Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to listen to and review this book.

This book follows June and Ryan who have known and feuded since high school. On the day of their graduation Ryan and June almost kissed until Ryan pulled away and June never saw him again. Fast-forward 12 years June and Ryan see each other again because their best friends are getting married. Over the 12 years both Ryan and June have become successful in their careers. Unbeknownst to June Ryan has excelled as has she, but June wants to rub it in Ryan's face how well she has done.

Throughout this book June and Ryan explore their relationship and feelings for one another while also working through things in their own lives that have them at a crossroad. I really enjoyed the book, seeing June and Ryan give in to their attraction to each other and make progress in their own lives finding their own successes.

Overall, I would say this book was very good if you are looking for a rom-com. The only thing that I would say I didn't like is that I wouldn't say this book is an enemies to lovers, because they very quickly move past being enemies. Otherwise I would fully recommend people looking for a rom-com to pick up this book.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for sending me an early copy of this audiobook! All opinions are my own!

Where do I start with how much I loved this book?? I think the thing that made it so funny and enjoyable was how relatable June was to me. She was just a real person with real struggles trying to face the world and be better than she was the day before. She was goofy and nerdy and sometimes just a mess, but that's what made her so lovable. Literally from chapter 1 I was rooting for her and was already utterly in love with her.

And then there was the romance! It was technically enemies to lovers, but it was so sweet and endearing, it had me smiling constantly. Ryan was such a gentleman and his banter with June was absolute perfection. Every moment that they were together was wonderful to experience, and I couldn't have asked for a better relationship.

And then there was the way that June grew through so many hard things during this book. While it was sweet and silly, it was also deep, and I loved that about it. It really dove into June's self-image struggles and her healing process, and the way that Ryan never once hindered her but simply loved her through it all was amazing. I adored watching June's journey, and I think the best part was how it felt so real that I could put myself in her shoes.

If you like romcoms, this is a must read for you!

I really liked this one! The chemistry was killer, with so many sweet gooey moments. Complete with an airport running scene and the best ending. Great audiobook narrator as well.

I just love books by Sarah Adams. She just has such a great writing voice. It always surprises me because I love “spice” in my romances and this book is not spicy. However, I still loved it so much. The hero and heroine have great chemistry. The author did an amazing job with this enemies to lovers trope. Even when they’re together, these characters are trying to one up each other. It was hysterical. This book was well written with great conflict and good character growth. I couldn’t stop listening. The narrators did a great job as well. I highly recommend this one for a wonderful summer read/listen!

I want to first thank the publishers and Netgally making it possible for me to read an ARC of this book.

This is a refreshing enemies to love’s romance and has some suggestive content but not a lot of smut. Now I like smut but it is nice every once and awhile to have a romance that doesn’t make the characters have unrealistic relations.

I love the prank wars and natural progression of their relationship. Some enemies to lovers are a bit unrealistic but this book followed so well.

June and Ryan also had fairly realistic life problems which was nice.

Read/listen if you love:
- Enemies to lovers
- Strong friendships
- Nick Lachey
- Donuts
- Mr. Darcy-like hero
- Backwards baseball hats
- LOL moments (opening bathroom scene!!!)

I read this a couple of years ago, but was recently given an ARC by Dreamscape Media. Listening to it made me love it even more! The narrators were fantastic!

Sarah Adams writes my favorite enemies to lovers romcoms. Seriously, she makes them work. for. it. June and Ryan had been rivals ever since high school, but they always secretly carried a torch for each other. Ahhhh, I adore secret pining!! And since this is dual POV, we get in both of their heads and we're able to see just how much they pine for each other. But June is still "hates" Ryan. Ryan pretends to still hate June. June has a one date rule. Ryan is determined to get that second date. And so what follows is hilarious banter, so many LOL moments, and sizzling kisses!

June...gosh, I love her so much. She's so strong and feisty and maybe a little salty (with good reason!). She is so relatable and easy to connect to. Her heartbreak became my heartbreak. She's the type of heroine that you just want to be friends with. And then there's Ryan...definitely one of my favorite book boyfriends. I love how he saw June's fragility buried underneath her tough exterior. He took his time and showed June just what she needed in a man. He created a beautiful relationship of trust and communication with her. Ryan and June together are playful, adorable and devastatingly swoon-worthy. I could read about them over and over again. If you haven't tried Sarah Adams yet, what are you waiting for?!

I appreciate the fact that they didn't have a big blow up misunderstanding fight that led to a breakup and then a whole bunch of moping around.

