WORTHY OF LEGEND is the third novel in the Secrets of the Isles series by ROSEANNA M WHITE, and although it can be read as a stand alone, I suggest that you read the books in sequence in order to really get to know the characters. In amongst this lovely group of friends on the islands of Scilly, looking for the treasure hidden by Elizabeth Mucknell in 1651, we find the delightful Lady Emily Scofield, who, despite her family’s cruel treatment, longs to show them love and lead them to salvation. She feels that “eeryone deserves love” and chooses to have mercy even as Christ has shown her mercy.
As these friends carry on with their treasure hunt, which may even tie in with the tales of King Arthur and the knights of the Round Table, much to Bram Sinclair’s delight, there is all kinds of excitement, danger, betrayal, violence and suspense played out against the beautiful island settings. There is more than one romance and a strong Christian message.
Worthy of Legend is an enjoyable and inspirational read.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Bathany House Publishers. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

This was another wonderful historical fiction book from Roseanna M. White. It’s the third and my favorite book in the series. And this series is as heartwarming as any other the author’s previous books, and we get an interesting twist with pirate treasure.

This is Emily’s story, who we meet earlier in the series. She gets the spread her wings here and become much more than they quiet, abused women she’s been. She finds wonderful friends and Bram, who absolutely cherishes her.

This book had a little bit of everything I enjoy in historical fiction - great characters, a hero and heroine worthy of each other, seamlessly woven in historical details, and a bit of mystery.

Another great series from Roseanna M. White!

"Worthy of Legend" is an excellent book that serves as an excellent culmination to an excellent series. My only regret was that I didn't get an ARC of the audiobook. Since only an ebook was available, I was "forced" to read the book rather than listen to it. It was SO engaging that I finished it rather quickly (for an ebook). I had already listened to books 1 and 2 in the series, so I was familiar with the main characters and was fully invested in this story from the first page. The sympathetic characters are so likeable, so engaging (yes, I've used that word already), that you can't help but like them and want a great outcome for them. The author also gives some level of insight into why the unlikeable characters behave the way they do. They, too, have their stories.

The author did an excellent job of tying up any loose ends for the other characters, while also maintaining an interesting main plot and several subplots. She really is one of my favorite Christian fiction authors, and I will continue to seek out her work. In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing a follow-up to this book, one that features Millicent. Abbie, and Vandermeer, about whom certain things are hinted but not quite resolved.

I enjoyed reading Emily and Bram's story. In Worthy of Legend, Emily became more than the shy woman who had been intimidated and abused by her family. She became a woman who was determined to do the right thing regardless of the consequences, a woman who chose to love even those from whom she'd only received hate.

Bram had been portrayed as Lizzie's slightly overbearing older brother. The grumpy bear who couldn't be pleasant before noon but he was so much more. This book captures his heart and explained the reason for his behavior.

The romance between Emily and Bram evolved slowly, starting as friendship but eventually becoming worthy of legend.
Readers will be reminded that God loves everyone, even those who set themselves against us as enemies and we are called to love them even as God loves us.

I received an advanced reader's copy from the publisher through NetGalley; a positive review was not required.

If you haven't read the first two books in the series, definitely give them a read first - otherwise you'll be completely lost!

Worthy of Legend picks up where To Treasure an Heiress left off with the charming cast of characters seeking the location of the legendary pirate treasure.

I felt like this last installment was far more touching than the first two. Lady Emily has suffered under the harsh treatment of her father and brother and has finally found friends who cherish her - though she still struggles to believe she belongs. This book is a story of self discovery as well as the discoveries that unfolds in their adventure and it was an enjoyable end to the series.

This is the third book in the series. This is Emily and Bram’s story. Bram is an expert on King Arthur. Emily and Bram are on a search for artifacts. Her brother is against them. Her family is not supportive. Emily and Bran find a way to persevere. Their love wins out. The book is well written. A great end to the series.

Set in 1906 on the Isles of Scilly, Worthy of Legend follows the stories of Lady Emily Scofield and Bram Sinclair. After layers of her family’s betrayal come to the surface, Emily, Bram, and the other characters that are known and loved in Roseanna M. White’s trilogy, The Secrets of the Isles, team up to hide the clues and discoveries they’ve made. After several confrontations with her father and brother, Emily has to take a stand—will she stand with the ones who have loved her as her family should have, or will her father’s threat to cut off all money allowances become too much for her when the shelves are bare and her stomach empty? What happens when Bram has no intention of falling in love this summer but realizes his heart may be more open to the idea of love when someone almost takes away the woman he vowed to protect for good? You’ll have to read to find out!

Alrighty, I am here to provide pros, cons, and a cautionary for this last installment of White’s trilogy.

