What a delightful book! While going into the book, it largely reminded me of The Charm Offensive, it never felt like an imitation - even though we are given an LGBT romance and a dating/reality show.

This book really gives you everything you want: enemies to friends to lovers; a revenge plot; and fake dating. I loved seeing the two FMCs' relationship develop - from complete hate to love; it was slow - without feeling like a slow burn - and felt rooted, rather than random.

I so look forward to Sophie Gonzales' future books!

Never Ever Getting Back Together by Sophie Gonzales follows Maya and Skye. It’s been two years since Maya dumped her cheating boyfriend Jordy. Unfortunately, his sister married royalty, so he is impossible to escape—even when he’s in another country. When Maya gets a call inviting her to participate in a reality show called “Second Chance Romance”, she immediately says no. She doesn’t want to see Jordy again. Doesn’t want to compete with his other exes to win his heart once again. Until she realizes she can’t use this opportunity for revenge. She will play along, win his heart, and crush it on TV. There is just one problem when Maya arrives on set. One person she completely forgot to consider. Skye—the girl Jordy cheated on her with is there. To make matters worse, they are bunking together. What starts out as a volatile rivalry becomes a reluctant alliance to take Jordy down for good. If only Maya and Skye can resist the chemistry between them.

I liked Maya and Skye individually and together. I always love a revenge story, and this one takes a really fun turn.

Sophie Gonzales had me laughing so hard with this book. This is a book I would feel comfortable telling friends and older students to read. The sprinkle of Taylor Swift lyrics just added to the giggles I had. I devoured this book in a day.

Thank you St. Martin’s Press for allowing me to access an advanced copy of this title!

This book was good, mostly because of the way it was written in a light manner allowing the humor to take place in it and within the character’s relationships. The premise is already a bit absurd - out of the ordinary - and I think diving into the more humor side of things really helped the narrative. My main issue with it, and what really took me away from enjoying the story, was the big gesture at the end. I saw the twist in the middle coming a mile away, but I just wish the character’s would have dealt with things more privately, and the big stage was left to the male lead to stumble through alone. Arrogant, toxic, self-centered people just have this natural way to self destroy when you leave them to their own devices. Things come to light, eventually. Overall, this was a great fun read for the in between stages of life I’ve been going through, and I found it enjoyable. Recommend if you are looking for a “The Bachelor” mixed with some moral questions ending in found family, and humor along the way.

Sophie really hits a home-run with this one. A love triangle, bisexual female MCs, a gay side character, and a page turner that keeps you coming back for more all in one novel! 5 ⭐️ !

I love all of these books that take place on reality shows! Also, loved the fake European country. This book is so fun and queer.

The book focuses on two girls who are asked by their famous ex-boyfriend to be a part of a teenage reality show. One wants revenge while the other wants a second chance with the ex. Skye wants a second chance with Jordy, and Maya plans to expose him for the manipulative liar he truly is. The twist they don't see coming is the fact that they fall for each other instead.
Overall this was a fun light read and very entertaining. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publishers for an ARC copy. I give this honest review voluntarily.

I loved this book. It gave me the feelies. The I can't wait to read more, the I'm loving it as I read, the oh no it's almost over. I just thoroughly enjoyed it. It started out with letting you see the two main characters on their own. Then the dating show which of course, is reminiscent of the Bachelor franchise except that this is a YA novel and the contestants are a bit younger than on that show and these are all ex-girlfriends of a sort of pseudo-celebrity Jordy Miller whose sister married the prince of another country. Jordy, of course, is a conniving, manipulative liar who doesn't really care about anyone but himself. Many of the girls actually wanted a second chance with him even though he broke up with most of them. That part was actually sad and pathetic. Maya and Skye are put in the same bedroom in the mansion and at first don't get along. Eventually Maya tells her story and slowly more girls compare their story of the time spent with Jordy until many are convinced he is no good and to buy into his version of events would only bring them heartache. The more time Maya and Skye spend together the closer they become until theirs is the love story to root for. I definitely recommend and give it 4 ½ stars. I look forward to reading more titles by this author.

