Burning Up is the sixth book in The Prescotts series by Tara Wyatt. I have not read every book in the series, but I have not had any problems reading them as stand-alones. The author does an excellent job of including any history that is needed to follow the storyline. The NYFD team is charming, and I loved seeing the characters from previous books. The storyline was straightforward with low angst and the main characters were likable.
FDNY Captain Noah Prescott blames himself for his father’s death and as the oldest child, he assumed all the heavy responsibilities for his family. He is a helper and cannot turn anyone down when they need help. He realizes he doesn’t have the time or the ability to have a romantic relationship. Noah knows he should stay away from Felicity because he knows in the end, she will be hurt but he can’t ignore the connection between them.
Divorced for over a year, Felicity Hawthorne teaches high school English and after Noah and his team rescue her from a stuck elevator, she never expects to see the handsome firefighter again. Attending a charity auction with her friends sounded like fun except seeing Noah being bid on at the auction dimmed the evening until her friends help her win him. He was the perfect man to help her practice dating again, but she would rather date him.
This was a fun, entertaining, and easy-to-read book. The characters and the issues they faced were real-life which made them easy to connect with. I loved watching Felicity grow and become more confident in herself. She had spent years with a man who had never put her first, so she had to learn who she really was after her divorce. Noah was a wonderful guy but had no boundaries for his friends and family. He had to take a stand and do something for himself for once. They were a great couple and I look forward to seeing them again in future books. The next book is Hudson’s, and it looks like it will be just as good as this one.

Burning Up is a quick read, and we get to catch up with all the past characters. It does stand alone, but it is part of a fun series, and I recommend all the books.

Felicity loves her job as a teacher. It brings her so much joy when the rest of her life was crashing and burning. Her husband cheated on her and then divorced her. For the last 18 months Felicity has been trying to get her life back on track and try dating again. Fate is stepping in to give her a hand when she gets stuck in the elevator at school. She has to be rescued by the local fire department and meets the most handsome man she has ever seen. She feels an instant connection to him that she has never felt before. Noah is always doing everything he can to help people. It is his job as a firefighter and he is always helping his family and friends when called on. He gets called to help a woman who is stuck in an elevator and as soon as he sees her and helps her out he felt a connection to her. She is beautiful and something he would never pursue. His chief calls on him to fill in on a charity bachelor auction. Felicity ends up winning the bid to go on a date with him, thanks to her friends. The first date sets things in motion for both of them. Will they be able to accept what is happening or will things get derailed? Noah is a sweet, dirty-talking, firefighter that spreads himself too thin for the people he loves. Felicity is a naïve school teacher hesitant to start dating post divorce, doubting her self worth. The progression of their relationship was enjoyable, I did feel like Felicity was too immature at times, but Noah was always very understanding and reassuring. I would have liked to see more growth from both of them during the third act conflict. The ending felt rushed, and would have been more effective if either Noah or Felicity had taken steps to address their issues highlighted in their break out. Overall, Burning Up is a cute, low angst story with good spice. Fans of firefighters should pick this up.

This book was amazing! It was so descriptive that I felt like I could really immerse myself in the story. The storyline seemed to slow down for a chapter or two, but picked right back up!

Noah's life seems to be run by guilt. Everything he does to help his family and friends is so overwhelming. I'm surprised he didn't have ulcers. Felicity and Noah really were perfect together. I sighed a couple of times will reading, Burning Up. It's a great addition to the Prescotts series.
