This was a good mystery that I felt like read like a whodunit story. I figure it out but enjoyed the story. There were a few twists you won’t see coming.

This was a rollercoaster of excitement. Natalie and Michael are both unreliable characters; painting pictures of Michael potentially being abusive and a liar and Natalie suffering from insomnia causing disturbing hallucinations and her mental health constantly being questioned.⁣

I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out and waiting to see who was telling the truth, who was lying, what was real, and what was a hallucination- all the way to the very end.⁣

I felt Natalie’s anxiety and fear pushing her to flee from her husband and the love of a mother to do everything to protect her children. ⁣

Michael was painted as a villain and I was really hoping he wasn’t going to find Natalie and the kids. There were so many twists and turns. I always enjoy Palmer’s way of keeping you guessing til the end.⁣

Thank you @stmartinspress for an ARC (ebook and audio) for my honest review.⁣

I really enjoyed the narration and the ability to go between reading and listening. The narrator really brought the story to life!

Natalie and Michael have two children and their marriage is not working. Natalie decides to trick Michael into a family vacation. While he slips out for dinner, she takes their young children Addie and Bryce and goes on the run. Natalie deals with insomnia, and Michael makes people believe she is not doing well, when he discovers what she has done.
Besides realizing that Michael may have had an affair, she thinks he has committed murder. He has all the classic signs, going to the gym and their relationship has been teetering. So many twists, and secrets. Michael is not whom he appears to be and his past comes back to haunt him.
Can they work through their problems or are they beyond repair? What happens to the kids when they want to see their dad and Natalie keeps putting them off? This book will have your mind in a whirlwind.

Love this book, love this author!! So many twists and turns, mysteries within mysteries. I listened to the audio version and the narrator is one of my favorites. Highly recommend!

Well, this book was fan-freaking-tastic! I loved the high-level action and energy right from the beginning! It’s got some twists, some secrets and some great storytelling!

Told through the alternating perspectives of a husband and a wife, we start the story with the husband’s discovery that his wife and two children are missing from their hotel room. We follow him as he works with the hotel and police to discover that it looks like his wife left voluntarily. He partners with one officer to help find her. From his wife’s perspective, we jump between present-day and the past to unravel a web of stories that create an un-put-downable read!

I found Natalie to be an amazing main character. I loved her perspective, and her experiences. As she goes through her story, I found myself rooting for her more and more! I would highly recommend this one for readers that enjoy domestic thrillers with some high-speed action!

I was provided a gifted copy of this book for free. I am leaving my review voluntarily.

📖🎧BOOK REVIEW📖🎧
🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is my first book by the author and I was immediately pulled in by the emotional first chapter. I was over halfway through the book before I figured out who the killer was. It wasn’t overly predictable, but I read a lot of thrillers. I continued and couldn’t believe I was wrong! Where did that come from?

I was sure I had not only figured out the killer but the whole backstory behind the killing (and I think it was rather good, lol). I was shocked to find out I was wrong. The killer was not someone I’d even considered. Kudos to the author!

I switched between the ebook and audiobook. I’d recommend the audiobook. The narration was great.

Thank you to MacMillan Audio / St. Martin’s Press for a complimentary copy of this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.

This is my third book by DJ Palmer and each of them has kept me riveted. My Wife Is Missing is probably my favorite of his, so far. I thought the back and forth between husband and wife's POVs worked well in moving the story along. The only criticism I had is the wife's constant paranoia. To me, that happened so early and so often that it started to drag my enjoyment level down a bit after the fifth or sixth or seventh or eighth time she stated how dangerous her husband is. Going so far as to plan out getting sole custody of the children without ever having had a conversation about her suspicions. Other than that, it was a fun, tension-filled thriller that kept me enthralled its entire length. I love it when I think I have solved the big mystery early on and yet am still surprised by the reveal or the path being way different than I anticipated.

Its funny that I honestly didn't like one of the marital partners and I MOSTLY did like the other. I have no idea if that was intentional by the author. Regardless of who I liked or didn't, the whole story wrapped up in a satisfactory way for me. DJ Palmer is batting 100 with this reader. Can't wait for his next!

