Spicy and sweet, exactly what I needed! The two leads have great chemistry and the sex scenes are incredible - I will be going back and reading all of Tara Wyatt's books!
this book had it all. it was sexy and hot and i wanted to read more. Glad there is more of them to read in this series. Oh yeah
Part of a series but can be read standalone. Felicity and Noah are hot!! They run into each other when she gets stuck in a elevator. Then the run into each other again and from there the story takes off. I really enjoyed this read and watching Noah struggle with his feelings. Great read!!!
The Prescotts has turned out to be a pretty food series for me. Like all series, the reader has favorite books (Love Bug) and less successful books. 𝗕𝗨𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗨𝗣 turned out to be right in the middle for me. It was a good read, just mot a great read.
Felicity is still reeling from her divorce and is looking to reenter the dating world when she wins a sexy firefighter at a charity auction. Felicity is sweet and kind, but I had a bit of a struggle with how unsure of herself she was. I get that there is some personal uncertainty after divorce, but it was a bit too much for me with this character.
Noah is giving and kind and takes care of everyone. His character conflict happened to be one that mildly grates on me: carrying misplaced guilt from something that happened 10 years ago that had nothing to do with him. This is a conflict that plenty of readers don't dislike so don't let it keep you from reading this book.
Felicity and Noah have great chemistry, insta-love, and lots of sex. They each also have meaningful friendships outside of their relationship (something I love in books). Their love story is heavy on steam and light on romance. If that's your thing, you will love this book!
This was a quick read with lots of spice. I liked how both characters were slightly older (mid 30’s) and already established. I would have liked to see more emotional growth from them since most of their interactions were “in the bedroom”. The ending felt rushed. I was glad to see that Felicity had come to the realization that her love was not the cure all but Noah’s realization was too pat.
I really enjoyed Noah and Felicity‘s story, from their stuck in the elevator meeting, to the bachelor auction, and finally practice dates turning real. It was a perfect romance read that that ticked all the boxes including some sizzling chemistry.
This was my first read in the Prescotts series and I would like to read more.
Really enjoyed reading Noah and Felicity's story. Noah is a hunky fireman who goes out of his way to help his Mom and brothers after the death of his father in 9/11. Felicity is divorce and unsure if she is ready for a relationship. Her friends end up helping her buy a day with Noah at a Auction for charity. They both go out and attend the date and the sparks fly but Noah does not feel he has the time to devote to a relationship due to his demons about helping everyone. Felicity is unsure if she is ready for a relationship due to her divorce and feeling as if she is not enough. Noah can't stay away and they slowly start to see each other. This is a hot paced read with lots of angst. Highly recommend. This book can be read as a stand alone.
Received this ARC from Netgalley for my honest review.
This story was good, the "steamy parts" came when I wanted them and I didn't feel like it took too long ... but they also didn't feel thrown in or rushed. Although I liked the story and characters I didn't feel there was anything special to it, it was a nice read but not memorable. I feel I've read stories close to it and found other characters a lot like these.
I received this arc for an honest review.
The story opens with Felicity getting stuck in an elevator and the school she works for calling the fire department. When arriving she meets Noah awkwardly when exiting the elevator. Since that meeting, they both have been thinking about each other but neither has a way to get in touch with the other.
Weeks go by and Noah is asked to stand in as a replacement for another firefighter who got sick for a charity auction. Meanwhile, Felicity happens to be at the same auction with her friends when she hears his name being called. After hearing about their meeting now begins to pool their money and of course win Noah for her. At least a date.
After their first date, they agree to go on another and see what happens from there. They of course begin to see more of each other and really become a couple. That is until one of his younger brothers is hurt in a motorcycle accident and he begins to blame himself. He also has issues from the past from when their father died on 9-11. This is really a very good story with really good characters and very much worth the read.
I’ve read a few books from this author and I absolutely loved all of them!!
