A Daughter’s Courageis a well written historical book.. Good plot and character dynamics. I recommend this book if you enjoy historical books. I received an advance ebook from the publisher and Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.
The author does an amazing job of taking readers back in time to 1817. There we can picture snow covering the mountains as a harsh winter has come. I loved Charlotte and desire to help her father around the village. While cleaning one day she damages a precious item that is treasured by her and the village. She was so afraid to confess to her papa that she runs away determined to find someone to repair it. I don’t think she was thinking clearly when she finds herself in weather that was unbearable to endure. She will find a lesson waiting for her in the story which we all can use sometime. Charlotte learns to trust her father and lean on others when she is in trouble. We can’t do everything by ourselves and Charlotte finds out God has sent someone to help her.
Damien was my favorite character because he was humble, strong and searching for happiness. After losing his sister he seems to be lost and not sure what to do next. When he and Charlotte meet it is under circumstances that force them to join up in order to survive the dangers in the wild. It did take a bit of time for both of them to warm up to each other. I liked how Damien became protective of Charlotte and treated her respectfully.
The author allows these two characters to slowly get to know each other and I liked the pace of their relationship. As they start to trust each other they face danger on their journey. The author described the weather so well, I grabbed a blanket as I read the book. I loved how Damien came to understand that God loved Him. We sometimes think we disappoint others or God, but we need to remember that God is pleased with us. He loves us and delights in us. I loved the illustration that shows when we feel discouraged , God is there to lift us up.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
A Daughter's Courage is another captivating historical fiction by Misty M Beller. I like the author's writing style which puts the reader right into the scenes. The story reeled me in from the first page and kept my interest until the end with adventure, danger, and, of course, romance. Even though the book is part of a series (Brides of Laurent), it is easily a stand-alone read. I eagerly await more from this author. I won a copy of the book through LibraryThing and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. This is the third book in this series. I have not read the rest of the series, and I found this is a good stand-alone.
Our library has many Christian readers. So Bethany House is where I start when I am looking for good books!
This will be one our patrons enjoy!
"Lord, I want to trust you. I'm not sure if I can. Give me the desire to place this in your hands.'
I love history, always have. I love the historical writing of Misty Beller, too. Very much. Her descriptions are so vivid, it seems as if the reader is right there in the book with her characters. I look forward to what Beller has in store for her readers next.

