This an adorably cute workplace romance full of emotion. The story was slow to start but full of precious moments of longing between Jackson and London. I loved the relationship between London and her sisters and the portrayal of commitment to family. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a workplace slow burn romance.
I really enjoyed When Sparks Fly, so when I saw that the sequel was available to request, I did. And I actually enjoyed this relationship more than the first. I enjoy friends to lovers, but I LOVE workplace romances. Because angst.
There were some really frustrating parts of this book, though, and every time they came up I felt myself rolling my eyes or just becoming disinterested and I had to push through.
This was book was cute! I liked Starry-Eyed Love more than the first book in the series, When Sparks Fly. I enjoy when we get it was fun to get cameos from Helena Hunting's other books. Starry-Eyed Love is a slow burn love story. I enjoyed the characters. I feel like this spent lares time focusing on the sisters. They might fall flat if you haven’t read Sparks Fly.
This was book 2 of the Spark House series and did not disappoint. This was London's story. She works with her sisters at the hotel and event facility that they own. Although she enjoys the time with her family and continuing the family business, she would like to step away from the business end and work on the more creative aspects. At the moment this is not possible. Jackson, the CEO of a related business wants to partner with their company. Sparks fly between the two of them, but they resist their feelings because of their business tie. This was a satisfying slow burn romance with a nice blend of their business story. It can be read as a standalone although book 1 is well worth reading. The audio book was exceptionally well done, and that cover is gorgeous! Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review..
REVIEW! “Starry-Eyed Love” by Helena Hunting
★★★★.5/5
(minor spoilers)
In “Starry-Eyed Love,” newly single London is approached by our love interest, Jackson, at a bar but rejects him because she is not interested in jumping into a new relationship with all the responsibilities she is managing. So what happens when months later she meets Jackson again, but this time he’s introduced as the CEO of the multimillion dollar media company her family’s business needs to expand their branding? The sweetest slow-burn romance ensues!
I love love love this book! It was a cute, quick read and both main characters were very likable! If you read the first book in Helena Hunting’s Spark House series, you know all about the Spark Sisters, but if not, Hunting does a great job of reintroducing her sisters, so it is not necessarily essential to read the first book in the series first! I loved how Hunting portrayed the sisterly love between London and her sisters Avery and Harley, but also didn’t shy away from the conflicts that can arise between family, especially when business is involved. All of the relationships in this book feel very realistic to me. The pacing of the story was really well-done, and although it is kind of a slowburn, there are not lulls in the middle where I felt bored or wanted to rush to the ending! I found all of London and Jackson’s pre-relationship moments very enjoyable to read, and they laid a great foundation of respect and understanding between the characters! I absolutely loved that Jackson was respectful of their business relationship and didn’t try to pursue London while they were directly working together. He knew of the power imbalance between them and also did not want others to think she was dating him for the wrong reasons. He was also constantly hyping London up and supported her small business as well as her family’s company. He may have been a little emotionally inept in some scenes, but he’s rich and he’s respectful so I can look over it. Jackson is honestly the perfect guy, and London is a great character who knows her worth, regardless of her relationship status. I listened to this book as an audiobook and I would definitely recommend! If you have listened to any of Hunting’s other books, it is the same people who do a lot of those and I really enjoy their voices!
“Starry-Eyed Love” releases on May 10, 2022!
Big thanks to NetGalley, St. Martins Press, and Helena Hunting for this ARC in return for my honest review!
Following another Spark sister, it’s time for London’s happily ever after. London turns down a handsome man she met in a bar, only to find out he is the CEO of a company that would like to work with Spark House.
The book: I had read the first book in this series and it was okay. Declan and Avery grew on me, but unfortunately London and Jackson didn’t. Jackson was too perfect (said the perfect things, did the perfect things) and London really annoying. I am not sure if I would have a different review if I had read the book as opposed listening to the audio version. Some of the lines were just cliche and cheesy, almost cringe-y.