A quick, easy and fun book full of fantastic characters. The characters of Maya and Skye are perfectly written, extremely likable and I love how they come together to get their ultimate revenge. They would definitely make a reality show entertaining. Jordy, on the other hand, had the perfect "love to hate" personality for a reality show.
This is marketed as a YA but it reads more like a college age to adult rom-com. It is an enjoyable read with a satisfying ending.
I am grateful to St. Martin's Press Wednesday Books and Netgalley for providing me with a digital copy in exchange for my honest review.

Let me state for the record that when I read the synopsis of Never Ever Getting Back Together I mistakenly thought this was about post-college aged characters so I was a little thrown when I realized that we were really looking at 18-ish year olds. The premise (a game show where old flames have a chance to reconnect and maybe get together again) works with a younger crowd but to be honest, it felt a little hard to believe...maybe that's because I teach people around the age of the main characters and some of the conniving and contriving seemed a little much...as did the intensity of their feelings? So while those things didn't necessarily work for me, I enjoyed the writing, the humor, the burgeoning romance, and the ridiculous nature of many of the situations they found themselves in and I would definitely pick up another Sophie Gonzales novel, given the chance.

I hate how long it's taken me to write this review. I'll I had to do was collect all the opinions I'd send my friends on how I was loving the book as I read it. I've become a big fan of Sophie Gonzales, and I suspect she could make me read anything. I'm not saying I'll like anything she writes, but that I'm sure she'll always give me a blast of a time, regardless of the genre.

Although I love reading gay romance, I don't feel very inspired to read lesbian fiction. Of course, this wouldn't be a problem when it's an author I trust, like Gonzales. So I had been waiting for this release for some time, as I'm always waiting for anything she releases, really.

This story is told from two points of view, one of the girlfriend who got cheated and dumped, and another of the one who was dumped for. Right now, they're both ex-girlfriends and they've been invited to participate in a reality show about second-chance romance. Each takes this invitation with a different purpose. One out of curiosity, one for revenge on the cheater and whoever else. Although Maya is cautious about Skye, who she has to share the room with, in the middle of all the misunderstandings and disputes, they end up realizing the two have more in common than anyone could have imagined.

I won't say this is a marvelous story. In the end, it's another romance that happens during the filming of a reality show. But I can't say I'll forget it any time soon either. I certainly loved reading this and would like anyone who enjoys a good enemies-to-lovers romance to give it a try.

Honest review based on an ARC provided by Netgalley. Many thanks to the publisher for this opportunity.

Never Ever Getting Back Together was absolutely delightful! I loved If This Gets Out, which Sophie co-wrote with Cale Dietrich, and couldn't wait for this one as soon as I heard about it! Also, a Taylor Swift song for a title? Perfect! I wasn't sure exactly how Sophie would handle Maya and Skye having the same ex (and Skye dating Jordie while he was still with Maya) but she pulled it off well! The beginning is a little hard to read, as second-hand embarrassment can be tough. However, once Maya and Skye come to an understand (basically once Skye learns the truth), it is game over! I loved watching them fall in love while also conspiring revenge. I also enjoyed how Skye helped mellow out Maya. Maya would have gone too far in revenge, but Skye helped her see reason. Their handler for the reality show was the icing on the cake, and I loved how he helped Skye and Maya execute the perfect revenge!

4.5 stars! This was such a fun and cute read. I loved Maya and Skye, they were really great characters to follow throughout the novel. Plus the other girls who are all on the show were really fun and added so much to the story. I loved the drama of this book, I can't help but be enthralled in a book filled with the perfect drama that comes with realty shows.

