This is my first book by Lisa Marie Rice. This was entertaining but I did find it a bit cliche. The writing was repetitive and I didn't feel any connection to the characters. They felt a bit flat. Overall, it was a decent read.

This was a fast paced story with plenty of suspense/danger. The hero is kind of stalkerish, but the heroine is okay with it, so who am I to judge! There are some triggers for sure, so some readers need to proceed with caution. The book is fasted paced and super spicy. If you like intense love affairs with a lot of danger/violence, this is a solid read!

This was sadly really plain. There wasn't any new or interesting aspects and it just kept droning on while somehow also feeling like a short read. The side characters were just so bland and the cover is just very overused. It was fine if you want a comedy without it wanting to be a comedy.

This is my first book by Lisa Marie Rice and I am so glad that I gave it a chance. I felt like this book gives you everything you want romance, suspense, and an alpha male. The characters were very well written and had great chemistry. I really enjoyed it and recommend it.

Lisa Marie Rice's storyline and characters in Taken are well developed and riveting. Marcus is assertive and alpha but Eve is able to hold her own. A great, quick read.

Overall I found the story quite intriguing and well-written. Eve Banner is a somewhat lonely woman but at heart is strong. Marcus Reye is wealthy and thinks he can have anything he wants and that thing is Eve. Lots of sparks and a good ending.

Another brilliant book! Marcus is in charge of his whole world, and doesn’t give an inch. But, when he meets Eve his world is tilted on its axis. What a great read from start to finish!

Awesome book, I love all her books from the midnight series on. They keep me reading and can’t put them down until completed, she’s that good. This was is no exception. Marcus wants Eve. So much he blackmails her father into introducing her to him. When Marcus saves her from being raped and murdered it forges a beginning for them. Can something that begins as lust turn into more?

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

From the moment Marcus saw Eve he knew he had to get to know her. She was such a gentle soul who had worked so hard to get where she is today. He father was the worst kind of dad to her and is now taking her hard earned money from her to pay is debts off. Marcus knew that she was it for him the moment he was introduced to her at her father’s house. He ended up attending her event for kids in the worst part of town and the decision will alter both of their lives forever. Eve was just leaving the event but was feeling uneasy walking by herself late and the next thing she knows four men attack her in the street. She is beaten and before anything else could happen Marcus beats the men up and Carrie’s her to his car. Will things grow from this moment or will everything come crashing down and destroy them both? I was given an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Taken is a romantic suspense by Lisa Marie Rice. Generally she tries to publish one unreleased book a year and I’m always there to read her novels, because obviously I’m fan of her.

Taken is a standalone and no secondary character is substantial enough to become a hero so no sequel at all for now.

What I can say is that Lisa offers us a romance start different from what she usually does, especially the hero, Marcus Rey, who mixed for a long time with the illegal world because of his past as an abandoned child who grew up in the streets. The author stays vague about his action but we guess it wasn’t just threatening people kindly. It’s his determination that made him today into a very rich businessman. When the book begins, he has straightened his business and made it more legal but his past isn’t forgotten and everybody knows who he is and fears him.
It’s a change from her usual heroes who went into army under the same circumstances. Lisa goes a little toward mafia romance with this book. Marcus is conscious about his past and assumes it totally.

The story begins when he goes and sees a blue-blooded businessman who’s up to his neck in debt, also very antipathetic and not much appreciated by his circle. Marcus bought his debts in the precise goal to be introduced to his daughter, Eve Banner, our heroine.
She’s a book reviewer and has created a podcast channel that has so much success that she’s invited to important events. It’s while listening to one of her podcasts that Marcus has had a crush on her. He then tried to find a way to attract her attention in a traditional way and it’s by going through her ungrateful father that he finally succeeds.
I say ungrateful father because in the past the man wasn’t nice at all with Eve’s mother. When the story begins, the heroine tries to maintain a link between them but I won’t say more and let the readers discover his behavior. Nonetheless the heroine is typical Lisa Marie Rice’s heroine: nice, kind, beautiful, cultured, and elegant. Of course the hero doesn’t think himself good enough for her but he still wants to seduce her.

The story starts with a bang as when they meet, Marcus had thought about making things progress slowly between Eve and himself, but circumstances force him to act differently. In fact the very same night she has to go in a rough neighborhood to talk books with young people. Of course, she finds herself grappling with bad guys and the hero intervenes to save her. Then in order to protect her, he decides to take her to his lair. I say lair for good reasons but I let the readers discover it by themselves.

From then, we have very classical Lisa Marie Rice’s story: heroes who discover each other, feelings that bloom, danger, and of course a HEA.

All in all I really liked this story except several little drawbacks.
First of all, the repetition of events and situations, a recurrent fault with this author. That sometimes disturbs the action because instead of going forward, it drags on and I just wanted to skip lines or pages to arrive faster to the end of the scene, something I never do in the end in order not to miss a thing LOL. At least, Lisa knows how to dramatize the moment.
The second problem is that the end comes too quickly and the suspense is solved in one stroke, but what’s more it’s too easy when it had kept me on my toes and I wanted to know how they were going to bring down the bad guys. I must say I was a bit frustrated at this moment.
The last problem is that it lacks some conclusions, especially about the father.