The audio: this may sound really strange, but I liked the man’s voice for London and women’s voice for Jackson better than their assigned characters. I might have enjoyed the book more in that case. Jackson sounded like a 50-year-old man and London was whiny.
Thank you Netgalley and McMillan Audio for this ARC. Although this story was not for me, I will still read Harley’s story next. I think I will also just stick with reading the books unless I can hear a sample because I probably would not have chosen it with the voices. I have liked Helena Huntings other novels and will continue to read her work.

Hi there! I was lucky enough to receive both an E-arc and an audio ARC of this book! For a review on the plot of the book please find my other review right here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58724991
This review will be solely be about the quality of the audiobook and how it enhances or inhibits the story and how it stands on its own (which is why it has a different rating than the other review):
I don’t know who chooses these audiobook narrators BUT THEY ALWAYS CHOOSE SO RIGHT???? Like every time. Every Helena Hunting Audiobook never misses with the voice talent they choose. If I’m listening to an audiobook it is usually in tandem with the physical/ebook so when I say there were slow parts in the middle of this story, if I was just reading it, I would have honestly put it down for a bit but this audiobook carried me through!
Loved this 10/10
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
This is the second book in a series following the Spark sisters and while you don’t have to read the first book to enjoy this one you should because it was cute! I really liked what I saw of London in the last book so I was excited to learn more about her here and I now I like her even more than before. She was very relatable and her flaws were realistic. Her relationship with Jackson was a super slow burn which I’m not always into but it worked for me here. Sometimes seeing characters take their time before jumping into a relationship is refreshing and seems more mature and real to life and I felt that here. Of course HH knows how to write amazing banter and this was no exception. The audio was dual narrated by Jason Clark and Stella Bloom and they both did an amazing job at bringing London and Jackson to life so I can definitely recommend that format. Overall a charming and sweet read with some heat.
First of all, I have to say how much I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook narration. Both narrators were fantastic and perfect for London and Jackson. Ps - the guy who narrates for Jackson sounds totally swoon worthy ;)
I really enjoyed revisiting this setting and the three Spark sisters. London is a great protagonist and I was rooting for her every step of the way throughout this story. I enjoyed the way that she and Jackson had a mismatched beginning, followed be a secret identity reveal and a forbidden romance with lots of forced proximity mixed in. I really enjoyed the tension between these two characters and the attraction that was blossoming between them despite their best efforts not to acknowledge it. I got swept in the story and invested in this romance as well as Spark sisters’ family run business. It was great to see how Avery and Harley were doing in this story. I’m eager to see what is next in store for Harley’s story next! On a side note - I absolutely love this charming cover design, especially the origami stars!
Many thanks to St. Martin's Griffin and Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book, all thoughts are my own.
Thank you netgalley for the arc of Starry-eyed Love! I really enjoyed being back in this world for book two. Avery, who was the focus on book one was kinda awful in this one. But otherwise I loved this book.
Have you ever met someone, and you just feel that SPARK? Well, when Jackson sees London from across the bar he just knows. There is something about her that grabs him and won't let go. Too bad when he comes over to ask her out, she turns him down flat. She isn't ready to get into a relationship. Not with one ending and her businesses flourishing.
Fast forward three months, a company is interested in partnering with Spark House on a Green Initiative and while London is there presenting to them, the CEO comes in and it is no other than the man she shot down in the bar all those months ago. The spark is still there but now that they are in a business relationship, they can't take it any further. With Spark House and her Etsy business flourishing, London has time for little else anyway.
As soon as it ends, all bets are off though, and they are free to explore just how well they fit together. They need to see if they can turn the spark into full flames. I did enjoy Jackson and London, but since I didn't read the first book, I really was put off by Avery. I wonder if I would have still been having read her book, but I feel like she had no sympathy towards London and her situation and was very selfish. They needed help, that was clear, it was talked about multiple times and I felt like it was a bit overdone with fighting bringing in more people to help these sisters who were overwhelmed and struggling.