Damien, a trapper, finds Charlotte alone on the mountain. Determined not to let her travel alone, he agrees to escort to the fort. Charlotte's not sure but decides to let him accompany her.
The story is about a budding romance between Damien and Charlotte. They learn to lean on and trust one another. There are times of unexpected peril which need strength from God and prayers for them to pull through. There is forgiveness, disappointment, unconditional love, and increased faith. Lots of mystery and a very unexpected ending which wrapped everything up nicely.
Another great read from Misty Beller, who never lets her readers down. Highly recommended.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and voluntarily choose to review it.
I'm not exactly sure what I want to say about A Daughter's Courage. Misty M Beller is sometimes hit or miss for me. I didn't love the first book in this series, but I enjoyed book 2 much better than the first. I decided to go ahead and check out book 3, and I landed somewhere in the middle with my feelings on it.
Charlotte is quiet, yet stubborn. And proud too. Admitting when we've made a mistake is quite difficult sometimes. Yet so much could have been avoided if only she'd talked to her father from the beginning. Of course, that wouldn't have been much of a story, would it? Damien wants to be alone. He's still grieving his twin sister's death. And yet he can't stop himself from helping Charlotte when he sees her out in a snow storm on her own.
One of my issues with A Daughter's Courage is how similar it is to other stories both in this series and in Beller's Hearts of Montana series. Two people on a journey in the mountain wilderness surviving by themselves and dependent upon each other.
My other and perhaps biggest issue was the lack of dialogue within the first half of the book between the two main characters. Yes Charlotte is quiet and Damien appreciates this quality about her, but two people need to talk in order to develop more than just an attraction to each other. Beller tells us that the two talked about this subject or that subject at one point, but the actual dialogue was lacking for a large portion of the story.
I enjoyed A Daughter's Courage. I didn't speed through it, but it didn't seem to drag on either. The only problems I had revolved around the lack of dialogue in the first portion of the book which led to a tell vs show issue and that the story was very similar to what I've read of Beller's work in the past. I rooted for the characters, and I enjoyed their growth. In the end, A Daughter's Courage gets 3 Stars. Have you read A Daughter's Courage? What did you think? Let me know!
We return to Laurent, the very secluded village, hidden in the depths of the moyntain, in this new adventure by Misty M. Beller. The story starts with Charlotte and brings in Damien, an outsider. Charlotte is somewhat anxious about the fact that her father seems to favor Hugo, a young m,an that she grew up with, as a possible husband for her. Charlotte has no romatic interest in Hugo, even though the young man seems to have changed and grown up under her father's leadership and guidance. Charlotte longs for a romance shuch as her friend Audrey and her sister, Brielle have found, with the outsiders that stumbled upon their village a few years ago. They proved themselves worthy and are now citizens of Laurent.
The story continues as Charlotte stumbles and the engraved chalice, tlead usreasured by the village, ends up in the fire,, melting and singed. Charlotte decides to take the cup to the fort to try and have it repaired by a metal worker there, before anyone discovers the mishap.
Will Charlotte return safely? What part will Damien play in the story that unfolds? Will they meet with each other along the way? Will this turn out good or bad? This tale, is gripping right from the first words, Another adventure plays out in the village of Laurent. Is the village going to remain safe, as new outsiders become a part of their life? Join our friends of Laurent in their new adventure.
Charlotte Durand accidentally damages the village’s beloved chalice and wants to fix it before people find out and are upset. Charlotte sets out on her own, not thinking of anything more than going to the nearest fort that would have people who might be able to help. What ensues is Charlotte’s arduous journey with the help of Damien Leyette, a stranger who rescues her from a deadly situation.
Charlotte was such a strong and determined young lady. I admired her for the love that she had for her father and her village that she would go to such lengths to try and have the chalice fixed.
I found the village of Laurent that was Charlotte’s home to be intriguing since it was hidden inside a mountain. What would that have been like to be secluded and living there? Damien would be the perfect fit for Charlotte and the people of this unique town. I would like to have had the author’s notes on how she came up with the idea. Was it based upon a real place?
I enjoyed the surprising revelation of the chalice. This was a terrific way of bringing things together at the end of the book. I recommend reading this book if you like westerns, books with characters of faith, and/or stories of adventure. While this is book three in the Brides of Laurent series, it can be read as a stand alone. I have not read any of the other books and had no difficulty following the storyline.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley and Celebrate Lit. All opinions expressed are my own.
Impressive Courage
Bestselling author of romantic mountain stories Misty M. Beller presents "A Daughter's Courage", the third book in the "Brides of Laurent" series, published by Bethany House Publishers. The story takes place in Rupert's Land in the Rocky Mountains of Canada in 1817. Charlotte Durand is living with her father Hugo in a hidden village. He likes to see her married but she does not like the man he has chosen. In an accidents Charlotte damages a valuable and treasured chalice that her people have treasured for over a hundred years. She sets out to the ford in order to find somebody who can repair it. She thinks it would be a two-day hike but it turns out into much more due to a blizzard. Luckily Damien Levette finds her although he is not happy about this new gained responsibility. In reality they need one another in order to survive although Damien plans to do anything in order to prevent that Charlotte reaches the ford because he considers it not save for her to go there alone. Taking all these challenges into account the question is: will Charlotte be able to get the chalice repaired?
This is the second book I have read by Beller. Although it is the third book in the series it can be also read as a stand-alone. I really enjoyed it since it should the impressive courage of Charlotte. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy Christian Historical Fiction and Christian Historical Romance.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

While each of the books in this series can be read on its own, I would definitely recommend reading them in order to get to know the community and its members as each story builds on the next a bit. I've loved the mysterious concept of this group of people living so isolated from society in a network of caves. Naturally some of the younger people begin to feel interest about the outside world, and while Charlotte is a nurturer and excellent cook, she takes the journey to fix her mistake without hesitation. She had been a bit sheltered and comes across as naive in the beginning, but learns so much being stranded and fighting for survival alongside Damien. He makes a timely appearance and has secrets of his own, which are revealed slowly as he and Charlotte grow closer together and explore faith, companionship, and their own individual struggles.

Charlotte's 2 day journey becomes a journey of danger, courage, faith and romance. The author's descriptions are wonderful, they bring such clear pictures to your mind as we journey along with them. This is one series I may have to read again.
I was gifted a copy through NetGalley, my review and opinion are voluntary,
Misty Beller's Brides of Laurent is a delightful series. While historical, it reads with a bit of a fantasy, fairy-tale sort of feel. In my opinion the series will be enjoyed to the fullest by being read in order. A Daughter's Courage, the third book in the series, focuses on Charlotte, the middle child of the village of Laurent's chief. It follows her on her quest to reach Fort Versailles in search of an artisan talented enough to restore an heirloom dear to the hearts of all the villagers, traveling in the Canadian Rockies as winter sets in. This is a story of perseverance, discovery, love, and family, above all its a story of God's love for His children. I highly recommend this book and series.
I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of A Daughter's Courage from Bethany House via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.
This was such a great conclusion to the Brides of Laurent series. I absolutely loved these books that take place in a hidden cave community in the Canadian Rockies. Charlotte is so sweet and yet she's a very strong young lady who leaves the community in order to find someone to repair the ruined chalice that belongs to their village. On her way she meets Damien and lots of adventures follow as they seek to get past things holding them back. Sweet love story!
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