My Wife is Missing is the latest by one of my favorite author D.J.Palmer. I enjoyed reading and listening to the audio version of this book. Told in two timelines- before Natalie went missing and after she went missing. Palmer likes to keep his readers guessing and we aren't sure what to believe about Michael's past or if Natalie is being paranoid due to her insomnia. I liked that the story kept me guessing and once the story took off - it barely let up at all. The narrator did an excellent job on the audiobook - Thank you Macmillan audio and NetGalley for the advanced audiobook -I found the audio version very enjoyable and was able to breeze right through it.

Natalie has terrible insomnia as she starts to question her spouse, Michael and thinks about all the problems in her marriage. Things get so bad that she needs to plan an escape to protect their two children. Not only has Michael had an affair but he killed one of her co-workers! She has to get away and get somewhere safe so she can finally call the police safely. As Michael tries to find his wife, as reluctant as he is, he accepts the help of a policeman to track down his wife and his children. This was an intriguing audiobook with an ending that surprised and delighted me because of course, I knew exactly what happended. This is my favorite so far by D.J. Palmer. May 2022 Pub Date

I LOVED THIS! I was legit on the edge of my seat for this entire book and found the writing so easy to follow along with. Looking back, I saw some clues but would never have guessed the ending. If you like mystery and suspenseful reads with family drama, betrayal and secrets, DEFINITELY pick this one up!

Solid, suspenseful audio as well!!

Talk about a dysfunctional marriage! Michael and Natalie aren’t on the same page in the slightest. Natalie is suffering from insomnia, and Michael is using it as an excuse to cheat on her with one of her coworkers.

The POV alternates between Michael and Natalie. Clearly one of these narrators is unreliable, but the reader can’t tell if it’s Natalie’s insomnia driving her crazy or Michael gaslighting her. I was hooked right away by the premise, and couldn’t wait to figure out who the liar was.

The beginning and end were well-paced, but the middle dragged a little bit. I think maybe one less misdirection from Natalie would’ve been the sweet spot. The author also talked about Natalie’s insomnia constantly, and I think some show-don’t-tell could have been implemented here.

I was very satisfied by the big reveal. The ending made the journey worth it! I will say that a few threads were tied up a little too simply (a few things were unrealistic), but I liked where the author took the story in the end.

I have read three out of DJ Palmer’s four books and enjoyed them all. I would say My Wife Is Missing ranks second after The New Husband, and I will certainly be looking out for others by him in the future!

Audio Review: I was glad I had an audio copy to listen to, as it always helps me get through a slow middle. I’ve listened to a handful of Karissa Vacker’s narrations, including A Good Marriage and The End of Her. I enjoy her style and definitely think she added to the suspense of the story! The production was high quality and top notch, and I would certainly recommend listening to this book.

Absolutely phenomenal book. So many twists toy can't see coming a total nail bitter of a roast coaster read. The Plot was so well crafted with pulse pounding action you can't help but be emersed in this book and trying to figure out what is going on

Natalie, Michael, and their two kids take a little family trip to NYC. They take a family photo outside their hotel which appears to show a happy family. However, Michael goes out to get a pizza for dinner, and when he returns, his wife and children are gone.

Natalie suffers from severe insomnia and is certain Michael is having an affair, and quite possibly that he wants to kill her. Michael thinks she's losing it and feels no love in the marriage and doesn't know what to do. Then she goes on the run with the kids, he frantic to find them and the pursuit begins.

We then embark on a whirlwind ride, told through dual points of view of both Michael and Natalie.
I am not sure I particularly liked either of them, and they were both unreliable narrators. So many secrets, lies and shocking information is uncovered along the way.

I did feel that the fact that Natalie had insomnia was somewhat overstated. We got it - she has insomnia. But this book was suspenseful and their dualing points of view made me question every single thing. The ending was unpredictable and I love that!

Many thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for allowing me an audio advance copy in exchange for an honest review!

Decent twists in the end but took forever to get there.

This book starts off with a bang. Michael returns to the New York City hotel after getting a pizza for his family after a long day of travel. Things have been difficult lately because his wife Natalie has intense insomnia and rarely sleeps, leading to many other issues. They have decided to take their two young children, Addie and Bryce, on a vacation to get away. When he arrives at the hotel, Natalie and the kids, along with all of their belongings are gone. Michael is sure they have been abducted, but the more that he and the authorities look into the situation, it appears that Natalie has taken the kids and run. Why would she do this? There are hidden secrets from all angles, who is telling the truth?

