Lily and Lo, Lo and Lily. This couple will forever be one of my favorite couples for good a reason!
Something about Lily and Lo feels so real that not all books have. The issues that they are facing are really heavy. We are dealing with Lily who is a sex addicted and Loren who is an alcoholic, who are fake dating to hide their addictions for their families, so how can it not be heavy. When you are reading their story, you want them to succeed more than anything. That when they don't, it almost feels personal. Lily and Loren are learning along the way that they have feelings for each other, so the fake dating becomes real dating, but unfortunately the addiction is still there. Lily and Lo want to be the best versions of themself for each other, and that is a long journey that they are both willing to take. For themselves and each other. They have a good amount of people around them who are willing to help them, but Lily and Loren are struggling with being honest to them when all they did was lie before.
I love these characters with all my heart, nothing in my eyes will ever compete with this world. The authors did an amazing job by making them feel as real possible. Addicted to you will be publicist with Berkley soon and in it this version there is a bonus soon from Loren's POV (the whole book is written in Lily's POV) and this POV was everything. Reading the situation from Loren's POV hurt even more than it did from Lily's POV. But this book doesn't only contain a bonus scene from Loren's POV but also a little surprise that I haven't seen the authors do before, but it was a very, very good surprise!
Overall, this is easy a 5-star read!
Thank you NetGalley for the arc exchanged for an honest review!
This was such a good reread for me. This series always hits me right in the feels, and this book is no different. Lo and Lily are such raw, real, characters, and their emotions always seem to bleed right onto the page. I love these books and I can't wait to continue my reread of the saga by diving into Ricochet next!
This book dealt with such real problems. As hard as they can be to read about to those who might be going through a similar struggle to you, I find the realism refreshing. Obviously fiction is just that, fiction. But when it is nitty gritty type of real world problems instead of a polished version of people and events, it makes it so much more interesting to read! I love that about this book so much.
Addicted to You is a story that is just that- addictive. I can’t imagine finishing this book and not needing to dive right into the next. I can’t believe that I’ve waited this long to read this series, but I’m kind of glad I did. I can binge read them all now.
Lily and Lo are childhood friends and a couple as far as everyone knows. In reality, they’re both addicts. Lo is an alcoholic and Lily is a sex addict. They both come from rich, affluential families and if their families ever found out, it would be bad. So they pretend. They pretend to be a couple, pretend to be together to take the heat off one another. In reality, they are best friends and enablers for each others addictions. They are always there for each other and always have each other’s backs. Even if their relationship isn’t the healthiest, you can tell their friendship is real and so it the love between them.
After carrying on this charade for years, something happens between this couple. They both come to realize their feelings are stronger than just friendship. They love each other as more than friends. Even with their addictions, they want to try. Try to turn what first started as a façade into something real. Become a real couple. Maybe Lo can drink less and maybe Lily can control her addiction to being only with Lo. Just maybe they can do this together…
Both of these characters are destructive, damaged and flawed. And I loved them both. Lo is such a fantastic guy- he had so many issues of his own but he loves Lily fiercely and wants her to be his. I adored him. I also loved all of the secondary characters- Ryke, Connor, even Rose by the end. I can’t wait to read more about them and I’m happy to know they’ll be getting their own books!
This story had such a unique plot. I loved that even though both of the main characters fed their addictions, they really did care about one another and honestly cared more about helping the others than helping themselves. By the end they learned sometimes you have to help yourself first before you can help the person you love. I have a feeling in Ricochet they will both face many challenges but I hope that their love will endure and pull them through battling their demons. The writing style was perfect- I couldn’t believe that this was written by two people, it had such a great flow. Addicted to You is the start of an intense, emotional, edgy and addictive series that you won’t want to miss out on!
This series is my all time favorite series EVER. It was so great to be able to go back and reread Lily & Lo’s love story from the very beginning. The bonus chapters made my heart so happy and I am so grateful to have been able to get an arc of this masterpiece.
Addicted to You had an interesting story that I haven't seen in any other books. It's an emotional book that will pull at your heartstrings. I loved all the side characters & I can't wait to read their stories. I appreciated that both addictions were treated the same & one wasn't made out to be worse than the other. I'm glad I stuck with it.
I read this book a while ago and completely fell in love, so when I heard this new version would have bonus scenes I was so excited to get my hands on it.
Rereading this book made me fall even more in love with these characters and their story. I can’t wait to binge the rest of the series.
I’m a big time fan of this series and binge read this before it blew up on the tiktok. So I hold a special place for these characters and it a pure joy to re-read about them and get those bonus scenes!!
Lily and Loren hale definitely seems to hold the key to my heart. Revisiting them and reading the bonus scenes felt like a cherry on top. It is easily my top tier read for the month.
