As a massive Scarlett St. Clair fan I was so excited to read When Stars Come Out.

This story had all of the things I have come to love from Scarlett's writing.
- captivating characters
- the perfect balance of romance and drama that helps drive the plot forward at a good pace
- creative twists scattered throughout

Overall, a wonderful YA read that was gripping throughout, and has me desperate for the next installment,

📚Book Review📚

This one is not my typical genre (I’m more of a spicy gal), but I saw it was from Scarlett St. Clair and I just had to!

The concept of this book was so interesting. Anora is going through a difficult time with loss and coming into these powers she’s not familiar with. As well, she’s dealing with relationships, moving to a new school, new love interest and everything she knows has changed.

I love the way she processes things and stays strong and true to herself. This book is a little dark just with her powers being centred around the dead, but it does a good job building up the characters.

Would reccomend! It’s a YA, but a great read. I was invested and I can’t wait to see what’s next. I received this as an ARC for an honest review.

0/5🌶 for the YA fans

Thank you to Net Galley and Source BooksBloom Books for the Arc of this re-release.

This story follows a girl named Anora who starts over at a new school and tries to keep her ability to see ghost a secret. In addition to her powers of seeing spirits, she can trap ghosts into coins. She finds herself on a hunt to uncover who stole her coin before more students go missing.

I was so excited to get to read one of Scarlett St. Clair’s novels. I enjoyed the take on a young adult fantasy inspired by mythology. This story would be highly recommended to older teens and adults who love fantasy and paranormal themes.

5/5 Stars!

I really enjoyed this book! I love anything to do with Greek mythology and definitely enjoyed the modern twist on it. If I had to sum up this book in one word, it would be fun. I just had such a good time reading this and it was fast-paced, action-packed, and entertaining.
This book totally made me feel nostalgic for old school ya urban fantasy and it just gave me all the good feelings!

It was a unique take on Orpheus and Eurydice myth retelling as YA fantasy!

I read Scarlett St. Clair's Touch of Darkness series, and I love how she creates her own spin in greek myth so when I heard about When Stars Come Out, I run to read it. It was great! I love the magic system and somewhat dark academia feels, reminds me of Shadowhunter, Beautiful Creatures, and Fallen.

I love Anora's power! Seeing ghosts, creating deathly threads to turn people souls into coin, and of course I love personal hellish guard dogs. For me her character development seems a little slow, although her confusion could be understood because poor girl suddenly thrust into a whole mess. Still, I hope to see her growing and have stronger personality in the next book!
Shy is typical YA hero, as in broody dark mysterious kind, and I'm pretty intrigued by him. Thane was also as intriguing, and I was a little disappointed we didn't get more of his backstory. The romance was fine, but for me it's just a little too fast (maybe I'm just a fan of slow sloooww burn haha).

Overall, it was a great dark fantasy, dark academia YA!
Recommended for those who love all the series I mentioned above :)

This book was great! Had a different storyline, was action packed. The queen Scarlett does it again with putting a more modern touch on Greek mythology and young adult audience. I throughly enjoyed it, even if it was her normal “steamy” writing it had an enticing storyline

When stars come out is a great concept. The characters are likable and the mystery captivates you. This is the first book in the series which builds the world and locks in the magically elements.
I kept feeling like there wasn't enough pages left to figure everything out and I'm glad that book two is in the works.
I enjoyed this urban fantasy which is outside my normal go to. Scarlett has a way of writing that keeps your attention.
I look forward to book two to see where this forbidden love takes us.

This book is totally unique! It involves a high school girl who is starting fresh at a new school only that that is quite hard for her to do as she can see ghosts/souls and has an unique power with them. This is the first in a series and I am already READY for book 2

When stars come out by: Scarlett st. Claire
5/5⭐️

Ya, paranormal, urban fantasy.

Anora can see dead people. She’s starting at a new school and is doing her best to pretend that everything it normal. When she accidentally captures a soul at her new school, she becomes a target.

The love interest is meh. I think he’ll get better though.

The plot had some good twists and turns.

When stars come out releases July 26th. Preorder your copy now!

Thank you to Bloomsbury publishing and the author for this arc!

This was an unique read as the story was a bit different that I have ever read. It involves a high school girl who is starting fresh at a new school only that that is quite hard for her to do as she can see ghosts/souls and has an unique power with them. However, it turns out she is very much not alone in in this as there are many other people and creatures who can to. This first book of the series will definitely keep your mind on its toes.

Anora Silby lives a regular teenage life, just like anyone else her age. She fights with her mom, she has a crush on the boy at her new school, and she can see the dead. Totally normal right? Anora must navigate through her new power all while dismissing the suspicions of her new classmates, her mother, and Shy, her crush.

