The book has a character list, phonics topic, gives questions for the reader to think about (about characters, events, plot), has a high frequency words list. This would be great for emergent readers. Either readers who are ready to read by themselves or are getting ready to read would like it. I enjoyed seeing classic Robert Munsch coming back for young readers!
Seems to me that this book almost encourages children to sneak into emergency vehicles.
The kids climb aboard a fire truck and the clanging of the bells, off they go for an exciting ride.
Evidently no lesson was learned because then they sneak into a police car and are off for more excitement.
It seems to me that it would have been a better plan have had the kids interrupt the police officer by saying "no more emergency runs for us!" ... as opposed to happily waving from the back window.
In regards to the rest of the book, I loved the pictures and reading resources and extras like differences between two pictures that are contained in the book.
Thank you to NetGalley, Robert Munsch the author and Annick Press Ltd the publisher for the opportunity to review The Fire Station Early Reader in exchange for an honest review.