I also appreciate the fact that Ryan was a little bit dishonest about what he was doing when he went to checkout the restaurant, felt real bad about it, and then TEXTED JUNE AND TOLD HER WHAT HE WAS ACTUALLY DOING and apologized for not just being straight up with her in the first place, instead of hiding it and having it revealed in some dramatic fashion. Can we get more of that please?

And when June was all overwhelmed because stupid Noah was trying to get under her skin and she was feeling insecure because she realized just what a big deal Ryan actually was and ran away... guess what happened? She realized how silly she was being and that she reallllly liked Ryan, and went back!

That was, like, a breath of fresh air to me.

Did I find their tricks on each other to be silly, especially since

1. They seemed a bit extreme and
2. because they were literally full grown adults acting like elementary school kids.

Yes. But that obviously didn't detract from my enjoyment of the novel. This was a fun fake enemies to lovers book (I say fake, because although they acted liked they didn't like each other, they were both crazy about the other person and had been for quite some time.

I also loved the family dynamics of this book!

It was a fast and fun read, and I would 10 out of 10 recommend for you to give it a try.

Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to listen to an audio ARC

What a delightful wonderful Rom Com! This has been a great fluffy read. I had fun from the first page to the last. This book explores a second chance enemy's to lovers story. There is nothing like a perfect romance to help you enjoy this new read!

The Enemy, as you could probably guess from the title, is an enemies to lovers (more like fake enemies) closed-door slow burn romance. This is book two in the It Happened in Charleston series, but can be read as a standalone.

June and Ryan have expressed their dislike for each other beginning in high school and carrying on over a decade later. When their two best friends are getting married, they are forced to be around each other and individually face their mutual pining. As they spend more time together, they open up more and more.

This book was pretty slow burn. You learn fairly quickly that both June and Ryan both secretly like each other, but June especially continues to mess with him. She does not have a huge reason to hate him either.

I eventually found myself frustrated with June’s childish antics when Ryan made his feelings obvious and simple communication would solve her doubts. Ryan was very sweet, considerate, and knows how to cook. He cared a lot for June and was willing to make plenty of changes for her.

I listened to this as an audiobook and enjoyed it, although I probably would not read it as a physical copy. Sarah Adams does really well at funny characters, discussing important topics in an appropriate way, and developing fun plots. Her newer books definitely hit more of a mark for me, but this one was enjoyable still!

As a foodie and a romance lover, I was destined to enjoy this book. It was both comforting - filled with expected tropes and formulas - and surprising - by subverting some of my expectations. The story was really enjoyable and I thought Ryan and June had great chemistry fueled by a mutual love of pranking each other (that did have them behaving immaturely at times, but I didn't mind too much) and the story had a very light-hearted tone that was a great pick-me-up.

I received a copy of the audiobook via the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

June is living her best life she has a successful bakery selling the best donuts and living with her “one date rule.” That is until her High School nemesis Ryan Henderson shows up as a groomsman for her best friends fiancé for their upcoming wedding. Now forced to spend time with Ryan, June quickly is forced to admit she never hated him after all. In fact, she’s been pining for him since she was 12.

My thoughts: I really enjoyed this one, with a few laugh out loud moments. Naked in dressing rooms, and morning mustaches. There were definitely times when I was rolling my eyes at the pettiness of June, but I think that comes with the territory of an enemies to lovers troupe. I really loved the narrators in the audiobooks, and I love a good hers/his point of view.

Read this if you’re a sucker for:
* Enemies to lovers
* Multiple points of view
* Laugh out loud moments
* Donuts

I’m so happy this one came out on audio! I read the first book in this duo so I was so happy to be approved for this one too.

I did feel like the title was a little misleading, because while it’s quasi enemies to lovers, it was just full of avoidance and miscommunication.

June was a little annoying, but I think she was written that way. Ryan was interesting and I don’t know how I felt about him just taking up camp in June’s house despite her very clear denials to his advances.

I did enjoy the pranking, but there were aspects of the plot mentioned above that prevented this one from being a five star read for me.

June and Ryan have been enemies since high school. They haven't seen each other since the night of their high school graduation, but all of that is about to change since their best friends are getting married. June is dreading the thought of Ryan being back in town, but Ryan can't wait to see her...

This is my first Sarah Adams novel, and even though it says it's number 2 in the series, it's definitely fine as a standalone. I didn't feel like I was missing anything by not reading the first book in the series. This was a cute little story. True "enemies" to lovers. I'll admit I found it a little cheesy and hard to listen to at first (hence the 4 star rating), but it grew on me. The characters are likeable and funny, but as always, these types of novels are usually pretty predictable. I loved the dual narration and both narrators did a pretty good job.