Nearly two years after her divorce, Felicity Hawthorne thinks she is ready to date again. But then she wins a date with sexy, swoony firefighter Noah Prescott at a charity bachelor auction, and everything changes. FDNY captain Noah isn’t looking for a relationship. Since losing his father as a teenager, he’s spent the past twenty years shouldering heavy responsibilities, and he knows he doesn’t have the time or energy to be anyone’s boyfriend. Which is why Noah suggests Felicity practice her budding dating skills with him. But then dating practice turns into practice of another kind—the kind that involves moans and sighs and orgasms—and Noah knows he’s going to fall. Hard.
I loved this story!!! Soooo hot and sweet!! Felicity is adorable and it’s impossible not to fall in love with her, and Noah is not the exception. He is ultra-hot and cute, and sexy as hell. The chemistry is off the chart, but I also enjoyed spending time with them. The dialogs are deep and engaging and the side characters a nice touch. The way they open to each other’s fears is beautiful.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
So good!
After every Tara Wyatt book I think she cannot write anything bad.
I had this feeling again after reading this book.
This is the story of Felicity and Noah, as she learns to trust a new relationship after her divorce and he tries to keep his distance but also keep her close, knowing what an extraordinary chemistry they have.
There are 2 things that shone wonderfully in this book for me.
First is this sense of everyday life peppered with romance level encounters. The whole book is about normal people, going through normal things but it is woven so seamless, it all flows so beautifully. Next thing you know you rather skip sleep just to read one more chapter.
And then there's the intensity. Their encounters are absolutely sizzling, OMG! But it's also the intensity of feelings, all feels so vivid and raw and you just cannot help but root for the characters.
For no reason I felt so close to both of the main characters. While they may not necessary be my all time favorite hero and heroine, the writing is so well paced, so nicely organized and portioned it all sweeps you into the story. Loved reading this!
I received a copy of this in order to offer my view on it.
When perpetually single, rugged fireman Noah Prescott rescues teacher Felicity Hawthorne from a stuck elevator, there's a spark of attraction but neither think they are going to cross paths any time soon. But when divorced Felicity and her friends spot Noah during an eligible bachelor's fundraiser, her friends chip in and bid for a date with the hot firefighter. All for a good cause, right? And so begins the angsty wooing between the pair. The main problem - Noah is committed to his family and burdened by such a sense of obligation he has little time for romance. Felicity knows she deserves more, after being let down by her ex-husband. The question is whether these two can make it work.
This is book #6 of the Prescotts and I think I've missed a few in the middle and need to figure out which ones, as this book refers to siblings and cousins, assuming you've read the previous books. Where those details got a bit messy and interwoven, I skimmed past I'm afraid.
Noah was sexy and brooding, and then his personality takes a turn I wasn't expecting. I'm still not sure it suited him or whether it was the mix with him and Felicity that seemed a little off. The story just wasn't as smooth as I've found some of the other books in this series to be. The Prescotts all still intrigue me of course, and I'll definitely keep reading, but this one didn't quite reach the heights for me that I would have liked.
4.5-stars for Burning Up by Tara Wyatt
Tara Wyatt has done an awesome job with this series, The Prescotts; none of the books will disappoint and every single book of the series will have you hooked and wanting more. The author included a storyline that's 'Burning Up' as in hot, hot, hot yet also fun, mildy angsty yet romantic. Tara Wyatt somehow figured out how to balance it all and create one remarkable read! Plus, add in the fact that the H & h have incredible chemistry, with top notch banter and steam and Burning Up is one book you don't want to miss! Definitely Recommend Burning Up by Tara Wyatt!
While I did receive an advanced review copy, I am voluntarily leaving my own opinion with my unsolicited, voluntary review.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided to me. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book was sweet with low angst and a touch of spice.
Felicity has struggled to get back on her feet these past 18 months. Being single again and starting over is never very easy. But after getting stuck in an elevator and having a gorgeous man help her to safety…well, things change. Especially when she sees the same man up for auction.
Noah is a sweet, dirty-talking firefighter. He spreads himself so thin that he doesn’t think he has time for a relationship. Being that he was won in an auction by Felicity. He decides to help her get her groove back.