Thank you NetGalley, Berkley Publishing, and the authors for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I really enjoyed this book and the series is definitely my new guilty-pleasure. It’s not the best book, but it’s super entertaining and has complex characters and a fascinating storyline. I wasn’t a fan of either of the main characters, but I still really enjoyed seeing how the story progressed. I really liked the side characters though and I’m excited to see more of Rose and Daisy! I picked up book two straight after finishing this one and I highly recommend for everyone to read this one. It reminds me of the Off-Campus series because I became really invested in it as well and it also features college students and romance.
Thank you NetGalley and Berkeley for this e-ARC. I was given this ARC in return for an honest review.
Wow, just wow. It’s been a very long time since I’ve read a book that I had to put down and come back to because of being emotionally… overtaken? This book hit home for me in a lot of ways but it was written so well that I felt like I was a part of it.
Lily Calloway is a sex addict. Loren Hale is an alcoholic. Together they feel as though they can hide their addictions from those who matter and everything will be okay. But will it? Will they conquer their addictions or will their addictions conquer them.
This is a tough read. If you have emotional triggers for sexual addiction or alcoholism, it might not be for you as it digs it’s claws in deep. But I would recommend this book to anyone because I was immersed in this world so quickly.
10/10 would read again.
Addicted To You took me by surprise as it wasn’t what I was expecting. The story was different and intriguing and took me in a roller coaster of emotions. The plot was different and intriguing, the background stories and all the characters that was introduced drew me in and made me want to read more. Lily and Lo just have the special connection that you know will last. The fact that even though both of the main characters fed their addictions, they did really care about one another and others more than caring for themselves. But by the end they learned sometimes you have to help yourself first before you can help the person you love, and I know that will be explored more in the second book, which I am looking forward too. I hope they can get over their demons alone but also with the help of each other. The writing style was great, you couldn’t even tell it was written by two people, it had such a great flow. Addicted to You is the start of an intense, emotional, edgy and addictive series that you won't want to miss out on!
I loved the extra bonus content in this edition. Thank you Berkeley Romance for the ARC
I originally read Addicted to You back in 2016. I wasn't sure what to expect when I decided to read it. I knew it was a series that had been highly recommended, but I didn't have any idea how obsessed I was going to become with the characters and their stories. Addicted to You started me on a series binge read that I couldn't have stopped even if I wanted to. I had to know more about Lily, Lo, and the people who surrounded them. When I heard the Ritchie twins were going to be releasing this book with extended bonus material through Berkley, I knew I had to read it. Rereading this book wouldn't be a chore, and I couldn't walk away from the chance to read more about some of my favorite characters ever. Below is my original review updated with more thoughts on this cherished romance and the new material.
Addicted to You is the story of wealthy best friends, Lily and Lo. Lo is an alcoholic. Lily is a sex addict. Their sham of a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship hides their addictions from their families and the world. The longer they pretend be with each other, the more they begin to crave a reality where their relationship is real. But a real relationship might just create more problems than it solves.
This book was like watching a train wreck. A second time reading it didn't make it any less hard to digest. It was so ugly and messed up, but I still couldn't take my eyes away from it. It stressed me out and put me on edge, but I couldn't put it down. I loved Lily and Lo too damn much. They were extremely flawed, but so real and honest. Their addictions were heartbreaking. I worried about them constantly. I wanted to know they were going to make it through, that they would be alright. I wanted to see a future for them -- together -- where their addictions didn't rule them.
I was totally addicted to the Addicted series the first time I read it and that hasn't change with a reread. I couldn't put it down. I binge read it this time in day. I'm just as emotionally connected to it now as I was the first time through. I had the biggest book hangover the first time and it's going to be the same this time around. I love Lo and Lily. I love their friends and family. I may know happen to them all in the end this time, but it doesn't make it any less special. This is a book and series I would highly recommend to new adult romance readers.
But wait! Fans of the series are going to want to know about that bonus content I mentioned being included. To be honest, there's not a lot of it. There's one chapter that is a retelling from Lo's POV. It was impactful. There was a bonus playlist -- honestly not something I'm big into but fans will probably enjoy. Last, there were some text exchanges from Lo and Lilly. I want to say I loved these, but I couldn't tell you because my ARC only had one side of the conversation. Sometimes Lily would come through, sometimes Lo. The other person's reply would be blank. That's all of the bonus content. It was fun.
Addicted To You was a book that pulled me right in! I’m not usually a fan of the fake relationship trope, but this one definitely worked for me. I also didn’t realize this was a series, so I’m excited to read more! There are definitely some moments in this book that can make a reader feel uncomfortable, but this book was so well written that the authors pulled it off in a way that just worked perfectly. The subject matter is heavy at times, but it was so interesting. I was able to binge this book in one day. I found this to be a highly engaging story. These authors handled difficult subject matter in a superb way. Hats off to them both. I would definitely recommend this book to other readers. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Addicted to You has such an interesting concept that I haven't seen from other ya/na romance novels. It's centered around a girl addicted to sex and a guy addicted to alcohol (Lily and Lo), and they decide to fake date to help each other. Fake dating is a trope that many romance novels has, but Krista and Becca Ritchie have written a both unique and fascinating backstory to this fake relationship.