Thank you so much NetGalley and DreamScapes Media for this audiobook ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The Enemy has one of my favorite romance tropes, enemies to lovers. This was a fun story about June, the owner of a donut shop and Ryan, her high school nemesis/Michelin rated chef. Years later, they see each other again as they are both in the same wedding. This was a very sweet, spice free romance. If you are looking for heat, this is not that kind of book, but it is funny and I enjoyed Sarah Adams' view of romance.

This was a cute read. I particularly loved both Ryan and June’s sense of humor. I thought their back and forth wit was adorable.

If you’re expecting a strong enemies to lovers, this is not it. Although they were enemies throughout high school, they actually have been secretly in love with each other, which is made clear pretty early on.

The audiobook was done really well. I loved both of the narrators!

Overall: I enjoyed this read. If you’re looking for a witty clean RomCom then this is the book for you 💕

Sara Adams truly created a recipe for romance with her book The Enemy. For fans of “hate to love” tropes, this book is for you! I wanted MORE with every page!

This was a quick and cute enemies-to-lovers romance that had me laughing throughout most of the book! It balanced issues like trust issues and body image with an adorable romance. While the beginning of the book fell a little flat to me, once the romance began, it was great.
I also thought the narrators did a great job!

Loved this book! This is the first book I’ve read by Sarah Adams and it definitely won’t be the last! I listened to the audiobook version and adored the narrators. Like the title implies, it’s a sweet enemies to lovers story combined with fun pranks. It’s the kind of romcom that has you chuckling out loud one minute and fanning yourself the next.

June is a cute, short in stature 29 year old donut shop owner who never quite forgot her enemy from high school, Mr. Darcy aka Ryan Henderson. The day of graduation they almost kissed and June can’t forget that he turned away. Now a successful woman, she’s ready to face her old nemesis at her best friend’s wedding. She’s expecting a dumpy looking guy, but instead, he’s as handsome as ever.

Ryan has never forgotten June. In fact, he secretly had a crush on her in high school and has waited for this moment to reconnect with her. He’s an in demand, youngest 3 star Michelin chef, yet, he feels his life is missing something. He thinks his game-playing, sweet enemy from high school might just have the answer.

Loved listening to this hilarious, cute romcom! The narrators were perfect and captured the characters expertly. Both the female and male narrators were fabulous and I enjoyed listening to both. Definitely recommend the audiobook version.

June and Ryan were such fun characters. I loved their banter and of course the harmless pranks and games they play. Some of the awkward situations they find themselves in had me laughing out loud. June is skeptical of Ryan’s pursuit and she definitely has some trust issues. Ryan is the perfect gentleman yet has that devilish, mischievous side that is hard to resist.

Looking forward to reading the other books in the series and I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to read a Sarah Adams book! While it’s the second book in the series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. As far as content, the romance is clean with nothing more than lots of kissing. Just a few potty words, but no swearing. Mentions of characters getting drunk. I received an advanced audiobook copy of the book through NetGalley. All opinions are my own and I was not required to provide a positive review.

Audiobook Review:
Sarah Adams did it again with another cute and clean romance.

June and Ryan knew each other in high school as their best friends were dating and they used that time hanging out to grow crushes on each other but also out of not knowing better become “enemies” as they did things to irritate the other.

Now, 12 years later their friends are getting married and June can’t stand Ryan, but Ryan has secretly been keeping track of June’s successes with her bakery.

Once they reunite for the wedding activities it is clear they are more than enemies if they even really ever were.

Narration of this audiobook was also wonderful and loved experiencing this story in this format! I highly recommend checking out the audiobook once it is available on 5/17!

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the advanced copy of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review!

(3.5 stars, rounded up)

Content warning: infidelity

June and Ryan have been enemies since high school who reunite at their best friends' wedding. June runs a doughnut bakery with BFF Stacy and can't wait to rub her success in his face. When she does, she finds out he's a Michelin-starred chef.

When disaster strikes and Stacy's caterer gets the flu before the wedding, she begs Ryan to cook for the wedding. He agrees with one caveat -- June must assist him and volunteer her kitchen for the endeavor. The forced proximity makes June more comfortable with Ryan's presence -- which could be a mistake if she wants to remain his enemy.

The writing style is first-person and narration switches between June and Ryan. I enjoyed June's voice much more as her story sounds like she's one of your girlfriends or a reality TV star telling her story in the diary room. June is probably the least self-aware person on the planet which will come across as either endearing or annoying depending on the reader.

The book mentions Southern accents and I'll say it again for the people in the back -- Charlestonians don't have accents! June's mom is from Kentucky, and she mentions that there's a difference between Southern and country, and the accent pretty much is the difference. Connie Shabshab's narration reflects this more as only June's mother is read with a Southern accent.

Recommended for fans of contemporary romance, especially those who like Southern romance.
