Taken is an intense story from beginning to end and I could not put it down. Marcus Rey is such an alpha character but the reader can’t help but love him for that. He takes such good care of Eve Banner after she is attacked in such a horrible way. His love for her jumps out of the pages of the story. I enjoy romance where the hero gets to be a hero without overshadowing the heroine and this author has done a great job at making Marcus and Eve likable and strong characters. The plot is my favorite where the guy saves the day and that doesn’t take away from the woman’s role of being strong and a perfect partner for our hero. I really liked Jorge’s character as he was a great right hand man for Marcus and adds a bit of humor to the story. This author is a definite auto buy and Taken will certainly be a re-read for me. I highly recommend this book as well as this author’s many other great stories.
I love a good Lisa Marie Rice book. Taken was excellent. Marcus wanted Eve and going through her father by blackmail was how he was going to do it. Eve's father was a deadbeat dad who had lost all his money and kept borrowing from his daughter, making her broke all the time. Marcus put a stop to it but in revenge he turned him into a very bad man. Eve is attacked, he saves her and then starts to take care of her. He has never had anyone for hmself, but he really wants Eve. When they are attacked, Eve is the one who makes sure he lives. This was such a good read. I hated to put it down.

4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is my first time reading this author and it didn’t disappoint. I really enjoyed this fast paced book. This book had a little of everything romance, suspense, and a intense alpha male.
Marcus started from nothing and fought his way to the top. He never got close to anyone because of the enemies he made until he heard Eve’s podcast.
Eve was a rich girl that became poor over night because of her father. She worked hard for her success while taking care of her mother before she passed away. They meet at her dad house and later when she is being attack on the streets. He saves her and take care of her. Eve and Marcus had a lot in common they like the same taste in books and music but what they had most in common was they were both lonely. The character’s connection to each other was really well written.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley for a honest review.
Taken by Lisa Marie Rice takes me back to when I first read her original stories and couldn't put them down. Eve meets Marcus when she goes to see her father, who is not a nice man. Marcus has bought out her father's debts and wants him to introduce him to Eve. Instead Eve's father sells her out and thus begins the relationship between these two. Great story, great couple, I was sad when it ended.
I love how Lisa makes her dominant male characters intense and smoldering, you know who the alpha is in the relationships. But they are the perfect man so they always have a lot of respect for women and put her needs first. Hot hot hot scenes, you know what I'm talking about. Always a great read, this book was just not long enough.
Description
She is his. She just doesn’t know it yet.
Marcus Rey clawed his way to the top. He is immensely wealthy, ruthless and feared. He has everything he could possibly want ... except for her.
Eve Banner.
Elegant, cultured, regal—she makes Marcus’s pulse pound like nothing ever has. But the remote, bookish beauty is out of reach for a man who does not officially exist. But she has come into the sights of his worst enemy and he has to sweep her to his luxurious underground mansion to save her life.
Eve has worked hard for her success and enjoys it. Though she is a little lonely. The men she
meets are so weak and boring. It’s easier to be alone. Until one night she is attacked by thugs, and rescued by a man who is anything but weak or boring.
Marcus Rey is strong, mysterious, secretive … dangerous. A man doomed to always live in the shadows. But he calls to her like no man ever has. She is tempted to stay in his underground lair forever.
But then his deadly enemies start closing in on them with terrifying speed …
I have read several of Lisa Marie Rice’s books. She does a fantastic job creating characters and intense, action packed love stories. I discovered this book on Netgalley and once I read the synopsis I was hooked.
Taken is a fantastically written romantic suspense novel by Lisa Marie Rice. It has great characters, intense passion, some action and a happily ever after. Once stared, I couldn’t put my e-reader down until I was finished. I throughly enjoyed the deep, multi-level connection between the intense, alpha bad boy hero, Marcus Rey and the sweet, elegant but bookish heroine, Eve Banner.
When Eve was younger, her father kicked her and her mother out and let them fend for themselves. Now her father is losing everything and keeps getting money from Eve, who is a famous podcaster. Marcus was poor and an orphan who fought his way to the top. He buys Banner, Eve’s dad, debt from someone else and he wants his daughter, Eve. Banner sells Marcus’s weakness, Eve. Eve is leaving an engagement in a bad part of town when she is attacked. Marcus happened to be there and saved her just in time. He takes her back to her house and stays with her. After several days he moves her to his place. But when it’s bombed, will they be able to make it out alive?
This was a whole better than I thought. Action, sex, and enemies. Marcus is handsome and dangerous. Eve is beautiful and sweet. I believe they make a good couple. I didn’t want to put the book down until I was finished.

I requested this one because it might be an upcoming title I would like to review on my Youtube Channel. However, after reading the first several chapters I have determined that this book does not suit my tastes. So I decided to DNF this one.
I have been a fan of Lisa Marie Rice's since Midnight Angel, which I read over a decade ago so I was extremely excited to read this new book.
The very first page caught my attention and had me hooked. Marcus makes no apologies for wanting Eve and the lengths he will go to have her. He is a possessive, delicious alpha male with a soft center, which is the kind of hero I have come to love from this author. I have to say that I think the book was misnamed however. The title 'Taken' doesn't really fit, in my opinion. Eve is not taken by Marcus in the way you assume. She is not taken by his Russian enemy. That being said, the book is filled with twists and turns, suspense and the unlikely pairing of a morally grey alpha hero and a quiet bookworm with a podcast.
