It’s so hard to put my thoughts to words without spoiling anything. What I can say is that while it felt like my heart was being crushed, I enjoyed every minute. This series introduced me to Ms. Smoak and will always have a special place in my heart. I cannnnot wait for the next book!!!

Brooklyn's story is not an easy one, trigger warnings so check them up. The story is good, might be better if I had read the whole series, think I'm missing bits that seem important. Overall the story had a good pacing, I got the audiobook version, so the narrator Laurie West did a decent job pacing the story and portraying the characters, she has experience with this series and as well with a repertoire of other audiobooks, editing was done as well as could be expected. Would recommend the audiobook version if you like them.

Empire High Runaway is part of a series so you’ll definitely need to read the prior books to understand what is going on. Brooklyn is in hiding after escaping from her father. Everyone from her past thinks she’s dead and Brooklyn is told that Isabella won’t stop looking for her and will kill her if she has the chance. Brooklyn has to live under another identity, but at least she has Miller to keep her company. This book covers A LOT - 16 years! Given the lengthy time frame, it felt like we missed some of Brooklyn’s story, but that is to be expected.

I CANNOT wait to see what happens next!! That cliffhanger left me desperate for the next book!

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Ivy Smoak for the audiobook ARC.

This book was very fast paced and kept you listening. It ended in such a way as you can not wait for the next book. It was a perfect mixture of romance and plot!

I did not know this was part of a series, so I don't think I really can give credible feedback. It was an okay book. A little dull and way longer than it needed to be.

This was my first time hearing about this series and so I feel like I can’t truly give this an honest review without reading the others.
I thought it was a good book but parts of it made me lose interest. I think it could’ve been 100 pages shorter and achieved the same thing.

This is the 5 book in the series. It is not a standalone, you have to read the books in order or you will have no idea what is going on. I found this out the hard way. This also ends on a cliffhanger, and I believe there are set to be 2 more books in this series.

This is an angsty and wild ride of a book. I had no idea of what to make of what was going, if it was heads or tails. It seems like this derailed from a couple in previous books and while some character shippers will be happy I believe other will not be happy.

I think this book will really resonate on which shipper line you are on.

I knew from the summary it was part of a series but I had no idea it would be so confusing to read as a standalone.

Lori West did an amazing job as a narrator and deserves a 5 out of 5 star rating. She truly puts all of her emotions into the story which makes the story more enjoyable to listen to. The story however, I will rate as a 3 out of 5. The first 46% of the story was basically the same thought process of the main character Brooklyn in every chapter and became very predictable about what she was going to say next- Matt or Miller? By 47% Brooklyn finally made her decision about which guy she wanted and the steam began. The story started to become interesting at that point until all of a sudden it was random time jumps- ranging from a few days later, a few months later, a few years later. The story seemed to be all over the place. I wanted to give a 2 out of 5 rating until the last 40 minutes of the story. All of a sudden it became a thriller suspense story and ended on a cliff hanger that actually made me want to read the next story just to find out what happens next. Due to the first half of the story being so repetitive I do not think I would recommend this story to friends.

*special thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape media for providing an audio ARC in return for an honest review.*
