My Wife Is Missing is an entertaining mystery, a page turner full of twists and detours. The story centers on a woman who shocks her husband - who thinks at first that she's been abducted -- by leaving him, with their two kids in tow on a cross-country escape and his efforts to determine why she has left and to find her. Her efforts to hide her tracks and his efforts to piece together clues to her whereabouts are skillfully woven into a slow reveal of their respective motivations. There are more than a few surprises along the way- certainly enough to hold a reader's interest. I think it makes a perfect beach read.
I listened to the audio version. The narrator did a great job and it was especially fun to hear the plot.

Natalie is on the run! She has given her husband the slip. She and her two children are running away as fast as they can. But, why? Has Natalie finally lost it? With her chronic insomnia, it is a possibility. But what about Michael? What has Natalie learned, or thought she learned, about his past?

Wow! Talk about a wild ride! This book had me all over the place…is she crazy? Did he do it? Did she do it? I swear! I had no clue. And usually I figure something out. Nope…completely blindsided by the ending!

This is a story which was twisting and turning all over the place. I listened to this over a 2 day period…usually it takes me a good bit longer on an audiobook. But, I was completely captivated and could not get to the end fast enough. Definitely an edge of your seat read!

The narrator, Karissa Vacker, is now one of the top narrators in my book! She did an amazing job, especially on the kids voices. That is something most narrators get wrong.

Need a book which will have you guessing till the end…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today!

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.

What a wildly entertaining, twisty ride!!!

Michael returns to the hotel to find his wife, Natalie, and their two children missing. He fears his family has been kidnapped when he locates his son’s teddy bear lying in the hallway. Hotel footage shows they left of their own volition. Michael will do anything to find them - even confront the secrets of his own past.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one!!!
Read this if you love thrillers that have:
✨Dual POV, large cast of side characters
✨Unreliable narrators
✨Multiple twists and turns
✨Buried Secrets
✨Awesome epilogue (yes, you read that right! I loved this epilogue!!!!)

Natalie is a married mom of two who happens upon her husband’s suspected mistress. First alive and well, then dead. She goes on the run with the kids to escape from the man she thought she knew as his secrets start to unravel around her.

The storyline switches between Natalie and her husband, Michael’s, POVs before and after she goes “missing”.

This was entertaining enough for 3/5 stars and I enjoyed the narrator. It was kind of slow and foreseeable until the big, odd twist at the end I definitely wasn’t expecting but also was not very satisfying. My biggest issue with this novel is why someone would just run around the country when they realize their husband isn’t who they thought they were and might be a 2x murderer. Like what is the end game there?! It had more potential.

Thank you to NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, and the author for an advance listener’s copy in exchange for an honest review!

This book had me walking extra miles to hear the next chapter! Who is telling the truth, Natalie or Michael? I kept changing my mind...just when you think you know, you discover that you don't. This books was well thought out, and I think the narrator did a great job. I will be sure to keep an eye out for more books by DJ Palmer.

My Wife is Missing is the third book I’ve read by DJ Palmer and I swear, he gets me every time!

I was fortunate enough to be able to read and listen to this and the audiobook really ramped up the tension for me because I became thoroughly invested in Natalie’s plight and really sus of the motives of some characters that I should have been trusting.

As usual, Mr. Palmer jumps right into the action and it just doesn’t let up. Michael’s wife is missing but is she really? As the story moves on it becomes clear that Michael’s wife Natalie has her reasons for wanting to disappear but are they valid? If you ask Michael, she’s suffering from delusional Insomnia but then again, Michael isn’t known for his honesty these days.

What follows is a twisty journey of cat and mouse that I really enjoyed. Yes, some is a bit unbelievable and takes a bit of a leap but this is exactly why I read fiction! I want to be entertained and entertained I was! I loved the twists at the end and I felt fully vindicated by one that I actually figured out! Go me!

Narration: Karissa Vacker narrates and she is becoming a favorite of mine. She has a melodic voice and I’m amazed at how smoothly she transitions to other characters. Bonus? He child voices don’t grate and that is saying something! Well done!

My thanks to @MacMillan.Audio and @StMartinsPress for the gifted ALC and DRC for review.

Not my favorite book ever but definitely a book that keeps you thinking and guessing! All of the characters seem so very unreliable to so you don't know who to trust!!!

Missing - Secrets - Murder - Insomnia - Betrayal - Love

What a rollercoaster! I don’t even know how to summarize this book! The storyline is completely all over the place. It’s definitely entertaining but at the same time it’s like what the hell is going on. There are a lot of characters with lots of secrets. This book will make you question everything and everyone. Including the ending 😂

Honestly I don’t know how to feel about this one. While I don’t hate it, I don’t love it. But I found it very entertaining. Does that even make any sense?

