I really enjoyed Hidden Picture by Jason Rekulak, even as an audiobook where I couldn't see the pictures visually in front of me....the descriptions were enough that I could envision them. (Candidly, I enjoyed the book so much that I did check out the physical book from my library after listening to the story just so I could see the pics) I appreciated that I didn't see all of the twists coming and the book was just creepy enough without going too far.

*received for free from netgalley for honest review* i actually think i accidentally read this book twice, well i know i did i just didn't mark it as reading so never reviewed it lol but nonetheless reading it a second time wasn't bad, i did read it faster the second time around but it had been long enough there was still some surprises. Would definitely recommend reading it though, especially before Halloween!

HOLY FLIPPIN FLAPJACKS! This book was absolutely amazing and such a thrilling ride. The twist at the end is one I never saw coming as well as this book was unlike any I've ever read before. I AM SPEECHLESS! WOW! 10 BILLION STARS OUT OF 5! RUN DON'T WALK TO GET THIS BOOK! The clues formatted into drawings was really clever too!

In Hidden Pictures, a young woman with a troubled past gets a job as a nanny for a five year old boy. The boy is an easy going, delightful child, but he starts drawing terrifying pictures and talks about his friend that no one else can see. I enjoyed this mystery/ supernatural story by Jason Rekulak.

I really loved this book! I listened to the audiobook but once I realized there were pictures included in the book, I went out and got the book. I could not put this book down, I needed to know what happened.

I really liked the premise but the execution of it wasn't what I enjoyed. It really felt too political to me and that just took me out of the story. I really wanted to enjoy it but it just wasn't for me.

Thank you Netgalley for letting me give my honest review

am an avid reader and it’s been so long since I have read something with a great deal creativity. From the beginning, Hidden Pictures was a story that kept you wanting to turn the page. The author does well by luring you and reeling you in as you grip the book, believing that you have it figured out, only to find that what you thought was happening, wasn’t!

I really enjoyed the pace of this story. The story of a nanny whose charge draws pictures of a murder I found appealing. This book a had twist I didn’t see coming it blew my mind.

Hidden Pictures is reminiscent of the John Saul books I loved in the late 70s and 80s. As his usually did, this story includes a child and some unexplained happenings that may or may not have a rational explanation. Mallory is a 20-year-old just recently out of rehab and a halfway house for drug abuse. Her sponsor finds her a job as a nanny to an adorable 5-year-old named Teddy. Mallory is well aware that she is under intense scrutiny by Teddy’s parents, who are knowledgeable of her past history. So, when strange things begin to happen, she is at first very wary of telling them what she suspects. For those of you who shy away from mysteries with paranormal vibes be aware that there is nothing supernatural about what happens when Mallory inadvertently discovers some real truths.

4.5 Stars. This story follows Mallory a recovering drug addict who gets a job as a nanny with a well to do couple. While Mallory is carting for Teddi strange things start happening and Mallory is gathering the pieces to find out if it’s supernatural or is she going crazy.

This one is a bit spooky and we are never quite sure what is up with Teddi's drawings. Are they supernatural or is there another reason for them? This is a great little mystery with well developed characters. I really enjoyed the twist at the end.

The narrator of this audiobook was very good and kept me engaged. I was given a copy of the audiobook for review by the publisher. My opinions are my own.

4.5 I really enjoyed this book but it felt a little out of place in the horror genre. This story follows Mallory a recovering drug addict who gets a job as a nanny with a well to do couple. While Mallory is carting for Teddi strange things start happening and Mallory is gathering the pieces to find out if it’s supernatural or is she going crazy.

I really liked this book it’s more of a slow burn but I really enjoyed the characters and trying to figure out was going on. I really felt the writing was approachable and engaging I flew through this book. I also felt the characters were well rounded and I felt this is the best way an unreliable narrator has ever been handled. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narrator she was easy to understand. I would like to thank Netgalley and the publishers for a chance to read this book for an honest review.

Jason Rekulak's HIDDEN PICTURES is one EXCEPTIONAL novel! I couldn't stop, had no desire or intention of pausing, till I carried on through to the end. At times my emotions were akin to watching a barreling freight train approaching a line of stalled cars on the crossing! I begged and pleaded with the story itself to twist suddenly and go off the rails; but of course, because Mr. Rekulak is such a fascinating storyteller, the story kept to the track, I kept my eyes wide open, 100% invested in these characters and their train-wreck lives, and together we carried on through, despite the derailments, despite Supernatural intervention, despite denouements and revelations I would never have believed had I not witnessed it myself, despite a lengthy terror-ridden journey through the valley of abnormal psychology and a figurative trip down the River Styx. Hereby is one of my Best of 2022 (and beyond). All hail HIDDEN PICTURES!

Hidden Pictures was a gripping novel that I couldn't stop listening to. Mallory, the protagonist, was convincing in her naivete and struggles. I was so into Hidden Pictures there were moments when I was just yelling at Mallory not to do one thing or to do something else because I could see the traps that were being laid for her. So much fun.

A great spooky tale with a unique twist. The reader will keep waiting to figure out the connection between Teddy and the supernatural, and won't be disappointed. Superb narration.

I really enjoyed this book. It had some really good twists and turns. I liked the characters a lot. She developed the characters well and made you feel different emotions for each of them. There were some things that weren't perfect, but I enjoyed the writing otherwise.

I loved this narrator and will definitely seek out her work in the future. She was great at emoting and also at different voices for the characters.

I absolutely loved this book! It has such a different feel to it with all the pictures (which gave me creeps… In the best way possible!) I could not put this down, I needed to know exactly what happened and I stayed up way too late finishing it.

I did not enjoy this book. It was pretty dumb and boring, even with the surprise ending. The action wasn’t very interesting, and there could’ve been more real twists and turns leading up to the ending.

I don't give many 5 stars but this book certainly deserves it! I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a fantastic job. Once I started listening I couldn't turn it off. The story is so original that I didn't expect anything that happened.

THIS is the book that everyone seems to be talking/posting/reviewing these days and I wouldn’t wait to sink my teeth into what I hoped would be my new favorite read.

HIDDEN PICTURES follows a woman named Mallory Quinn, a recovering addict, who takes a job as a live-in nanny for five year old Teddy. He connects with Mallory and seems like a sweet and innocent child, but prefers to be alone drawing pictures instead of playing with the other kids his age.

It isn’t long before his drawings become more sinister, leading Mallory to suspect that something isn’t right, and that he might know more about these violent images he keeps drawing.

I know it’s a good read when I find myself constantly wanting to keep reading and not put it down! Mallory was such a likeable character, and I loved the buildup to the mystery of what exactly is going on.

While I love physical books, I listened to an ALC audiobook copy of the book, and loved it. It was narrated by Suzy Jackson, and I thought it was wonderful and the choice for narrator was spot on.
