Life got in the way and I could not finish the book. Thanks to the publishers for the chance to read the book.
Drunk on Love is a lighthearted workplace love story. It's endearing and one of those books that you just need to read when you need a pick me up. Books that are being written now have to be "dark", "edgy", "spicy". However, Jasmine Guillory's work reminds me of a happy hug that I want to get lost in.
The characters are cute and the "spicy" was just *chef's kiss* well written. It was too much, it didn't take place just to take place as filler, and it built on what was needed at the time. I enjoyed this book immensely and I hope everyone decides to read it!
Drunk on Love by Jasmine Guillory is a perfect fit for readers who adore lighthearted, romantic tales of self-discovery and second chances, set against the idyllic backdrop of Napa Valley's wine country, where the pursuit of love and happiness is as intoxicating as a fine vintage.
This one was everything I needed it to be. I loved the setting in the wine world, but really the main characters were the draw. So well crafted by the author. Looking forward to more from this author.
A super cute, lighthearted, and fun romance, but not one I would highly recommend for a good summer romance read! I love most of Jasmine Guillory’s romance books but this one wasn’t as much of a hit for me!
This was soo cute! I love the way Jasmine Guillory writes her characters and how they treat each other. This was a beautiful, steamy romance that begins as forbidden love (the guy she connects with one night ends up being her employee), but ends as a beautiful romance between two characters I absolutely loved! So swoony and a delight to read!
Drunk on Love is a delightful story! The characters are ones you will enjoy getting to know and there's a nice romance with a little bit of spice!
"Drunk on Love" by Jasmine Guillory is an intoxicating and sparkling romance set against the lush backdrop of Napa Valley wine country. Margot Noble, dealing with the stress of running a family winery, finds a tempting escape in Luke, a charming stranger. Guillory skillfully crafts their chemistry into a perfect one-night stand, only to throw a delightful curveball when Luke reappears as the winery's newest hire.
The narrative is a delightful blend of humor, passion, and the complexities of professional and personal boundaries. Margot's determination to keep things professional with Luke, despite the undeniable attraction, sets the stage for a challenging and engaging story. Guillory's portrayal of the characters is nuanced, and the lush descriptions of the Napa Valley create an immersive reading experience.
As Luke grapples with a career change and Margot juggles family responsibilities, the novel explores themes of identity, ambition, and the unexpected turns love can take. The ethical dilemmas add depth to the plot, keeping readers hooked on the journey of these dynamic characters. "Drunk on Love" is a delightful read that skillfully balances romance and real-world challenges, making it a standout addition to Jasmine Guillory's repertoire.
I really enjoy any Jasmine Guillory novel and this another one I really liked! Her romance writing is top notch and I appreciate how crafty she inserts sexy scenes vs. it being crude!
Margot, co-owner of a winery with her brother, faces a challenging sibling dynamic at work. To unwind, she heads out one evening and, on a dare from a friend, strikes up a conversation with a customer at a restaurant. What she assumes is just a one-night stand takes an unexpected turn when she encounters the same person at her winery the next day – as her brother's latest hire!
Jasmine Guillory continues to impress with her romance novels, and this one is no exception. It's not only charming but also touches on deeper issues like complex family relationships and racial bias.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am excited at the prospect of a sequel focusing on Margot's brother. The winery setting is perfect for more stories, and I'm looking forward to what might come next in this delightful series.
I liked this book because the story was really cozy. Somewhere in a small town in California and a winery as its main location- this sounds perfect, isn't it? I also loved the fact that the protagonist Margot is a business owner and even though the winery was not her initial decision she accepted her heritage and went all in. I often got reminded of my own work life and the ton of e-mails waiting to be answered in my inbox. Margot is a workaholic, but she also loves great food and evenings with her friend Sydney who works as a barkeeper. What coincidence that Margot meets Luke in that bar! Somehow it was difficult for me to be enthusiastic about the love story, somehow there was just too much miscommunication for me.
It is definitely a solid, cozy romcom but not a five stars book for me. Still, I am eager to read the other novels of the author.
A really cute story. If you liked Jasmine’s other books, you will love this one too! I’ve enjoyed most of Guillory’s books, sometimes they can be a little cliche and I would love to see her dig a little deeper into her characters at times. Overall, a very enjoyable, light read.
