Thank you to NetGalley, Sophie Gonzales and St Martin’s Press for the free e-book in exchange for an honest review.

I don’t generally watch the bachelor or those types of shows, but this book was just like I imagine the show to be. It was easy to see where this was going, but I enjoyed it anyway. It’s fairly quick paced and I imagine you’d really enjoy it if you like the bachelor.

3.5/5⭐️

Sophie Gonzales’ new book is the perfect combination of the Bachelor franchise combined with Do Revenge and a sapphic twist added in there. When Maya and Skye end up on a reality TV show dating their douchebag cheater of an ex, the hatch a plan to take him down for good. The only problem is, falling for each other was never a part of the plan…

I really enjoyed this book. I think the concept was incredibly interesting, a bisexual sapphic take on Alison Cochrun’s The Charm Offensive, and relatively well-written.

I did however have some qualms with the main characters in the first 100 or so pages of the book. Mainly, I found both of them highly dislikable. Now, that can be attributed to the miscommunicated situation Maya and Skye found themselves in for that part of the book but I still found it very hard to read through as I was starting to strongly dislike both of them.

Luckily, once the miscommunications were cleared up and they hatched their joint plan for revenge and chaos, they both became much more likable. They are truly an adorable couple who really bring out the best in each other. MayaxSkye 4 eva. It’s the GabbyxRachel pairing we never got to have (Bachelor nation fans will understand what I’m saying here).

I also really liked the dynamic that grew between the girls on the show by the end. I hated the catty, competitive vibes they had at the beginning and enjoyed the switch to friendship and loving support. Girl support girls in this house.

I only wish we got to see the shit hit the fan for Jordy. I was so looking forward to that smack down at the live finale and was super bummed we never got to witness it. I know he supposedly got what was coming to him in the end but I wish he got what he really deserved: public humiliation. I don’t just want to throw him under the bus, I want to back up over him with it. Honestly, fuck that guy.

All in all, this was an enjoyable book. Was it perfect? No. Were there some things I would’ve changed? Sure. But did I read the whole thing in one sitting anyways? Hell yeah. What can I say? I’m a sucker for a sapphic romance, especially a forbidden, enemies to lovers one. Consider me hooked.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for sending me an ARC of this book in exchange for an open and honest review. All thoughts expressed in this review are my own.

Sophie Gonzales is 100% a must-buy author for me. Every book of hers I’ve absolutely adored and this book was no exception. This may be tied for my favorite SG book!

I did not see this plot twist coming! Main characters Maya and Skye are invited to compete on a reality dating show starring their mutual ex-boyfriend, Jordy, and several other of his exes. Maya and Skye despise each other and consequently end up as roommates during the show. Drama ensues!

I loved the plot twist, strong female characters, the friendship, and the humor. It’s well written with sarcasm and quick wit.

Sincere thanks to NetGalley & Wednesday Books for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

Six young women agree to come on a reality dating show for a second chance with their ex, Jordy. He seems like the perfect catch and is royal adjacent to his sister’s marriage to a prince. But not everyone joining the show is looking for love. Will the show result in a reunion with the one who got away?

Never Ever Getting Back Together is a fun, light escape that will entertain you with scheming reality show shenanigans. I loved how the revenge plot factored into the expected misdeeds and the girl power aspect. All the characters are well-developed and lovable, except for Jordy, the well-established villain you love to hate!

Never Getting Back Together is Sophie Gonzales at her best with this sapphic rom-com centered around reality tv show drama.

I received an early copy of this book. This voluntary review reflects my honest opinion.

First off, who doesn't love a book that pays homage to T. Swift in the title? (If you say no, this probably isn't the book for you.)

Second, Sophie Gonzales is an auto-buy author for me. She doesn't miss.

Third, this one also pulls thematically from reality dating shows, which I stan.

All to say, five stars. No notes.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sharing this book with me. All thoughts are my own.

This was so fun!!! I'm a sucker for the Bachelor trope to begin with, but this one took it in a way that I haven't read before and it was sooo refreshing. Listen, I'm a member of Bachelor Nation and I will fully admit that there have been more than a few times where I've thought, "This guy is definitely a dick in real life. How is he fooling people?!" This book delivered on that idea with such a satisfying end.

I think this is the third Sophie Gonzalez book I've read? She writes books that are so readable. They just go down so easy. I'm a fan.

I put off reviewing this book because I loved it but I wasn’t quite sure why. Never Ever Getting Back Together is not Gonzales’s best written book, but it was so easy to pick up and just straight enjoy. At the end of the day, it holds true to its pitch of disaster bisexuals on The Bachelor.

Maya and Skye are both interesting to read characters. In every way they defy expectations and tropes of what you’ve expect for them. Maya is the spurned ex-girlfriend who IS spiteful and petty but also turns out to be such a girl’s girl. Skye very much is the hot/cool/sexy girl your boyfriend would cheat on you with, but she’s also more sensitive and flawed than Maya or Jordy give her credit for being. Then there is the third main character-Jordy-who you know must have been fun to write because he’s already hurt Maya and Skye before so it is easy to see through their eyes why they originally fell for him and also how he’s actually the worst person ever.

