This book is interesting in the fact that it shows how Bezos has changed all of lives with his internet store and how he scaled it from a bookstore to a store of everything! The blueprint is good to know not only from a business sense but a life sense... take the jump even if it is scary.
I thought this contained some good information but felt I really had to endure to find the "gems." I also felt this book had a lot of Bezos' speeches pieced to together to create length. One good takeaway from this book is: " You can have all the technical skills mastered, but if you do not have proper communication, you have nothing."
I felt that was a little harsh. Communication has to be learned and practiced and if you are not in a proper work environment, it is hard to develop this skill and feel worthy.
I will still buy from Amazon. Would I take advice from this book? No. If I am someone that wants or needs to improve my communication skills, I would read a book that fosters that or ask for professional help.
Recommended for others, but not for me.
Thanks to Netgalley, Carmine Gallo and St Martin's Press for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Already available.
Do I think that Jeff Bezos is an excellent business man who has shaped the way we shop? Yes. Do I think he knows how to communicate to get people to listen to him and follow him? Yes. Do I think he's a good person? Hell no. Do I support him by using Amazon? Also no.
It is obvious throughout the book that Bezos has become a great communicator, with a laser sharp focus and ideas to continue achieving his dreams. I think a lot of the ideas in this book are excellent and can help others who struggle with communication. In fact, I would have loved to show my recent history professor the part about PowerPoint being useless and how presentations make it seem like the audience is listening and that the presenter is giving an actual talk, but they degrade quality of communication. Last semester I took a public speaking class that I was dreading. I hate public speaking, like many people do. I got through it pretty well, but I know there's things I could have improved. Some of what was in this book could have helped through that class. I can't go back to it now, but I can use the information for my current job and any others I may have in the future. This can be a very useful book for someone looking to improve communication in business dealings or school settings and everything in between.
I admire Bezos for being such an effective communicator. I just wish he actually cared as much about his employees and other mattes as he does about his profit.
Well written, easy to follow. Bezos is definitely an interesting character and I was intrigued to learn more about him. I learned lots of insightful little tidbits and Gallo is definitely a fantastic writer.
Well done with this one, I can see many people wanting to learn from "the best" with this one.
I was very pleasantly surprised with this read! I wasn't sure what to expect going in, but appreciated the insight it lent into successful businessmen like Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffet, and more--particularly around their communication styles. As an editor myself, I'm always on the lookout for ways to improve my own (and, yes, others') writing, and this is a great resource to do just that.
3.5 stars, rounded up to 4.
I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
The Bezos Blueprint opens the door to the secrets of communication in big business through the lens of Amazon and other large companies. Much of the material is recycled from the KISS principle but I liked how it was presented for today’s business.
ARC was provided by NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press in exchange for an honest review.
It delivers exactly what it says it does.
I especially appreciated how it weaved the background in for readers who didn't know certain concepts, very thoughtful!
Wow, this was such an interesting book. I really learned so much and I feel like I will be reaching back to references many points in this one in the future. I am so glad I got a chance to read it since it isn't my typical read.

Review:
I came into this book thinking it would be this big to do about how amazing Bezos is. I was fully expecting it to talk about his accomplishments and what have you. It wasn't though. It talks about great business strategies and gives great examples. I really felt like I learned a lot I actually bought a copy to highlight and take notes the next time I read it. I got my mother a copy too. It makes me feel like I could plan things and achieve great things.
Solid collection of writing and communication advice for the business world presented through the lens of Amazon, with appearances from other big business world hitters.
Mining Bezos Communication Skills
One of the most important skills for a would be entrepreneur is being able to communicate effectively. The author chose Bezos as an example of a successful entrepreneur. Combing through the twenty-four letters from Bezos to the Amazon shareholders, the author extracted writing skills that can help anyone improve their communication.
The chapters range from telling a story to how to place the critical information at the beginning and end of sentences to leave your readers with the critical points. I found the author’s emphasis on creativity and storytelling one of the most interesting facets of the book. Most writers on business communications focus strictly on what to get across. Thinking about storytelling is a way to involve the reader in what you’re saying. Stories are often the most effective way to make the reader remember your points.
