A decent ending to Catalina's story. I liked how she developed over the trilogy, from a shy and nervous prime to someone more comfortable and capable in the realm of Primes. This book answers most of the questions reader's had, though I did think some of the reveals were a bit obvious. Overall, a satisfying ending with a book that features Catalina trying to stop an assassin and his organization while simultaneously trying to solve two seemingly unconnected mysteries, the murder of a member of the magical elite, and an attack on her mentor Linus.
Is this really the end of the Hidden Legacy series?!?! 😭😭😭
There was a lot going on in this installment, but unsurprisingly Ilona Andrews balanced everything really well and told a fantastic story. I could easily read 10 more books set in this world!
Catalina and Alessandro are truly a top tier couple and I just can’t get enough of them. All of the other characters add so much to this series as well. Definitely looking forward to rereading these books in a few years 💖
Lol, I can't believe I didn't review this immediately, because I sure read it immediately! I adored absolutely everything about this finale except that it set up so many more storylines that I need to read about asap!! Actually, my one complaint is that I wish there's been more romance in this one, but otherwise there was plenty of action, lots of hilarious family moments, and a really great resolution to the plot that's been continuing throughout the trilogy.
Ilona Andrews (husband and wife writing team. Ilona and Andrew Gordon) have created an amazing series. Ruby Fever is the sixth book in the Hidden Legacy series. The first three books in the series, as well as a novella, have been reviewed here. The titles are Burn for Me, White Hot, Wildfire and Diamond Fire. This trilogy and novella are Nevada Baylor and Connor Rogan's story. They meet under strange circumstances - Connor kidnaps Nevada.
Some background. The Hidden Legacy series is Urban Fantasy set in an alternate universe. Members of the families have received a special serum that gives them magic powers. Coming into these powers proves no easy task, and so we meet Nevada and her family.
Nevada is a private investigator and has been hired to bring a missing man back to his family. She has competition in the form of Connor "Mad" Rogan, who is also searching for the missing man, and he ultimately kidnaps Nevada. The pair soon decide to combine their energy and talents and work together to locate the missing man.
As I am not a frequent reader of urban fantasy, understanding this world that Andrews built took some doing. To basically understand it, there is a political system of sorts, or a dynasty, and this involves Houses, powers, levels and other things. It is after Nevada is kidnapped that she starts to understand her powers and special skills. Her talent is knowing when someone is lying, and this enhances her ability to achieve whatever task is in front of her. Meanwhile, she has started to fall for Connor, who is a Prime, the highest rank. In fact, his rank is so high that Nevada's talents do not work on him.
This urban fantasy develops an intense romantic entanglement between Nevada and Connor, and all the while the pair face danger at every turn. This trilogy closes with the novella, Diamond Fire, where Nevada and Conner get married. This is where Catalina takes over the series, this this series segues into another trilogy with accompanying novellas.
Catalina's story starts with the first book in the new trilogy which could be called Hidden Legacy Series 2, Sapphire Flames. The torch has been passed to Catalina, Nevada's younger sister. She has magic powers and unique skills, just like Nevada, and the family lives and operates among normal people in the alternate universe this series is set in. Catalina's rank is the highest, Prime, so she is the Head of her House. Her powers allow her to get any information that she seeks.
The third book in this trilogy is Emerald Blaze. Catalina has since met Allesandro, and their story is growing. Not only do the couple have amazing chemistry, they face danger at every turn, all while the action never once lets up.
This fabulous story had action from the very start, and never lost its momentum until the exciting conclusion. This series revolves around a crime syndicate, power, money and the paranormal
Many thanks to Avon and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
I always look forward to reading a new Ilona Andrews book or just one I haven’t had a chance to pick up because I know I am going to get an amazing story from this top notch writing duo and man, Ruby Fever did not disappoint me! The plots that they come up with just get me every time! They’re so intricate, intriguing, and have me coming back for more. I’m so in awe of the way they weave a story and I know I gush about their minds and all the remarkable plots they come up with in pretty much every review I write for one of their books, but I just can’t help it and I don’t think I’ll ever stop. They never fail to impress me and Ruby Fever was of course, no exception — I wholeheartedly loved it and it was the perfect way to end Catalina’s trilogy within the larger Hidden Legacy series!
Ruby Fever was so exciting, entertaining, and full of action, epic fight scenes, and just all around badsassery, I couldn’t get enough! I love seeing how far Catalina and Alessandro have come and how much they’ve both grown. They’ve really settled into their relationship and it’s like they’ve been together forever. I love them on their own and together. Ruby Fever was absolutely wonderful and I can’t wait to go on Arabella’s journey next!

It's Ilona Andrews. Of course it's getting 5 stars. The Hidden Legacy series has been one of my absolute favorites and this entry was no exception to the rule.
Ruby Fever is the sixth book of Ilona Andrews' Hidden Legacy series, and a strong conclusion Catalina Baylor's story. I've read all the Hidden Legacy books, and the beginning of this book was my favorite. The Baylor family is on the hunt for a new home, and the sibling banter is lovely as they go real estate hunting. It's a lovely way to introduce a new setting, reintroduce the characters, and set the stage for what's to come.