This was my first Scarlett St. Clair book and I was not disappointed, This was your classic urban fantasy, high-school romance that we all devour. At points the book did slow down and feel a bit repetitive, but I found myself wanting to come back and finish every chapter. Perfect for fans of Jennifer L. Armentrout or fans of the genre in general.

This book deals with a lot of heavy topics, so make sure to check the trigger warnings before reading.

Thanks to NetGalley and SourveBooks Bloom Books for the ARC!

* I received this book as an ARC from Netgalley *
I don't know what I was expecting from Scarlett St. Clair, but I was pleasantly surprised by the mix of dark mystery, fated romance, and YA level demon-fighting that I found in When Stars Come Out. It has much darker themes than many YA books that I've read, but also constructs an interesting monster-fighting world that is reminiscent of Cassandra Clare, though certainly spookier, in my opinion.
I'm not sure if this is planned as a series, but I would absolutely read more of these, as there is still so much to explore.
That being said, my only critique of this book is that the ending felt very rushed. Assuming there are more books planned, I think some of this pacing makes sense, and I truly did enjoy the book otherwise.

Thank you SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books & Netgalley for giving me this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I love Scarlett St. Clair and will literally read anything written by her. I’m not a huge YA fan, it’s just something I don’t gravitate towards but with that being said I loved this book! The story was so different to me that I was instantly hooked when I started reading this! I really hope that she considers adding to this series bc I would seriously love to see what would happen next !! Highly recommend if you like dark academia!

Anytime I see a Scarlett St. Claire book I always read it. This one did not disappoint. From the first chapter I was hooked and could not put it down. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a unique fantasy book. I read this in one day and then bought the next book to continue this story.

This was a fantastic YA story! Reminded me a bit of Cursed by Jennifer L Armentrout.

Anora Silby just wants to start afresh and be a normal teenager when she and her mother move to Oklahoma. Only that's a bit hard to do when Anora can see the dead.

Shy Savior has dreams of climbing ladder of the organisation he works for, but when a new girl arrives in town who he is inexplicable drawn to, and who can clearly see the dead, things get complicated quickly.

I really enjoyed this one and I hope there will be more. I liked how Anora stuck to her morals and questioned everything, no matter who was saying it. And I like how Shy started to question the organisation too.

I received a digital copy of When the Stars Come Out via NetGalley to read and review.

Anora is not a typical teenager- she can see the dead. To make things worse she tries to tell her mother but her mother threatens to have Anora institutionalized.

Needing a fresh start Anora and her mother move from New York to Oklahoma. Anora starts a new school where she learns she’s not the only one aware of the dead. As much as she wants to please her mom and act “normal” Anora and this new knowledge about herself and some classmates make that very difficult to achieve.

This is a first in a series so there’s a bit to learn about this world in our world which is needed or I would’ve been lost. I can say I binged this as much as I could and look forward to book 2.

First off, Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC & thanks to Scarlett St. Clair & her team.

This book was quite a ride, the world is modern with a bit of magic & I really enjoyed that.
Anora can see the DEAD. She also can turn them into gold coins which is part of what makes her so special. This story follows her attempt at living a normal life but realizing that isn't an option for her. Don't get it twisted though, she isn't afraid to stand up for herself & you quickly see how loyal and caring she is. Shy, Natalie and Jacobi are well written relatable characters which is why I enjoyed reading about them. The last couple hundred pages were super fast paced and full of action and I loved it!

My main issue with this book was that I felt that some information that was repetitive and I feel like it could have been a bit shorter. This lead to me being bored and skimming some parts in a few chapters. I also want to see much more character development from the other characters but granted this is only the first book. Either way I am very eager to continue this series and see where this world takes me.

At first I was struggling with this book because I wasn’t loving it but I was really interested. I liked this book from the start, but I just wasn’t loving it. However towards to middle I did start to enjoy it more. It was a bit confusing at times, as there’s a lot of information and I feel like it wasn’t always explained very well. So even though I’ve finished the book, there’s still some parts that I’m a bit confused about. I did like the storyline overall. It was interesting and hard to guess what was going to happen. It was very quick and easy to read and enjoyable so I am glad that I read it, I just didn’t love it as much as I was hoping to. The characters were very likeable and I think they’re what kept me intrigued. Not my favourite book by Scarlett St Clair however I will still be recommending it, and I can’t wait to read more from this author in the future.

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review ***

I was so excited to read this book as it's a retelling of a classic myth. I appreciated the modern take on the story, and it was paced very nicely. There were some parts that seemed to drag on, but that was because there was otherwise constant action, or SOMETHING happening, so when there wasn't it seemed slow, when it really wasn't.
I also liked the subtleness of the author giving readers the message that if they need help, they shouldn't be afraid to go and get it. It was a very inspiring portion of the story for sure.