I have loved the Brides of Laurent series! Misty Beller captures my attention from the start with her mountain stories woven with the truth of God's love! Charlotte has courage but she makes some unwise decisions and has to be rescued by Damien and causes stress for her father when they can't find her! The idea of a large group of people living in a cave city known as Laurent intrigues me. It was a surprise how Damien turns out to have connections to the people of Laurent! I recommend A Daughter's Courage to anyone who enjoys historical fiction. I received a complimentary copy of A Daughter's Courage from Bethany House and NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.
Misty M. Beller has crafted another sweetly romantic story of adventure, faith, and love in A Daughter’s Courage. I will miss these characters and the unique setting of Laurent, but I have greatly enjoyed this series and I look forward to reading many more of Beller’s stories. 4/5 stars

This is book 3 in the Brides of Laurent books and I have read all three and this one is just as interesting as the other two. Beller has a way with words as she writes of winter in the Canadian mountains. The beauty and the isolation, the challenges that they face as they try to travel the mountains. She writes of the strength of the characters as they face the hardships that living in the mountains bring. We visit once again the hidden town of Laurent. A small village of people who take care of all their needs with food and medicines even the chiseling into the mountain as another home is needed. In this book we have a lone trapper who stumbles across one of the women who has sneaked away and headed for the fort quite a long ways off. He knows that a woman alone would not be safe at the fort with only men. So for her safety he travels with her and leads her in a circle trying to lead her back to the village, although he doesn’t know where it is. A most interesting book that will hold your interest from the very first chapter…..I received a courtesy copy from Bethany House through NetGalley. This is my honest opinion of the book.
A Daughter’s Courage was a tale full of adventure. Charlotte was a character who I felt began the story with a rather naive perspective about the world she lived in. She simply did not realize how dangerous the trek across the wilderness would be for anyone, let alone a woman traveling by herself. She never even contemplated that the fort could also house dangers, as well. She also was incredibly stubborn and did not listen easily to the advice of Damien regarding incoming weather and other dangers. However, Charlotte learned a lot while on this journey and her eyes were opened about many things. I grew to really like her.
I also liked Damien. Although I did not always agree with his decisions, I appreciated that he wanted to help Charlotte and keep her safe. He proved himself to be a very honorable and kind man and it was a joy to watch a true friendship develop between the two that then grew into love.
It was great to see some characters from the earlier stories, yet I feel that this novel could also be enjoyed on its own even if you haven’t read the first two books of the series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
A Daughter's Courage may be the third book in the Brides of Laurent Series but it is the first book I have read written by Misty M. Beller. What a captivating read it is too. I am more contemporary fiction but loved the early 1800’s setting within the story of a small remote Canadian mountain village and the people who make their home there. Charlotte Durand leaves the village to find an artisan to fix a village chalice that she accidently damaged. This is her story along with the one who finds her helping her to survive a blizzard.
A faith-based novel with clear honor and gratitude of the characters going to the Lord, making this an inspiring as well as an intriguing read. Being so well written and descriptive that I could feel the cold seeping in as Charlotte and Damien did, then the warmth of returning to the village.
I haven’t read the first two books but this one read well on its own. I do hope to catch up by reading the previous books, mostly because A Daughter's Courage is just that great of a story. I also hope another story is in the making for one male character that Charlotte told “I know He’ll (God) give you someone far better when the time is right.” I want to read his story, seeing who is far better and just the right one for him. Definitely now Misty M. Beller is an author I will read.

The publisher through Net Galley provided a digital ARC. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts.
I love the way Ms Beller writes. It's like watching a movie in my head with her detailed descriptions. Her books deserve a lot more stars than 5 stars. Even though I was given a copy of this book by NetGalley, it in no way influenced my opinion and this is my honest review.
A damaged chalice brought so much more than ever expected. God’s hand had woven their paths seamlessly, beginning with their ancestors and all the way to this present day. Were they ready to accept all that He had to offer?
The author has given us another look at the lovely village of Laurent from it’s place in the Rocky Mountains of Canada. The amazing detail had me shivering, wanting to cry out a warning and almost holding my breath. As she unwisely leaves the shelter of her village in hopes of finding someone to repair the chalice accidentally damaged, Charlotte is unprepared for what she experiences. A blizzard, thin ice, wolves and even a bear were just some of the dangers met in her unwise attempt. With the help of a lone stranger, will she find her way safely home?
This early copy was received through Baker Publishing Group, Bethany House Publishers and NetGalley. These thoughts and impressions are my own and were in no way solicited.