I have several problems with this book, but don’t worry…these problems are my problem and not everyone's situation. I didn’t care for the 90’s show Felicity and didn’t care for this character to be named that. Tara's script is one I am used to seeing in other books when there is a past part or inner dialogue, and my poor ADD brain was struggling.
I do wish this book had more banter and more angst. However, this book was still enjoyable. I haven’t read any of the other books in the series and can say you can still enjoy this book without reading the rest.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Since I'm a binge- reader I usually wait for the last book in a series to be nearly published so I can read them all in a row.
I did this with Tara Wyatt's Dallas Longhorn series and also now with the Prescotts.
Maybe it was because of this fact (the binge-reading, that is) that I didn't really enjoy this book quite as much.
It was highly repetitive (I know: once you've read one book in this trope you've practically read them all, but still...) -I even recognised the same expressions and sentences from previous books-, the ending seemed rushed and the story a bit forced.
Still it was ok for a Sunday afternoon.
Good book! This book was burning up my Kindle! It was hot hot hot! But it also had intrigue, Romance , heartache and heartbreak! But it was funny at times too! I definitely enjoyed reading this one! I highly recommend reading this book, if you're in the mood for romance and some hot steamy scenes this books for you!!! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
This is the first book that I read by Tara Wyatt and it is safe to say that it did not disappoint. If you love a story that is slightly angst but also fun and hot with characters that have some intense chemistry then this is absolutely the perfect book for you.
Felicity Hawthorne is a school teacher that hasn’t been on the dating scene for some time and is slightly reluctant to put herself out there again with the encouragement of her best friends (think Sex in the City friendships-loveable friends who have each other’s backs and yet also provide the readers with some comedic relief). Noah Prescott is a FDNY Captain who has distanced himself from being in a relationship until he finds himself being the prize at a charity auction. With the help from her meddling friends Felicity is given a chance for a date with the hot firefighter and maybe just a little something more.
Burning Up is a fun and quick read with some very enjoyable scenes with some guaranteed hotness. I really liked this story and look forward to reading the rest of the series.
A big thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review. 5 stars ⭐️
I’m a huge fan of the show, Chicago Fire and was excited to find a book based on a firefighter. This is the 6th book in the series and my first time reading this author.
A few chapters in, I was pulled in by the characters and the fire rescue scenes. I liked that the MCs were in their 30’s, divorced and didn’t have it altogether. I loved the chemistry between them too. There was steam and a little bit of angst/build up. Noah didn’t have possessive-man vibes which is nice. He was encouraging and kind to Felicity as well as thoughtful and caring. And Felicity was there for him when he needed to face his own shit and realize that nobody needed him to care of them. That caretaker/sacrificial part of him was a bit annoying to me.
It had all the bones of a captivating book, but somewhere along the way, it sizzled. It fell flat for me. Something was missing. The problems were solved a little too easily and quickly, maybe?
I almost didn’t stick with it several times but I finished. As much as I wanted to love it, I just don’t think this was for me.
Burning up is a good all round fairly short romance with a lot of heat in the explicit sex scenes.
Felicity has been divorced for 18 months after a bad marriage and is only now gaining the confidence to re start dating. A teacher in a high school she becomes trapped in one of the school lifts. Rescuing her is firefighter Noah of the NYFD. There is instant attraction and the relationship begins when Felicity makes a bid at a charity to have dinner with him.
Noah has major issues from a past event and puts himself out to help anyone who asks for his help to the detriment of his own life. This story takes us through their relationship and how they both strive to conquer their fears.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.
I received an ARC through Netgally. This book was very cute. The romance was refreshing since there wasn’t any “miscommunication” trope. I liked the main couple, and even though this is a series you can definitely read it as a standalone. I hadn’t read any of the previous book. My only complaints are that the stores wraps up really fast and just ends in a happily ever after. It seemed a little unrealistic how fast they went from the major argument/tension to the make up. But otherwise a very good book and I love the firefighter representation.
