Anyone who knows me knows I am an Ilona Andrews fangirl. I will read anything they write. This husband and wife writing duo is at the very tip-top of myt fantasy genre pyramid and I can’t get enough. Ruby Fever, Hidden Legacy #6, was my most anticipated book of 2022. So when it hit my Kindle I pushed everything aside and sat down to read, starting right after work and staying up late to finish.
Catalina Baylor is head of House Baylor and Deputy to the Warden of Texas. When Ruby Fever starts out the Baylors have just moved into their new compound and Catalina has said yes to Alessandro’s proposal of marriage. It doesn’t take long for the action to pick up when the head of the Assembly is found murdered and then Catalina and Alessandro discover that Linus Duncan, the all-powerful Warden of Texas, has also been attacked. They need to figure out who is taking out the leaders of the magical community of Houston fast and without creating panic.
This book is non-stop action from beginning to end. There is SO MUCH going on and the Baylors will have to use every single ally they’ve amassed in the last five books to help them triumph over what is to come. Arkan is determined to finish what he started when he murdered Alessandro’s father, there is a mystery to solve, and with Nevada and Connor’s attention on another threat, they are going to have to do it without them. That’s not even mentioning the Imperial Russian Prince with mysterious motives and a giant spider lost somewhere on the compound.
I believe that even if this is truly the end of the Hidden Legacy series (still hoping Arabella will have her own trilogy) readers will be completely satisfied by this conclusion. Every question is answered. There are quite a few big moments and confessions, with all those plot threads left dangling in previous books coming together to finally provide needed closure. Catalina is a badass and her love for her family is absolute, even when it’s hard and she has reservations and residual anger over their past actions.
Catalina and Alessandro are a wonderful couple and I loved seeing them support each other time and again, even when the Sagredo family promises her finance to another family in marriage and she has to contend with that nonsense yet again. These two stick together no matter what and I adored the sweet and sexy scenes between them.
It must be said that it’s the secondary characters who really breathe life and sparkle into this series. The witty banter and heartfelt devotion to each other is without equal. I have fallen in love with all of them. (I do have a soft spot for Leon). It was really nice to see them get that HEA they deserve in the end. While the Baylors are the main focus of the series, so many people who started out as side characters have become integral to the continuation of House Baylor and their success, and are now more like family than just magical allies.
Ruby Fever is a fantastic addition to the Hidden Legacy series. This epic conclusion of Catalina Baylor’s trilogy will feature prominently on my favorites shelf and is sure to become a beloved comfort reread. There is a scene at the end, that gives me hope that we will see more of this family in the future. And maybe, just maybe, Arabella will find her HEA as well.
Final grade- A+

ARC received by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Do you ever read a book and it kind of feels like coming home? This is all of Ilona Andrews books for me. I love them all and they are something that even in my most depressed state I can pick up and finish. Maybe because I know there will be a happily ever after in the end so I can just have fun along the ride. I am not sure but either way this is now one of my favorite series from them. While I loved Nevada, Catalina and Alessandro were really the two that ended up stealing the show. I also loved how they tied up all the lose knots while still leaving a little left behind just in case they decide to write another series in this world. I can't get into much more without spoiler territory but what I can say is that if you enjoyed the rest in this series you will especially love this book.

Ilona Andrews’ books are an auto-buy for me so I’m thrilled that I was able to read Ruby Fever early! This is an incredibly satisfying conclusion to Catalina’s story arc.
You get:
Fast-paced writing
More information about the office of the Warden
Cinematic battle scenes
Checkins with House Baylor family, friends, and allies
Swoony exchanges between Catalina and Alessandro
Lots of witty banter
Family secrets revealed - so many revelations
Multiple happy endings
This is what Ilona Andrews does best - creating well-written characters who you fall in love with and are seriously rooting for, puts them through an intense grinder but then makes it all worthwhile.
This book was incredible; I read it in one sitting because I could NOT put it down.

This is a great conclusion to Catalina's trilogy! The action is nonstop, but Ilona Andrews still makes time to develop the characters and progress the storyline. The world building in this series is second to none, I can't wait for the next entry.