This is a very readable book. If you’re interested in improving your communication skills, it’s a good choice. I highly recommend it.
I received this book from St. Martin’s Press for this review.
The Bezos Blueprint: Communication Secrets of the World's Greatest Salesman by Carmine Gallo is well-researched. The author has analyzed and scrutinized twenty-four letters written by Jeff Bezos to Amazon shareholders. Anyone who likes literary research will enjoy this book. The author mines letters, speeches, and online content. He then crafts the resulting blueprint- the subject of this book.
Carmine Gallo entertains and educates his readers. He presents a new writing concept in each chapter. He then uses a writing sample from Bezo, quotes a writing book, and delivers exceptional results.
This book is helpful for business people. It’s also helpful for authors, writers, and bloggers. There are many great tips on writing, word choices, metaphors, and sentence structure.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Netgalley and also purchased a copy for my library.
The Bezos Blueprint Communication Secrets of the World's Greatest Salesman by Carmine Gallo is an incisive look at the communication strategies used by Jeff Bezos. This is a useful read for entrepreneurs and those working in professional communications alike.
Are you looking to turn your business up a notch or two? Or are you looking to better your communication skills? Either way, this is a book that you should read. There are many tips and tricks that Bezos has used to make his idea one of the world's largest and most influential businesses.
The main concept laid out in this book are the KISS principle. The Bezos name is there as a catchy book title and also Bezos' speeches and shareholder letters are analyzed in extensive detail in this book. Other than that, similar analysis is done of the messages of other big shots and entrepreneurs as well. It is definitely a worthwhile skill to inculcate, but I'm highly doubtful that the KISS principle is the sole reason why someone is a big shot.
This is an excellent book on Communication, and a surprisingly interesting and entertaining read.
Gallo gives clear blueprints on how to improve your communication skills, a key ingredient in anyone's success. Filled with tips and anecdotes from a wide variety of successful people, I learned a lot while reading it.
My thanks to St. Martin's Press for allowing me to read an ARC via NetGalley. The book is scheduled for publication 11/15/22. All opinions in this review are my own and are freely given.
Author Gallo makes the Bezos Blueprint look as easy as Jeff Bezos creating Amazon.com. Really? For those readers who don't know, Jeff Bezos is one of the world's richest individuals, and one of the most visionary and effective people of our time. This man is simply brilliant in his organizational skills, management skills, and in his understanding of how people think and respond. His visionary thinking is both as broad as it is focused. Christine Ballo breaks it all down for us in a way that you and I can understand, and that leaders world wide have imitated to create their own entrepreneurial businesses. Before I was even finished reading this excellent manuscript, I was beginning to implement the Bezos Blueprint and Christine Gallo's advice into my own projects!
Amazing!
(That's probably the way Jeff Bezos would start his note)
Good Leadership goes hand to hand with good Communication. It is easy to read Jeff Bezos's notes to the shareholders and get your own perspective. It's another thing to be assisted on getting a leadership perspective by someone who knows a thing or two about leadership, Carmine Gallo.
In this book, you will get to read not only Mr. Bezos's notes to the shareholders, but also similar comments from other well known personal growth experts or leaders themselves.
I highly recommend this book to anybody who wants to enhance their leadership by using the keep-it-simple method in their communication style. Many, if not most, of the takeaways are applied to the writing of this book. This means that a student in 8th or 9th grade can read it and understand it. This is an excellent principle to good communication.
Enjoy the read,
Jose
Interesting story with a great insight on business and story telling. Will definitely recommend to those that want business insight
What a great resource for learning storytelling and how to apply it in the business world! Carmine weaves useful storytelling facts into the story of how Jeff Bezos grew Amazon from a garage startup to one of the biggest companies in the world. Through out the book, how to tell a good story is explained followed up with the why this has been the gold standard for aeons.
At the end of each chapter is a small challenge to be able to use the knowledge explained in the chapter. I finished this book with a better understanding of how to improve my writing skills and the resources to refer back to again and again.