It really brought attention to what people with addictions have to struggle through, and it was eye-opening to see that Lily knew that she had a problem but was unable to help herself without the help of others. Surprisingly, the ending depressed me a lot more than I expected, and the last scene made me cry. I loved how certain relationships evolved and were mended, which helped a lot for both parties. There might be certain trigger warnings, such as sex and alcohol (a given, since the book is centered around the addictions of that). If you won't be affected by those, then I recommend reading this book! But please be 100% sure you will be okay before starting Addicted to You!
Addicted To You is an emotional friends to lovers book that will pull on your heartstrings. It is emotional, angsty and gives you all the feels.
Lily Calloway and Loren Hale are the definition of soulmates. Their story proves that everyone deserves a happy ending. Their character arcs are so powerful and emotional. From where we meet them to the end of book one. They need to overcome so many hurdles to become better for themselves and for everyone around them. Lily and Lo’s love is at times destructive and co-dependent at their worst but their love has the powerful to overcome the worst and that’s how beautiful their story is. Lily and Lo go through so much to be better for each other and themselves. This book had me sniffling and smiling at the same time. Their love is so epic and beautiful. You root for them and you feel like they are your friends. You feel part of their world so deeply that you want to just be part of their friend group. Lily is the sweetest and Lo is just the snarkiest cinnamon roll. They are the perfect opposites attract. They are so different yet so alike in so many ways. The way Krista and Becca include the topics of addiction while trying to maintain a relationship and help yourself. I thought it was heart wrenching and hopeful that everyone deserves kindness, help and a happy story.
The bonus content was the perfect addition to the story. We see other sides of Lily and Lo and glimpse of how strong they are, how sweet they are and what a perfect couple they are. Krista and Becca Ritchie created such an epic love story with Addicted To You. It’s a must read!
I'm so glad I finally started the series. It's just addictive and captivate as its name! Addicted to You is about Loren Hale and Lily Calloway, two best friends who have secret addictions that they’ve been hiding from their prestigious families for years. Loren is an alcoholic and Lily is addicted to sex.
These two end up in a fake relationship in the most raw, honest and emotional way. I love all the side characters and I can't wait to read more about them all! Truly an amazing book that is must read.
Special thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for an ARC in exchange for an honest review
I've seen this book on Booktok for months and months, I just never got around to reading it. . First, I appreciated that they addressed sexual addiction with the same gravity as they did with alcoholism. Often times it is overlooked or written off as just promiscuity. Also, having her thoughts and behaviors come straight from her shows how all-consuming addiction can be, in any form. The foundation of their relationship is based around like interests and years worth of feelings that formed before the addictions took such a strong hold, which is why I was rooting for them. I have to say, a lot of the enabling each other and conversations would have brought down the score of this book a bit for me, and at moments I really wanted to stop reading. I'm glad I stuck with it,
also...LOREN HALE. regardless of how I felt about the overall book at times, I adored this man.
While an interesting premise, I was never able to like the characters. She's addicted to sex and he's addicted to alcohol. I think I would have been a little more sympathetic if I could have found one redeeming quality but in my mind I just kept screaming at them. What are you doing? Why?!?! Aaahhh! I understand the authors were trying to get us into the mind of addicts but I simply didn't like the people and couldn't get into the story. This is a pass from me.
This book was not my favorite. Honestly, the secondhand embarrassment is genuinely unreal so please proceed with caution if that's something that turns you off in a book. I had to keep putting it down for that reason. Lily and Lo are compelling characters and I think this book (and series) is more about vibes than actual premise and storytelling. There is no real plot. These rich kids live their lives and this book, in particular, focuses on Lily and Lo's addiction and the start of their journey to overcome it. This is a book that you start in order to get lost in the world more than you're there for a compelling read, honestly. There is so much content; the authors are very interactive and if that is something you are into, there will always be more of these characters and world for you to seek out. Tik Tok sensations are being re-released and that's great for the authors who are getting this recognition, but in my personal opinion, the story is overzealous and the writing subpar. I wanted to get an ARC of this book even though I had already read the self-published version to see what changes were made with traditional publishing and the bonus content, and it was simply okay. Read this book if you like an all-consuming world to live out your Kardashian-like dreams and character development (I mean, there are like 10 books + the children's stories. It would be concerning to NOT have development) but not if you're looking for a quick romance and to be honest, diversity.
