I love Shannon’s Home Made Lovely book, so I was excited to dive into this one! Wow, what a great resource! There are so many practical tips and checklists that I will be coming back to over and over again. I like that she clarifies that some declutter methods mentioned are not recommended when you have a newborn or very young children.
I received an advanced reader copy by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I’ve Needed All The Help I Could Get!
I don’t think I’m the only one in this worked who needs clutter help! I tend to use the excuse I was never taught by my mom and on top of it the trauma when she passed when I was 16 and I didn’t want to get rid of anything I could hold on to.
I can’t say any of those things didn’t cause me to be the way I am but I have to own it at this point. I also feel bad for my adult kids because I’m sure it made a negative impact on them in some way.
This book helped me identify some things I hadn’t. It helped me start… it helped me put some tools into my tool belt to get things done.
Karen Ehman has many books out that are great. I look forward to reading more helpful books!
I received a complimentary ARC of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.
The Clutter Fix was an okay read. I found it repetitive and I didn't really learn any new tips on organization. I wasn't a fan of the "affirmations" part either, even though it wasn't supposed to be weird...I still didn't like it. Lol.
All in all, not a book I plan on rereading.

As I’m moving house soon I thought this would be a helpful read, something to help me get into the right mindset while I’m already going through all my possessions.
I felt it gave an interesting insight and offered some useful tips and advice and was worth reading for someone who is looking to declutter their home. (Although as someone with 2 young children I have to say it’s a LOT easier said than done).
This book was really insightful. It was different than anything I've read in the past. It really did impact my reading life in a positive way.
I really enjoyed this book! I took it slow and am super glad I did. In fact, from reading this book, I began a goal to go through a downsize a number of things that I own. I love books, so I made my biggest goal to downsize my library by 20%. Shannon writes in a super accessible way and her words of VERY encouraging! There wasn't a chapter that I didn't end with saying, "Man, I want this! I want freedom from the stress that material things cause in my family's life!" Thank you, Shannon for sharing and for writing this SO well! (My wife sure thanks you too! She's been trying to get me to downsize things for a LONG time, lol!) I'm going to look for a copy so my wife can read it, because I know she'd love it too!
That is really a useful book! I lot of tricks that can make your cleaning process better. When I look at the cleaning process that I have made with it! I can say that the technic is wonderfull
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
The Clutter Fix is a self-help workbook to help you declutter and organise your life and home. I enjoyed how this book was set out and all the worksheets included throughout the book. Divided into four parts the book helps you not only declutter and organise but to keep on top of what you have done too so it doesn't start to build up again. The four parts cover: Part 1: Get some quick wins under your belt. Part 2: Build a decluttering mindset. Part 3: Declutter and organise every room in your home. Part 4: Master Maintenance Mode. If you need some practical and easy to do and understand help and advice and love lists and worksheets, this book is definitely one you need to read.
So I requested this book and a few others from Netgalley. I am not a fan of the Netgalley reading app and will not request more books to read but will most certainly request more audiobooks.
So my wife and I started. And it was FUN. Not what I expected. We recorded the first few days on TikTok so here is a link of one of those short video’s.

I hope that link works.
The book does not state that it is fit for all. Or a one size fits all. It gives the reader quite a bit of space to adapt and adjust the basic principle to their schedule and their homes.
I loved the fact that the writer writes this book from a Christian POV. And shares text from the Bible to motivate the reader. That was quite an original premise for me.
So in total even though I did not manage to read nor work through the entire book, I found it very helpful and above all a fun book to use to work on that pesky clutter.

