Gender Queer is a tour-de-force visual text, and an amazing vulnerable encounter with a brave author/artist. Absolutely essential reading and a powerful use of the comics medium.

A magnificent piece of art that tells the gender queer story of one person in a way to help non queer people understand others and queer people to relate or understand themselves.

This had some of the best depictions of gender queer rep I've ever seen. I truly cannot recommend this enough. It meant so much for me even though I am very far on my queer journey, nothing has quite hit as hard as this did as far as reading about my experiences. I have no complaints. This was perfect!

Thank you, Oni Press, for allowing me to read Gender Queer early!

It was definitely an experience, but not a fully enjoyable one.

Genuinely upset with myself that I didn't read this book sooner but so excited that this new edition is coming out (pun intended). This book is a masterpiece in nonfiction, graphic art, and identity discovery.

ALL the love for this book. It makes me feel so seen as someone who is constantly questioning their gender and what feels right to me. I wish I had this book growing up, but I'm so glad future young adults will be able to see themselves within these pages.

I've heard such great things about Gender Queer over the years, and I'm so happy that I finally had the opportunity to read it! This is a beautiful graphic novel and following the author's experience with their gender identity is such a treasure. I loved the internal reflection as well as numerous experiences, both difficult and supportive. This is a fantastic story for any age and I'm grateful to have read it!

This is a wonderfully illustrated and written memoir about gender identity. This would be a fabulous study for high school gender clubs and groups at a school such as GSA. It explores some really in-depth questions that we know young adults are asking. This can help them explore those ideas in a safe environment.

I have the regular edition of this book on my self at home and I am so glad I got to read this deluxe edition. You can see the care put into the final product when looking at the rough drafts. I am in awe of Maia Kobabe for being so open about eir gender journey. I could never be so succinct on a matter that is so personal and fluid as my gender, so props to em. As an agender person, I love getting to learn more about other people's experiences with gender and this novel was no different in that it showed me how personal gender is yet how trans people have always existed and found their people. Which makes me endlessly happy. I highly recommend this book.

Thank you to NetGalley for the digital copy. I heard of this book due to several schools banning it here in Texas, and then it appeared on the ALA's list of Most Challenged Books of 2021, so I knew I had to read it. After reading this story, it really makes me sad that it is facing so many challenges. Yes, there are few graphic panes in the book, but the overall message and journey of the author is an important one that many young adults may relate to as they navigate adolescence. Which brings me to a maybe controversial opinion. I wish that those couple of panes were maybe edited to be less graphic but not because I'm offended by them, but rather I feel like it would be taken off the shelves less in schools and be more accessible to kids who need it. Graphic novels are so tough! Nevertheless, it was a great and important read.

I completely adore this book. It was the first time in my whole life that I ever saw myself so much in a character, and saw a character say things that I myself, as an asexual and nonbinary person, have said. It really validated my existence in a way I didn't expect. I can't wait to buy this edition!

I loved this! Super comprehensive representation of the authors gender identity and eir journey of coming into emself. The drawings are so well done, and the story is even better. I will definitely be buying a physical copy for my parents, and i really enjoyed the extra stuff that came with this edition. Highly recommend!
