This book was sent to me by Netgalley for review as an audio book. The narrator is pleasant to listen to...however I do not like the various voices. Just use one voice please. the main character is intriguing...the characters, if not lovable, are at least likable...the mystery is what happened to his wife and children? The thoughts running through my head as I listened to this book was that I was watching "Criminal Minds" on Hulu...would they discover the family somewhere safe? Would the outcome be what the husband/father wished for? Had he done something to them? So many questions to be answered and many red herrings. Enjoy this mystery...some topics too personal…some topics I just don’t like reading about…
When Michael’s wife and children disappear from a hotel during a family vacation Michael is frantic to find his family. But is everything as it seems? The police don’t think so. Is it something from his past caught up to them or something currently happening?
DJ Palmer does it again this one kept me on the edge of my seat and guessing all the way through. Both of these people are unreliable narrators so I didn’t know who to believe! Just an excellent thriller I don’t want to give anything away so you get the full effect and this thriller.
This story is told by the 2 different viewpoints of Mark and Natalie however you didn’t need 2 narrators for this because Karissa Vacker skillfully handles both Mark and Natalie’s Point of View with perfection! Karissa has truly become a favorite narrator!
I highly recommend this audiobook! This author is quickly becoming an auto-buy!

I received this book from the publisher Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for a fair and honest review
A family vacation turns into a nightmare for Michael Hart when he discovers his wife and two children have disappeared from their New York City hotel room. Horrified, he fears they've been kidnapped. Are her fears about Michael valid or a symptom of her condition? But who can she trust when she can't even trust herself?
This is a well written, fast paced story. The novel alternates between Michael and Natalie's POVs. Secrets and a tangled web are revealed. I have read DJ Palmer's other book and have enjoyed it too. I can't wait to see what DJ Palmer comes out with next. If you love thrillers, then you will love this book. I would like to thank NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for a copy for an honest review. This audiobook was very good. I enjoyed the narrator as she gave me the voice of the book.
Once upon a time, I used to be a huge fan of author Daniel Palmer, now writing as D.J. Palmer.
"Desperate" was and still is my favorite Daniel Palmer book.