🎧 The narrator killed it! She did a fantastic job with the voices. There were so many characters and she kept each one unique! Wow just wow 🎧

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and Macmillan Audio for gifting me with an ALC in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 ⭐
I've read many, many domestic thrillers with husband and wife shenanigans, so I figured it'd be the same ole song and dance, but that was not the case at all. I got sucked in from the beginning and I was engaged until the crazy ending.

Michael, Natalie and their 2 kids go on vacation together and while Michael is out getting pizza, Natalie and the kids disappear.

Natalie has been suffering from insomnia and seems unstable at times. She has been suspicious of Michael's activities for a while when she befriends, Audrey. Is Audrey somehow linked to Michael or is she hallucinating again?

As Michael begins his search for his family he starts to worry that an old secret might be revealed.

Told in Natalie and Michael's perspective ~ we go back and forth between the present and to before Natalie disappeared ~ this way really keeps you on the edge of your seat with little tidbits dropping along the way.

I am always thrilled when there are some twistaroos and secrets I don't see coming and there are plenty.

This was a pretty long one coming in at 11 hours and 8 minutes, but it was an easy listen at 2x.
Karissa Vacker did such an excellent job narrating that I am not even mad there wasn't a male narrator for the male parts. She really showed perfect emotion when needed.

Overall, this was an action packed thrilling ride that kept me engaged throughout. I have read this author's work before and I would certainly do so again.

If you’ve been with me for a while, you know that I can be picky about thrillers; I think it is because I’m such a character-driven reader. So I’m happy to report that I enjoyed 𝐌𝐲 𝐖𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠.

Michael and Natalie take their family on vacation to New York. When Michael returns to the hotel after picking up pizza, his family is gone, and only his son’s teddy bear remains.

This begins the suspenseful toggle between Michael and Natalie’s POVs. While Michael seems frantic to find his family, Natalie is on the run from him. As the story progresses, we hear the lies and secrets that Michael has been hiding, but he’s willing to let some of his secrets be told if he can find Natalie, but why?

It almost seems too obvious, right? But Natalie suffers from insomnia so severe that she is often unsure if she has nodded off or if she is hallucinating. What if she doesn’t have the story right?

I wasn’t sure who to trust, and while sometimes that can frustrate me, it all clicked, making for an edgy, tense feel. I was surprised by the ending, I admit I had some gut feelings, but I didn’t see this coming!

I listened to the audiobook, thank you @macmillan.audio and the narration was excellent. And thank you @stmartinspress for a gifted copy & bear.

"Natalie took one more look in the mirror, noticing how the dye from her hair had bled onto her scalp. To her eyes, it looked like a prelude to her murder."

Whew! It has been awhile since a thriller has stressed me out with its intense chapter cliffhangers and divisive relationships but My Wife Is Missing by creative calculating thriller author D.J. Palmer is a primary example on how to do it right.

The premise is on vacation to NYC Michael comes back to the hotel room from getting pizza to find his wife, Natalie, their two young kids, and their luggage gone. All that remains is Teddy, his son's beloved raggedy teddy bear.

The police say it looks like she left on her own but Michael does not understand why until he is back home and finds the note to Natalie about his affair. Still why run? Why not fight? Kick him out? Go to counseling? Oh no! Unless she find out about his past, his secrets, and who he really is to the world.

Natalie is unhinged. For months she has suffered from insomnia. She is forgetting things, has tremors, and a bit paranoid. Something is going on with Michael. She just knows he's cheating but when she follows him she realizes the cheating isn't the worse of it. She needs to take the kids and disappear.

One of my favorite narrators Karissa Vacker
made this story more real for me. Natalie's fear and panic was understandable rather than whiny and Michael's worry for his kids and wife completely sincere.

I know you think you know where this story is going and you would be wrong. Michael isn't who he says but he is not who you think he is either. It won't take long to get to the end, to the whole truth. You just may need to remember to keep breathing between the chapters.

I received a free copy of this book and audiobook from the publishers via #netgalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

The beginning of this book pulled me into it so fast, and It kept me wanting to read it. I really did not see the ending coming. This book takes you on one wild crazy ride that I enjoyed so much. The characters were developed slowly throughout this book which really worked for this storyline/plot.

After about 25% of this book, I stopped listening. The story line did not draw me into the story, and I did not feel invested in the characters.

Michael Hart’s world is turned upside down when his wife, Natalie, and his two children go missing from their hotel they are vacationing at in New York City. Natalie suffers from insomnia and they have been struggling in their relationship lately. When it is revealed that Natalie took the kids on her own volition, Michael sets out to find his wife and uncover why she took off.

The beginning of this story had me hooked. The set-up was gripping as you start out rooting for Michael, but that quickly turns once you learn more about the circumstance of Natalie’s escape. There were lots of twists and turns that kept you guessing about who to trust. Natalie’s insomnia made her extremely unreliable, which made the reader unsure at parts if she was living in reality or not. I did find Michael and Natalie to be unlikeable, which led to me not really being that invested in the plotline. I also found the methods of the detective, Kennett, to be questionable. It was a page turner at the start, but I think some of the length could have been trimmed! The ending was very cinematic. Thanks to @stmartinspress, @netgalley and @macmillan.audio for my review copies.