As with the first three books of the series, Ruby Fever is at its heart a romance novel. The relationship between Catalina and Alessandro Sagredo has been one of those tense ones where both she and he both had doubts they could make it work, and the outside world seemed destined to tear them apart. Ruby Fever starts with a proposal, but that doesn't stop another man from trying to claim Catalina, or another woman from declaring that Allessandro is hers - she paid his family for him.
That's only the romantic drama, though, in this high stakes fantasy series filled with powerful Prime families, magical battles in the streets, and secret alliances. As Catalina steps up as Acting Warden of Texas to investigate a high profile murder, her family is targeted by a team of killers. Meanwhile, a brand new magic spilling out of Catalina - one that wipes the mind of one of those killers. This new power is wild and dangerous, and Catalina grapples to control this new side of her magic. With her fiancé by her side, Catalina must prove she has what it takes to be the Warden by exposing a murderer.
Secrets come to light, pressure builds, and Catalina must protect her family while fighting for the man she loves. It's action-packed and thrilling. It's also feverishly hot - Catalina and Allessandro's relationship is sizzling. My only complaint was that, despite very real and believable threats, I never truly believed their relationship to be in danger. The book is still brilliant, and is a wonderful conclusion to Catalina's story.
I'm eagerly awaiting the next book, which should - if true to form - begin a trilogy featuring the youngest Baylor Prime, Arabella. Or should we expect number 6.5 as a novella? Whatever comes next, I'm ready for it.
Ruby Fever is the brilliant conclusion to Catalina and Alessandro's story arc. The Hidden Legacy series is one of my favorite urban fantasy romances and I'm sad to see it come to an end (really clinging to the possibility of Arabella's story in the future). Ilona Andrews is such a talented duo and they crafted this story perfectly.

Ruby Fever is a great story by one of my favorite team of authors. It is easy to recommend this book to many people. It is one of a series. It was a good real alone but I still recommend reading the series in order of publication.
I love how different they wrote the “traditional” siren (Catalina) and how they handled her magic. From the first “novella” (Diamond Fire) where you see her really start to use and figure out her magic to the end of her books where she is a master and can manipulate with barely a thought. I really enjoyed the family “secrets” and how they were dispersed but I did feel as if I was left needing more - it didn’t feel as if this was the end. Hopefully, we’ll see more in the future!
I needed this to not end. I need the third sister's book. This is a brilliant series and well-written, The complexity of the world-building shows that Andrews is a master of the Fantasy Urban genre. Sure it is a little cheesy but that is not a bad thing. This book series is a guilty pleasure and this one was a perfect ending to Catalina Baylor trilogy
Great conclusion to Catalina's story and a good addition to the series!! (and there was a hint of where the Arabella arc could go...I'd love to read that!!)
During the book, Catalina learns about her history and gains a new power. Lots of action and adventure (and danger and magic!). Alessandro and Catalina are a good pair; I enjoyed reading about them dealing with their personal issues and working together to get past them and grow their relationship. The read was very enteraining, as always there were a few scenes that made me laugh out loud.
Catalina is a complex and engaging protagonist, and watching her step up to the challenges she faces is truly satisfying. Alessandro Sagredo is equally fascinating, and the development of their relationship adds a touch of romance to the story. The secondary characters are also well-developed and play important roles in the plot.
Andrews' world-building is once again top-notch, with the setting of Houston and its surrounding areas brought to vivid life. The magic system is intricate and fascinating, and it's clear that the author has put a lot of thought into creating a unique and compelling universe for her characters to inhabit.
Fans of urban fantasy and paranormal romance will find much to enjoy in this action-packed and emotionally resonant novel. Highly recommended.
Ruby Fever is one of Ilona Andrews best books to date. I love the story of Cataline and Alessandro. The have such a wonderful relationship. I love how the characters grow and develop.
I love love love Ilona Andrews. One of my favorite authors, particularly this series. I love this conclusion to Catalina's trilogy and looking forward to another set! I want to see everyone in this family get their happily ever after.
I loved every single thing about this book and Ilona Andrews can do no wrong!! It was one of my most anticipated books and it did not disappoint. I hope they continue with this series!!
With Ruby Fever, Ilona Andrews finishes off Catalina’s arc with a bang. I love this series in general, and it’s so much fun to read each installment. The action was so well-written in this book, and I loved finding out more about various character’s backstories (some of the secrets revealed in this book are truly excellent!). Plus, that ending left me anxiously awaiting Arabella’s story, I can’t wait to see what’s next for her.
Good ending to Catalina’s trilogy. Things wrapped up fairly quickly, but by then there had been enough craziness to go around. Time to utterly finish the bad guys.
Ruby Fever (Hidden Legacy #6). By Ilona Andrews. 2022. Avon. (ARC eBook).
Ruby Fever wraps up Catalina and Alessandro’s story in the Hidden Legacy series. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Catalina and Alessandro are my favorite and Ruby Fever has all of the action, drama, and interesting magic that has been well-developed in the series as Alessandro and the Baylor family have their final showdown with Arkan.
Great ending for this trilogy, action packed with everyone getting a hand in it. I have no idea if there will be more in this world, but it'd be great to see. Either way, Ilona Andrews remains an auto-buy author for me!