Jackson and London had to really work hard to find a balance navigating not only a long distance relationship but a relationship where he was in the limelight most of the time. It was a struggle and if the couple wants to work at things, I know love will always win in the end.
Thank you to Macmillian Audio, St. Martin's, Netgalley and Helena Hunting for an early audio copy.
Really fun, really cute contemporary romance! Both main characters are super well rounded and I loved them both! I want my own Jackson pleaseeee. Might go back and read the first but am definitely excited for the third!
This was FINE. It wasn't bad by any means, but there was also nothing that really wowed me! Plainly... I was a bit underwhelmed. I continue to enjoy the Spark sisters (except I will admit that Avery drove me nuts in this book) and while I really liked the slow-burn build up to London and Jackson's romance, I was so annoyed at the conflict towards the end.
Overall, this was a low-angst and sweet, slow-burn romance.
Rating: 3 stars.
I love this series! Although they are great romance books I love the sister part of it too. I really related to the sisters fighting in this one. They love each other no matter what but communication is key. I wasn't in love with Jackson. He could be a little stiff and formal at times and I didn't really buy their chemistry. But I really loved London. I felt like she was really fighting to find her place in life.

The heroine: London Spark - she works with her two sisters at their family hotel and event facility. She got stuck in the role where she handles all the business and financial side of things, but is not very comfortable with it so she spends a lot of time preparing for meetings and talks with clients that wouldn’t be needed by someone more familiar with that sort of work. She also has an Etsy store on the side where she gets to be creative.
The Hero: Jackson Holt - The billionaire founder of Holt Media. Prior to that he became wealthy as an app developer. He is famous for developing a few social media apps, including a dating app. His company is very green focused puts together small green businesses and wants to work with Spark House on some events.
The Story: London is just getting over of a relationship when she first meets Jackson at a bar, where he pays their tab and approaches her. She rebuffs him by telling him she is in a relationship and thinks she will never see him again. Fast forward three months and she meets Jackson while she is doing a presentation and he immediately puts her on the spot. She thinks he is disgruntled at her for turning him down three months ago.
As usual, Helena Hunting does an awesome job at creating a world and characters that are engaging and entertaining. The book is told in dual points of view and the audiobook is narrated by Jason Clarke and Stella Bloom whom also did the narrations for When Sparks Fly. Jason Clarke is one of my favorite male narrators with a deep and gravelly voice that is perfect for any Hero and Stella bloom has a fast talking voice that works well for London who is a bit anxious and plagued by some self-doubt.
I like that London and Jackson can’t seem to stay away from each other despite both of them insisting on having a professional relationship. London is endearing in that she is so unsure of herself but really has no reason to be. Jackson is a take charge kind of guy who really sees her inside and out. The book has plenty of romance, steam, jealousy, great characters and more.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
This was cute! I liked Starry-Eyed Love much more than When Sparks Fly (Sparks House #1) and it was fun to get a few cameos from Helena Hunting's earlier characters (I'm looking at you, Lincoln Moorehead). Starry-Eyed Love, which can absolutely be read as a standalone, is the slowest of slow burns, and while Jackson and London are both adorable, I felt like the first half of the book was too heavily focused on their business relationship for my tastes. Both characters are so polite and professional that it was hard to feel that SPARK. Also, I read romance novels to escape from my job, and the last thing I want from a book is to feel like I’m tagging along to meetings. Eventually, things heated up and I did enjoy the second half of the book a lot. This is a cute romance and the narration was great, but coming from someone who has read (and loved) almost everything Helena Hunting has written, I will say that it wasn't as charming, humorous, or steamy as some of her previous work.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book; all opinions are my own. Thank you to NetGalley and Helena Hunting for allowing me to be an early reader
There is something enchanting about the way this author writes this series and specifically this book. There’s a fairytale element that makes Jackson and London feel magical and enchanting with a story that brings to life a Taylor Swift love song. It was so easy to get swept up in these pages and get lost in the author's words.