We flash back and forth between the past and present, and learn about the different things each of them are hiding. My main problems with this book have to do with its length and the unlikable characters. We never know until nearly the end if Michael is actually guilty of everything Natalie thinks or if she is just sleep deprived and paranoid--or if it's somewhere in between. That actually would have been ok had there been something in between to bolster the story rather than endless speculation and paranoia, but the storyline just circles and circles for a long time before actually going anywhere.

The chasing and chasing gets SO old, Natalie on the run is just tedious and got very boring to listen to/read after a while. At a certain point I just honestly didn't care whether or not Michael had cheated, because Natalie was so whiny and annoying (and I hate hate hate cheating in books so this is a big deal for me to not care!) Michael wasn't a saint of a character either, but he didn't bother me as much as Natalie.

Overall, when the twists are revealed, I did figure out one of them ahead of time, but they were still decent. This isn't my favorite book by this author, but it wasn't terrible either. I listened to this partially as an audiobook and Karissa Vacker did a good job with her narration. It wasn't nearly as whispery as some of the more recent books I've listened to her narrate.

If you're looking for a thriller and can handle unlikable characters and a bunch of repetition, this one does have some redeeming qualities in the end.

Lately I’ve been over the basic “my husband has a secret life I didn’t know about” and “my wife is mentally ill and crazy” tropes. This book actually has BOTH but I didn’t mind it!

I switched between audio and physical for this read because I was hooked and just wanted to figure out if the husband would find his wife and figure out why she was running.

The book is definitely slow paced and dragged out. Majority of it is just she went to a new location and then he figured it out and was one step behind her. The action really happened in the last 30 pages of a fairly long thriller- 382 pages.

The reveals didn’t really do anything for me. I was hoping for something way more juicy. But, overall I enjoyed this one and would give it 3.5 rounded up to 4!

Thank you Net Galley for an audio ARC of My Wife Is Missing by D.J. Palmer. This is a mystery that has many twists and turns. This one was a lot of fun. The narrator was awesome.

This book hooked me from the very beginning! I knew that nothing was going to be as it seemed but I had NO idea what was coming! When Michael can't find his wife and kids on their vacation, his world starts spinning out of control. Did she run away? Was she taken? Or worse?

I loved how easy this book was to read/listen to as a I did some of each. The pacing was great and I never found myself bored or wanting it to be over (rare for me with thrillers). The last 25% or so of the book was just twist after twist after twist!

I enjoyed most of the twists but some of them were a little over the top for me. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this one as a quick and fun read to satisfy your thriller fix!

Thank you so much to Macmillan Audio for the chance to listen to this audiobook prior to release. The narration was perfect! This will be available for purchase on 5/10.

Natalie is suffering from severe insomnia brought on by her belief that her husband Michael is having an affair. Insomnia is known to cause paranoia and hallucinations, so Natalie is a perfect unreliable narrator. Michael keeps acting like he loves Natalie and his kids more than life itself but then revelations about his past make him also a very unreliable narrator. This novel is a roller coaster ride like none I have ever encountered. It started off slowly and predictably but then it is like some mad engineer took over and designed a ride that reached breakneck speeds and that was never meant to stay on the tracks. Every new revelation turns everything upside down. And then comes the ending and then comes the epilogue. My head is still spinning, but what a great ride!

Holy Cats!!!
It has been a hot minute since a book threw me for a loop the way this one did!

Michael's Wife Natalie has severe insomnia so much so that she is having hallucinations and it is affecting every aspect of her life. Are the things she she is seeing and doing real or are they hallucinations in her head due to his insomnia?

Natalie has a co-worker who has informed her she is having an affair with a person from the company's gym, and all indicators point to her husband even though she will not give Natalie the person's name. She is POSITIVE it is Michael she is sleeping with.

So Natalie plans a weekend getaway for the family to New York just a few hours drive from home to get away from it all for the weekend. Or that is what she told Michael anyways. She sends him out for pizza and while he is gone she takes then kids and runs from her cheating husband, and there is that other thing he did too...

I am not going to give anymore details but this a a must add to your reading list this spring.

I received an Arc Audiobook copy from Net Galley and St Martin's Press for my honest review.