Thank you to #Netgalley for the arc. This was a fast read and had funny parts to it. It was like a reality show- I enjoyed it. It was more of a 3.5 stars for me, but I rounded up to four since it kept me entertained. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

🎥Book Review:
Title: Never Ever Getting Back Together
Author: Sophie Gonzalez
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/4 stars

Jordy is a complete douchebag of a boyfriend and now he's getting his own reality television show where he brings back six of his ex-girlfriends to see if he can have a second chance at love.

One of those exes is Maya, who was in a relationship with Jordy two years ago, ending when she found out he was cheating on her with Skye, another contestant on the show. Maya strongly believes that Skye was aware of her and Jordy's relationship, thereby making her just as slimy as him.

Skye was in the total dark about Maya as Jordy described her as a psycho ex-girlfriend. She had no idea that Jordy was still with Maya when they met. Maya doesn't want a second chance at love with Jordy, she wants to destroy him on live television. And she plans on bringing Skye down with him.

These two ladies end up as roommates in the mansion they are filming in and eventually open up to one another about what really happened. Uh-oh, Jordy better watch out. If these two can get the other girls on board then they can all take him down! And there might just be a chance that they find their second chance at love in the end 😉. This was a cute, funny, quick read! I enjoyed it!

Thank you, @netgalley and @stmartinspress, for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion!

In NEVER EVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER, Royal-adjacent Jordy asks his ex-girlfriends to compete in a teen reality show and potentially get back together. Told through dual POVs, Maya is intent on getting revenge and exposing Jordy for the cheater he is. Skye is open to reconnecting, but as she is the girl he cheated on Maya with and ends up being her roommate, everyone’s agendas end up changing.

The dry wit was absolutely fantastic. This was my first book by Sophie Gonzales, but if the humour is like this in all of her books, she’s got a fan in me.

Overall it was a fun, sapphic romance with some hilarious scenes and a satisfying ending.

The main reason I am not rating this higher, is I struggled with this second chance romance being about 18-19 year olds? As a YA book, I understand that the characters couldn’t be older, but plot just didn’t work as well with this age bracket in my opinion.

Thank you St. Martin’s Press, Wednesday Books, for the digital copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really loved Perfect on Paper from this author but this one wasn't my fave. I loved the plot and kept thinking that it was a cross between the bachelor and John Tucker Must Die but the romance felt forced to me. Overall I enjoyed it but again not my fave.

Do you watch reality dating shows?
I’m not into watching The Bachelor or any shows like that, but books? A whole other story! They are so fun.

This book centers around a reality show, Second-Chance Romance, where the cast is entirely made up by the lead’s exes. When Maya shows up to get revenge on her cheating ex, Jordy, she ends up rooming with the girl that Jordy cheated on her with.

Never Ever Getting Back Together combines reality tv, revenge and romance. The bisexual representation is perfect if you ask me. Sophie Gonzales is amazing at writing Bi rep, she is becoming one of my favorite YA writers. I wish I had her growing up 💗💜💙

All of the characters were amazing in their own way (except Jordy). I wish this was a series, I’d love books for all the other girls. They were all great in their own way.

My only complaint is that this is a YA book. For the majority of the story I honestly forgot it was YA. The characters were older (18-19) so I would have liked this to be either New Adult or Adult. Maybe we could have gotten a little more if that was the case. But it’s hardly a complaint, I loved the book.

Thank you @wednesdaybooks for the #gifted book and @macmillan.audio for the complementary audiobook.

First and foremost I must say, there was a decided lack of Taylor Swift mentions in this story considering the title and the context, but I digress. I've been a fan of Sophie Gonzales for a while, so I was excited when this book was announced. I loved the concept of falling in kove on a reality TV show, especially when they were meant to be falling for someone else (screw Jordy!). I also loved the sisterhood in the story, though they did not all get along at the beginning, by the end they were all united by a common enemy and had each other's backs! (Nothing like a manipulative man to bring everyone together.)

Never Ever Getting Back Together was a fun read with romance, sabotage, second chances, and happy endings. Definitely an enjoyable read!
