What a beautiful story about Marina, a young woman who returns to her family villa in Spain for the first time in 20 years, after a tragedy prevented her from returning. She finds that the home has been rented by a small group of Spanish men who become her friends. The journey of discovery by Marina is a heart warming story which I devoured in just a couple of days.
A perfect summer holiday read which is set in Spain. Brilliant writing style, good storyline and a lovely location .
An easy read which is highly recommended by me, I couldn’t put it down , I really enjoyed it
Thanks to Netgalley, head of Zeus and Cherry Redford for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review
What's not to love about The Spanish Cove? The setting is stunning - well, initially maybe the access to the house is a little difficult, but when the solution is to travel into the cove by boat, then wow, that's pretty cool (when the sea is calm, of course). This book brings the area alive and Casa Palmito is a place where you can be free of those everyday pressures and be at one with the ocean and the beach. Conflict comes in the form of dealing with the past and getting on with the future, which selling the house - something not everyone is happy about.
With interesting characters, a family secret (who was the mystery woman), plenty of romance, and new friendships to be made, this book offers escapism with a difference - and I'm not just talking turtles ;)
The main character, Marina, arrives almost under duress, not wanting to return to the place that held such bad memories for her, yet over time everything she thought she knew about her past is turned on its head. For her, and others (Matí, primarily) this supposedly last trip to sell the house becomes something much more important, confirming the old adage that if you love the job you do, you'll never work a day in your life.
A story about reflection and coming to terms with your past but with an eye on the future and proof that happiness can be found when and where you least expect it.
Stunning holiday romance that makes you feel the warm Spanish sun on your skin. It is a lovely book to throw in your suit case with your sun block and sunglasses, a fun holiday read.
Juliana works as a supporting artist in London. One day, she received a mail from her uncle Arturo who offers to bequeath his house in San Rafel to Juliana on her fulfilment of 10 conditions within 90 days. Juliana accepts the offer and travels to Spain, even though she finds the conditions odd but not difficult to fulfil. At San Rafel, she encounters a goat and a not so friendly Josemi and his mother. More surprises are in store for Juliana as she tries to find out more about her mother and her bond with Josemi gets stronger. Juliana rediscovers herself and discovers new friends, love and purpose.
I loved how the author used some of her personal experiences to shape the book. I also loved the author’s description of the places mentioned in the book. I have always been fascinated by Spain. I felt like going on a backpacking trip across the beautiful Andalusian terrain. I found the relationship between Juliana and Josemi shallow with a lack of chemistry between them. I also found Juliana’s relationship with the other characters flat. And I was left to make a lot of connections between scenes as a lot was left unsaid or expected to be assumed by the reader.
Inspite of the misgivings, I enjoyed reading the book because of the descriptive writing of the Spanish landscape. I will recommend this book for anyone looking for a summer read set in Spain.
The Spanish Cove was an interesting read that kept me engaged. I hadn't read the previous novel but it didn't really matter as the story stands alone. Beautiful descriptions of Spain. I enjoyed this book
This book is a perfect vacation read! The characters are loveable and scenery made this an easy read. Highly recommend!
Thank you to NetGalley for an eARC of The Spanish Cove. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, which is a continuation of Cherry Radford’s Spanish series. The plot kept my attention, and I liked the characters — especially the main character Marina. I loved The Spanish House (a five star read in my opinion) and kept comparing The Spanish Cove to it. Redford does an amazing job describing the beauty of Spain and the warmth of its people. I can’t wait to read The Spanish Garden.