Incredible! When I was notified that I got approved to read this ARC, I literally screamed. Ruby Fever has been dated, recorded, and talked about A LOT by me as one of my most anticipated book of 2022. I have followed Ilona Andrew’s blog religiously to quenched my thirst for this finale. All I can say is that this book is amazing. Ruby Fever was like a rollercoaster - cool action sequences to bombshell reveals. Ilona Andrews did not hold back any punches. Everything we “hoarde” have theorizing and speculated are answered like firecrackers – multiple explosions. There were tons of Easter eggs that I thought were quite clever and I had to re-read the book twice just to make the connections. Gods of foreshadowing in the most refined but glaring way. Of course it would not be an Ilona Andrew book without all the witty bantering, comically scenes, and touching family moments. Without a doubt, Ruby Fever is the sensational conclusion to an amazing trilogy. Worth the wait! I am truly honor to have gotten the opportunity to read this book early.
SPOILERS BELOW - I had to delete some due to major spoilers
First off, I typically revisit certain scenes in books because 1. It was well-written, 2. It made me laugh, or 3. It made me cry. When I finished Ruby Fever in a day, I started to go back to find scenes that I just had to talk about in this review. I ended up re-reading the whole book because it was ALL GOLD. There was not one scene in the book that was filler. EVERYTHING was important and meant something later in the book. I remember when Ilona stressed about writing this book and I can tell they pulled it off AMAZINGLY! Hats off, I bow their genius storytelling.
The ending after the epilogue was such a sweet gesture. During the first dance of Bern and Runa’s wedding, Alessandro asks Catalina to go away with him on a trip to Europe. This parallel to the ending of Nevada’s story was beautiful.
What more can I say if not I am VERY VERY thankful and humble to be approved to read this novel. It has been an amazing experience beyond EPIC proportions and I cannot wait to RAVE about this book when it comes out..
Thank you Netgalley for providing this ARC for an honest review
PUBLISHER NOTE: I am not sure if this is because it is an ARC but there was a spot in the story that threw me off because there was nothing that showed a transition in scene. Location 5034/5511 - "Darkness spiraled out of the alcove hind the Keeper, drowning the room.".... [ THERE SHOULD be a PAGE break or line to show scene ended ] "Don't move," I muttered (totally got confused and thought a whole section got edited out until I realized the scene changed.

I have been impatiently waiting for this book since last year and it did not disappoint! This was everything you could ask for in finale. In this book we see Catalina and Alessandro work together with her family to try and solve the mystery surrounding the attacks of prominent figures in the assembly as the situation with Arkan comes to a head. Loved that we got to see all of the characters we love together, the action was non stop, and the backstory reveals were jaw dropping! It was also cool to see powers evolve and new ones introduced. I will definitely be re-reading this on the release date. Fingers crossed we get Arabella's story next!

So thrilled to be back into the world of House Baylor. This is Catalina’s book and it is a page turner, non-stop action. This is a “read it in one sitting” book and as strong an entry into the series as any. There are literally no dull moments as our beleaguered House goes from one threat to another. Secrets revealed and plots wrapped in satisfying ways. Ilona and Gordon have succeeded in crafting a true action/fantasy/romance. Just wonderful. Strap in, it’s a wild ride.

Review #RubyFever #NetGalley
First, thank you to the publishers, AVON and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC. Literally, I could not put this book down.
I do not want to put any spoilers here. Get ready fans of Ilona and Gordon Andrews for an amazing ride. I really need to go back and re-read this again to take in all the details included. All the favorite Hidden Legacy characters are there with the additional background to help understand their magic and motivations. I will probably add more to this review once the book has been released. I will be rereading the whole series this summer in celebration of the conclusion of Catalina and Alessandro's story.
Thank you, Ilona and Gordon, for sticking it out and delivering another great book for you BDH fans to enjoy.

If you are a fan of Ilona Andrews and have read previous installments of the Hidden Legacy series, Ruby Fever, which completes Catalina Baylor's trilogy will not disappoint. The first half of the book is an intense, action filled climb that plunges breathlessly to a satisfying conclusion. There a few surprises, some reunions, opportunities for redemption and some very hot Russians! While I believe this may be the last planned Hidden Legacy novel, the way is left open for stories to continue if the authors choose to do so. For those clamboring for an Arabella and Michael pairing, let the shipping begin!
Highly recommended.

Ilona Andrews faced a daunting task - produce a finale to Catalina’s trilogy that would meet the expectations of their highly devoted fan base. In Ruby Fever, Catalina and Alessandro face their greatest challenge yet, with the conflict that has been building for years finally coming to a head. Andrews manages to weave together plot lines from throughout the Hidden Legacy series in a clever and surprising way that avoids being contrived and should satisfy even the pickiest of their readers. Favorite characters grow and come into their own, lingering questions are answered, and hints of future directions for the family will keep the fan base clamoring for the start of Arabella’s stories. Overall, a deeply satisfying end to Catalina’s trilogy.

An attack on the invincible Warden of Texas, Catalina’s boss leaves her as Acting Warden with the attack and a connected murder to investigate. Plus her fiancé Alessandro Sagredo's family is interfering. Catalina Baylor will need all the resources and family members she has to find out what's going on and to protect the ones she loves...
Why I started this book: Requested the ARC from Netgalley and started it the minute I downloaded it. Andrews is an immediate and automatic buy for me, and has been for years... and I've been waiting so impatiently for this book.
Why I finished it: Worth the wait! Catalina and Alessandro are a solid couple, and a I cheered at various points through out the book as they reacted and supported each other. More Baylor family quips and awesome magical battles... Warden trouble, a valuable escapes spider and a new family compound. What fun! And also, I need to reread the whole series. Because the epilogue dangled one thread, on simple little thread... and now I need even more. The Book Devouring Horde is never satisfied.