After reading "Desperate" in 2014, I was desperate to read all future Daniel Palmer books and, therefore, when I selected "My Wife is Missing", my expectations were sky-high.
Not only was I a huge fan of the author, I almost always enjoy "wife goes missing" psychological thrillers.
Unfortunately, "My Wife is Missing" was a total "miss" for me.
To the author's credit, the book had a strong opening chapter. A husband and wife travel to NYC with their two children and the wife disappears with their children when the husband leaves the hotel room to get pizza for his family.
After that, this preposterous book completely fell apart.
The book was disjointed and all over the place with multiple plot holes. In addition, the book's ending was absolutely, positively off-the-wall. (To avoid spoilers, I am not providing examples).
Also, the book was waaay too long. I listened to the 11-hour audiobook that easily could have been a 6-hour book, and I am being kind.
The audiobook was read by Karissa Vacker, one of my favorite narrators. Listening to Karissa Vacker's narration was probably why I was able to stay awake and finish the book.
Even though Karissa Vacker did an outstanding job with the narration, the book would have benefited from multiple narrators since it was told from multiple POVs.
Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
2 stars rounded up.
I loved this book! Domestic thrillers are my favorite sub-genre, and this one did not disappoint. I enjoyed the twists throughout and it had me guessing up until the very end. I also liked how the author gave the different perspectives with the husband and wife and different time periods. I highly recommend this book to all my fellow thriller lovers!
Hot damn! This book kept me up all night. I couldn’t put it down! I also couldn’t figure out which way was up. I couldn’t decide what to believe, who to believe, what was true or not. I didn’t see the end with Tina coming and admit I found it rather disappointing, but everything up until then was terrific. DJ Palmer is one of if not my most favorite author in the domestic psych thriller genre.
What a twisty thrill ride! The action starts on the very first page, and never lets up. Michael and Natalie and their two children arrive in New York City for a holiday. But suddenly Natalie and the kids are gone. We learn up front that Michael and Natalie‘s marriage is not exactly solid, and that Natalie suffers from severe insomnia that is sometimes so bad it causes hallucinations. Also, Michael is clearly harboring secrets from his past.
The potentially unreliable narrators made for a lot of guessing along the way, though I was able to figure out most of the ending before it was revealed. I felt like this book was a little longer than it needed to be. But overall it was a fun ride.
Thanks to NetGalley for advanced audio copy of this novel.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with the audiobook of this title to review.
I really enjoyed this novel. Palmer always keeps me guessing until the very end and I really enjoy trying to solve the mystery, but usually end up wrong.
Natalie and Michael were two strong characters throughout the novel that turned into a rollercoaster ride. The many ups and downs kept me guessing and wondering throughout. It was definitely a thrilling novel, fast-paced and a page-turner.
I did not want to stop listening, because every time I tried to stop- something else would happen.
2.5 stars
This was a sort of mediocre story. The premise was interesting but the story seemed to be drawn out. The premise is a wife with insomnia leaves her husband after finding out he had an affair.(at least she thinks so). Natalie, the wife, is definitely not a character I felt much for as I do believe taking your children from their father without telling him you were leaving is both cruel and unfeeling. I could not wrap my arms around the fact that Natalie pretends to go on vacation in NYC with Michael and the children and then runs away. It made little sense to me. A lot gets blame on Natalie's inability to sleep. It's the baseline for their failing marriage. She withholds sex and any kind of touching from her husband. She always is reading something into what her husband Michael said.
Michael has some adverse traits as well. For one, he carries around a big secret and as he pals up with a police lieutenant (somewhat unwillingly which was strange really as they wind out of state where the lieutenant had no jurisdiction?) to try and find Nicole and his family, little bits and pieces come out about Michael.
Then there was Audrey, the supposed paramour of Michael's who is found murdered by Natalie and Nat was sure that her murder was caused by Michael.
Natalie finds solace at her friend's farm and makes some disturbing finds while at the farm. There are many ominous happenings which you are not sure if Natalie is actually hearing or is she hallucinating as she has done in the past. Her mind is exhausted and much is because of the lack of sleep. Definitely Natalie was losing it.
Was her state of mind, the culmination of the insomnia or was there something to her thoughts and musings that confirms her mistrust of Michael?
This story moved along slowly and as I mentioned my dislike of the main character probably colored my view.
Definitely recommended to those who enjoy a character who portrays so much need, she becomes annoying. 🤷♀️
There are many others who enjoyed this story so please do check out their reviews
Thank you to D.J. Palmer, St Martin's Press, and NetGalley for a copy of this book.
I read on my kindle 60% of the book and listened to the rest courtesy of Macmillan Audio.
A frantic husband reports his wife and children missing. Police are all too aware of the statistics, when a wife disappears, it’s usually because of something nefarious the husband did. Michael knows why his wife left and took their children, it’s because she’s uncovered the truth about his past. Natalie is sure she’s doing the right thing, getting herself and her children away from the man she married, the man she thought she knew. But her fear and failure to let her guard down is keeping Natalie from getting sleep and the more exhausted she becomes, the more impaired her judgement becomes. Has she reached the point where she’s becoming more of a danger to her children than her husband could ever be?
This is fast-paced, action-filled thriller/mystery. The narrator does an excellent of presenting very believable both male and female voices. This is especially good on audio because the listener will not get bogged down with too many details and the story flies along. The ending is satisfying and has a couple of twists.

After reading and enjoying _The Perfect Daughter_, I was very excited to have the chance to read Palmer's newest mystery/thriller (which I will likely think of as _The Imperfect Marriage_).
Natalie and Michael alternate perspectives, though it feels a bit easier to get on Natalie's team early on, and if I'm honest, this might be because of the cultural norms surrounding their relationship. Since Natalie suspects that Michael is cheating and he's giving a lot of positive reinforcement for those suspicions, it seems like readers should probably root for her. However, readers also learn quickly that Natalie hasn't quite been herself lately. Is Michael - beyond his potential infidelity - actually dangerous? Has Natalie's extreme insomnia started to manifest symptoms akin to serious mental illness? One of the greatest strengths of this novel is this constant misdirection.
If there's one thing I come away thinking after reading this variety of mystery/thriller, it's that marriage sounds impossible. Here, the complications make for some great reading.
I was fortunate to be able to listen to the audiobook, and the narrator is excellent when voicing adults. The voicing of children - which fortunately happens in moderation - did make me crack up at times. It's a lot.
Overall, this is an enjoyable mystery/thriller that keeps readers guessing. I did not love the end for reasons I won't share to avoid spoilers, but it's a worthwhile read/listen nonetheless.
4.5 ⭐️There were some excellent twists in there!! A solid thriller for fans of suspenseful, domestic thriller books! The audio was easy to follow, and I thoroughly enjoyed. My one criticism is that there was a bit of a lull in the middle, where I was waiting for the other shoe to drop…and boy did it!
