I am a HUGE fan of Katee Robert and I will read just about anything that she writes. When I found this book I was a little worried since it was outside my normal but it was worth the worry. Once I started this book I couldn't put it down and all that got in my way is dumb work.

This is a story about Mina a half-human/half-vampire who is forced into a situation by her horrible father that ends up having lots of twists, turns and spicy escapades with some HOT vampire men. Before you read this book PLEASE check the trigger warnings.

What I Loved:
- The boys, all of them are just delicious in their own ways and their dynamic together is just amazing
- The magic, Mina is not your typical dhampir and learning about what she is and all that comes with it was a great way to experience how the group works together
- Vampire story, as a millennial I have read a lot of vampire stories but this was such a fresh take on what I have read in the past that it was just a part of the story but not THE story
- Spicy, you can always expect spice in Katee Robert's books and this did not disappoint and with it being a group situation there was a lot to explore

Any fans of Katee Robert's other books should read this because you get what she is great at with amazing world and relationship building and all that spice. If you enjoy reading fantasy novels with a lot of great magic, chosen family, men, and spice that is so hard to put down you almost take a day off of work then you need to read this.

4.5/5 -

HOLY SPICY MONSTER ROMANCE! The spice was 5/5 for me and honestly, there may have been more smut than plot, but I really enjoyed this book! I loved the indenture and mystery with the fantasy twist, as well as how Mina has to learn of her ‘ancestry’ and if she can finally put an end to her fathers evil rule. The three males win this series were a perfect why choose set up - a psycho, a cinnamon roll, and a grump. Overall, Katee Robert’s didn’t disappoint and I recommend to any smut and monster loving readers!

Brief Plot: In a Why Choose Romance, Mina’s father has ‘sold her off’ to Malachi, a powerful bloodline vampire, with the intention of her to get pregnant and her father take control of him. But Machai an Mina have a strong relationship off the batt, that gets kicked up a notch or two when two other vampires, Wolfe and Raylan join the household, and they all start to questions if Mina is as weak as her father lead her to believe, and whether she can overpower him, and take control of his coven.

Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for an eARC copy of this book, in exchange for my honest review!

This is my first read by this author so your mileage might vary. I don’t read a lot of erotica and have been wanting a smutty book so I decided to give this a go. I have never read a reverse harem type book either and I was encourage by the LGBTQ+ nature this book promised.

So what I liked in this book: I liked the complicated family dynamics, especially with Wolf’s family. I liked the set up of Grace and Azazel. I liked how the men and Mina all interacted. I really loved Wolf and his love of chaos. He was definitely my favorite character.

What didn’t work for me: it was a lot of sex, especially in Acts I and II. This might be a positive for others but I wanted more storyline. For some reason Act III did a lot of summarizing of what had happened plot wise up to that point which seemed unnecessary. I wanted more world building about vampires and if it was there, it would have balanced the sex out a bit. There was pretty much immediate lust followed by love which had me rolling my eyes. I wanted to feel something about most of the relationship but really only got that between Mina and Wolf.

CW: Breeding kink, blood play, pregnancy, morning sickness

Katee Robert is the queen and she had me flipping the pages of Court of the Vampire Queen. One seemingly, sacrifice and three vampires makes this story fly by. This is a steamy one as all Robert books are!

Mina Lancaster has never been powerful, despite the fact that her father has long been a ruler of vampires. And while there is no love lost between them, when he gives her away to the dark and compelling, Malachi Zion, Mina is fully aware that she will not be coming out of the arrangement alive...