I enjoyed how delicious the author made tension between Jackson and London. She made the mundane work days filled with spark and fire because of the forbidden nature of their situation. London and Jackson embodied a true romance where emotions are intense, passionate gestures are seen through small actions, and there’s an adoration and connection to London and Jackson.
The narrators really brought this story to life. I adored Jason and he was Jackson in this story. There was a sexiness only he can bring to the story. Stella was the perfect Landon. She was playful, entertaining, and the perfect counterpart to Jason. I really enjoyed reading the book, but because of these two, the audiobook was so much more.
Just like every love story, there were moments I wanted to scream because they were the end game, but they let trivial actions inhibit themselves. I think if the author included more chapters from Jackson, this would have given the story more insight than just feeling like this was mainly told from London's POV. Regardless of this, I still thoroughly enjoyed this story, felt my heart ache, and I did not want to leave this world. Thank you to NetGalley and
Macmillan Audio for this audiobook
Super-hot business mogul with a soft spot for the environment?
Business-minded, family-oriented entrepreneur with two adoring sisters?
One written-in-the-stars chance meeting leads to an adventurous tale of tension-filled proximity and semi-forbidden romance between Jackson and London. This rom-com had almost everything I love in contemporary romance, and lacked everything I despise... which is a good thing! The plot was phenomenal and developed beautifully. The character arcs were forward-thinking and quite satisfying. I also enjoyed how the spicy scenes were not fade-to-black, but they were not overtly explicit. Even the inevitable fallout scene was not as detrimental as other rom-coms, even though it still seemed to break my heart and bring me almost to tears. I laughed out loud in shock multiple times, and the humorous quips were some of the best I've heard in a long time. I loved it!
I really, really enjoyed this dual perspective, second chance at love-ish workplace romance that gave me lots of Cinderella vibes. The second book in the Spark House series focuses on London, a crafty woman who has just broken up with her boyfriend and isn't looking for another relationship.
Enter Jackson, a super swooney guy who asks her out in a bar one night only to get turned down. Fast forward a few months and the two meet again through work, fighting their sizzling chemistry in order to stay professional. I loved that these two characters could bond over their shared grief of losing parents at a young age. They also had a lot of shared career interests.
Highly recommended if you enjoy strong sister relationships, open door romances and subtle fairy tale retellings. Perfect for fans of Ashely Winstead's Fool me twice (very similar eco-conscious vibes) or Talia Hibbert's Brown sister's series. Much thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press/Macmillan audio for my advance review copies! This was great on audio narrated by Jason Clarke and Stella Bloom!
*Swoon Alert* As a woman with brothers, I have always envied those with sisters. I always imagined having a built in best friend and I love reading about sister relationships. While the 1st book in Sparks House is the story of Avery Spark, book #2, Starry- Eyed Love, features London Spark. (Starry Eyed Love can be read as a stand-alone but best enjoyed after reading When Sparks Fly). I'll be honest and say London was not my favorite character in book 1, but she comes out of nowhere and redeems herself. The Spark sisters, London, Avery and Harley, inherited and now run hotel/event space, The Spark House. Enter Jackson Holt, CEO of Holt Media. Sparks fly (get it, elbow nudge) between London and Jackson, however they maintain a mostly professional working relationship throughout the first third or so of the book. They have great banter and better chemistry. Jackson is what book boyfriends are made of. Hes perfectly imperfect and incredibly attuned to London's needs. Go ahead and put this one on your TBR, releasing May 10.
Helena Hunting is a one click author for me and her latest pen further solidifies this. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the arc in exchange for my honest review. Can't wait for Harley's story! (Also noteworthy, I listed to the audiobook as well as read the physical copy and well,,,,,,Jason Clarke. Need I say more?!?!)