Story pacing: The pacing of Worthy of Legend was a little bit slow at first. After having read all of the author’s previously published books, I know that while the story may start off a little slow for my liking, it always picks up, and I never regret pushing through the slow starts because it’s always worth it! If you prefer slower-paced reads, then you’ll absolutely love this book. If you’re more like me and don’t mind a slow start that crescendoes to a fast-paced, exciting climax, stick with it--you’ll love this book as I did too!

Characters: The characters in this book absolutely stole my heart—probably more than any other book I’ve read by the author. Bram and Enyon—they brought this book from an already 4-star read to a glowing 4.75-star review. Where do I start? Let me tackle Bram’s character first:

Bram was such an example to me of what it means to find someone who loves you when others reject you, builds you up when others tear you down, and never gives up on you when others already have. There were so many tender scenes with Emily where she wrestled with the sadness of being rejected by her family and recounted all the times she had been berated and belittled by her father and brother, and while Bram listened to every word she said, he would never allow her to sit in those lies. He would point her back to the truth, every time.

In one particular scene where Emily was talking about how her brother, the antagonist of this series, Nigel, and everything he did to her when she was growing up, Bram said this to her: “I think perhaps that was a blessing in disguise—because instead of turning out like them, you’ve turned out like you.”

Yes, I highlighted that quote on my Kindle because it’s so beautiful, and such a needed truth to speak over those in our lives. Good things can be brought out of hard ones; sometimes, in order to recognize that beauty, we need someone to show us where to find it. Bram did this for Emily’s character, and I absolutely loved it.

Enyon’s character. Oh my word, he was absolutely amazing. Even though his relationship/interactions with Tommie are not the focal point of this story, their love story still got the attention it deserved. It was truly so beautiful. Enyon never saw Tommie for what others had done to her, but the God who was in her heart. He proved this time and time again. There’s this scene—I won’t mention specifics in order to avoid spoilers—where Tommie and Anyone are talking, and Enyon says this to her: “You were trying to be invisible behind Lady Emily, yet you were all sunshine and smiles in the kitchen. Brightness hidden in shadow. With a ghost story of your own in your eyes. I don’t expect you to tell me all that put it there, certainly not yet. But I’d like the chance to earn your trust. So that if ever you do . . . well, you won’t find a readier ear to hear it or a readier heart to believe it. Whatever haunts you, you needn’t be haunted alone.”

Goshhh. Enyon’s character absolutely won me over at that moment. What an example of what it means to be there for someone. To be willing to listen, but not pressing that person to trust you before they’re ready. Enyon was so patient with Tommie, and he so demonstrated the same love God lavishes on His children—arms always welcoming home, ears always willing to listen, and love that never gives up.

Morals: If the characters alone haven’t convinced you to read Worthy of Legend, the morals absolutely should! There was one moral in particular that absolutely stood out to me because it’s rare in fiction. But the best kind of rare. When Bram is trying to figure out the growing feelings he has for Emily, he consults with his best friend, Sheridan. He confides in Sheridan, telling his friend that he truly wants to understand his feelings for Emily. Are they ones that were brought about by the inner knight in him, wanting to save a damsel in distress? Or did he truly love her? This conversation with Sheridan became one of my favorite scenes in the book because it was a demonstration of what love is. What it looks like. And why it’s important to understand how you feel about someone and be sure it really is love before you pursue them on a deeper level. It’s rare to find a book that talks about love before the characters fall in love, and I absolutely loved that moral in this story. The author nailed it—absolute perfection!

Minor dislikes: The only reason I’m docking .25 stars isn’t because of the content, but just a few scenes I wished were handled a little differently. I won’t specify what they are in order to keep this review from containing spoilers, but they’re nothing major. Just a few minor preferences of mine, but nothing that distracts or takes away from the storyline!

Slight cautionary: There is mention of sexual abuse, as two of the characters state that they had something taken from them (their virtue). The author handled this aspect of the story so carefully, and no explicit details whatsoever are mentioned, only the occurrence of that event taking place. If you’d like more specific details, please feel free to comment and let me know, and I’d be happy to share more.

All this to say, please do yourself a favor and grab a copy of Worthy of Legend. Not only was it my favorite book in this trilogy, but one of my favorite books yet by the author. An excellent, wonderful read!

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for an eARC of Worthy of Legend. A positive review was not required, only my honest opinion. All thoughts are expressly my own.

Indiana Jones...but in the 1900s with pirates! I loved this story for many reasons. For one, the storytelling is on point. By the end of the book, I fell in love Lady Emily and Bram! And the details. Any historical romance novel that teaches me snippets of information while I'm reading is another "win."

If you like historical fiction with romance and suspense added to the mix, you'll enjoy Worthy of Legend.