Lovely book to read. The idyllic setting definitely helped Lovely plot to keep you interested. The book was very well written
The Spanish Cove by Cherry Radford is another lovely book set in Spain. Reading this book is like going on a vacation in beautiful Spain. The story is set on a cove set amongst many small beaches and coves. The road to the cove is blocked so the only way to the cove is by boat. Marina and Polly head to Spain to prepare the home Marina's family owns on the cove to sell it. Marina has not been back to Spain since the tragic death of her father. Upon their arrival, the two find that there are three men already staying there. Due to some miscommunication, the men have rented the house for the summer. The five of them work begrudgingly a plan so they can all stay in the house. Marina works through her grief to sort through the personal items that remain in the house and lead to some questions about her father. This is a perfect book to read to escape to feel like you are on vacation in Spain. The beautiful setting is woven throughout the book. I love how Cherry Radford includes a playlist to go along with her book, too! Thank you to NetGalley and Bloomsbury Publishing for the opportunity to read the ARC of this book.
Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.
Marina’s mother has offered to buy her a house. However, in order for this to happen the family Spanish holiday home needs to be sold. Marina hasn’t been back since a tragic accident killed her father. When Marina and her friend Polly arrive, the house is rented out to three young men, they decide to share the villa and Marina sets about getting the house ready for sale. On sorting the house out she finds out the truth about her fathers accident and falls in love with both the villa and one of the young men staying in the villa.
A good summer read.
This was an enjoyable book where it had a bit of mystery about and of course romance some sad bits.
Marina is a piano teacher and her Mother asks her to go to the house in Spain to sort it out which the family haven’t been there for 20 years since Marina’s Father died tragically. Marina and her friend Polly go together, they end up sharing the house with Mati and his friends who are holiday makers there. Over the weeks we see what Marina goes through with all the memories.
The book certainly was well written and thought the characters all gelled together and I really liked the ending which was lovely.
I would recommend this book.
Eh this wasn’t terrible but it also wasn’t good. The story was muddied by too many characters and plot lines. Not much romance. The music referenced was definitely not my taste.
Marina returns to Spain 20 years after her father’s tragic death to sell the family vacation home. She drags along her BFF, Polly for emotional support and ends up having the vacation of a lifetime, allowing her to replace sad memories with happy ones.
This book is well written with great imagery and a charming love story. It makes me want to travel to southern Spain and find a private cove of my own!
Thank you to NetGalley and Head of Zeus, Aria for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
Cherry Radford does it again, her ability to transport me to the sun drenched Spanish coast is amazing. This read was emotional but full of heart and simply lovely. I steer clear of love triangles, however, this was done well.
This book is the third in a series, but it can be read as a standalone novel. The location is the same, and a few of the previous characters from the first books pop up from time to time.
Marina is visiting Spain to pack up her family's Villa in order to sell it. The visit is very emotional for her as she remembers her Father's death, but also how much she used to love it there.
The descriptions in this book are very good, I could picture the location perfectly. It is a lovely escapism. I enjoyed reading this book. It is a heartwarming read, perfect for holiday reading.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC.
Another perfect sunny holiday read from Cherry Radford who manages to transport one to Spain so effortlessly. This is the third book I've read by Cherry set on the unspoilt Andalusian coast and I think the best so far. I liked the way that there was a brief tie in with the previous two books but only in location and a fleeting mention of other characters involved before making this a totally stand alone book. The descriptions overall were brilliant both in the area and characters with a perfect mix of slow burn romance against a summer background of fun, music and friendships.
Travelling to Spain is just what Marina needs, to heal and plan for the future. Marina takes time out to reminisce, as she prepares the family villa for sale.
The beauty of Spain, together with the emotional journey of the main characters, makes a perfect holiday read! Marina is ready to move forward, it’s a joy to see her confidence develop, along with her dreams.
I loved the feeling of being on holiday, it’s a delight to ‘travel’ to Spain!
Thank you to the publisher, NetGalley and Cherry Radford for the opportunity to read this wonderful escapist gem.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
An amazing summer read that touches on characters met previously in her earlier book The Spanish House, although there is no need to have read that to enjoy this one.
I loved the description of the area & will definitely visit there as it sounds beautiful. Iconsumed this book in one sitting.
The story of Marina and Mati. Marina has not been back to this part of Spain since her father died there years ago, and now she is back to sell the house. She meets Mati, who loves the area and wants to help her fall back in love with it. Do they have a chance together? A great read, although emotional at times.