Malachi has been living in captivity for centuries, so when Mina arrives at his doorstep he is practically starving for her. But while he may crave her blood, there is more to his little dhampir than meets the eye... and his interest is only the beginning...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Court of the Vampire Queen was an intensely sexy and dangerous, reverse harem, paranormal romance! When three extremely influential vampires help Mina to discover the hidden depths of her untapped power, there will be no limit to the things they can achieve together... but first, Mina will need to claim her rightful place as heir to her father's throne...
I really enjoyed this book, and I was simply enthralled by Mina's bravery in just about every dire situation she found herself in. Holding her own with not only one, but THREE sexy and dangerous males, Mina was a force to be reckoned with!
The plot of this story was engaging and interesting, and the characters were superbly written. And while I   generally enjoyed all the gratuitous sex scenes as a whole, after awhile the trio's sexcapades began to feel extremely repetitious. But for all the same sexy scenarios, the MMMF connection was hot, hot, hot!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
This is a story about a captive queen.
I thought there were some interesting elements to the world here, but you didn’t really get to read a lot about it…. And the romance really wasn’t a fit for me personally 🤷‍♀️. I’m sure lots of romance readers will love it!
Thank you so much Netgalley & Sourcebooks Casablanca for the eArc!
I absolutely loved this book! Not only was there a great… ahem… love story, but the plot was wonderful as well! Definitely recommend!
I like a healthy dose of steam in a book, but this was ALL steam and zero story until the last third of the book! If it hadn't been for a friend telling me that there would be some action (outside of the bedroom/kitchen/hallway/bathroom) eventually I might have had my first DNF of the year. It was just so repetitive.
It particularly bothered me that there wasn't really a solid reason for all the #*@%ing either. "Oh I've woken up, let's do it" "I'm hungry, let's do it" "Wolf is in the other room, let's do it" "You bit me, let's do it". So, combined with a lack of good dialogue, unlikeable characters, constant spelling and grammatical errors, and no story for most of the book, it was really hard to get through. Plus, despite the author's note at the start warning about the lack of consent and all the 'blood play', I was 100% not prepared for either.
The actual story finally started to emerge in the last third of the book, and it was compelling enough for me to keep reading to find out what happened. Unfortunately, it ended up being super predictable, with an entirely unsatisfying ending.
This is not my first Katee Robert book, so I definitely knew what I was getting into. Court of the Vampire Queen was entirely different than what I was expecting. It featured very little plot and very explicit smut almost every chapter.
I enjoy books like these. Sometimes people just want a spicy read with little plot to follow along with. Robert is definitely well known for her smut and she does NOT disappoint with this one.
This book features a MMMF romance. I recommend checking TW/CW before reading. I enjoyed the relationship between the main characters. It was not without flaws, but it was a well written relationship. Can’t wait to see what Katee Robert does next!!
Thank you to Netgalley, Sourcebooks Casablanca, and Ms. Robert for the opportunity to read an ARC of this title. An honest review was requested but not required.
I desperately wanted to read this book, as I’ve been really enjoying the Dark Olympus series of Ms. Robert’s and sort of glomming her back catalog. This one, well, it certainly lives up to the author’s talent at writing steam. It does not live up to her talent at writing actual stories. YMMV but I really thought the bones of much more plot were *there*, they just weren’t filled in. All three of the guys were kind of one-dimensional and Mina herself too good to be true but also flatter than a pancake, character-wise. The climax seemed easily resolved for all the buildup, and the ending was more of an afterthought compared to the loooooong chapters of very detailed sex.
Summary: if you are here for the steam, you will enjoy this a lot. If you are here for romance (or even an odd romantic moment) or for a story, go back to the Dark Olympus series, which has that in spades.
I've read Katee Robert before so I should've been slightly more prepared for what went down in this book but I was not! I've never read reverse harem before but this was a great one to start with! Our main character ends up given to a vampire, who is under her father's control, and things gets spicy. I honestly thought this was a series and was surprised to find it a stand alone but it did wrap up quite well. I look forward to reading more from Katee Robert in the future!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review!
Katee Robert can do no wrong in my eyes and Court of the Vampire Queen is no exception! While there could have been more plot and less spice, the story was still compelling and well told.
I've read other books by this author from the Dark Olympus series and was curious about this title when I saw Robert was releasing a new book. Unfortunately, this book wasn't to my taste.
Pros:
The world Robert created was interesting.
I liked the representation of polyamorous relationships.
Cons:
While the world Robert created was intriguing, there was little explanation as to how things work. I've noticed this is a theme with this author of creating a fantasy world with little explanation as to how things work. I found it particularly disorienting in this book since Mina's father seemed to be some type of cult leader for vampires and no one found that strange. Additionally, the vampires seemed to have additional powers as well as a history that wasn't explained at all. There also seemed to be other paranormal creatures living in this world that just kept popping up yet Mina had no clue they existed. Was she just really sheltered?
I found Mina's character to be so annoying. She kept acting like such a victim and pretending like she was putting on a brave face, yet she kept wanting to be saved by the men while also claiming she didn't need to be saved. She was just completely helpless and I found it super off-putting. She seemed content to let the men handle everything while she was just along for the ride.
