A truly laugh out loud amusing hate to love/will they won’t they trope. June hates Ryan with the passion of 10,000 suns. She’s been happy he’s been gone for the last 12 years. And then her bff is marrying his bff so he is back in town. The sparks fly, but not in the good way until….. Can they get out of their own way as individuals and potentially as a couple? Can they let go of the past and move forward together? And mostly importantly can they be honest with themselves and each other? Sounds heavy, but is truly a riotous road to their HEA. Truly loving this author and can't wait to read what comes next.
I got 25% of the way through and couldn’t keep going because I was getting annoyed with the main character. Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley in exchange for a review!
I think this book suffered from the marketing of it. It is not an enemies-to-lovers story. Obviously there's a conflict between the two but both of the characters are pining for the other, making it just a miscommunication. The characters felt immature to me. I didn't really understand the whole issue and why it was important enough to hold a grudge for years. I was left disappointed because I liked the first book.
High school classmates (rivals!) Caroline (bakery owner) and Ryan (super famous chef) reunite when Ryan returns to Charleston twelve years after graduation for their best friends’ wedding.
I went back and forth between the audio and hardcopy of this. I liked this one more than The Match, but I enjoyed the Evie + Jake cameos in this. I enjoyed this sweet second chance, enemies-to-lovers romance. The audiobook was well done.
This title archived before I was able to download and listen to it. Maybe I'll be able to get the audiobook from the library at some point.

"The Enemy" by Sarah Adams is a witty and charming enemies-to-lovers romance that will keep readers hooked from start to finish. The novel follows bakery owner Caroline as she faces her high school rival, Ryan, at their best friends' wedding. Caroline is determined to show Ryan that she has moved on from their past, but when Ryan starts pursuing her with his charming smile and tender attentions, she begins to question if it's all just part of their old games or something more.
Adams does an excellent job of building tension between the characters, and their banter is both hilarious and heartwarming. The chemistry between Caroline and Ryan is electric, and readers will find themselves rooting for them to overcome their past and embrace their feelings for each other.
The story is well-paced, with just the right mix of humor, romance, and drama to keep readers engaged. The author also tackles some serious themes, such as bullying and mental health, in a thoughtful and sensitive manner.
Overall, "The Enemy" is a delightful and engaging read that fans of enemies-to-lovers romance will not want to miss. Adams is a talented writer, and her characters are both relatable and endearing. This book is highly recommended for anyone looking for a sweet and satisfying romance.
I recently binge listened to every single Sarah Adams book thanks to this audio book. This was my favorite and the narrator was perfection. Loved this!
Not a fan of the slow burn. Unfortunately it was a DNF for me.
I liked the MMC, but I found the FMC to be annoying.
I love this author’s books! She writes relationships and banter well. Her books are quick and easy to read - the story flows. I love it when a main character cooks or bakes! If you don’t know Sarah Adams, read this one and then read the rest of her books too.
Sarah Adams books are the perfect slow burn romcom. Judy and Ryan have a great love-hate relationship turning.
A sweet, clean romance that is a wonderful light hearted book The audiobook was well done and I enjoyed getting to know the characters of June and Ryan through the alternating point of view narration. Though it didn't feel like a traditional enemies to lovers book it was still entertaining. June and Ryan's relationship is more of a missed chances romance. They both have been pining for each other since high school but never admitted it to one another.
This is the second book in the It Happened in Charleston series but can most definitely be read as a stand alone. June is Jake's sister from the first book 'The Match' (which I highly enjoyed). June's family is full of colorful characters that I hope are featured in future books in this series.
I am extremely grateful to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to an audiobook of this sweet book in exchange for a honest review.
DNF
Unfortunately, I will not be finishing this book so I cannot leave a full review. I just did not particularly enjoy the narration and the main character was getting on my nerves so my enjoyment of the overall story was going down. Thank you so much for the opportunity!
This is probably my favorite of Sarah Adam's books. I think this one has the best tension and angst going on it to really draw readers in. It's hard to beat and the audio was good!
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I like the narrator of this book, but I did not like the characters. I often found myself so frustrated with where the story was going that I shut it off, and after 75% I stopped listening.
This was an okay example of the enemy to lovers trope. I liked the dual narrators, having the two voices makes it much easier to follow the story. I did find the plot rather predictable and June was definitely annoying at times.
This book wasn't for me. It's marketed as an enemies to lovers story but its really not that. The plot was thin and felt forced. The main character was so immature that I couldn't believer the author thought to make her 30 instead of 13.
As with all of the other reviewers, this is not an "enemies to lovers" book. This is a "secretly in love to lovers" book. This is not a spoiler. Within the first few chapters you find out they've always been pining after each other. So even the title is misleading. BUT! I enjoyed this one more than the first installment, The Match. The Match was too sugary sweet. Though I did give them both 4 stars. But this one was a bit more 4-star than The Match.
I’ve heard so much about this author and o was so excited when I got this book! It was exactly what I expected and I loved it so much! I deff recommend
3.5 stars [Liked it]
This was another cute read by this author. The writing and narration were really good. I loved the dual POV but something was missing for me. I felt a bit bored at times but I’m glad I kept going, it was an enjoyable read overall. I recommend checking out this series (starting with The Match).

"Some of us need to live through the healing instead of talking through it."
June and Ryan have been in at war since they were in school together. It's been 12 years since they have seen each other, but now they are both back in town for a wedding. What happens when Ryan finally starts to pursue June?
Ok y'all this one is a super cute enemies to lovers romance. I never thought I would say it, but I really enjoyed this clean rom-com. Yall, Ryan falls first, is a famous chef, handsome, respectful and compassionate. Where do I sign up? While on the other hand, June is a successful part owner of a doughnut shop, very skittish of sharing her feelings, and won't have sex with anyone until she is sure about the relationship including Ryan. Honestly, she reminds me a lot of myself. I cried at the part where Ryan tells her he want a healthy relationship, and you can't run away from me when you're scared. The epilogue was so cute, and they still continue to prank each other. The pacing was great, and this book was just the right length.