I love everything Jasmine Guillory writes. I'm not really interested in the wine business but I loved these characters.
I’m calling this week of absolute drudgery to a close. It’s a DNF and I think this is where my journey with this author ends 😭 I looooved The Wedding Date. That series was one of my all time favorites but the last three I’ve read from Jasmine Guillory have been so lackluster for me that I’m just sadly done. There’s not anything specifically wrong with this book, it’s just the classic take on a very overused trope that I was not into. No crazy sparks or banter or anything to keep me past that first night with these two much less read them through the awkward morning after Ah crap she’s my boss, mess.
Guillory does it again with another fabulous romance! She is the queen of creating real, authentic characters - they're so easy to love and root for in almost all of her books! I really enjoyed this one. I felt like parts of the middle lacked something (I'm not sure what!?) but it felt a bit slower in the middle. But overall it was great and enjoyed it!

A audácia desse macho.

While Drunk on Love did a seemingly good job with the winery aspect, the love story didn't hit as much for me. The forbidden love trope gets a bit old after the fourth or fifth time the MC worries about it--and understandably, considering she's his boss. However, the miscommunications between her and the lover and also her and her brother were too much for me, and not enjoyable. I loved that it was set in Napa, but outside of that, I probably wouldn't recommend this one of Jasmine Guillory's books to a friend.
I don’t love wine, but I do love romance!
In Drunk on Love, we are given an immediate attraction between Margot, a success winery owner, and a tech-professional named Luke. They meet in Napa after a particularly stressful day for Margot. There is a spark between these two, and both of them realize it would be good to indulge themselves. They clearly didn’t expect to see each other at work the next morning!
You can’t imagine the awkwardness!
It takes enough effort to get out of our own bed on time for work, let alone early enough from a lover’s house! Margot does not perform the “walk of shame” as its known, but rather, Luke drives her home. He wants to see her again, but she’s quite unsure about that. Either way, she gets herself together and preps herself for a Monday morning at the winery. I couldn’t help but laugh to myself when I pictured the two of them seeing each other at work. Margot’s brother hired Luke, she had no idea he was the new guy! I don’t think I have enough of a poker face to survive that. Fortunately she does, and the two of them get through their first day without attracting suspicions with co-workers.
Ever had a workplace fantasy?
Jasmine Guillory applies just the right amount pressure between Margot and Luke at work. Their night together was like an inferno, and immediately the next day they had to set the stove to simmer. It would be easy to let Luke into her office, shut the door, and lay him out on her desk. Margot Noble doesn’t take the easy routes. She works hard, and she wants to be taken seriously. She can’t allow a workplace romance to strip of her of the hard earned respect she’s earned from her employees, and the town of Napa. Instead, she draws a line between them to keep it all professional. It works for a chapter or so, but ultimately we know that the heat between them inevitably rises until they have to take a leap together, or get out of the kitchen.
I loved Drunk on Love, so much! Jasmine Guillory does such a great job of writing characters that we care about. We want both Margot and Luke to be successful as individuals, but can’t they just hurry up and get married? Their struggles are relatable. Keeping up with ethics and morals means to keep sweeping their natural feelings under the rug. Guillory manages to take us through their battles in a way that keeps us hooked, and rooting for their seemingly impossible happily ever after.
This was such a fun read! I can't wait for more by this author. I would absolutely recommend! If you are looking for a book to get you back into reading. This is it!
I LOVE Jasmine Guillory, so any chance to read something by her and I am in.
Margot is struggling a bit to continue running the family winery with her brother. The comparison between the two siblings and how they handle things in the business is wearing her down. Enter Luke, a new employee who may be there temporarily but has a good background in the business. One night in the bar before he starts and things have gotten even more complicated for Margot. But complicated may be worth it.
As per usual, I really enjoyed how Guillory set up our characters meet-cute. I was sitting there reading it, thinking, something is going to go off here. When they ended up being manager and employee, I laughed out loud.
I will say one of the things I wasn't a huge fan of was the sibling conflict. I feel like Margot wasn't being strong enough to stick up to her brother and deserved better. It weakened Margot in my eyes a bit.
Overall, this was a pretty good story. Thanks for the ARC.
