take her mind off everything. I liked seeing how Freya grows over the season, and realizes that she's better off.

I did like the narrator she really brought the story to life and gave the side characters interesting voices.
