This family trip to New York is just what the family needs. Michael and Natalie have had some strains in their marriage and this family trip with their children should go some way to patching things up. The kids are hungry when they get to the hotel so Michael goes to pick up some food. When he returns, the room is empty and Natalie's phone is going to voice mail. He searches the hotel and when he doesn't find them, he starts to panic. Where could they be?
Michael calls the police. But when they come, they are able to see on camera footage that Natalie and the kids have left on their own and the taxi driver they hailed took them to Penn Station to catch a train. Michael has to face the facts that Natalie has planned this and has left him.
But would she really leave over a suspected affair or is there more? Natalie has insomnia and hasn't been sleeping for months. That condition can have delusions and hallucinations. But it's no illusion that the woman Natalie suspects Michael is having an affair with is dead, murdered by knife wounds. Natalie fears that Michael is a killer, never more than when she investigates his past and discovers secrets there she never knew about. Who is this man she has built a life with?
This is my first title by D.J. Palmer who specializes in suspense novels. I listened to this title and the narrator had just the right voice to build the tension as more and more of the truth is revealed. Both Natalie and Michael have hidden the truth so long that it is an earthquake to their marriage when the truth starts to emerge. This book is recommended for mystery readers.
A brilliant read that had me engrossed right from the very start. This is a complete page turner that i couldn’t put down.
I loved this book! Thank you for the ARC. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that I wasn’t leaving reviews on netgalley and was solely sharing on Instagram. My apologies. Huge fan of this author! I actually received the tangible copy. Trying to clean up my netgally account.
This one was middle of the road for me. Might try it again later, but for now, I can't get into it. Really appreciate the review copy approval.
My Wife Is Missing is a propulsive page turner that kept me on the edge of my seat, needing to know what happened! I love D.J. Palmer's writing style and this one really started off with a bang. The audiobook narration was well done and really helped bring this story to life.
I did struggle a bit with all the secrets and characters to keep up with at times, but all in all this was a solid twisty reading ride and I look forward to reading what comes out next!
Thank you to the publisher for my gifted review copies.
A domestic thriller isn’t my typical go to but I was instantly hooked with this one. I flew through it and found myself liking, then hating, then liking certain characters again.
Natalie’s insomnia became really repetitive and I felt the book was slightly too long.
Overall, not a bad first impression of this author.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.
I always look forward to each book that D.J Palmer writes, and was highly anticipating the latest release,
MY WIFE IS MISSING.
It was a twisty and entertaining read, perfect for mixing up my other genres that I had been reading recently, and really loved the different POVs and thought the author did a great job with pacing.
I listened to the audiobook format, which I also enjoyed, and was able to follow the story and plot well. The narrator was Karissa Vacker, another great choice for narrator!
*many thanks to St Martins Press and Macmillan Audio for the gifted copy for review
D.J Palmer has managed to write yet another fantastically addictive domestic thriller jam packed with crazy twists and turns that is guaranteed to take you on a heart-pounding crazy ride!
Natalie and Michael have reached a rough patch in their marriage and the physical and emotional turmoil has begun to take its toll on each of them. Michael has been keeping secrets and Natalie fears he is having an affair. The stress of it all has affected Natalie to the point where she is suffering from extreme insomnia and has become paranoid and almost delusional. In an attempt to reconnect, the pair take their young children on a short vacation to NYC and when Michael returns to the hotel from a pizza run, he finds his family is gone. At first he thinks they have been abducted, but the hotel security tapes show a very different story of his wife calmly leave the hotel on her own accord with her children. Michael fears that Natalie has completely become unhinged sending him in a tailspin to find them, but what he doesn’t know is that his wife was the masterminded behind this escape, and as the plot to this twisted tale unfolds, a deliciously sinister game of cat and mouse ensues.
There is such a pervasive sense of uncertainty between the alternating POVs of our two unreliable protagonists, Natalie and Michael. Secrets, lies, jealousy, desperation, fear and murder cast a cold cynicism and cleverly plants seeds of doubt that had me questioning my loyalty to each character as speculation, unreliability and motivation came in to play. Nothing is as it seems and I was forced into a quandary of whom to believe right up to the twisted ending.
Karissa Vacker evokes so much tension and emotion with her narration of this perfectly plotted, cleverly paced plausible storyl, I simply couldn’t put this compelling read down.