I didn't know that this book was erotica when I requested it. I expected there to be explicitness as per other Katee Robert books, but I would say that about 75% of this book was super explicit sex scenes and it got old very quickly. The plot seemed nonexistent and there was no relationship between the characters outside the bedroom. I felt like they didn't know anything about one another, even when 3 out of 4 of these character supposedly knew each other for years. Also, the characters just kept having sex when they claimed to be in very dire situations. It was a bit much for me when the characters claimed they were in a super dire situation and needed to move fast yet were able to stop and have sex. While there was technically an HEA in this book, I wouldn't classify it as romance since aside from physical intimacy, these characters had no elements of a relationship otherwise and the plot was centered around the physical aspect, not anything emotional.
Overall, I wasn't a fan of this book. If you like stuff by this author you might like it, but be prepared to read erotica, not romance. The story got old very quickly when it seemed like the characters were just flying by the seat of their pants and seemed to not be very concerned with anything aside from having sex. This book wasn't to my taste but if you're into erotica and/or like this author I'd say this book is worth trying, but it wasn't for me.
4.5/5
Three words to describe this book: spicy, dark, bloody
Three things I loved:
The angst. The history between the three vampire males lent itself well to angsty brooding and pining
Wolf. I love a good chaos character, and Wolf definitely delivered the chaos
The spice. Katee Robert always writes excellent spice, and this book is no different. It starts with a bang, almost quite literally, and just doesn’t quit.
One thing I didn’t love:
Having read all of the Wicked Villains series, this felt a lot like those books. Young person wants to rebel against crime/vampire boss parent. Crime/vampire boss parent retaliates. Young person and their retinue of lovers prevail. That’s not to say I disliked the story, it just hit very familiar beats.
I was unaware that this was originally published as three novellas, but I enjoyed seeing how this tied into The Dragon’s Bride. I’m even more excited about further demon deal novels now!
Trigger warnings are listed at the front of the book. Be sure to check them before reading as Court of the Vampire Queen deals with some heavy subjects.
It's Getting HOT in Here
First, thank you to NetGalley and Casablanca for an advanced copy of this spicy book!
Katee Robert is incredible when it comes to writing erotica. In those aspects, this was perfect. I recently read a book where the main character had two partners and when I saw this I thought why not three?! The characters and their chemistry did not disappoint.
What did disappoint me is the plot. I was under the impression, given the description, that there would be more plot. In addition, what plot there was made little sense to me. There were some contradictions that I just couldn't overlook, especially in Act III.
However, I ultimately landed on a four star rating because my personal preferences aren't enough to outweigh the fact that this book is here to be hot... and it was! If you are an erotica fan, then this is for you. The spice level breaks the chart and you should be prepared for a wild ride.
I just, like, really love Katee Robert. One of the earlier plot points is that these three bloodline vampires need to (redacted) this woman at the same time so that her mind will become unblocked and her secret powers will be revealed. And she's an angel? Y'all. The utter camp. On top of all that, per usual, it's well-written. If you're on the fence about this but think it may be your thing, just go for it.
Robert’s is widely known for her storytelling mastery when it comes to polyamorous relationships and this one delivers! COTVQ organically adds members to the relationship in ways meaningful to the plot and that add to the relationship dynamic as a whole. This FMMM relationship is steamy as all get out, but also integral.
I admit I came to this book for the heat, but the world creation and mission these vampires set out out on together kept me interested in between key to scenes.
One of the highlights for me was meeting our favourite demon Azazel as he finds his monster brides!!!
Overall, this book had tons of blood and bedroom activity ( often at the same time), but it was also a transformative story for our would-be queen, Mina. I loved seeing her come out of her shell and find her own power and strength through her sexuality. The sex positivity and freedom was good to read and lended well to her transformation.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and ebook (through NetGalley) from Sourcebooks Casablanca. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I’m a huge fan of Katee Robert’s books and I had yet to read this one, though I’d heard good things about it. I was so not disappointed. This is a reverse harem book with vampires. I absolutely loved our heroine, Mina is a damphire, half vampire and half human and pretty kick ass. She was a very strong character is a tough position with a lot of fight in her, And her three men, so spicy, you just can’t pick one. I loved this book.
This book was S P I C Y !
I have never read a Katee Robert book before and genuinely have never actively looked into her books before, so imagine my surprise when I read this super spicy book and was absolutely shell-shocked.
When there was plot it was really good and the storyline was a pretty cool concept that I'd never have imagined before, I genuinely enjoyed reading through it and Mina was a very unique character!
If you want a book with smut that will knock your socks off, this is definitely the book for you! If you're looking for a book with a bunch of plot...this might not be the book for you haha!
Overall, this was a good read that definitely is full of spice.
I really liked this book!! It was my first reverse harem book so I didn't really know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. This book was spiiiiicy. If you love vampire romance and spice this book is for you!! Loved the plot. It was fun to see how Mina grew throughout the book as she gains confidence through the boys helping her.
Highly recommend!!