Oh this was just a perfect way to end a wonderful series! I have so enjoyed this series and I am sad to see these characters go. Worthy of Legend is the third book in Roseanna M White’s The Secrets of the Isles, and best read in order.
I have been waiting for Bram’s book. It was fun to get to know him through his sister and best friend’s eyes, but it was different reading through his perspective. Bram was a bit of a grumpy character but there was much hidden behind his grumpiness. He was kind and he truly loved his sister. I loved how Bram was aware of others and how he wanted to show Emily that she was loved. It was so sweet to read about him falling for Emily and trying his best to care for her.
Emily was a sweetheart to read about. I loved her character and hair growth. She had been belittled all her life and yet she was trying to stand up for herself and fight for what was right. I enjoyed reading about Emily. She tried to get out of her shell and even do hard things, like befriending her maid. She was scared of letting people know they would leave, but she was learning to try. Emily had to learn to trust God and what it meant to love even those who hurt her.
Emily and Bram were just the cutest together! I loved their relationship and how they brought out the best in each other. They were both learning to trust God’s plans even when life was changing. I also enjoyed their interactions and easy banter
The plot was so engaging and I was not sure how this book was going to end! It was definitely exciting to read as they searched for the treasure. I also adored the side characters and the side romance! On my goodness, it was so cute and a wonderful addition to the study. I would warn though there is mention of sexual abuse, nothing shown just implied. However all in all this was a wonderful book and it was such a joy to read!
Worthy of Legend was a legendary book and my new favorite by White! I mean her book just keeps on getting better! I am excited to see what she will write next. This book needs to be on your TBR. Worthy of Legend is a clean historica Christian book however there is mentions of sexual abuse, physical abuse and some violence. I would recommend it to those at least 13 years and older

Worthy of Legend is the third book in the Secrets of the Isles series. I had not read the first two, and found myself thinking it might have been helpful if I had. This book has a lot of characters, and I sometimes struggled to keep the relationships straight. Having said that, this is an interesting story of the discovery of Arthurian artifacts and the search to retrieve them.

Lady Emily and her friends discover a diary that leads to the search for the artifacts. Lady Emily’s family, with whom she has a strained relationship, is also seeking the artifacts. The greed of Lady Emily’s father and brother, and the betrayal of her family, are at the center of this story.

I liked this book, but I didn’t love it. I would give it 3.5 stars. I liked the character Lady Emily very much; some of the other characters, not so much. And I loved the setting in the Isles of Scilly, off the SW English coast).

I received a advance copy from the publisher and Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Camelot, Sir Tristan, King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table have been stories with which my grandfather enchanted and enthralled my siblings and I when we were children. Therefore, Worthy of Legend delighted me to no end - cover to cover.

This particular work of historical fiction is the third in the Isles of Scilly trilogy and encompasses more than history and legends. It speaks of God's love and mercy, and even has warnings of judgment, which I suppose not everyone would like to hear about but is crucial information. To have such messages threaded throughout the story is a big plus and bonus for me to read. I was very pleased with how authoress Roseanna M. White expressed and developed these themes that are close to my heart as well.

The book's prologue is set in 1651 somewhere in the Isles of Scilly, with John the Pirate and his well loved wife Lizza. Lizza finds and rehides an artifact so her husband won't find it - she has her reasons. The story then takes us fast forward to 1906, on those same Isles where we meet our heroine Lady Emily Scofield, Lord Telford, Olliver, Beth, Libby, Sheridan, Nigel and other good and not so good guys. They all have interest in finding pirate treasure, some of which is connected to the Legends of King Arthur's Court.

The story ends in finding that treasure that is "worthy of legend," and more. There is mystery, there is ruthlessness, there is romance. I love the interpersonal relationships among the very good friends - the camaraderie and how new relationships develop and grow. All round, I found myself very pleased and satisfied, or maybe not satisfied because I was sorry to see the good, clean, fun narrative's end. Five star salute to this well-accomplished authoress!

This was so so beautiful! By far my favorite in the series!!Roseanna M White has become my absolute favorite author. She writes with such depth. Emily was such a beautifully written character. After everything she had gone through and suffered, she still was merciful and loving and showed Gods love to others. Her character convicted me. Bram was everything that is noble. He thought of others before himself. He protected those he loved. He used wisdom. He was so selfless and humble. I loved how he protected Emily. Enyon and Tommies story was so beautiful and I absolutely loved reading it! Reading this book has made me want to reread the series.

Worthy of Legend by Roseanna M. White is a great historical fiction and romance that is the third book in the wonderful series: The Secrets of the Isles.

This book takes place after the second in 1906. I have not had the chance yet to read the first two books in the series, but gaging how wonderful this book has been, I am most definitely going to be reading the first two. I also think that I would have followed the overarching theme and characters tied in with pervious novels a bit better if I would have followed them in sequence. That being said, I immensely enjoyed this book, and I highly recommend it.

Lady Emily Schofield is a wonderful main character. Bram Sinclair is the perfect partner. Together, they are an excellent investigative duo…and when so much is at stake from so many different avenues…both step up to the plate…and find answers to so much more in the process.

This book has history, mystery, suspense, romance, love, loyalty, friendship, and helps define what we define the true meaning of a hero..and of what makes up a true family.

5/5 stars
