This is an excellent book club kit to accompany ALL MY RAGE. Not only did I find the discussion questions excellent, I got greater insight into the book through the author interview. I think it would be fun for a book club to make the suggested recipes or listen to the Spotify playlist. This will enrich the reading experience of those reading alone or with a group.
I absoluelty love these kits and so I am going to say the same thing I said for all the rest of them. I run a book group that is all about the intersectionality of gender, race, class etc where we read fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and plays that dabble in an assortment of genres for ages twelve and up. A kit like this makes it 10x easier to prep for my discussion that month with a sort of guideline for what sort of questions can be asked on top of the author interviews. I also really enjoy the handouts that these kits provide. The book marks and even book related lists are great for patrons wanting more from the book group.
This book club kit was very complete and I think it would be a great addition to the book.
I though that the note to readers identifying the triggers and spoiler warnings was a bit much because one assumes that the book has been read before starting the kit.
The letter from the author was a nice touch - and gave insight into the book.
I didn't think the cover was striking, but the inspiration described in the interview made me look at it differently.
The discussion questions were well thought out and are sure to encourage a lively discussion of the book.
I liked the little extras - the bookmarks, recipes, and what to read next. I think that covered just about everything a book club would want to know. Likewise, the resources were interesting too.
I think that the inclusion of other books by the author and some of her information was helpful to put the story into context.
And the Playlist! What a great idea! I think that the playlist would set the mood for the book club, and along with the Chai and Kulfi, bring the group into Sabaa's world.
I loved Sabaa Tahir's young adult fantasy series, and am so glad that I got to read not just All My Rage, but also this book club kit. Not only does it contain very insightful questions, but also a wonderful recipe that you will not want to miss!
It was get to see the authors insight and how you could create a good range of conversations with your friends and family.
A wonderful kit!!! thank you so much for providing this for readers it has great discussion topics, plus some fun extras like an author letter, palylist and bookmarks! There's even recipes and book recs! Loved it :)
Ahhhhh! This is a fantastic kit. It delves into the emotional aspect of the book and the 3 main characters. This is great for book clubs and nicely included a letter from the author. Bonus, a playlist is also in this kit to give you all the feels.
I found this to be helpful in discussing this book with my club. We had insightful conversations and were able to further explore what this book meant
So much to talk about this book. This has an interview with the author that gives you a little more into the writing process, which is nice for a book as rooted in its environment as this one. Specially helpful if there are some readers who aren't too familiar with the world she's writing about.
I already reviewed All My Rage and I loved it. Now when it comes to the book club kit, I did find it useful and think it’s a great tool to use when discussing the book. I would definitely recommend this to others who host and/or run book clubs. I would love to see more Book Club kits developed for other books.
I would love to interview Sabaa Tahir for Pop-Culturalist.com. Sabaa Tahir is one of my favorite authors and I adore her writing style. Sabaa knows how to write lovable characters and create tension between them.
A group composed of myself and some friends meet monthly to discuss a book that we chose to read. This book club kit helped tremendously when we met up. There were many good discussion questions and interviews that we could talk about to keep us on task throughout our meeting!
super helpful book club kit for tahir's first contemporary novel 'all my rage' - i read this book a few days ago and still haven't made up my mind about it. it was nothing like i expected. i'm a huge fan of sabaa tahirs and after reading the an ember in the ashes quartet my expectations were quite high. i wouldn't say that all my rage disappointed me but it was so different from sabaa tahirs other work that i needed some time to get into it. this book kit definitely makes it easier to comprehend sabaa's motives on writing this story. i appreciated her careful and profound way of approaching difficult themes surrounding love, loss, abuse and more. the interview in here just reinforces my initial feeling. i also really liked the playlist and the recipes that are included in this book kit!
I requested this because I bought this book and was considering it as my book club selection. I downloaded the kit and it was great. Full of interviews and questions and background information. I really liked it and look forward to sharing some of the info.
Great book club kit about All My Rage. I loved the book and the questions helped me discuss it with friends who also read it! I love the addition of the author's letter and interview. The playlist is also a nice addition since Noor loves music so much. I hope I can try the recipes some time as well! Maybe while listening to the playlist :)
Now I'll go back to hug All My Rage while eating chocolate because this book destroyed me (in the best way)!
This book club kit was so fun! I loved that it included recipes reflected in the novel since the cuisine mentioned wasn't one familiar to me and I'm eager to try them out this week. The playlist was amazing as well, especially since music was an integral part in the novel for the character Noor. The bookmarks were cute, but I would've preferred instructions for how to print double sided instead of the folding technique. The author note, Q&A, and Discussion Questions were all thought provoking and added to the reading experience. I liked especially that the author suggested some Discussion Questions herself.
As someone who used to moderate an in-person book club (pre-pandemic) I can attest to the fact that moderating the book discussion is the most trying part of the process. Either you find yourself with a book that comes with its own kit included, or you're forced to comb back through hundreds of pages looking for suitable content.
With the former, you run the risk of posing deeply subjective questions about symbolism and thematic elements that many readers may overlook when trying to read on a deadline.
With the latter, the primary struggle is keeping the content engaging. Especially for the DNFs (Did-Not-Finishers) of the group. And every group I've participated in has at least one.
The nice thing about the Book Club Kit for All My Rage by Sabaa Tahir is that it gives you multiple directions to choose from to maximize engagement. You have your standard author interview and reader questions (with plenty to choose from) AS WELL AS a playlist and recipes.
17 years in the making, it is clear that All My Rage is Sabaa Tahir's passion project right down to the very last. If you are looking to reengage your book club or start a new one I would suggest using this kit as a template for all of your future meets.
[Thank you NetGalley and We Are Bookish for a free copy of this book club kit in exchange for an honest review!]
This kit has some meaningful discussion questions.
I appreciate the opportunity to use these. Thank you.
An awesome tool to use for book club. I particularly like the addition of a song playlist. My group was small but we found that the questions allowed us to reflect back on the book and think more critically about it.
What a beautifully made and thorough book club kit. Includes an author interview, recipes, discussion questions and a playlist for All My Rage by Sabaa Tahir. Great for YA librarians, teachers, or teen book clubs who want some help planning an event for the book, structuring discussion, and more.