These elements are why my rating went lower but I still was happy to have a new LMR.

Something about Eve calls to Marcus. So he engineers a meeting. But when danger follows greed will Marcus' plans of a future with Eve be for naught?
I enjoyed finding out in Taken by Lisa Marie Rice. I enjoyed Marcus. He is enthralled by Eve and he is determined to meet her and begin a relationship that he hopes will lead to a future. But will his past cause him the future he has worked so hard for? I loved that even though Eve knew Marcus was dangerous she was equally enthralled by the care Marcus takes with her. I loved that she begins to appreciate his feelings even as hers grow for this mysterious man. I enjoyed seeing Marcus and Eve find a future on their terms. And I thoroughly enjoyed this story by Ms. Rice.

TAKEN gives you a deliciously dark hero, a strong heroine, all the steamy moments, a bit of glitz and glamour, danger, intrigue and much more. A quick but incredibly enjoyable story, and one that will stay with you long after the end.

Cute read….read kind of like a fantasy. Marcus is a mystery guy with tons of money with an intense interest in Eve. They meet, sparks fly, and Marcus saves her from a violent episode.

What did I like? Easy book once your in it and my first read by this author. I was entertained by the book but couldn’t stop the fantasy reader voice in my head.

Would I recommend or buy? I’d definitely read more by this author… four stars for this. If your into romance or this author give it a try. The cover caught my eye, and the blurb sounded good so I gave it a try and I’m glad I did.

I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left a review.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
Marcus has admired Eve from afar and finds out all he can about her. Her slimy father has been taking advantage of her but Marcus sweeps in and rescues her in a desperate situation.
Eve and Marcus truly like the same things and have an undeniable attraction that they both act on. Danger however is lingering near and both are in danger. Will both of them make it out alive to live their happily ever after?

This has everything I adore about Lisa Marie Rice's books!

It's the story of Marcus and Eve, as they get together though at first it seems they come from different worlds, she a book podcaster and he threading obscure businesses while being feared by the most dangerous men in the big city.

This has Lisa Marie Rice's classical type, with a big, dangerous hero and a delicate, elegant yet strong heroine, fabulous heated moments and so many beautiful pages filled with their incredible connection and their relationship. I loved how their relationship just worked, how wonderful they treated each other and how great they were together, there was pretty much no one around, though there are some supporting characters.

I appreciate greatly reading for the first time of the immense joy that is having a reading partner who is also your lover. There is something wonderful about sharing books with the one you love.

And there is their life in Malta. I love so many things about this author's books but one thing I always take with me after reading them is what I call "the travel recommendations." I have a list of fabulous small placed in Europe where she set her scenes and they all seem amazing.

This may not be an earth shattering book but to me it was such a great read. Can't wait for the author's next book!

I received a copy of this in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is an interesting thriller that was on the edge for me until the middle of the book. Marcus Rey is an insanely wealthy man who grew up on the streets and managed to go legitimate. He's a recluse who stays invisible and loves books. When he stumbles on Eve Banner's podcast he's instantly intrigued. It's like she knows him and he becomes obsessed. He buys up all her father's debt for an introduction to Eve. It's almost like he's stalking her and for a while I wondered if he was. The he saves her the night they met from being raped and killed and we know. He's a good guy.

Eve Banner is a loner as well. Her trust fund Dad abandoned her when he divorced her mother. Eve nursed her mother through cancer by working and going to school as there was no insurance. When her mother died she managed to finish school and stumbled podcasting with her love for books. She's on the edge of going international when she meets Marcus. Her father reached out to her when she began to have success needing money. Her father is a selfish man.

After Eve was attacked Marcus realized her father betrayed her to his enemy from childhood, Russian Bratva leader Andrei Petrov. It's Petrov's men who attacked her. He takes her to his hidden home to keep her safe. This is where she falls in love with him.

I voluntarily read and reviewed and advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book unfortunately fell flat for me.

The writing was repetitive—a character would have an internal debate about something, take a few steps, then have the same debate all over again. The book itself is pretty short but it felt and read longer than its pages because of this repetition. Even with the steamy scenes, I was bored with the writing and the overall story. The characters didn’t leave a lasting impression, their connection came out of left field, and the supposedly urgent conflict was left on the back burner for most, if not all of the story.

I am giving this a star for the epilogue though, that was a cute ending.

Oh how the stoic have fallen…

I love this author’s stories! From Protectors to Men of Midnight. Ghost Ops to stand-alones, the action and adventure, the writing is always top-notch. From the irresistible characters to their always action and love-filled adventures, I get lost in a new world each and every time. Marcus and Eve were simply, wonderfully, the latest…

Protective men. There’s something about them. Their chivalry, their take charge attitude. Their insistence they can take on anything to protect those they love. Who can resist that? I certainly can’t and so it was for Eve. She was being threatened and she had no idea why. Unfortunately Marcus did…

This was an emotional roller coaster as Marcus, the devil with a heart that bled for Eve, would do anything to ensure her safety. He was obsessed. He was in love. And so was Eve… Their story was wild and hot and everything I hoped it could be.

It had been too long since I picked up an LMR story – let the rereads begin! Again…

*I happily reviewed this story