D.J. Palmer just keeps getting better and better! Natalie can’t sleep, her insomnia is becoming debilitating. Lack of sleep is causing her to black out, have dreams in the middle of the day and hallucinate. When she suspects her husband, Michael of having an affair, she has no idea the secrets that will come to light as she digs deeper into her marriage and her husband. When she goes missing on a family vacation in New York, Michael is frantic, but is he frantic fir the right reasons? Is Natalie in danger or has paranoia pushed her over the edge? Told in the alternating voices of Natalie and Michael, the reader knows that there’s more to the story, but is Natalie an unreliable narrator is Michael? Only time will tell in this fast paced story that had a coupe of blind corners and some hair pin curves! Karissa Vacker brings this story to life and makes it difficult to find a stopping point.

This book pulls the reader in immediately with a powerful start. When Michael Hart discovers that his wife and children have disappeared from their New York City hotel room while he was out picking up dinner, chaos breaks loose. The book is told from several viewpoints - - Natalie (current day), Natalie (before she disappeared) and Michael (current day). As the reader, you are much like a detective - - trying to sort through the evidence and details that are being provided to come to a conclusion. The tough thing is trying to determine if you can rely on the evidence or not.

Even though this book felt like it drug a bit in the middle to me, the author still does a wonderful job with it. You aren't sure exactly what to believe is truth and what could be hallucination or misinterpretation because of Natalie's insomnia. In the end, some of the twists I thought I had pegged weren't quite right which thrilled me. I love to be surprised.

Overall, I recommend this book. I would just encourage anyone sitting down to read it to invest in a wee bit of patience and let he author unwrap the story gradually. Even though it made me crazy at times when I was reading it, the slow development of things really did lend to the flow of the novel. At least in my opinion, it did.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: The narration was really well done and made the story even better for me. I always appreciate the dramatic flair that can be pulled in with audio as opposed to written word alone. It worked well with this book. 4 1/2 stars

I received a complimentary audiobook ALC for MY WIFE IS MISSING by D.J. Palmer – thank you to Macmillan Audio and Netgalley!

MY WIFE IS MISSING begins with a family vacation to New York. When Michael goes out to get pizza, he returns to an empty hotel room with no word from his wife. He immediately fears that something has happened to them, but cameras show that his wife and their two kids left on their own. Michael may know why she left, but they aren’t things he’s likely to volunteer to the police.

I have enjoyed all of the books that I have read from D.J. Palmer and this one was no exception! The story had me immediately intrigued to find out what was happening! We are following Michael originally, but we begin to get chapters from his wife Natalie’s perspective too. Michael clearly has secrets he’s trying to keep under wraps and it is soon apparent that Natalie has uncovered some things that give her more than enough reason to be on the run. The reader is slowly let in on some of the dirt and it makes for a very intriguing and engaging read.

This is a good book to go into without a lot knowledge about the plot. It definitely kept me trying to figure out where the twists were going to come into play! The audio really worked well for this book too!

Natalie Hart disappears with her two kids after her husband, Michael heads out to grab pizza for dinner while on vacation in New York City. Michael believes that they have been kidnapped until he learns the truth that they left on their own. He teams up with a cop to try to find his family. Natalie suffers from recent insomnia, causing her to hallucinate. Michael is hiding something, but is it what Natalie believes it to be? Every character has secrets, and each are unreliable. While reading I had no idea on who to trust, who was lying, who was telling the truth. The story is told from alternating points of view between Natalie and Michael. There were plenty of twists and turns which made the story more interesting. I thought I knew what the ending was going to be, however it surprised me and was unexpected. This was a fun ride that kept me entertained. I look forward to Palmer’s next book!

My Wife Is Missing is a fast-paced roller coaster ride that definitely kept me on the edge of my seat turning the pages. It’s the kind of popcorn thriller that catches you and you are captivated until you figure out what is going on - of course I had multiple incorrect theories throughout !
I loved how the first scene already reflects everything to come. The male protagonist comes back to the hotel having gotten pizza for the family and discovers his family gone without a trace save for his son’s stuffed teddy. He’s instantly rationalizing and coming up with possible scenarios - just like we humans tend to do. It contained a glimpse of the perception vs. reality issues, the intensity, and the dread of uncovering things that I was not sure I wanted to discover while at the same time not being able to resist finding out more- as I said I was hooked !

This thriller is perfectly plotted and cleverly paced with surprises at every turn - that you have to be willing to go along with the story is a given with this type of thriller !

The characters are complex, flawed with baggage and well fleshed out. Are they reliable narrators? I will leave that to you to discover.
If you love psychological thrillers that keep you on your toes and satisfy your need to be surprised, entertained and distracted from real life, My Wife Is Missing will delight you from start to finish.