The writing of the show itself was just okay. It borrowed a lot of elements of The Bachelor without capturing the campiness but that’s okay. At the end of the day, I read this book because I wanted to see two contestants fall in love and I did.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 0.25/🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 (single vague, PG-13 sex scene)

I really enjoyed this title and the narrator did a great job. The story was easy to follow and interesting even if it read like a NA while instead it was YA. But it was still nice and the romance was adorable and I liked the ending.

I really enjoyed this new adult contemporary romance that takes a spin on a dating show with a great twist. Oh how fun it was to read this over the holidays. Gonzales writes a fun twist on a plot that is unexpected and incredibly entertaining. I am such a fun of Sophie Gonzales’ writing that I could not get enough of. Fantastic read!

Do yourself a favor. Pause whichever reality tv dating show you’re binging on Netflix and pick up Never Ever Getting Back Together! 🙌🏽 This romance had all the drama, cattiness, and cheesy pickup lines that you’d expect from the Bachelor, but with a sapphic twist! It was fun to watch Skye and Maya’s relationship slowly blossom. And to watch the Jordy Miller takedown 😂 This was a cute, quick read that will satisfy your reality TV cravings!

I have to say, the point of conflict in this book made me very frustrated because of how it was based around nobody believing Maya and her story, and all of the interactions with Jordy made me extremely uncomfortable and annoyed — which I know they were supposed to but it was not fun to read these girls being put in those positions. Other than that, I thought that there was not a lot of romantic lead up between Maya and Skye before they got together, so it seemed a bit sudden. I did really enjoy the friendships that happened in the end between all the girls once they all learned and accepted the truth. This book was not my cup of tea because of the premise it was based off of, but it was a decent read.

A must read for anyone who enjoys the bachelor or loves blind but wanted some more queer representation. Well we got it in this novel. I am not usually one who loves a revenge trope, but this concept was too good to pass up and I really did end up loving all the twists and turns along the way. I do think that it could have used a bit more flushing out of the romantic elements. Because while I enjoyed the sweet nature of the book I do think some aspects weren’t as believed as they could have been.

"Never Ever Getting Back Together" is a feel-good, cheesy romcom based on the reality TV show "The Bachelor." (Which is my favorite tv show). The plot is easy to follow and the drama keeps the reader interested, though some dialogue and character choices may seem over the top. The main characters are likable, and the book is a fun read for fans of the romcom genre, especially those looking for sapphic books.

Perfect on Paper was one of my favourite reads last year, so I was really expecting to enjoy this one just as much—if not more. But this one kinda let me down a little bit; yes I enjoyed it, but ultimately, it wasn’t as good as Perfect on Paper.

My biggest issue was with Maya. She was very childish and immature throughout the whole book. Her motivation to take down her cheating ex was unnecessary especially considering the fact she was cheated on TWO YEARS PRIOR to the start of the story. Like at that point: just get over it and move on. I know that sounds insensitive, but I would’ve understood her motive more if the cheating happened a lot more recently.

As a Canadian reader, I loved Skye as a character and how she was Canadian. I know that doesn’t play a huge role in the book, but it’s rare for me to read about Canadian characters; so it was refreshing to see it represented. And I also loved how all the girls ended up supporting one another in the end.

This did take awhile for me to get into but once I did, I couldn’t stop reading. I enjoyed my time reading this, and I plan on reading more from this author in the future.

Anyone who loves the drama of The Bachelor / The Bachelorette, but wishes it were gayer, this is the book for them. It captures the drama of reality dating shows so well, with the emphasis on how fabricated they truly are. I adored both Maya and Skye, and Jordy was the absolute worst, so it was easy to get interested in the characters and the story.

The premise of this book is extremely clever. I was hooked from the moment Skye landed in Chalonne. I do think that the age of the characters put me off a bit. The plot feels more adult than young adult. Regardless, the writing was hilarious. One of my favorite things to read is wit, and this book more than delivered. I definitely recommend.

This was a really cute read! I absolutely loved the premise of this story, the reality show setting, the love stories, taking down a trash guy, what more could you want?! Maya is hands down one of my favorite female main characters I've read in a while - she has no filter and her internal dialogue had me laughing out loud! Skye was such a levelheaded character, her heart guarded and I loved the deeper thoughts she would have. The dual POV in this book was written so well to really encapsulate both Maya and Skye's personalities and perspectives. All in all, this was a great read! I'll definitely be looking out for more from Sophie Gonzales - thank you NetGalley for the digital ARC!

There are heartbreak memories and being asked onto a second chance tv show with the one who broke the heart in question.

This followed the girls as they went on dates with their ex Jordy and then spent time together. They ended up comparing notes cause Maya thinks he’s an unredeemable ass. In the process the girl that Jordy cheated on her with years ago who she is in close proximity with, start to get close.

This was a fun backstage view of a reality show but of a guy and his ex’s trying to get a second chance romance. He doesn’t seem like he deserves one and a few of the girls fall for his charms. I hate sleezy backstabbing guys.

I enjoyed the planning and trying to get the girls to see his true colors. And the feelings that happen between Maya and Skye are 👌
Thank you Wednesday books for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

I'll admit I'm a little torn about this one. I love all of the Sophie Gonzales books I've read so far, so I went in with high hopes, but the concept of teens on a reality show like this kind of didn't work for me? Like as a YA concept in general, I feel like this concept works a lot better with NA books like The Charm Offensive. However, this could very easily be a, better if you're the intended age group situation so I can't hold it against this book .