Happy Reading!
I am someone who is always looking to keep my space clean and minimal, and when I saw this book, I was really interested in picking it up! I really benefit from a step-by-step manual of what exactly to do, and this book was perfect in telling me what to clean, how to clean, and where to focus on.
This book was very clearly intended for people with children and homes, and especially a lot of accumulated clutter from multiple years of having a home, like moms, which is not super relevant for me right now. For that reason, I will be passing it on to someone else, but I'll be keeping it in mind in the future.
With that being said, I think this book is a super valuable tool in those who want to start living more simply and meaningfully: the way it is set up is really accessible, and I really love the checklists and worksheets that are included. There is a section of the book that discusses the reason behind accumulating clutter and long term ways to stay minimal (i.e., mindset, habits, and routines), which I love. The author speaks with so much grace to those who want to start decluttering their homes and the mindset shift that it requires.
By far the best part of this book is how easy and accessible it makes decluttering seem: there are lots of lists of things to declutter, easy ways to get started, and worksheets that lay out a plan without being too overwhelming. I also really like the way it makes decluttering sustainable by laying out a plan that allows for maintenance and habits to learn.
Overall, I really like this book! It is a super handy tool and I think it will be very valuable for homemakers. Unfortunately, this book isn't super relevant for me during my current stage of life, so I didn't get out as much from it as I would have liked, but I still think this book is really good and I recommend it!
Loved this! I have found that a lot of the "home cleaning/organizing" books really deter me because most seem to strive for an unachievable aesthetic for the everyday gal. Shannon gives practical tips and strategies to organize spaces in very reasonable ways. I also appreciated how down to earth and relatable she was. A joy to read! Thank you NetGalley for providing an eARC copy of this book!
The cover and content do not align. A lot of text which needs some decluttering itself. It does have some good tips and tricks, yet they can be found by the patient reader.
I am constantly fighting the clutter in our home, with three kids and not a lot of storage space in our old home. So, I was thrilled to get a copy of this book and implement some of the solutions in it.
There are scores of books available on clearing away clutter. Why would you want to read this one? It has all the right ideas on cleaning out stuff and organizing what remains, just like lots of other books. She has a ten day plan that gives you a quick win, perhaps not something unique, but encouraging. She also begins her work with suggesting we think about what we want our home to feel like. She offers more resources on her website as do others.
There are a few aspects of this book I felt made it unique enough to read yet another book on the topic. Acheson writes from a Christian viewpoint. She reminds us we are stewards of what God has given us. That means we don't just automatically throw stuff away. That brings up another aspect of the book I like. When we decide what to do with what we no longer want, we are to consider others. Perhaps that business suit we no longer need is exactly what another does need for a crucial job interview. And another unique topic in this book is an exploration on why we accumulate stuff in the first place. Perhaps we fear we will not have enough of something we need later. Acheson encourages us to trust God, that He will supply our needs. She also recognizes different personality styles when it comes to organization and has specific suggestions for each of them.
This book contains many practical ideas to keep our homes free of clutter and for a lifestyle of organization. It also contains some thoughtful sections touching on our spiritual responsibility and our personality style. If you are desiring a home that is one without the stress of clutter, this book is recommended.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
I have read several books on organization and decluttering over the years and I appreciated this one for several reasons. For one thing, the author suggests practical, and doable steps that allow the reader to start small in the process of decluttering her house. It was also encouraging that she is not a minimalist and had other suggestions for organizing other than just to get rid of most things. Several authors I have read lately recommend minimalism and that is not realistic for my household. The part of the book that I appreciated the most is when she went through the different organizing personalities and how to address when there are different types of organizers in a house. That has always been a big issue for me because my husband and I are very different so the author had some good suggestions of how to deal with these differences. I read the book the first time to get an overall opinion, but I will definitely be going through the book again and follow her suggestions one step at a time.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
If you are are struggling to maintain an organized home, The Clutter Fix by Shannon Acheson is the book for you!
This book is nothing short of phenomenal! I love how simple and easy Acheson makes things. Her approach is unique to anything that I have ever heard, but upon hearing it, it makes perfect sense. I especially loved the organizational personality quiz, checklists, and access to her additional printables.
As a Christian I appreciated her outlook on being a good steward of our things. We are charged to be appreciative and responsible for the things we have been blessed with. If and when things no longer serve a purpose for our family, donating them to others is the ideal solution.
I enjoyed this book so much, I will be buying it for myself as well as her first book. In fact, this will be a gift I give to several close relations whom I know can benefit from Acheson’s sage advice.
Special thanks to NetGalley.com and Bethany House for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest feedback.
As someone who has never read a "how to" book before on clutter, I found Shannon Acheson's second book The Clutter Fix insightful. While none of the tips suggested were earth shattering or revolutionary, as many were common sense strategies, the step by step instructions and break down of ideas made each clutter removing task achievable.
The chapters on Clutter & Organizing Personalities were two of my favourites. Determining the "why" behind one collects clutter and understanding "how" to best organize based on who you are as an individual, are the foundation to successfully creating space physically and mentally. Shannon expertly guides readers as if she was standing next to them in their house or staring into the kitchen junk drawer. The multitude of templates and lists make fixing ones clutter a breeze!
Synopsis: “Clutter isn’t just about the stuff. It’s about how we feel in our homes and how we live out our lives. It’s mental and emotional, not just physical. It’s about being good stewards of the time and resources God has given us.” In The Clutter Fix, Shannon Acheson dives into decluttering. First she explores the “why” behind decluttering from a different perspective. Then she discusses the different types of organizers and organizing styles. And lastly, she gives practical step by step tips to declutter your entire house. If you’ve ever needed a simple guide for decluttering, this is the perfect place to start.
Analysis: As a planner and an organizer, I absolutely loved this book. It was easy to read and understand, conversational, and super practical! It breaks down every little step to decluttering. That said, to some, it may be a little repetitive. But if you like lists and step by step guides, this book is perfect for decluttering your entire house. It doesn’t feel overwhelming, and I loved that it focused on the purpose of decluttering from a faith perspective. I can’t wait to dive into actually following these steps soon!
Star Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
When I read that this book is a stress-free way to clean out, I instantly wanted to read it. I have read books and watched many YouTube videos, but I still have too much stuff. I have purged, kept things, felt guilty, and beat myself up when I can't let go of my collections. So I was ready for a stress-free solution.
With so many books on the market today about de-cluttering, why should you pick up this one? Well, for starters, the author uses Scripture to help keep you calm, but motivated to clean out your stuff. Secondly, she has a very good plan outlined to help you get to an organized house. Lastly, the reader need only follow the steps in each chapter to attain that goal.
Some of the titles you will read about include: Clutter Personalities, Organizing Personalities, How to Handle Sentimental Items, and A Step-by-Step De-cluttering Guide. I think the most useful portions are the Sentimental chapter, and the seven step process of de-cluttering.
I think many people who feel they have too much stuff will benefit from reading this book. I will definitely try many of her suggestions in my own home to see if I can create a less cluttered house.