If you haven’t read a D.J. Palmer novel, do yourself a favor and change that. He writes a mean psychological/domestic thriller. You absolutely won’t be disappointed!
Thank you D.J. Palmer, Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the chance to listen to and review an advance copy audiobook of My Wife is Missing in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

This is my first read by this author and definitely won’t be my last! I really enjoyed the audiobook of this one and found it to be such a thrilling story.
In this book, we follow Natalie and Michael Hart, who once had a perfect marriage but now have a bumpy relationship. Natalie has insomnia and Michael holds back his secrets. As they began to lose their once-upon-a-time perfect marriage, Natalie thinks a family vacation is a perfect solution for them to reconnect. All goes well until Michael goes out to get food and upon returning to the hotel finds out his wife and two children are missing.
I had so many thoughts throughout the book that had me rethinking everything. First, I did find the whole plot line a bit interesting as there were some things I never could picture happening. I did overlook some situations, but I did enjoy the story as a whole.
There were quite some twists and turns throughout the book, some I didn’t see coming. I love when a book makes you rethink everything and has you wondering who you can trust. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next!
I really enjoyed the audiobook of this book and can’t wait to read more from this author. I think they’re the perfect quick mysteries for when you’re in the mood for one! I did find the epilogue a bit unnecessary, but it didn’t factor in my overall rating. I really enjoyed this thriller and would definitely recommend the audiobook, I loved the narrator and the way she portrayed the characters.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy, all thoughts are my own!
This story really lacked action. I found it to be filled with minutia, with not much moving the plot along. At times I felt it was very repetitive and it couldn't keep my attention.
Full of twists and turns and I enjoyed that it kept me guessing all the way until the end. I couldn't figure out who was the bad guy and who could really be trusted.
4.25 stars
Okay, this book was truly all over the place, but in the best kind of way…I didn’t know what to believe or what to expect, and there was always a new twist and turn to keep me guessing. I definitely didn’t see the end coming; my guesses were pretty much all wrong. I have mixed feelings about some parts of the conclusion, but all in all, it was a tense, twisty, interesting story.
This twisty thriller had me guessing throughout the book. Is Michael good or bad? His wife delusional or right to leave?? I've enjoyed a few of this author's books and while this one wasn't my favorite it's a solid psychological game of cat and mouse.
I really enjoyed this! Natalie leaves a troubled marriage with her children in tow… We don’t know if the happenings are because of Natalie’s insomnia or if Michael is gaslighting her! I was kept guessing until the end. Very enjoyable!
The perfect daughter is one of my all time favorite books so I had high hopes for this read. This book wasn’t all for me though it was much to long and it really didn’t take hold until the final 25%. I struggled for the better part of multiple car trips to and from work listening to it only to be really disappointed with the ending. 11 hours and that’s the ending I got, ugh! This was my least favorite by this author perhaps if I had read it I’d feel a little better about it but that isn’t for sure. It wasn’t my book but it could be yours!
Another perfect thriller from DJ Palmer. So intriguing I will be recommending to my followers who love thrillers.

Mystery
Micheal’s family is missing. Thinking they were abducted, he calls the police. The wife has a whole different story to tell the police.
This was a great book that will have you guessing until the very last page. It kept me on the edge of my seat. When I thought I had it figured out, it would take another turn. This was definitely a five star read for me. I recommend it to anyone.
Palmer's domestic thriller was a perfect summer read - not an amazing thriller, but one that will keep you turning pages and that you can pick back up after a couple busy days and dive right back into. The main character, Natalie, is trying to escape from her husband, Michael, after learning some secrets about who he really is. Natalie suffers from insomnia, however, making her a possibly unreliable narrator. The book is told from both of their perspectives, which I do always enjoy a multiple perspective thriller. The book was overall slow moving with massive twists and turns in the last 15-20% of the book. I found the twists to be a bit over the top, but they definitely were shocking!
I had zero ideas who to believe throughout this whole book. I felt dizzy trying to do figure it all out and where it was going.
I loved this book and all the characters.
The narrator was awesome! Each voice was so unique to the character.
This is the second book I've read by D.J Palmer. This time I listened to a book. I loved this even more than the first (didn't know that was possible). The narrator was super engaging.
It was hard not to listen to this book in one sitting. I loved the dual perspectives of Michael and Natalie and thought hearing the two perspectives was helpful in understanding the characters. I honestly thought I had the ending figured out, but wow, I was totally wrong!
Awesome thriller!
